Thanks Mama for the title. A new thread hopefully everyone will find us again.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
strawberrypenguin · 25/07/2012 11:28

ips poor N (and you) hope the tablets help

scheh ouch! Ant bites sound nasty (will have to keep W away from the ants in the garden)

LP that's a big interview panel! Fx for you. Hate it when you go for interview and its clear they already know who's getting it feels likes complete waste of effort.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 25/07/2012 13:53

lp fingers crossed for interview, you never know!!

I got a call this morning inviting me for interview next Tuesday's. Trying not to get my hopes up Smile

Sun is finally out in Scotland. Long may it last!!!! Grin

LittlePebble · 25/07/2012 19:17

Yay fuzzzy that's great news (will keep fingers crossed) x

OP posts:
ipswichwitch · 25/07/2012 20:12

Ooh good luck fuzzzy and keeping fingers x for lp

They said he was born with low iron (news to us) and it got progressively lower. Now his solid intake isn't good enough to increase iron, which in turn is giving him a poor appetite and poor weight gain. They don't understand why it's not been picked up before now and were surprised he's never had bloods done since birth. He's eaten really well today though so long may it continue.

scheh hope the ant bites are better, poor C :( will be keeping a sharp lookout for ants in our garden now

CheshireDing · 25/07/2012 21:15

Aww Scheh I hope his "boy bits were okay" Grin

Ips I hope you get mad with them for not sorting it sooner as you had mentioned it a few times anyway. Hope the little guy got some sleep in the end.

FX crossed still for Pebble and next week for Fuzzzy.

Think P actually had Chicken Pox the other week as after a conversion with another baby Mum in class today her baby had same kind of sounding little spots (rather than crusty things) that P had at the same time and now 2 other babies have official Chicken Pox. Apparently babies can just have random little spots and not suffer and it can be Pox but if they have had it mildly it is likely they will still get it properly at a later date. Whopps, didn't think much of it at the time :(

TallyBear · 25/07/2012 22:48

Fuzzzy/LP good luck with interviews/jobs...

Ips hope the iron levels sort out. I wonder why that was not spotted before?

Sch don't feel bad, I'm sure many mums have done the same or similar. He won't remember (prob already forgotten!)

Cheshire if it was does that mean that he's now immune? that would be handy.

We've discovered that Seb loves quiche. I mean loooves it. I gave him a little slice which he shoved in his gob but then got upset as it kept breaking up. I ended up putting it on a spoon and he was much happier. I then picked up a bit of crust for him to feed himself but he just opened his mouth...lazy bu**er! He had almost a quarter of one to himself. This may not be much for some babies but is a huge amount for Seb. He kept crying when he thought it was finished Smile. Also discovered he loves blueberries and it keeps him occupied picking them up off the tray and eating them, hours of amusement. So much so that I'm considering letting him finish the whole punnet, which I love, especially with plain yoghurt, which I have...

TallyBear · 25/07/2012 22:49

Not sure why I starred out 'bugger'! Automatic as I'm so used to curbing my language in front of him...but he's not going to read this!!!

MrsHende · 26/07/2012 15:26

Hellloooooooo!

All very quiet here...

LittlePebble · 26/07/2012 18:27

mrsh Grin

Too busy enjoying the sunshine?

OP posts:
FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 26/07/2012 19:14

Yesterday was beautiful but then typical Scotland was grey and cloudy this morning. Has got better though and sunshine out now!!

Random question, but does anyone else baby want to play with everything but the toys they have? Living room full of things for her but no, she'd rather go into spare room and play with the hair dryer and a brush Hmm

CheshireDing · 26/07/2012 19:42

There has been a baby swap here - P has been swapped for one who slept 1am-6am. I am suspicious.

MrsHende · 26/07/2012 19:47

OMG Chesh! The baby swap fairy was here too! I've got a baby who slept from 7pm till 3.30am

Yes, Fuzzzy, it's remotes and mobiles here instead of the basket of toys!

lovinbeingmum · 26/07/2012 21:27

helllloooooo..back after two days...hope all the babies are ok....mama sassy sche....just reading was scary. can't begin to imagine what you went through in those moments :/

three days of sunshine in london. picnics everyday. loving it in spite of the olympics madness :) :) :)

strawberrypenguin · 26/07/2012 21:37

fuzzy yep I've got a tech boy, remotes, phones, iPad etc and he wants it Grin

Poor boys boiling in this heat he normally doesn't stop moving but he's had several long periods of just sitting playing today.
Hope everyone's had a good day Smile

Engelsmeisje · 27/07/2012 07:43

Okay, first of all recipe for scheh (pasta shells with tomato and salmon sauce). It?s not very precise (one of DHs creations!)...

Cook pasta (we used mini shells, but anything will do) and add broccoli to soften near end. Drain, rinse and set aside.

Sweat a small red onion and clove of garlic in olive oil. Add chopped peppers (half a red and half a green) and cook for a few minutes. Add a handful of olives, some chopped gherkins, some chopped fresh tomatoes or cherry tomatoes. Stir in generous helping of passatta (depends how sloppy you like your sauce!) and a tbsp of tomato ketchup, with some dried Italian herbs (we used thyme and sage).

Stir through strips of smoked salmon which will just begin to ?cook?. Serve sauce on pasta or mix together. Yum, yum!

M has decided that crying in the mornings is the way to go now ? he didn?t do this until last week and now every morning he?s wailing. He?s become really impatient with breakfast as well.

Tally M is turning into a lazy bugger as well, he used to be fine with feeding himself things like sandwiches and breadsticks. At the moment he just holds onto his tray, closes his eyes and opens his mouth expectantly then bawls if I don?t stuff it in his mouth. Or if I put something on the tray he?ll grab it and looking me straight in the eye drop it on the floor or sweep everything off.

Reckon he must be teething. Yesterday he did FIVE poos! Five! And all smelling absolutely foul!

ips sorry to hear about Ns iron. I can?t believe it wasn?t picked up earlier! At least he?s getting treatment now.

Fx for you pebble Hope you had a good day at the beach.

Good luck next week fuzzy

Fuzzzy M wants to play with remote controls, electrical leads, newspapers, junkmail, plants, glasses?everything except his toys.

Anyone else excited about the Olympics starting tonight? I?ve told DH that from 10pm this evening I will be watching the opening ceremony, though a little Shock that it doesn?t finish til 1am (Dutch time). My good intentions of gardening and sorting the house during the summer holidays are going out the window next week ? sure I?ll be watching the BBC all week instead.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 27/07/2012 08:25

So excited for the Olympics tonight! Got my flags at the ready Grin

So bloody tired today. Was up late trying to de clutter the spare room (now in more of a mess than it was to begin with) then S up crying at 3am for an hour then up for the morning at 5.30am. Tried and tried to get her back to sleep, even had her in with me but nope. Ended up getting very p'd off so put her back in her cot for an hour with toys

She is now eating her breakfast and looks like she is ready to nod off. This is all cause she hardly napped yesterday Angry

It's going to be a long day...

pinkpainter · 27/07/2012 08:40

Yes, I'm excited about the opening ceremony!!

Ips - Glad N is getting treatment now.
Sassy - Scary stuff! Makes me wonder whether I should have more socket covers despite the fatally flawed thing.

M is crawling!!!! - At last - At 9 months and 1 day!

Going to have to have a sort out, behind our sofa is a bay window and the whole area is stuffed full of toys from my DD1 - including lots of tiny, choke hazards - have been putting off the job for far too long....

ipswichwitch · 27/07/2012 08:57

yay for crawling pink! still none of that here, but given his anaemia and the fact its caused his poor weight gain i'm not surprised. he is however clapping madly at everything and seems very pleased with himself :)

am very Envy cheshire and mrsH. N is sill very unsettled at night, waking every 2 hours again. we were just making some progress after the gastro, then it all went wrong when we were in hospital overnight monday and has been like that all week :( starting to feel a bit weird from lack of sleep

engels, N likes to sweep food off his tray onto the floor, then all but dislocates his arms trying desperately to reach them and crying when he cant

N has a fascination for the remote, my hairbrush and the cat toys! he likes plastic bottles too, so we filled some with lentils ans water for him to play with. everyone here takes the mick saying we're skinflints for not getting him proper rattles but he has loads of toys, and just seems to like these best

ipswichwitch · 27/07/2012 08:59

and i've discovered that the best way to keep him entertained when i'm cooking is to sit him in his high chair with a wooden spoon and bowl, and he actually looks like he's trying to mix something!! maybe a budding chef...

Penelope1980 · 27/07/2012 09:20

Fuzzy I am excited about the Olympics too! Plan on waking up early to watch the ceremony (due to time difference)

Engels which country do you support?? Was just wondering ...

The Olympics is making me miss London something serious, boo

Engelsmeisje · 27/07/2012 09:40

Team GB! I wouldn't recognise any of the NL team if I bumped into them in the street Blush

Embarrassingly I don't seem to have a single union jack in the house, but have 2 Dutch flags and an orange wig Hmm

DH thinks I'm really sad, he'll probably head to bed at 10 when the programme starts, but I still remember the excitement of the opening ceremony for Sydney (I was in the city for the first week of the games) and the atmosphere round the city was electric. Bit Envy of anyone who gets to be around the Olympic venues for the next 2 weeks. Are they having big screens round the city as well?

Olympic fever hitting the engels household! maybe I should mix a special Olympic cocktail tonight?!

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 27/07/2012 09:57

Yes, S will be going to bed promptly for 7.30pm, I'm ordering takeaway and having some wine and nibbles! S has her union jack top on Grin

ipswichwitch · 27/07/2012 10:51

stupidly we forgot all about the olympics tonight and arranged for DMIL to babysit so we can go see Batman (yaay!), as its the only time she's free this weekend
i'll record it and watch tomorrow, not that DP is too bothered about it all. N has been painting at nursery as they've been making a giant olympic poster, so he came home covered in red and blue paint the other day. something so lovely about kids having messy play. i'm getting him some paint and big sheets of paper for him to have fun with (in the garden!) this weekend

strawberrypenguin · 27/07/2012 11:04

Yay for crawling pink

ips we saw Batman last weekend a good friend of ours offered to babysit. Good film, worth watching at the cinema Smile

Scheherezade · 27/07/2012 20:48

We went to watch team GB play football (poorly) yesterday! Atmosphere was fantastic.
