strawberrypenguin · 29/07/2012 03:55

Aaaaaaaa W has been awake and repeatedly sitting up in his cot for an hour now, nothing wrong just awake [yawn]

lovinbeingmum · 29/07/2012 09:54

girls - thanks so much!

ips you've got it so right. it's easier to ignore people unless the comments come on a day when he's being fussy already. will try the cream in cereal - it's a great idea. and all the best for the night weaning!

fuzzzy can raisins be given as is? and i've never tried blackcurrant dried pieces. sounds like a fab idea - what a good 3pm snack!

sche strawberry i do realize the milk is less :/. keep trying to give him his meals cooked in white sauce or yoghurt. am also thinking of diluting down his formula with water, say i tsp in 3 ounces of milk, rather than giving just water at lunch. what do you think?

fx for team GB today. rebecca adlington - we want a gold!!!

Scheherezade · 29/07/2012 11:04

lovin have you tried giving more, smaller bottles? He might have more that way. A couple months ago C was having a 6oz bottle first thing, then 4oz at 11 and 3. I cut out the 11am bottle as he has 5oz in his porridge.

ipswichwitch · 29/07/2012 19:20

Was nice to get out thanks sp, I enjoyed the film, DP thought it wasn't as good as the one with Heath Ledger though. Was very naughty and had B n J ice cream and a Maccy Ds after :)

lovin hope today was better for you. Had a fussy day here, and he's eaten v little: few mouthfuls of ready brek (+ cream!), few bites of coconut macaroon, sucked a piece of pancake and strawberry, had a bit of bread roll with 2 spoons of mash (left his chicken and smooshed peas all over the tray) and half a yoghurt. Seems to be teething and hope that's the only issue ad he's not getting chicken pox like his cousin :( he's been crying lots and v cuddly too. Went swimming and he was great at first but half an hour later got whingey again.
Night weaning didn't even get a look in last night. He was v unsettled and waking every hour, and was difficult to settle which isn't like him usually. He ended up coming to bed with me which didn't help him much, just meant i wasn't traipsing the floors all night. Am hoping for a better night tonight but somehow I don't think so

MrsHende · 29/07/2012 19:43

I hope you have a better night tonight ips.

I think we have the pox! Couple of wee spots on her neck and face today, then after her bath a rash on her arms and tummy. She doesn't seem too perturbed yet...but I was just reading the chicken pox thread and a few people say that day 1 lulls you into a false sense of security!

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 29/07/2012 20:09

Eek for the pox!! I was looking into getting S immunized against chicken pox... Still undecided yet.

ips think the teething is starting here too. She has moments where she is very agitated then back to herself 30 seconds later, im thinking she gets a pain in gums then it fades. I put teething gel on yesterday but not sure of how much I actually got on her gums and she was like a little piraña trying to eat my finger Confused

ClimbingPenguin · 29/07/2012 21:14

DD is immunized against the pox and I have been suprised at what a relief it has provided. She can still catch it, but if she does it should be mild.

DH got the job, he hasn't accepted it but barring a fantastic counter offer from his current employers looks like we will be moving in two months

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 29/07/2012 21:28

cp that's fantastic news about dh job Smile

CheshireDing · 29/07/2012 21:32

Lovin I don't think I will say what P has to eat because she eats like a crazy person so I don't think she would be a very good guideline to use as an exampleGrin Yes they can have raisins as they are. What about a toasted teacake with butter? P LOVES those.

Maybe he just looks slimmer to people because he is moving around more so will be burning off some "baby weight" :) I can understand why you would be upset by their comments though, it would annoy me.

How is sleep now for everyone, it's still very hit and miss here, yawn!

CheshireDing · 29/07/2012 21:34

Great new Climbing, where are you moving to now?

ClimbingPenguin · 29/07/2012 21:47

not sure yet as it depends on one other piece of news coming in.

so DS

5:30 bf
6:30 porridge (BLW so who knows how much, some mornings practically nothing, some obviously quite a bit)
8:30 1/4-1/2 a slice of toast
10:30 (ish) biscuit Blush as normally at playgroup. I get the kiddies one for him though and water offered
11:00 small bf if grizzly
12:00 big bf and then sleep
14:00 lunch, rice cakes with hummous and nut butters (he doesn't normally eat the rice cakes but they serve as a good platform for the toppings), or left over dinner with a piece of fruit. As he has been that blocked up I have been opting for a banana as he likes that. Some water offered.
16:00 small bf
17:30 dinner, really variable quantities (from a few mouthfuls to loads) depending on what it is with melon or pear after.
18:00 big bf and off to bed

he has not been feeding then to anywhere between 10 and 11:30pm and then 2-3 hours after that.

he is getting better with his water but probably only has up to 2 oz on average. He is really good with holding it and taking it himself but as it free flow I can't judge how much is drunk and how much is on him. I do try and remember to offer him water elsewhere in the day on a ad-hoc basis.

he went off in his cot tonight with just me rubbing his back and having my hand in there to lean against.

ClimbingPenguin · 29/07/2012 21:50

DD went down a centile at this age with all the moving, I wince a bit when I see photo's of her however being as active as she was means she was clearly fine. We have been conditioned to thinking rolls of fat = best thing ever. I still get jealous when I see chubby babies.

DS got weighed when he was at A&E so I can join in. He was 7.75kg which puts him on the 9th which is where I would have guessed. Just over 17lbs which is over what DD weighed at a year. Amazing the difference between teh 9th and the lower centiles.

LittlePebble · 30/07/2012 08:31

climbing great news on DH job and DS going to sleep in cot Grin

lbm wish I was in London I'm Envy of everyone who gets to go to the games.

I won't tell you what E eats as he's massive judging by my friends with babies the same age he eats a lot more but he is big Blush

Cheshire e loves teacakes but so do I and I have to fit into my wedding dress so daren't buy them!

ipswitch how are your wedding plans going?

Fuzzzy good luck for tomorrow x

OP posts:
lovinbeingmum · 30/07/2012 09:15

ips how was last night?

I had no idea you can immunize against chicken pox Blush - why wouldn't everyone get it done!

climbin congrats on Dh' job and waiting to hear where you're moving

pebble not really going to any of the games but just soaking in the buzz from afar...wondering what are the chances that I'll bump into Usain Bolt shopping for his girlfriend if I hang around designer shops Grin

CheshireDing · 30/07/2012 10:13

Pebble is E going to be a Pageboy?

I think the Chicken Pox jab is quite new by vaccination standards - 10-20 years old at most so wouldn't have been around when we were at school Lovin

This just occured to me this morning and I know there are a couple of you who moved house since the babies were born too. I told our Doctors of our new address in January but as I only saw the HV twice last year (and didn't know about 10-12 months check so thought I would never see them again) it didn't even cross my mind I had to tell them of our new address too. I rang Dr's this morning to ask if the two computer systems talk to each other but she said I had to tell HV separately as even though billions has been spent on the computer system it's still rubbish

ipswichwitch · 30/07/2012 10:17

Yet another awful night :( no spots as yet so keeping fingers x it's just teething and not the dreaded pox. Don't think I can cope with yet another illness right now. Attempted offering water when he woke at 9.30 last night but resulted in much hysteria on Ns part. 2 hourly wakings meant another night in bed with me. He's spent most of the morning screaming, and we've not even attempted breakfast yet [sigh]

Wedding plans going ok so far thanks lp, how's yours coming along? I have the dress, ring are ready, found DPs suit, sorted a cake so not much else to do really. It a small wedding and v simple which is a bonus when it comes to stress!!

Forgot to say when we took N swimming yesterday he was doing proper breast stroke legs and arms, trying to swim! It was so cute :)
Off to make some porridge and prepare for the inevitable scream fest. You'd think think I was trying to poison him

LittlePebble · 30/07/2012 10:42

cheshire he'll have a cute outfit but think we'll leave him to run free. Wedding is fairly chilled affair as in Italy and not in a church.
ipswitch Shock do you have to order rings?!! We haven't even looked at that yet! Cake etc is all being done by wedding organiser in Italy, we're having traditional Italian cake (layers of pastry, fresh cream and strawberries yum!) haven't done much else to be fair Blush
Just spent an hr getting E to nap. DP decided we'd try CC last night and the effect has been utter melt down today and last night until I put a stop to it so going to try PU/PD and not let DP change the plan half way through. I think we have problems as we change our minds on the best way to do it and do E gets no consistency. It's hard though when you're so tired to stick to the plan.

OP posts:
ipswichwitch · 30/07/2012 12:38

lp I totally hear you on the too tired to make the plans work thing. We seem to start ok on night weaning/ sleep training atm, then if it's not going so well we by that i mean DP who nags me until I give up, as we're too exhausted to continue. MIL is here today and being v helpful actually. She's offered to stay over a few nights to tackle night wakings as we think it's pure habit now, and see if we can at least go back to the old routine of 11pm and 5am feeds only. Also god bless the window cleaner who turned up as I was attempting breakfast for N. he cleaned the windows and distracted N so I managed to shovel in all his porridge!! I said I'd pay him to come back at lunch and tea....

We ordered our rings from a small independent jeweller that DP got engagement ring off, but I think larger jewellers should have plenty of sizes etc in stock, so don't panic yet lp Your cake sounds utterly fab save me a piece!! :)

Completely random but is anyone watching the beach volleyball? I keep wondering why they keep on playing that Mexican mariachi band music and random bits of rock in between (kasabian/queen/the zutons/muse etc)??

Scheherezade · 30/07/2012 13:08

Great news cp where will you be moving to?

Q for those that take babies to normal swimming pools, what do they wear? Took C yesterday in just swimming nappy but think he was a bit cold. Went to mothercare but they only had those thin outfits that are more for the beach I think.

ClimbingPenguin · 30/07/2012 14:40

bodywarmer wet suit thing if 29 or lower. DD really felt the cold as had no fat, so she had one with legs and arms that was also fleece lined. Wouldn't do anymore than 30 mins either.

lovinbeingmum · 30/07/2012 16:37

sche this is the one I had got for R www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+baby-wetsuits-in-swim-and-sun-protection+B2091 wish you were close. could have given you his 6-12 months suit which has been used only twice. decided to hold off swimming after he fell ill. i just got it into my head that it was because of the pool....

fuzzzy hope interview went well.......

btw does anyone remember a discussion a while back about ways to entertain babies....fuzzzy i think you had posted a loooooonnnnnng message about things like putting lentils in bottles etc. have been trying my best to locate it - can't. anyone have an idea which thread it was on? over the last few days, R has being going crazy over a blue plastic water bottle we have in the house. i can go for a long shower and come back and he'll still be playing with it without having looked around for me even once:)...got me thinking about that post.....

Scheherezade · 30/07/2012 18:04

Ooh lovin if you wanted to get rid I could PayPal payment&postage??

pinkpainter · 30/07/2012 20:17

I was wondering on ideas to entertain babies too - M loves electrical wires so would like to make her some other options!!

I always took my DD1 swimming in a wetsuit, no matter how warm the water. I also looked in Mothercare for M but they don't seem to sell them anymore. Try searching online - we used funswimshop.co.uk for my DD1s, years ago.

Scheherezade · 30/07/2012 20:41

Pink, I've filled a little basket with different ribbons, would that work?

ClimbingPenguin · 30/07/2012 21:26

mama feel free to pm or fb regarding TSC. Think I caught the gist of it but not sure.

In not poor form news, DS went off again in his cot tonight, again no crying. This time I just had my hands in there for him to play with/lay against, he wasn't bothered about patting or back rubbing. i did have a cd on in the background. Took about 45 mins after the feed but still feels great. Just have to see if it keeps up now.
