Thanks Mama for the title. A new thread hopefully everyone will find us again.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 15/08/2012 11:14

ips so happy to hear things are looking up for you and N! Great that the eating is going well. Is it helping with sleep at night?
mrsh hope L has a good first day. Good luck with back to work tomorrow.

ipswichwitch · 15/08/2012 12:21

Sadly no fuzzzy, he's still not a great sleeper. However he does feed less through the night - usually at 10 and 3. When he wakes at other times he lets DP settle him now. He's also not very interested in milk in daytime, probably because he's too busy stuffing his face with whatever he can get his wee hands on :)

Hope all goes well mrsH

ClimbingPenguin · 15/08/2012 13:11

engels about time one of these babies took a few steps Grin and to think it made it glum of the holidays worthwhile :)

i don't plan on repeating 7 min mile again anytime time soon, I only did it because I shorted my route as I forgot to go to the toilet before hand. My ankles have been hurting and I suspect my new expensive shoes are to blame so will try my old ones and if that is the case take them back and complain (since they did a fitting service)

ipswich really happy your occupational health service has come through for you and to hear DS doing so well.

MrsHende · 15/08/2012 19:32

Thanks for the good luck for L's first full day at nursery girls.

It was hideous, she cried and I cried but we both survived. I hate having to work full time Sad.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 15/08/2012 19:35

mrsh oh no Sad. In all honesty, it does get better. I think with this age, the separation anxiety is now apparent. What nursery did you go with?

MrsHende · 15/08/2012 19:39

Thanks Fuzzzy, I know you're right. I went with The West End Nursery, on Malloch St between Maryhill Rd and Garrioch Rd.

The ladies in the room are lovely and I know she'll be fine. It'll be much better tomorrow when I start work, I'll be much busier - Engels, you're giving me hope!

I shouldn't moan, I'm lucky to have a job, and one that I like.

CheshireDing · 15/08/2012 22:06

Yeh for the walking Engels :) Go M :)

Aww MrsH I am sure tomorrow will be better.

P went to nursery today to talk about her routine etc too and is booked in for her 2 hours introductory sessions in September :( Don't think she gives a damn though, she was off poking about and picking up plastic toast while we were going through the paperwork!

Ed don't think you are dragging things down, we are hear to listen. Better than bottling it up too.

Fuzzzy did you hear anything on the job front?

IPs That sounds more positive.

Strawberry and Tally are back at work too. I cannot believe that nearly this time last year we were all talking about going OFF from work (double depressed emoticon), how the last 10 months have flown.

Climbing how everything is okay after A&E :(

Sassy cannot believe the twins are TWO :) Cheeky Monkeys !!

Apologises for anything/anyone I have missed.

CheshireDing · 15/08/2012 22:08

Pene how did A's full day go? Did you choose earthquake proof and nearer nursery? Grin

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 15/08/2012 23:14

mrsh I'm not familiar with that one. Did she manage ok milk wise? Good luck for back to work tomorrow!
cheshire no news on the job Angry. I'm a little dissapointed that after them saying I'd heat by last fri at latest, I've still heard nothing! In two minds wither to phone and enquire or just accept that I wasn't successful. I sent my cv off tonight to a lady who runs an after school club in my old primary! The hours would be far better suited at there is the potential for extra over the school holidays. Fingers crossed for this one!!
Got S app for the hospital today about the skin tag in her vagina. She is still doing the thrusting thing so I'm assuming there is something annoying her. Still 4 weeks away but I'm sure it will pass quick.
Started on plans for her birthday Smile. Going for a butterfly themed afternoon tea/garden party. Ordered some edible butterfly cake toppers from eBay for the cake i plan to make Grin. Pinterest is keeping me entertained right now!

Penelope1980 · 16/08/2012 09:35

Cheshire glad the first nursery visit went well! We ended up choosing a nursery a bit further away but earthquake proof. It's really good and I really like it - not just because it's structuarly sound either! Like most of the country I am a bit paranoid about earthquakes after the one last year.

Mrshende I sympathise, being full time too. I find that making sure I make time for things I can't do with a baby in tow - or easily - like coffees and walks and poking in shops - helps.

On working I can't remember if I recommended it before but recently read a book called "Half a Wife" about being a working mum and found it really good.

Penelope1980 · 16/08/2012 09:39

Ooooh first birthday plans! I have enrolled in a cake decorating course as have decided to stop being useless at such things!

Engelsemama · 16/08/2012 19:02

Hi everyone! Have had the most lovely 24 hours. last night DH and I went out for dinner to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. It was so scrummy and really relaxing (MIL was babysitting for us). The today we went down to ILs caravan just the 3 of us (so no ILs Grin ). Really peaceful and feel very chilled out now. Last day of school holidays tomorrow -back to work on Monday.

Nursery settling in mornings went well. Only M is slightly scared of the other children when they play loudly! Bless him. I was at home (across the street) sitting in the garden reading and I didn't miss him at all (fdoes that make me a bad person?! Blush ). He'll be in for first full day next Tues.

ips great progress, good luck next week. DH will have to have his arm twisted a great deal to head out fo a walk with M, but am finding that the best way to get hom involved is to just TELL him (i.e. you feed M and put him to bed, I'm busy in the kitchen).

Took M swimming for the first time today. he loved it!

No more great leaps for Max..think he burned himself out!

My brain is mush...I can't remember what or who else I've missed!

CheshireDing · 16/08/2012 20:15

Will post properly later but there has been a recall on the Cosatto highchair. Just thought I would say as I am sure somebody had one in a picture. Don't know which make but thought it best to mention it just in case.

ClimbingPenguin · 16/08/2012 20:16

DS spiked a fever of 39.8 today and think DD is on her way as well

ipswichwitch · 16/08/2012 22:16

fuzzzy I'll second that about separation anxiety. N has always been fine when dropped off at nursery, but last few days has had a but cry when I hand him over. Staff say it doesnt last long though. They do get used to it quick though mrsH, it's generally harder for us than them!! He even has some friends now, it's so cute!

Oh no cp, N had the same the other week but only lasted 2 days. Hope your DC shake it off soon.

Happy anniversary engels :)

strawberrypenguin · 16/08/2012 22:21

Just a quick drop in as I can't see very well! mrsH tell your DH I feel his pain as W jabbed me in the eye with a peg earlier and I think he's scratched it (my own silly fault was sitting too close behind him while he was playing.) Hope your first day back went well.

CP hope the kids feel better soon

BuntCadger · 16/08/2012 22:51
MrsHende · 16/08/2012 23:13

Oh no to the penguins! CP, I hope you don't spend too much time calpoling before they feel better. SP- ouch! Have you had it checked out? DH felt a bit of a numpty at A+E but was glad he went, he got anti-biotic cream and painkillers. They told him to go to an optician too and the optician told him to get viscotears from the chemist to make it more comfortable till it heals.

I chickened out of the nursery drop off today and stayed in the car and sobbed while DH took L in. When we picked her up she looked a bit teary, one of the girls said she was a bit emotional about the door! She doesn't like it being opened and closed, even if noone is leaving. What a daftie!

MrsHende · 16/08/2012 23:15

Thanks ips, I know you're right. I also know I'll be saying exactly the same things to mums on Tuesday when I have my new class of P.1s (reception). She's just so wee, the youngest in the nursery Sad.

Right, need to man up! Grin

to the lurker...Wink

MrsHende · 16/08/2012 23:17

Happy anniversary Engs and enjoy the last day of the holidays!

Engelsemama · 17/08/2012 07:12

M is the tiniest one in his nursery group as well mrsH. he looks so comical sitting next to the others.

One of the other little girls (maybe about 18mo) cried hysterically when I came in to pick up M on Wed (apparently she doesn't like strangers).

oh no climbing - am going to take Ms temp when I get him up this morning. he was awake at 11.30 and 3.30 and ended up in our bed. I think he's got a cold Sad So not much sleep for us last night (this morning I will be a very lazy lady!).

ouch strawberry M regularly headbutts us and tries to sharpen his nails on my face!

pen I think I may finally have persuaded DH that we MUST go to NZ next summer. I REALLY want to go and see my best friend in Auckland and explore the South Island for a few weeks. I've also hinted that if he doesn;t want to go then I will be going without him Smile

M has helmet hospital appt this afternoon. We could be shot of it, or they might tell us to go ahead for the next 2 months til his birthday.

LittlePebble · 17/08/2012 07:17

Sorry haven't posted in a while I have been lurking. RL has just got in the way a bit.

climbing hope DC's are better x

ed please come and post about everything as everyone has said its not just a baby support thread.

To all those back working, it's hard isn't it, I'm more used to it now but I still hate leaving him. He stood for the first time unaided on Monday and I missed it Sad. I know I'm lucky though that I'm not full time so shouldn't moan!

E is definitely getting separation anxiety now, yesterday he was with my best friend for 2 hrs and he really grizzled until he saw me then grabbed me so hard and immediately stopped

We also have three teeth through all at once so now a total of 7 Grin.

engels and ipswitch I'm struggling with DP at the moment he seems to be a bit low and questioning everything. Spent the whole night the other night talking through his "problems" which mainly seem to centre around wanting more peace and quiet, more space and more time alone (so basically not having E and me there?!) he is so woeful I find it hard not to shake him and tell him to man up. Made me think if you both and admire how you deal with it on a daily basis.

mrsh absolutely fine to hide wait in the car. Mummy prerogative Smile

OP posts:
Engelsemama · 17/08/2012 07:29

I also missed M standing for the first time (was the last day of the school year) pebble - I think he waits til I'm not there!

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 17/08/2012 08:33

cp how are children now? Hope all better Smile
engel happy anniversary! How has first year of married life been? Great news about helmet! Can you see the difference now?
mrsh S has a thing about doors.. She gets upset if our front door opens but then we don't go out it! Hope L gets on better today
lp sorry to hear about dp Sad. Is this new to you that he feels this way? Maybe just a wee down day?

I admire anyone back full time at work. Iv only been looking more at part time as I just feel it would be more like my parents who were raising her than me. Maybe dif if I was in relationship then I guess it would feel more shared.
I got phone call from little girl I used to nanny for last night. Said she is missing me and S so can we go round today after school for a visit Smile. How can I say no to that?!
Think we are hoping to go out for the day tomorrow, either Edinburgh zoo or safari park, but going by the weather today, I'm not holding out much hope!!!

Hope everyone's good

ClimbingPenguin · 17/08/2012 08:39

DS was went up to 39.9 again but ibuprofen is working it's magic. DD is now feverish (and also woke two hourly) and I have a stomach upset :( DH is taking the day of work :)
