That sounds lovely lp

We've had a nightmare day! C woke up poorly with a temperature and sleepy. Refused lunch but had some breakfast and all his morning bottle. But we have guests staying so had to go out (our best friend is off traveling round Indonesia for 6months) plus we figured the fresh air would be good for him, and he could sleep in buggy. We went out to Chatsworth for a walk, C was great and seemed loads better, had all his afternoon bottle. Then in the car on the way back he screamed hysterically :(

We were crap at planning and late back, so C didn't have dinner (a jar, slice bread and some blueberries) till 6.30! Then as he was shattered he went to bed, and only had 4oz (since he was full). So we're going to give him the rest as a dream feed. I know its 2hrs at room temp after making, 12 in the fridge, so I figure a half drunk bottle will be fine for 3hrs in the fridge.

Just feel crap for being so disorganized.

ipswichwitch · 21/07/2012 20:08

Don't feel crap for being disorganised scheh, that was rapidly becoming the norm here!!
Speaking of disorganised MAMAi need your help!! You did put a banana bread recipe on here a while ago didn't you? (hope I'm not imagining it!) only I have driven myself crazy all day trying to find the one I used and I'm at a total loss, I have no idea where the hell it is so please can I have yours?? :)

Spent the afternoon at a farm where you get to feed the animals so DP was in his element! N loved it too :)

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 21/07/2012 20:13

ips it's on fb page, scroll down to just under the 'generation' photos Smile

It's rather good. Me and S have been eating a slice on a daily basis now BlushGrin

sch I'm often like that!! I've started leaving a bag of snack size rice cakes and a box of raisins etc in changing bag for the times when I'm a bit unorganized!!

Mamamaiasaura · 21/07/2012 20:21

I'm am going to have to make a couple of loaves tonight as the bananas are over ripe. Wink

LittlePebble · 21/07/2012 20:23

Ooh I still haven't made it

Scheherezade · 21/07/2012 20:28

I took rice crackers and blueberries but he was screaming too much for them, kept properly choking :( think he was just tired and fed up being in the car. Our poor friends had to put up with it in the car, her DP is trying to convince her to have a baby, don't think today helped!

emmazed · 21/07/2012 20:31

sch I have times like that too, Joseph eats so early that it can be difficult to get back in time if you want a day out. America sounds exciting. I would love to try living in another country. I have travelled lots, but never lived elsewhere.

mama wow, she is really progressing! Standing on her own! She will be walking v soon....

lp it makes such a difference having the weather. I took Joseph into the garden today for the first time in ages.

He had a rash over the last few days, the doc says it looks like an allergy, so need to watch out if it happens again and what he has which is the same. I hope it was just random, not an actual allergy to something we have lots

Babysitting for my dbro - 2 kids: one 6 and one 1.5. It has been lovely, but v different to just one 9m boy! Fx they are asleep now

ClimbingPenguin · 21/07/2012 21:07

well ds has tonsillitis and we ended up spending a few hours at the hospital. We are now home with antibiotics. They wanted to keep him until he fed or got bad enough dehydrated for intervention and we were about to be transferred when he decided to latch on. was 20 hours between his feeds with maybe 1-2oz of expressed milk/water in the meantime.

will get DD assessed tomorrow as well and need to relax/rest/possibly sleep while DS is conked out.

Scheherezade · 21/07/2012 21:45

Oh that's terrible cp do you mind me asking what DS symptoms were? Poor you, hope you're holding up ok.

ClimbingPenguin · 21/07/2012 21:53

mostly the not feeding (generally I am unconcerned with solid intake if they are unwell). When he did try and eat some melon, he took a mouthful and then started really crying so it was obvious that feeding hurt even when he wanted to eat. He also had a fever although that went this morning, came out in a rash and was pretty miserable. There were still a couple of little wet nappies and he was only slightly dehydrated at that time (GP said you wanted half the normal fluid intake when ill, although he missed the tonsilitis despite looking in his mouth). Hospital said he had a mixture of red and white spots at the back of his mouth and also had red ears on inspection.

I suspected DD with it as she clearly complains when eating, but she is still taking fluids.

I did try bed but still a bit too buzzed.

Mamamaiasaura · 21/07/2012 22:29

climbing Sad tonsillitis horrible, fx the antibiotics kick in quickly and capillary helps. Glad he latched on, that must have been a relief. Hope they help you dd tomorrow too, and that you get rest tonight x

Mamamaiasaura · 21/07/2012 22:29

Capillary?? Calpol Blush

TallyBear · 21/07/2012 22:57

Climbing oh no, how horrible. I used to get tonsillitis loads at a kid and as soon as the doctor said 'next time we'll remove her tonsils' I never had it again! They must have heard Smile. I hope the antibiotics kick in soon....

We were out shopping today and lunch got delayed somewhat. Poor Seb was as good as gold though (unusual). We ended up in Pizza Hut (not the healthiest I'll grant you) at about 3pm. I'd taken a pot with us and he also had some stuff from the salad bar and two bits of pizza crust, which he stuffed down!

Fuzzy I do the same, we have a 'snack box' with biscotti, bread sticks and rice cakes which is always in the changing bag - just in case.

I feel a banana loaf baking session coming along. Not made it yet and you lot are making me feel very lazy (and hungry). How many bananas is 8oz? I have two, will that be enough?

Mama J is standing already?! She is putting Seb to shame. He is not even interesting in crawling! He will stand with support but wiggles so much (he would win gold if there was a wriggling category in the Olympics!) he doesn't stay up for long.

Mamamaiasaura · 21/07/2012 23:04

tally 2 bananas are perfect. We love pizza hut Blush and jessica snaffled pizza there... [ bad mother emocicon ]

Penelope1980 · 22/07/2012 00:16

Like the idea of a snack box!

What are the best meals you find good to feed you babies? Meals as in something that you and them can all eat. I need ideas

Engelsmeisje · 22/07/2012 07:01

climbing I hope that DS and DD are better soon and that you managed to get some sleep.

M usually wakes up and babbles away to himself, this morning he decided to cry at 6.30. Not sure what's up with him, still trying to find his routine since we got back from holiday?

mama I can't believe J is free standing, and not even 9 months yet!!

Need some good snack ideas too. I think m is getting fed up with things like rice crackers and bread sticks. he likes fruit but what can I make him (apart from mama's banana cake Smile )?

pen most of the time M eats what we eat. This week we've had
-pasta shells with salmon, tomato passata, red pepper and cheese (very yummy but his nappies were disgusting for the next 24 hours - blaming the salmon!)

  • udon noodles stirfry with veg and chicken (we took out M's before we added any chilli or soy sauce...he loved sucking up the noodles!)
  • rice with gently cooked celery, red pepper and a homemade tomato sauce(we were eating the same mixture plus extra seasoning stuffed into peppers with a side salad)
  • last night we cheated and gave him some leftovers stashed in the freezer (mashed potato with spinach and lentils mixed in with some leftover homemade tomato sauce)

I prefer it if we can all eat together (doable at the mo with only one DC!) as DH and I tend to eat quite early. We just tend to remove M's food before we add our seasoning/spices/chilli.

I really hate giving him jars, which we ended up doing quite a bit when we were on holiday the other week, especially when we were in a hotel. He turned his nose up at the prganice supermarket brand here (more than turned his nose up, he really hated it and wouldn't eat it) btu got on okay with the Hipp ones when we were in the UK. I found that they gave his nappies a really weird smell and stained his bum orange! (though I found them quite yummy myself!). I always have one or two in the cupboard in cases of emergency or can'tbearseditis but normally I have something homemade stashed in the freezer too.

PS I'd liekt o point out that I've eaten so well this week because DH has been on holiday. Not sure how wonderful our meals will be next week when he goes back to work Hmm

Off to ILs caravan today. Spent a mammoth 6 hours gardening yesterday so the jungle is partly cleared. Feel like we deserve a day off. Happy Sunday everyone Smile

Scheherezade · 22/07/2012 07:26

How does he manage to eat the rice Engel ? C just seems to get frustrated trying to pick up tiny pieces all the time.

Tried to make an Annabel karmel rice balls recipe and it was rubbish. Rice balls wouldn't stick together.

lovinbeingmum · 22/07/2012 07:36

climbin antibiotics hopefully will kick in quickly...all the best

sche i love the excitement of moving home and discovering a new city Smile have moved at least 9 cities, 3 countries and umpteen houses in 12 years of marriage...tho' not sure what it will be like with a babe...

mama standing!! btw tried the banana bread last week - super popular!

on the subject of snacks, I used apple slices yesterday. he loved it. kept gnawing on it like a little mouse. but bad mom, i didn't think of peeling them. MIL had a shocked face when she saw him with the piece in hand Blush

question for all (using you as the jury since DH and I are having a huge debate) - are you using outlet and plug protectors for baby proofing? i don't see why we should. there shouldn't be any danger unless he uses a wet fork and sticks it into the neutral while he has his finger in either of the other holes. DH is of the opinion, don't challenge him, he'll find some way we haven't thought of, so why take a chance....whatsay?

Engelsmeisje · 22/07/2012 07:47

spoon feeding scheh Blush

Engelsmeisje · 22/07/2012 07:49

our babyproofing is limited to moving stuff out of M's way and hiding wires lovin though over here, they tend not to have plugs at baby level, often built into light switches instead (or hidden behind the sofa!)

CheshireDing · 22/07/2012 08:24

Yes she does do stuff on the potty fuzzzy, I can usually catch the two poos as the are first thing and after dinner, the rest is just putting her own for a wee and doing the sign and a noise. At the moment I am working on the assumption of repetitiveness and sub consciously she starting to realise the potty is better than the nappy! We do have m"misses" though Grin.
How the heck did S suddenly shoot up so much??. At last weigh-in P was around 16lb16 and still on 25th.
pene what about home made pizza, rissotto, chili, curry, or for quick meals (when dh is not here to cook) P likes fish and egg, pasta with veggies and meat or quorn sausage and a sauce. I do panic when he is not here to cook the evening meal though Grin
Poor climbing make sure you eat some more donouts today and rest and I hope DS starts to feel better (and DD doesn't get it!) I hope L does a bit more feeding today for you too, 20 hours!!!
Get J with her advanced baby moves mama
engels for snacks home or out I have done cucumber, celery sticks, pitta bread, humous, Philadelphia on something and fruit just as it is. Sorry dim question but if he likes fruit are you just giving him the fruit, without making it in to something else? E.g. a pear to chomp through himself. You food this week sounds yummy, I really love carbs so potatoes and spinach sounds fit, I could just eat a plate of that for my meal
lovin I don't peel, sod that! Grin

CheshireDing · 22/07/2012 08:25

lovin there is a website, I think it's fatallyflawed and it says for newer sockets it's worse to use covers. I will try and check the link.

CheshireDing · 22/07/2012 08:26

www.fatallyflawed.org.uk

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 22/07/2012 08:44

cp Sad for L. Hope all better soon

This week for dinners I've made

  • home made pizza with peppers, sweet corn, 'quorn pepperoni', mixed cheese
  • bolognese with pasta shells, big hit
  • home made fish fingers with sweet potato 'chips' and broccoli
  • omelette with cheese and broccoli
Blush can't remember what else Last night she had a hipp toddler meal thing. Was for 12 months but she eats lumps fine. Was a chicken risotto thing. I struggle to think of things too. I tend to eat after she has gone to bed but will have something when she does for the social side of it. Her appetite has dropped the past few days, not been as interested in eating. She has always eat pretty much everything but I'm noticing she is starting to have preferences. Broc isn't a big hit, although will eat if mix in things, but just not on it's own Snack wise, she enjoys bread sticks, apple flavour rice cakes, raisins, blueberries, melon chunks etc. also, there are little snack bags by a brand called 'fruit bowl' of chunks of raspberry coated in yogurt. My nanny kids love them so got some for S, big hit! You can usually get the near the baking stuff/dried fruit in shops. Size of raisins so easily ate. cheshire do you have a recipe for curry? I'd love to make her this but don't know how to tone down the spicyness!
LittlePebble · 22/07/2012 09:21

We had pancakes with banana and strawberries for breakfast Grin
