Tried to post on the original thread and my post got rejected as its full! Have copied and pasted below....

Congrats on the job offer ttl...hope the other one comes up trumps for you too.

Dd isn't quite crawling yet, but would very much like to. She is the queen of the Klingons at the moment, and has a meltdown the second I put her down, look in the opposite direction, or if someone else so much as looks at her. Not all the time thankfully, but definitely for part of every day.

On the bf thing, it's so personal.....I've just dropped doing the afternoon feed myself be cause dd is so distractible that she bobs on and off, which I don't like around other people, and now she finally has teeth the constant latch on/off was really hurting. I just bf once a day, our morning snuggle when she's nice and calm. I would be sad to give that one up just yet.

Wow congrats Esk that's great news!!! Lots of preg viroid mummies! Yeah! Hoping for another soon Val! CC yes house hunting is a mare anything nice in good area of size is mega bucks... We're currently trying to agree the compromises we might be willing to make! I'm going area over size and DH is plumping for size further out.. Sure we'll agree at some point! Random question for straw poll... Is it acceptable to take new job whilst preg?? I have found 2 perfect jobs and nothing come up in my area of expertise for a while.. Have an interview on Friday .. Confused about what I'm thinking going for it.. If I got it could I take it?? Is it legal? Or just bad form!?

Eskarina · 08/11/2012 06:59

Good luck with job hunting dyna. I's sure its legal but you must check out how mat leave and pay would be affected. I forget how many weeks you are but you have to tell employers before a certain time (about 25 weeks I think) but depending on your current notice period you might be close to starting your new job by the time that comes round.

I don't think it's horrendous at all - though I am stressing massively at the moment about telling my work about pg as I've only been there since the beginning of sept and they can't seem to keep nursery teachers as ppl keep getting pg and buggering off Blush mind you there aren't many teachers that would want to work mornings only if they didn't have young dc and there's always the risk they'll want more....

who wanted the christmas bargains thread?

of course you can take a new job whilst pregnant.
pretty sure you won't qualify for maternity pay, though. think you still get leave, but not pay. (but you can claim MA, which is like a selfemployed version)

legal, but not necessarily moral... Wink

Dynababy · 08/11/2012 18:52

It was me after bargains thanks!! Yeah I'm thinking legal but not great start. Sods law means I'll get the job because I can't actually take it! No mat no bother to me as mine is stat only so no biggie to lose out.... But just can't see me taking it anyway.. Not great way to go into an interview ... Applied for the job pre bfp!

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 08/11/2012 19:14

Sorry not posted much. Being feeling bleurgh. Announced my pregnancy to a close group of my friends and made one them really upset Sad. Turns out she had recently miscarried.

Child free tomorrow, so will catch up properly and add some mega posts then.

vallinnapod · 08/11/2012 19:48

Wotcha all.

Loads going on here in that work is just busy, busy, busy and then I have DS - obviously the best part of the day. Bit exhausting. DH is good but...I dunno, seems like he picks and choses when to throw himself into this whole working parent lark Hmm

So, despite saying I wanted to wait until January for my FET I have decided to go for it...had a baseline scan this week but then worked rough dates out and realised DS would be in Oz so back for another baseline next week and then we crack on manipulating my hormones!

vallinnapod · 08/11/2012 19:51

Sorry hit send to quickly Blush

How are all the PGs going? is the time going quicker this time round?

Jobwise, as an employer I would be a bit Hmm at someone joining pregnant but then if they are good at their job it would bother me less. Would bother me less if I knew it was not a first baby too as I don't think anyone knows how they feel about returning to work until they have had at least one Smile

fraktion · 08/11/2012 20:44

dyna I got my job at the Uni pre-BFP, turned up 12 weeks gone, dropped the bombshell after I'd been there a month. Ok so I didn't get the enhanced mat package but I can't have been that bad because they renewed me.

I'm feeling left behiiiiind. And DS is the oldest one on this thread I think!

vallinnapod · 08/11/2012 21:04

Frak I see you in a stupid-ovary-off Wink

CuriosityCola · 11/11/2012 19:39

Val not sure what a baseline is, but good luck for this week Smile

Eskarina · 11/11/2012 21:07

Yes, good luck val... Whatever your baseline scan is!

I think I'm coming round to the idea of being pg again. It was a hug shock last week. Got a bit upset at the dr as I had to go for something else and she wouldn't do the pg stuff at the same time (though fair enough I suppose) and was a bit odd with me "but it says here you discussed contraception advice on X date and now you're saying this one is a surprise...how can that happen?". Have got over that a bit now though - cheered myself up by researching double buggies Grin
I think I'll feel better after I've told people at work - I had to refuse to take a turn at clearing up the cat/fox poo that festoons the garden after their nightly visits and whilst it's not the nicest job in the world I'm usually careful to make sure that I (as team leader) do everything I expect anyone else to do, but I'm not risking that. (normally its the caretakers job but he's off sick and has been/will be for ages)
Have had tonsillitis this week so feeling ick. Then dr gave me a really high dose of antibiotics to counter it and they're just making me feel sick.

Sorry for the me me me. Hope everyone has had a good weekend

vallinnapod · 11/11/2012 21:36

Thanks - it's just to check the thickness of my lining...before they stick me on the pill for a month to get rid off it Confused

Sorry you are feeling crap Esk and at the 'helpful' attitude of your GP.

CuriosityCola · 12/11/2012 08:24

esk when I told the doctor I was pregnant she glanced at ds and then said very very slowly, 'and you are feeling...'. At which point I said I was happy and it was planned and her whole demeanour changed. Was very funny. Yours sounds like a right grump. Don't they know we are hormonal? Anyway, hope you are feeling better in no time.

Val is this a dildocam visit? When I had my early scan it wasn't used, but I seen it sitting in its holster. Gave dh a good giggle when I reminded him of its name. Grin Hope all goes well for you. At the risk of sounding very cheesy, it is very exciting that you are starting on the road to motherhood again. How would you feel about twins?

In other news, been told not to buy ds the vtech garage for Christmas as sil has bought it for him. It was on the Christmas bargain thread Shock. Don't mind her making a saving as it means I can spend less on her two. Last year she requested a video game for them...each! It cost us over £70. I think that is too much to spend on a 4 and 7 year old.

Eskarina · 12/11/2012 13:59

CC is your sil a secret MNer!?

OP posts:
CuriosityCola · 12/11/2012 15:19

That's what I am wondering. Will keep an eye on Aibu for any, 'my sil is so annoying, all she does is throw up and whinge about being pregnant' threads Grin

vallinnapod · 12/11/2012 19:08

LOL, yeah dildo cam. Don't bat an eyelid (or a flap Wink!) at it any more! It's just a scan to confirm bugger all is going on.

I was wondering about the vetch garage...we have three cars which drive me nicely insane. But DS loves them!

CuriosityCola · 12/11/2012 19:38

For some reason I read that as it just being a scam, not a scan Grin

We have a couple of the cars and the race track (birthday present). Avoid the race track! It is really annoying. The slightest movement sets it off. It has to sit away from the toy box or it sings away to itself for ages.

I'm actually struggling for what to get ds for Christmas or to know how much to spend.

vallinnapod · 12/11/2012 19:48

I was thinking of being a complete scrooge economical...ish. DS will get loads of things from relatives if his birthday is anything to go by (and last year when all I asked was for books for him!) and he still won't really know what is going on. We will put some money in his ISA. I have also got him his christmas book and christmas PJs! May just leave it at that.

However, I am really, really tempted to get him a play kitchen.....

Eskarina · 12/11/2012 20:29

Dd has got bits and pieces for Christmas - a playmobil 123 zoo (thanks to the bargains thread) a happyland house (from eBay) and a baby doll - bought long before I knew about dc2!! (actually given how she treats the rag doll that she has I think she's going to need lots of practise with the baby doll before July - she flings it out of her toy buggy and has a full on tantrum if I put it back in!) am desperate to get myself her the ikea kitchen but that will have to wait until we've moved house. She's been so lovely the last couple of days having adopted an old pan and wooden spoon out of the kitchen. She's rather inseparable from them and tried to smuggle them into the car to go to the childminder's this morning! Why am I buying her toys for Christmas?!

OP posts:
vallinnapod · 12/11/2012 20:38

Yeah, DS would be be more than happy with several Pringles lids and the inner trays from a box of chocs...good job we are such gluttons!

CuriosityCola · 12/11/2012 21:34

I am fancying a kitchen for myself ds. Wonder if we could get a bulk buy discount?! Think I have mentioned before that we already have the kids pots and pans set from ikea. Along with the fruit, veg and mini utensils. Ds loves them as they are made from stainless steel. Very noisy and realistic looking.

Putting money in a savings account is a good idea.

nickelrocketgoBooooooom · 13/11/2012 13:54

How much did you want to spend?
i could look at my wholesaler...

CuriosityCola · 14/11/2012 09:00

Not sure to be honest. As little as possible. Are you allowed to link to your website on here? I could do to get some books as stocking fillers. Smile

nickelrocketgoBooooooom · 14/11/2012 10:49

just google nickel books, it'll come up at the top (i hope)
:)

let me check this wholesaler catalogue for kitchens, then....

nickelrocketgoBooooooom · 14/11/2012 10:51
Shock blimey. in this catalogue, they're all wooden and the cheapest one is £30 cost! (and it's vair small)

I'll look somewhere else....
