Tried to post on the original thread and my post got rejected as its full! Have copied and pasted below....

Congrats on the job offer ttl...hope the other one comes up trumps for you too.

Dd isn't quite crawling yet, but would very much like to. She is the queen of the Klingons at the moment, and has a meltdown the second I put her down, look in the opposite direction, or if someone else so much as looks at her. Not all the time thankfully, but definitely for part of every day.

On the bf thing, it's so personal.....I've just dropped doing the afternoon feed myself be cause dd is so distractible that she bobs on and off, which I don't like around other people, and now she finally has teeth the constant latch on/off was really hurting. I just bf once a day, our morning snuggle when she's nice and calm. I would be sad to give that one up just yet.

Val do you think your work would allow 3 days a week? What do you do again?

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 18/10/2012 09:37

P.s. have any of you checked out the bargain Christmas thread?

They are sharing offers like these:

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0052KHP0G/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?qid=1350548385&ref_=sr_1_3&s=kids&sr=1-3

Starting to get little stocking fillers for ds.

nickeldaisical · 18/10/2012 15:39

I know what you mean vall - it makes me feel quite smug when DD is so tired she can't sleep without my milk, even though when she's whingeing after it i feel all Hmm

Dyna ! Grin lovely to see you! have you been away from MN totally then? i thought i'd seen you around Confused

poor DS. i'm avoiding cow's at the moment in case it makes DD's eczema worse and it's a nightmare. are you on formula or still BFing?
14 months! wow. that's really old! Grin
and a BFP too!

I've got loads of toys in the shop for christmas (have got some to upload to facebook...)

Dynababy · 18/10/2012 22:15

Glad I'm remembered and sorry for lack of mn'ing!! Yes ccktc you were baby2b!! Long time absent. Congrats on your pregnancy no 2! Mine also earlier than expected literally 1 time and the deed was done Shock Not sure how we'll cope with no 2 so quickly but hey we will cos we have to! Due date unsure making official with doc next week but early july by my reckoning. Nickel I have not been on mn at all whenever I thought about it something came up.. Sometimes literally! Smile I was dairy free for 9 months and ds bf until 12 months because of his allergy.. Difficult when working! Felt like a dairy cow expressing at work.. Ds can only have hypoallergenic amino acid formula and it was so rank he wouldn't touch it!! Also wouldn't take bottle .. So bm in cup when I wasn't there only option. Now he's over 1 it's a bit easier he now has a better tasting hypoallergenic formula available to him ( post 12 mth only stuff) and will take that mixed with oat milk! If you need any dairy free tips pm me as I have learned ALOT about what's good and not and what has milk and not etc!

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 19/10/2012 16:17

I have barely been able to keep my eyes open today. dynababy have you got any symptoms yet? I wish I had kept my pregnancy diary now. I hated being pregnant so much I couldn't even look at the diary Blush

Trying to eat all the things I love incase I do get bad sickness again. What would be on everyone's list of yummy food to eat during early pregnancy?

Dynababy · 19/10/2012 19:58

Yes I've had symptoms from about 2 days past ovulation! Bloated tummy, then few days later cramping back pain etc.. Now heartburn which was my 1st symptom with ds. I just knew I was preg so early on dh thought I was imagining it but no! What are your symptoms ccktc? Yummy food in early pregnancy .... My toe is currently going to anything cheesy (although that might just be me after being dairy free so long) .... And er chocolate Blush

FeijoaVodkaSpiritsnGhosts · 20/10/2012 10:29

DYNA! Welcome back Grin I remember you (I was confessionsofanachingfanjo) I'm sorry to hear you had so much trouble with DS. I wonder if you have come across this lady? One of my friends has a daughter with food allergies and posted this link on fb recently. Otherwise, a massive CONGRATULATIONS of the bfp GrinGrinGrin No more babies for me, so I have to live vicariously through everyone else Wink

Poor DD has had a high temp for 3 nights/2 days now. She has been awake from midnight til gone 2 the last 3 nights, feeding and thrashing around. Calpol and ibuprofen don't do anything Sad She's very cheerful and bouncy though, even when she looks like a tiny zombie. It's a PITA as it's half term but I can't take DS anywhere fun. And to make it worse my phone crashed and died last night so I couldn't internet and fb while DD thrashed about. Argh.

FeijoaVodkaSpiritsnGhosts · 20/10/2012 11:04

~Val DS may not be acting like he likes you right now, but believe me he does. I went through this with my DS and I felt absolutely pants, thinking he hated me and I was the worst Mummy going. But really he did love me he was just getting to know DH better after being reliant on me for so much in that first year. We have a good relationship now and he tells me often that he loves me (or that I'm rubbish, if he's in trouble).

nickeldaisical · 20/10/2012 12:02

Fej - maybe she doesn't realize that hallowe'en costumes are fake.
Wink

poor thing :(
hope she feels better soon.

FeijoaVodkaSpiritsnGhosts · 20/10/2012 13:36

Took me a second to get that. Haha, yes she would look right at home menacing a zombie escape plan thread Grin vacant stare from puffy, glazed eyes, peering out of a pasty pale face, tripping over her own feet in a lurching manner, hunting down a boob to munch on.

How's the cow dairy free going?

nickeldaisical · 20/10/2012 13:40

it's up and down.
not sure it's helping.

if she'd stop scratching,it'd be fine! GrinHmm

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 20/10/2012 20:19

Val my ds only wants dh when he is around. He cries by the front door when he leaves in the morning for work Sad. Dh had the joy of being the 'real' favourite for a week (wanted when crying, tired etc). Then it reverted back to me for tears and tantrums and dh was really disappointed.

Dyna my only symptoms have been extreme tiredness and not being able to stop eating.

Does anyone know if I can eat halloumi? I think I found this out the first time round and not remembering means I am probably wanting a different answer Grin. Just remembered I have strawberry cheesecake ice-cream in the freezer...yum!

Btw, how nice was the weather today? We went to the zoo (have a pass) as I was starting to get cabin fever. Just thought we would head home if it rained. It was gorgeous. Think we were the loud parenting types though, 'that's right, it's a cassowary!'.

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 20/10/2012 20:56

Meant to say, hope your dd feels better soon FVP.

Eskarina · 22/10/2012 16:30

Cc, you've gone and got me addicted to those Christmas bargains threads! I nearly bought dd the toot toot drivers but hesitated and they shot up to £20 whilst in my basket. I'm not supposed to be buying stuff though as we're moving house - well, hopefully, our buyers have pulled out which is a pain. Sellers are being ok with it so far.

OP posts:
nickeldaisical · 22/10/2012 16:36

yes, you should be able to eat halloumi, it's pasteurized.

nickeldaisical · 22/10/2012 16:40

I'm struggling with the concept of presents Grin

I keep buying stock that I think I would like to give DD, but then I can't give it all to her, because that's just excessive! And then I look at the amount of stuff that she's got behind the desk to play with, and it's just insane. But some of it is "display copy" stock, some of it is charity shop/old toys of mine/given by family, so it's not bad when you look at it like that.

But I don't want her to have "lots of plastic tat" for birthday and christmas this year. I think my little sis is getting her clothes, which is much more practical. and I've asked my big sis to get me fabric to make DD clothes etc with.

Eskarina · 22/10/2012 19:14

Nickel I LOVE the idea of receiving fabric to make dd clothes, not that I ever get time to do it at the moment. We were also clear that we don't want mountains of plastic tat (or pink things! Can't stand the opinion that it's only for girls if it's pink!) and I found that being full of ideas of what I dd would like helped. Depends on your family though. DH's family like the simplicity of a wishlist that they can just order from (and whilst I don't like to dictate the exact item by putting it on a list on amazon it is certainly the easiest way; I'd prefer to say eg a baby doll, not pink if poss, rather than link to a specific one). Obviously I only said anything if asked specifically what dd would like!
Having said that we do have a fair amount of noisy flashing plastic things, mostly either second hand or not of my choosing, but she does absolutely love them. One favourite is a whirlee, they're a cheap, non-bleeping low-space-requirement ride on toy. Dd goes on hrs several times a day. Also just bought a (blue) dolls' buggy for her as she loves the one at the childminder's so much.

But also I didn't actually buy her anything much for her birthday. She had a little life reins backpack from eBay and a couple of outfits from us. Most of the things I buy her are from charity shops/ nct sales / other hand-me-downs; nothing wrong with that at all - good habit to get her into for later!

Eskarina · 22/10/2012 19:15

Oh dear, for someone who has just claimed not to buy very much (well not new at least!) that was a very long post about shopping Blush

OP posts:
nickeldaisical · 22/10/2012 21:43
Grin yes, I've had to specify nothing pink and fucking girly. to family i used the swearword! I've been practising nappy making. I've made a wrap today. it looks good but quite clearly needs practice! but I'm getting there. i find making the elastic bits hardest . oh, and i really need velcro ! ( I've made a wrap with no way of fastening it...)
CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 23/10/2012 13:04

esk I have had to step away from the Christmas threads until pay day. Already got some good bargains Smile

Was just looking at ds's existing toys. He has a lot of cars, but everything is bright and multi coloured. Very unisex. Nickel are you trying to keep things gender neutral or do you prefer boys things more? So does your dd have a tea set etc? I'm considering getting ds the £20 kitchen from tesco. They have a workbench for boys, but it's not like he ever sees anyone doing DIY to replicate imaginary play.

Feeling really nauseous the past couple of days. The smell of ds's lunch nearly made me through up. Serves myself right for being lazy and using a packet!

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 23/10/2012 13:05

Another quick question Nickel. How do you get sewing done without dd 'helping'?Grin

nickeldaisical · 23/10/2012 14:21

I don't, CC GrinHmm

no, seriously, I have a sewing room, that currently is full of all sorts of other crap.
anything that is not valuable is within her reach, and she "plays" with it.
it's great fun Hmm
yesterday, she tipped over a load of boxes and sucked on an old milk bottle (plastic)

if she's been fed, she's okay. If she hasn't, or she's tired, I can get a certain amount done with her sitting on my lap!

nickeldaisical · 23/10/2012 14:23

and your long list of questions - mainly gender-neutral.
the only tea sets i've seen have at lease a large amount of pink on them, but i am happy for her to have one if it isn't pink.

basically, if it's realistic and hasn't been coloured pink/lilac to appeal to girls, then I'm happy.

my family have been told that (when she's older), if that Lego "Friends fucking pile of crap" stuff ever gets presented to me, they will be receiving it back through their underwear.
Angry (the one thing that was supposed to be sacred, and they've ruined it by "making it more accessible to girls")

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 23/10/2012 17:19

I agree with the Lego thing. It has gotten out of control. I'm not very keen on these expensive sets where kids make the item once and it's 'done'. Much prefer a big box for imaginative play.

My friends little boy has a blue tea set, think that's why it came to mind. Sorry for all the questions. Was just being nosey Blush

Anyway, I have a problem. Ds is 'that' child. He is having tantrums. Pulls other kids hair at any opportunity and pinches. He also bites, but that is mainly me for some reason Hmm. Any suggestions? I feel like I need super nanny.

nickeldaisical · 24/10/2012 11:09

blue teaset...

don't have any solutions to the tantrum child sorry Brew

but.
3 o'clock this morning! we were woken by DD - she'd been fidgetty and feeding on and off for an hour or so, but had decided at 3 that it was now wake-up time and that she couldn't possibly sleep any longer.
I was convinced that she'd get all mardy from tired and want to feed back to sleep.
but no.
she was awake
eventually, I gave up trying to appease her and plonked her on the floor with some toys (and the lamp on) and let her get on with it.
Thankfully, it's DH's day off today.
After nearly an hour, she decided that she was now tired, and starting to try to climb back onto the bed. which was hilarious [hgrin] because the bed's too high for her to get up.
so pulled her back into bed and fed her until she went to sleep.

and then when I got up, she started whingeing and crying and would only be pacified by me, even though DH was there, in the bed, cuddling her! Hmm
