Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
golemmings · 22/06/2012 20:10

I fell off this thread on page 2... And here you all are on p5!

I'll try and catch up in a bit but We have exciting news. Alex slept through last night. He coughed at 4 and 6 which woke me but put himself back to sleep (and I was woken by the bloody cat fighting at 5) but he didn't surface until 7.30. Wonderful, wonderful boy. If he wakes tonight DH is going in to give him a cuddle. He clearly doesn't need milk over night. He is teething and has a cold which is making him more tired than normal which mat help although u would have assumed that that would make hum want to suckle more.

Oh, and I had yoghurt today (first dairy since December dye to boy's intolerance) and he doesn't seem to have noticed. It was the powdered easy yo stuff so I think the protein may have been buggered beyond recognition but it was ok. In a couple of days i'll try some lactose free cheese on toast to see how that is. If he can take it through me, we can then introduce it to him directly and we might avoid formula when he goes to nursery. Woohoo!

Scheherezade · 22/06/2012 20:20

Thanks everyone, I did have a panic earlier planning my funeral and sobbing I was leaving C behind Blush but you've really reassured me.

Hello golemmings seems like ages since I saw your name! Congrats on A sleeping through, fx for another night.

C suddenly really fussy with food. Didn't stop him eating a load of paper I caught him munching through. And a dog biscuit. #badparent.

MrsHende · 22/06/2012 20:54

So Envy go, I'm actually turning a bit green. Well done though!

Scheh, I had exactly the same at my smear in Feb, got to go back in Aug for a repeat test. I'm going to make sure I ask the nurse to be a bit more gentle this time though, I nearly jumped off the table when I got it done. I'm normally totally fine with smears so wasn't expecting it to be quite so uncomfortable - I'll need to remind her that I'm still breast feeding so might need a wee bit more gel than normal!!! Blush

Sassy, so sorry about C's problems, I hope they are resolved soon, poor girl.

I hope all the ill mums feel a lot better soon.

We're in Aberdeen for the weekend to meet our new nephew. DH's SIL had a wee boy two weeks ago, induced a week early for various reasons. The wee lamb is only 5lbs 11oz, he's tiny. His dad is 6'4" and has huge hands which makes him look all the smaller! Can't decide if it's made me broody or not!

DH has stayed at theirs to watch the footie while L and I have come back to the hotel. I can't decide whether to risk putting the telly on now she's asleep in the travel cot. Might just browse mn and finish 50 shades of grey on my iPod. Can't stand Christian Grey I'm afraid Ed (as you used to be!). He's a horror!

Scheherezade · 22/06/2012 20:56

Thanks mrsHende its just the "colposcopy at the hospital within a week" which has me fretting!

CheshireDing · 22/06/2012 20:59

I too am very Envy of your sleep Lemmings but very thrilled for you all the same :)

Penguin I was just looking at the pics of E you put on fb for comparison, there really must be such a massive difference between a baby at one end of the chart to the other, she looks so lovely and dainty though :)

The pic that makes me the most broody is the pic of N on fb in his incubator, he looks GORGEOUS :)

Scheherezade · 22/06/2012 21:08

Cheshire - 12 is fine. It's a 40ish minute walk so I'll just get a taxi. I only know the Debenhams/next to Debenhams entrance, so I can just meet you outside starbucks? Sounds good to me.

LittlePebble · 22/06/2012 22:21

EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy I want a mumsnet meet up! Can't you all come to Devon? There's sea and beaches and ice cream...... Tempting anyone? Wink

MamaMaiasaura · 22/06/2012 22:28

Devon is lurverly. One of my dsis lives Torquay. :)

strawberrypenguin · 22/06/2012 22:36

Where in Devon are you lp we are off on holiday to Lyme Regis with my parents tomorrow. Very excited about visiting the donkey sanctuary in Sidmouth at some point during the week (I'm a bit odd and love donkeys Blush ) if you're nearby I can prob persuade DH into a meet up Grin

strawberrypenguin · 22/06/2012 22:38

Meant to say scheh a dog biscuit won't hurt him they are pretty much just hard baked human biscuits without sugar. Probably quite goo for teething Grin

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 22/06/2012 22:51

I love Devon. Have family there but it's been a while since I was that far south. Just remember it when I was young being a very hilly place!

ipswichwitch · 22/06/2012 23:20

haha LP was about to say the same!! anybody here in the north east???
(if i can ever get to devon LP i'll come see you :) )

:) at cheshire , have spoken to Ns consultant and he suggested we put him back on lactulose, but 10ml 2x per day and try to increase fluid intake. he has pooed again today, so maybe we are getting somewhere......

am watching isle of wight festival, and apart from the hideous problems they all had getting there, with crap weather and all, i'm actually quite jealous. love festivals and gigs. have fond memories of the last v festival me and DP went to, where he rugby tackled some unsuspecting bloke dressed as an oompa loompa because he HAD to have his pic taken with him, and we started a dance (we were prob the most drunk people there at the time...have a vague memory of him shouting about vodka and it all gets a bit hazy from there...)

ipswichwitch · 22/06/2012 23:24

have just gone back and spotted you exciting news cheshire!! how fab, and waitrose is very naice:) was it something to do with pets that youre selling or have i just totally made that up (i am up past my bedtime you know!!)

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 22/06/2012 23:57

cheshire do you offer mates or mn rates on your new pet food?! Wink
Waitrose, very fancy Grin

Penelope1980 · 23/06/2012 00:00

I'd love a mumsnet meet up too! Anyone want to meet halfway? So, HongKong, LA or Singapore? Grin

cheshire A grabbed his bits last week too, it's the first time he's ever noticed them

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 23/06/2012 00:07

I understand this next question may come across as dim but it's always puzzled me. pen you might beable to help me out with it..
Imagining the world and where the counties all are, when traveling from Australia to USA, why do you cross the whole of the world (from right to left) rather than just going 'back' the way from left (oz) to right (USA). Does that make any sense to anyone? please god someone understand what I mean
Surely it would be quicker..?

CheshireDing · 23/06/2012 04:15

Fuzzzy huh? If you were in e.g. Sydney and wanted to go to LA you would fly over the South Pacific and Fiji/Hawaii way etc. That would take 11 hours-ish. You wouldn't fly over Asia, Europe etc. Is that what you mean? are you drunk? Grin otherwise I have no idea what the hell you are on about Grin

"Special mn dog food price" when I am a millionaire :)

DH looked a bit disturbed when I said some of the boys were grabbing their bits, he winced a bit.

Ipswich I love festivals, and the drinking, we were hoping to go to V this year with P but I couldn't get tickets and am not willing to pay hundreds for them, maybe next year.

Strawberry I think we have been to that donkey sanctuary when we were camping nearby years ago, and there were some nudests having a bbq on the beach, (who the bloody dog went over to see), enjoy your holiday

Penelope1980 · 23/06/2012 04:35

fuzzy you fly over the pacific from Australia to the USA. I think. I haven't actually done that trip myself. If someone was doing it the other way around I could only assume it's because there was a stopover somewhere else the wanted to visit. Or had a really bad travel agent.

BUT it is faster to go one direction than the other. Can't remember which though, and it's to do with how the earth spins.

Although part of your confusion could be because of how maps are printed. In NZ and Oz they are always printed (when square) with Africa on the left and America on the right, so us in the middle. My entire sense of world geography gets muddled when I see maps printed the other way around.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 23/06/2012 08:15

Thanks ladies, I didn't think you could go over the south pacific cause of the international date line and I don't think I realized how big it is! I'm sure years ago I heard someone say that when they traveled from USA to oz, they went London, middle east, oz kinda route. Always made me wonder as I thought to myself 'why not just go back the way!' then I thought that maybe you couldn't. All makes sense now BlushGrin. No cheshire not drunk Grin. What's that again?! It's been a long time!!

Think I need to go to Ikea this morning, just pulled S blind off window when I was opening it Angry. Wonderful!!

Engelsmeisje · 23/06/2012 08:29

have got a bit behind but just spat my coffee out at your post fuzzzy (and cheshire 's reply!).

If you fly from N or S America to NZ or Oz and cross the date line then you lose a day. Happened to me when I was travelling - weird to think that Thursday 12th October 2006 I did nothing as I didn't experience that day (left Chile on the 11th, got to Auckland on the 13th and the flight was only 13 hours Hmm ).

I think that when flying from NZ/Oz back to UK it tends to be cheaper going via Asia rather than the US?

M has started pulling himself up onto his knees in the box now, almost to standing.

pebble we are going to be staying in Dorset near Sherborne in a few weeks on holiday Grin

great news cheshire

scheh you've reminded me that I need to chase up the results of my smear. The sister was astounded that I'd already had 3 smears (19, 22, 25) as in Holland they don't start until you're 30 Shock And I agree with everyone else, try not to worry as they often come back as abnormal and it's fine.

congrats to your SIL/BIL Mrs H

great news re sleep lemmings

how's N doing ipswitch ?

M is being supercute this morning, we are just watching him and laughing Smile

emmazed · 23/06/2012 10:10

Now I am a bit concerned how joseph will be when he is older! He always has a little play with himself in the bath/nappy off and has been for months and months! I think the teenage years maybe interesting!

The idea of loosing a day is so strange. I always find it hard working out times in other places. Such an odd thing to loose/gain time. A place near Oz recently decided to move the date line so they were on the other side to help with their trade links. Think they all lost a day....

emmazed · 23/06/2012 10:19

Oh and he just starting clapping. So sweet, he looks so pleased with himself when he does it.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 23/06/2012 10:28

I just love hearing all these new things that our babies are doing Smile

Penelope1980 · 23/06/2012 10:53

That was Samoa I think emmazed. Weird that a day never exisited ...

Oooh a clapping baby! I haven't had that yet, but he has started eating the rubber doorstop. Every day. Must be tasty ...

I am pretty good with knowing the time in the UK because I am on mumsnet so often but have no clue for most of the rest of the world. Although I am getting a better idea of Dutch and Canadian time thanks to when egels and poster formally known as jnice whose new name I forget right now but know it when I read it post ...

Scheherezade · 23/06/2012 10:55

thats so cute emmazed :)

It wasnt so much the dog biscuit that concerned me, as it was a half-eaten (by the dog!) dog biscuit, haha!

C's newest trick is playing the drums with stuff, banging everything together to make noises.
