Thanks Mama for the title. A new thread hopefully everyone will find us again.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Engelsemama · 17/08/2012 11:09

M had temp of 39 when he got up, but has now gone down to 38.2.

Really snotty nose. have managed to get some liquids in him and he ate his breakfast (porridge) and just now some yoghurt, and has just fallen asleep again. Should I let him sleep as much as he needs? First time he's been ill Sad

Am knackered from no sleep from 3.30am onwards and have crick in my neck from sleeping facing M.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 17/08/2012 11:38

Aww, poor babies Sad
Yes I'd just let him sleep and snuggle all day. Hope he is back yo his self soon

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 17/08/2012 15:09

hi everyone, hope all the poorly babies get better soon.
pebble Shock @ 7 teeth, Mhairi is still working on her 2nd! & sorry to hear about DH, is he depressed? its really hard to live with that, and try to keep yourself happy too. ((hugs))
engels NZ sounds amazing, the furthest i've been from uk is egypt but would love to go to AUS or NZ. & Happy Anniversary Smile
MrsH how was school with kids back?
Fuzzy hope thing get better on the job front. i love safari park and zoo, its my christopher's favourite days out. Smile
sassy hope everything is going well with you, thats rubbish that your having to wait till november to get something sorted for C.

i'm only back at work 3 short days per week atm couldn't imagine looking after 2 kids and working a 40 hour week! although i think i will be signing up to do some overtime for the next few months i think to try and clear credit card bills Sad

C seems to be growing out of his daytime nap, he has refused to sleep in the day the past 3 days in a row but he get really overtired by 7pm and then has night terrors all night due to being overtired! dont know what to do?

Engelsemama · 17/08/2012 19:15

M is still feverish and full of cold. He's been sleeping most of the day, hasn't eaten too badly, but not as much as usual. Just put him to bed with some baby paracetamol and without his helmet as he's far too hot (39.9).

Sorry to sound like such a drip but this is the worst I've felt as a mama. Seeing him so listless and ill when he's usually so full of energy and mischief. Have just bawled my eyes out Sad (Maybe I'm not such a heartless bitch after all Grin )

Helmet is staying til his birthday - physio said there was no change in his head since the last time (well, minimal). have an adjustment appt in just over a week, but this is the home stretch now.

Spoke to my younger sister today ed who is currently floating around the South Pacific working as a deckhand (on shoreleave today) and turns out she and her Ozzie boyf are planning on heading to NZ next year as it's the only place they can both get a work visa for a year (unless they get married - maybe I should suggest that Grin ) so another reason to give DH for our trip to the land of the long white cloud!

pebble I would try and suggest that DH finds something to do by himself that gives him a bit of space (but expecting you and E to give him space/peace/quiet is a bit much - he needs to find it for himself, or create it by arranging a babysitter and organising a spa day for you and your friends!). For me it was running - I'm still trying to find out what it is for DH (was running group for him for a while)!

ClimbingPenguin · 17/08/2012 20:24

ibuprofen works best for fevers here, paracetamol doesn't touch DD's. She went up to 39.9 too but I think DS's is coming down now, spiking to 38's instead of 39's.

It is horrible when your babies just lie on you not moving, when normally they would never do that engels it is heartbreaking and your allowed to emotionally indulge yourself even it is 'just' a cold.

I don't feel like I am going to throw up anymore so that's good.

TallyBear · 17/08/2012 21:51

Ips apart from sleep it all sounds like its going in the right direction Smile.

Ed let it all out on here if you need to...that's what we're here for!

Cheshire yes, I've been back for 4 months now - it's scary how quickly time is going - they'll all be off to school soon! DH has been off with Seb but Monday is his first day at the childminder. Luckily he thinks she's wonderful and loves the new toys and playmates. Dh said he cried when he got back today after a trial session!

Fuzzzy you may have already done so as I am reading back a few days, but if you've gone to the bother of going to an interview it is beyond rude not to let you know. I'd phone, but obviously be polite just in case there is a reason...
Please can you explain Pinterest to me?

Pen you'll need to post some pics of your decorated cakes! Yummy.

Engles happy 1st anniversary! I don't miss Seb every minute of the day - i still love him to bits.

Climbing Oh no. I hope you're not in for a rough weekend.

Little that damn RL...always getting in the way!! Grin. We've got more teeth coming through too already, numbers 7 and 8!

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 17/08/2012 22:26

Right, can all these babies with 7 or 8 teeth please stop getting anymore Grin. Miss gummy S still hasn't even a hint of one! Funny though how some have almost a mouthful and others have none!

tally pinterest is like an online 'clipboard' that you can browse ideas the 'pin' them to your board to quick view again at a later time. I can spend hours on it Grin. Have found lots of great ideas for her birthday. Have a look on the site and if you want to sign up, let me know and I can send you an invite rather than have to wait weeks for them to email you one Smile
engel the few times when S has been ill with the cold, it makes me really emotional to see her like that Sad

She's finally just crashed out. Kept her up for few hours so my aunt in Canada (who was also in with me when she was born Smile) could see her on Skype.

pinkpainter · 17/08/2012 22:31

Sorry I've been out of touch with the thread for so long. I can't catch up - just far too far behind....sorry!

M is real mischief now she's started to crawl, opening drawers, climbing up, falling down (and bruising herself), grabbing things, eating things off the floor...it was never this hard with DD1! On the plus side though she's sleeping more, is better at amusing herself and it's brilliant to see my 2 DDs really playing together now.

We have teeth 3,4 and 5 all emerging together across the top, M is a bit clingy and grumbly at times but not too bad.

Have a good night everyone!

Engelsemama · 18/08/2012 07:52

Morning all, have pulled myself together now. M slept from 10 through til 6 and at a touch seems much cooler this morning. He's asleep in our bed with DH upstairs.

glad you're feeling a bit better climbing

strawberrypenguin · 18/08/2012 13:11

Just a quick drop in (i'm at work) Hope all the poorly babies and adults are feeling better. W has a cold too, think he picked it up at his nursery visit on Weds. Poor thing is sneezing away and floppier than normal. Think he and DH might be having a quiet day!

Fuzzzy Teeth arent all good news, W keeps putting holes in his dummies, he uses them as a teether too and they are expensive!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 18/08/2012 15:39

RE; teeth M's bottom teeth although they arent all the way through, they appear to be coming through squint? i'm worried that this could be because she sucks her thumb. is there anything i can do about it, or do you think they will straighten out when theyre all the way through.

BuntCadger · 18/08/2012 15:44

ed it won't be to do with thumb sucking. Just the way they are, likely they'll straighten out. Mine bottom 2 are a bit v shape and all dc are too. The "alleged" damage to teeth is from years of constant sucking as in every opportunity.

TallyBear · 18/08/2012 22:52

Fuzzzy I've had a word with Seb and he's promised not to grow any more teeth until S has a couple. Of course what he actually said was 'baababa guguga' but I think that's what he meant! Grin

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 18/08/2012 23:52

tally Grin. That sounds like a deal! It's funny, as you can see them all under her gums, just nothing coming through!
ed I asked my friend who is an orthodontist and says that it's just the way teeth are. Its more the adult ones you want to come in straight, but later on can be fixed with braces if need be

Engelsemama · 19/08/2012 07:50

It's so hot here. 30 degrees in M's room and it's not even 9am. They reckon it might hit 38 here today!

MrsHende · 19/08/2012 16:37

Anyone else ever sit in the car once you're parked at the house because the baby is asleep and you don't want to wake her?! That's what I'm doing right now! DH thinks I'm crazy, but it's so hard to get her to nap in the house that I'm damned if I'm going to wake her up if I have a choice!

We've been at a BBQ, we left when the rain started! She was a bit of a nightmare though, wouldn't let me put her down or go to anyone else without screaming. I think we've got full blown separation anxiety here.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 19/08/2012 17:55

mrsH I do that all the time, more so for C though as its quite easy to transfer M to the house still asleep.
I had separation anxiety from both kids when I first started back work. But it only took a week or 2 to pass Smile

Engelsemama · 20/08/2012 06:54

First day back at school for me. Been 30 + the last few days - please cool down!

ipswichwitch · 20/08/2012 07:35

pebble hope things are going ok for you. It can be hard trying to support a DP when they're going through something like this. I'm managing to get DP interested in exercise again as I feel it really helps lift him. We also take it in turns to lie in on a weekend as N is an early bird (nowt like me there!), and when it's my turn in a Sunday I just read my book in peace. Sounds like your DP needs a little time to do his own thing, but as someone has said he needs to make that time himself, not expect you to. Also, you probably need an hour to yourself once in a while so whatever you decide to do , be sure it includes you getting some time or you may become resentful of the "time out" he's getting.

Need to get my hands on some brufen as calpol ain't touching the teething pain atm (sorry fuzzzy!!). N has been screaming all night and has now finally decided to calm down and have some happy time, and I have to get up now (sob!) yesterday was the first day since he started on iron that he's not eaten much. He refused most things and it's reminded me how it used to be when we tried to get him to eat. Apart from yesterday he's been eating everything he can get his hands on lately which is fantastic.

mrsH I do that all the time , and can often be found sitting in the car on the drive having some quiet mumsnettingtime while he sleeps :)

Penelope1980 · 20/08/2012 10:50

Engels that's exciting if you come to NZ! Let me know if you are in Wellington Grin

LP I have a clingier baby too! He is a delight, but really is happier in his own space now. We just spent 3 nights at my mum's, in spite of having gone away with him at least monthly his whole life, this is the only time we've had trouble putting him to bed.

MrsHende yes i have done that with the car too! A trick I learnt from my very savvy sister ...

TallyBear · 20/08/2012 11:09

Dropped Seb at childminder for first full day today. sniff.

TallyBear · 20/08/2012 11:09

Oops,

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 20/08/2012 15:00

Aww tally Sad. I'm sure he will do fine. It's funny reading all your posts about dropping babies at nursery/childminder. Having worked in a nursery, I remember thinking to myself that I'd have no problems with it when the time came. Now, having got S, I'd be in tears leaving her now with people I don't know. She has only ever really spent time away from me with my mum and a few hours with my brother and sil. I'm so grateful I have my parents on hand. How did L get on today mrsh?

Well, S took 3 steps herself yesterday!! She took 1 the other day and she was going between me and my mum yesterday and let go of her hands and went herself before her balance went and she tumbled over Grin. She was so hyper with it and so the concentration was a bit off with all the laughing! Couldn't believe it! She done it again once this morning but that's been it so far.

strawberrypenguin · 20/08/2012 18:03

How was today tally hope it went ok.

Yay S fuzzzy. Grin

MrsHende · 20/08/2012 19:50

How are you tally? It's rubbish isn't it.

L was great today, my mum and dad came last night to stay and looked after her today. She didn't bat an eyelid when I left and I opened the door tonight to hear her giggling away with mum Grin.

I'm hoping that there was actually something wrong with her last week - she's got a new tooth and had a viral rashy thing from Wed-Sat so that may he why she was so unlike herself last week rather than it being nursery.

We'll see on Wednesday when she goes back!

Hope you're in your house Ed, saw that you'd locked yourself out!
