Sad

I can't honestly imagine not havin family around me but you sound like you are doing an excellent job. Great that you got some time to yourself. I really think it is a huge help in lifting your mood. I understand what you mean about being a sahm. I have really enjoyed all this time being off with S but I'm more than ready to get back to work and mixing with adults again. I think it's the company I miss most of all. Is a move looking likely for you then?

ClimbingPenguin · 20/07/2012 22:59

we are both applying for one job each, which if either are sucessful we will move. Otherwise we plan to stay put for another year. I find the uncertainity hard, as I imagine you do.

I should try sleep, despite the fact that DD has woken every ten mins for the past hour (hence the MNing)

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 20/07/2012 23:05

I know, me to. Hope you have a peaceful night Smile

Scheherezade · 20/07/2012 23:21

Re: making bottles in advance, I try to make one when I know he is about due, but sometimes you just can't be completely prepared all the time. He gets v hungry at lunchtime, even though I give him a big breakfast and mid morning snack, so its a case of leaving him to whinge whilst I make food as fast as possible.

Thank god for organix rice crackers!

Scheherezade · 20/07/2012 23:22

Oh, DP has been offered a transfer to America for 18months, which he's going to take!

Mamamaiasaura · 20/07/2012 23:30

Jessica likes cake Blush

Penelope1980 · 21/07/2012 01:51

scheh where in America??

lovinbeingmum · 21/07/2012 07:02

climbing am going to save your post to read again whenever frustration at not getting my way sets in. it's so well e

lovinbeingmum · 21/07/2012 07:05

oops...that was...it's so well expressed.

fuzzzy i found her behavior really cute as well Smile i've actually used his formula bottle till about 1.5 hours after making Blush didn't know i could dunk it straight in the fridge and that would be ok for 12 hours...

strawberrypenguin · 21/07/2012 07:49

Wow scheh big move!

lovin you can use a bottle for up to 2 hours if it's being used. And yes like fuzzzy said make them up as normal then rapid cool in the fridge and they are fine for the next day, so much easier than having to make fresh every time.

climbing hope you got some sleep

Engelsmeisje · 21/07/2012 07:55

scheh M does the same in the morning whrn it's breakfast time. I can't make it fast enough! It's worse if he can see me making it, whereas if I put him in the other room for a few minutes it' not so bad. Mostly I just block him out or sedately say "Patience is a virtue" (like he can understand me Smile ). Harder in public though, at the hotel last week!

Where in the states? I take it you're going to go as a family?

fuzzzy since about 2 months ago M is never lying down when I put him to bed. If i tuck his sleeping bag in he's twisted and up anyway within 30 seconds so I just chuck him in, brush his teeth, put the music on and leave him to it. He's started screaming and crying a bit ince we got back from holiday but he's usually asleep within 5 mins.

was awake between 2 and 3 last night though, not teething or dirty, just wide awake. I got him out of bed twice to comfort him but all he wanted to do was play!

climbing I understand how hard it is to make new friends when you move to an area, especially when you're not working. My job is the main way I've managed to make friends since I moved here and even after 5 years I don't feel like I have really close friends in the same way I did when living in the UK. Good news about the climbing and running.

I like cake too mama Grin

sun is finally shining here. summer? is that you?

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 21/07/2012 08:53

sch that sounds amazing!!
engel sun is shining here Grin. For how long though is the question! Ive got 3 loads of washing to get through, fingers crossed!

Thanks for comments/support/advice Smile. I think I just need to put her into cot and leave her. She is more than able to self settle and I'm sure will eventually sleep Hmm. I went in this morning and she was out her sleeping bag and trying to pull curtains down!
Someone asked about naps and feeding. S takes 6/7oz in morning and same at bed time. I offer her a bottle in the afternoons but she isn't taking much of it anymore, maybe 5oz at most. I put it in her free flow cup if she isn't to tired and she takes some from it, although tends to gulp it down faster than water so gets a bit choked up.
She is having to naps a day. Usually up around 7am then will have nap about 10ish then again 2/2.30pm. Can vary each day though, some will be 1hr20 for both sleeps, some just 30 mins. She tends to sleep longer if she is in her cot as she goes on her tummy which she obv can't do in car seat/buggy.
I know we had this discussion before and it turned into few disagreements, but which next stage seat and you all going for? I tried S out in this yesterday
www.mothercare.com/Britax-Evolva-123-Plus-Highback-Booster-Car-Seat---Jasmin/375148,default,pd.html?cm_sp=ProductFeatures--Category%2520landing--Britax%2520Evolva%2520123%2520Plus%2520Highback%2520Booster%2520Car%2520Seat%2520-%2520Jasmin
which I think I'm going for. Is affordable and will last right through (also love the colour!!) was Angry though as I had an email from mothercare that I missed offering 20% off online.

CheshireDing · 21/07/2012 09:03

Sun here too Engels :)

Poo on the carpet this morning and in the legs of her baby grow and on her hands! I wouldn't mind but she had just been on the potty

Good move Scheh we tried to get in for ages as DH is a Nurse, he had even passed his exams but they are so behind with retrogression it's never going to happen. Are you looking forward to it? Hope you are going somewhere where they have a guarantee summer.

Climbing it does sound like you may have turned a (good) corner now then with L :) Much as it is hard I think you have probably got enough on your plate for now so maybe try and just put your career thoughts on hold until you have moved/the babies are older etc, just for a little bit, otherwise there will be too many things going on. I know over the last week I have told some people I am backing out of some things for the rest of the year because I need to focus on our little family, new job, business and pets, that's plenty for now!

Plus, all the other things will still be there when you come back to them Climbing Grin Shame you are not closer DH has been looking for someone to climb with for ages and it's not really my thing.

I like really love cake too.

Fuzzzy how was sleep?

CheshireDing · 21/07/2012 09:08

Sorry crossed posts Fuzzzy.

I need to look in to the car seat thing for P because I thought as long as their head had not reached the top they could stay in their seat? I need to read up about ours.

ClimbingPenguin · 21/07/2012 09:16

it is fair to say last night wasn't great for either of the two DCs.

DS though is refusing to feed and last fed at 11pm

need to dash, sorry

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 21/07/2012 09:24

cheshire I love that you out P on a potty Grin. Does it work? I'm tempted to get one for the novelty factor!!
I think it does go by weight or head height. I'd say she will prob last till her birthday, there is about an inch space still. I was in John Lewis so got chance to try her in it. Have you had P weighed recently? I took S on Wednesday, she is now 20lbs 13oz! Jumped up to 75th centile Grin

S seems to be off her food, didn't each much dinner last night and now isn't wanting her weetabix.

Mamamaiasaura · 21/07/2012 09:57

Re car seats, I have ds2's [http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_169693_langId_-1_categoryId_165763] which i will use for jessica as he is in booster seat now (britax one with back and side protection)

Mamamaiasaura · 21/07/2012 10:00

I had similar for ds1 too. We like it as it reclines, secure fit, soft and comfy, covers easy removed for cleaning. Considered rear facing import but there was no guarantee on fit and both boys have motion sickness and travelled much bette and happier forward facing. Just my opinion tho. Smile

ipswichwitch · 21/07/2012 10:01

I promise I'm not gloating and am very :( for all of you havin rubbish sleeps, but N slept from 12-5 last night!! 5 uninterrupted hours! That's the best sleep I've had in over a month now, I feel mint! (well apart from the ear infection but I guess you can't have it all). Am sure it won't last though and I'll be paying for it tonight :) that was his sleep routing before he got gastroenteritis, and silly me thought we'd finally cracked it, ha!

Big day for him yesterday, he sits unaided now (with the odd wobble) and claps his hands.

I moved from my home town at 18 (for uni) and never went back. I love it here and have some good friends, but it can be hard being so far from my mam (5hr drive or so) and the rest of the family. My brother lives nearby but is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard (long history)

Where in the US is the move scheh? hope it's somewhere with better weather than we get here!!

ClimbingPenguin · 21/07/2012 10:06

sch there is a living in america thread (well used to be) in the oversea's section which was often frequented by people asking questions about potential moves/visas etc. I lived in California for just over a year so might be help in some ways if you have Q's.

ClimbingPenguin · 21/07/2012 10:08

in CA I was working so didn't feel the isolation like here. you do rely on work for human contact at times don't you. Obviously we were further away from family then, but me working, nice weather, bit more money and only one child made a difference.

ips I have nothing but happiness for you. The person who posted on my fb about their DD sleeping 13 hours however... Envy

Scheherezade · 21/07/2012 10:34

Thanks for the tip cp will have a look. it wouldn't be till next summer so plenty time to prepare. His company expect him to work abroad if he's going to progress, so whilst C is young is the best time, and I'm not tied into a course or career. It's a town in Virginia.

LittlePebble · 21/07/2012 19:11

Just had lovely day in the sun on a boat with E while DP fished and caught nothing Grin

Hope everyone had enjoyed the sunshine?

Lovely lp gardening, swimming and BBQ here (and all housework). Off to idle of wight tomorrow to laze on the beach and go rock pooling :)

Jessica is now standing alone (without holding on at all eek) and clapping Grin. 9 months old tomorrow and I reckon that last tooth will cut through.

Little pickle won't sleep now tho Hmm
