Old thread

Hey, here we are again, moving on to the next round of exciting things our little babies are getting up to. :) I hope no-one minded my title, but there hadn't been a big decision and given we were so close to the end I thought I'd just go for it.

I shall update stuff from me tomorrow.

Gd luck for Wed LookAtHerGo hope its a good scan and those babies stay put for you especially through Christmas. I shared a room with a lovely lady five years ago for 2n when I was desparately trying to get my first baby out and she was trying to keep her twin babies in! I regretted not getting her contact details after as we really made friends in those two nights bonding over the irony of the situation. How many weeks are you now LookAtHerGo? Will keep fingers n toes crossed for you.

I had utterly draining week last wk, was horribly ill Wed, long drive Fri&Sat for an emotional funeral, no suprise ended up bed Sun with migraine. My DH been Fab and very supportive doing bulk of childcare so much so my baby went to him when she fell over for a cuddle. Slightly broke my heart but to be expected as I'd hardly been there. Hoping for lots more baby cuddles this week :) counting days till I finish work on 20th :)

falalalalagirl · 12/12/2012 21:18

Sad Ssmile, poor you having such a grim week but good for your DH. Hope you're feeling better now.

And fingers crossed for you Look, I cannot believe how quickly the time has flown by! It feels like no time at all since our not-so-little-ones were teeny-tiny. Just thinking about your double trouble twins is making me broody though. I really hope you get a good rest over christmas and no sudden surprises.

Candr we're also ditching the buggy too (need to get around to selling the thing) and just taking a stroller or the back-pack out with us for when DD gets tired. I've just bought her her first wellies as her feet are finally big enough now. She's not much of a bolter like DS was so I've been pretty slack about reins too but I just know I'm going to start needing them more as she gets quicker!

Had a monstrously busy couple of weeks; work is just full on atm and then it was DS's 4th birthday last week so we had a massive party for him on Saturday. I've got a bugger of a cold which I've given to DD, plus her last molar is coming through so she's dead whingey. I am soooo ready for the Christmas holidays!

LookAtHerGo · 13/12/2012 15:01

Thanks ssmile and falalala. Scan not great, babies both look well, but the upper twin is in a massive pool of fluid so I need to take meds to hopefully reduce the risk of prem birth as the excess fluid creates extra pressure on your uterus. So I'm back again in a week to check the levels again and see if the meds have made a difference, and keep my fingers crossed I don't go into labour before then. I'm definitely not as chilled out this time around as I was last time around! But hey, they are cooking nicely, approx 4lb 3 now, although I would only believe the weights when I actually see the weight.

ssmile, migraines are horrendous, I had one on saturday, it was horrible, thankfully DP was around to look after DD for a bit for me. Sorry to hear about you having to go to a funeral.

falalala I think my DD is not far off cutting her first molar, she's constantly fingers on the one side of her mouth, had a high temp last week for no apparent reason. Will see how it goes if one comes through. She's got 8 teeth now!

Saw her at her nursery 'nativity' this morning, it was about a christmas tree! She looked v cute sat there in her little star costume!

I had 2 stretch marks with DD, I've got a whole fecking road map this time, and I swear I can feel it every time I get a new one, it's like a little stabby pain on my skin almost like needles! Pah. Oh well.

thenewMrsL · 13/12/2012 20:45

Ssmile - hope your getting your cuddles again, and ... not long till the 20th! Yes, sorry to hear you had to go to a funeral.

Falalala - Hols not far now!

Look - fingers crossed for you that the meds work and the LOs stay put for now. Take it easy as much as possible. Really feel for you. And how cute to see your LO in her nativity!! Can't believe she sat there in a little costume - think mine would be raging round too much!

LO has 16 teeth already! They came through about a month ago, and only has 2 that are still growing - the other 14 are there, loud and proud! Kind of glad they all came through at once.

I also bought her wellies this week - can't wait to go for a muddy walk with her! She loves her new (although not that new now!) first walking shoes, so hopefully she'll love the wellies too!

ssmile · 14/12/2012 06:53

LookAtHerGo big fingers crossed the meds work and the fluids go down it must be a worry, I don't know how you do it with another Lo running around must be very tiring. Hope you get to rest over Christmas and let everyone run around you Xmas Smile

I'm having a better week, thanks. It was weird my DH never gets funny heads and he went down with near identical symptoms on Mon eve as I had had on Sun so maybe it was just a bug. Going to any funeral really makes you think deeply about life, I drove home just thinking I really want to appreciate my family more. Gave both my girls a big hug and have tried to be more tolerant this week.

I've tried Lo in wellies but she didn't like them, kept tripping over in them and pulling them off. Is anyone doing a visit to Santas grotto? It's not something we have really done as eldest was too scared and we've tried to keep it a "magic" idea rather than real experience but now I'm feeling under pressure as eldest has asked what its about hmmmm. Wow lots of teeth comin through. We only have 4top 2bottom in middle :)

LookAtHerGo · 14/12/2012 20:26

Thanks both. It is bloody knackering and uncomfortable and I'm a bit teary tonight with it.

MrsL 16 teeth, blimey. Bet she's got a proper proper toothy smile.

We lost a friend a few years ago right before Christmas, it's never a nice time but it seems to highlight it thus time of year :(

ssmile · 16/12/2012 16:29

LookAtHerGo big hugs hope u were able to get some rest this wend. I was knackered in my second pregnancy and I only had one baby growing, what your doing is amazing Xmas Grin my eldest was also older and slightly more able to look after herself not like a mega mischief 15mth old! Hope over Xmas you can rest lots.

ssmile · 16/12/2012 16:33

So have you all got little mischief makers on your hands now? Our Lo has started trying to push her big 5.5yr old sis around and pinching if she can't get what she wants! But I've also found something she will sit still for. At the kitchen table on a normal grown up chair no restraints next to her sister watching her colour in Xmas decorations she emptied all the pencil case one pen at a time then tried making marks on a piece of paper. She sat still for 45mins Fri night I was amazed :)

ssmile · 21/12/2012 07:45

Happy Winter Solistice Xmas Smile

falalalalagirl · 21/12/2012 20:39

Awww, Ssmile, that's adorable! Can't believe your DD2 sat still for that long!

Mine is also into everything and she's just unstoppable. She's getting very good at deliberately winding up her big brother. Atm she likes just tapping him repeatedly on the head, not hard, just over and over again. And she knows exactly what she's doing coz she grins while she's doing it and then laughs when he gets cross. Little toad!

The thing that keeps her quietest for longest is actually her new wellies. We have to keep them on the floor in the kitchen where she can get to them because she is obsessed with them and spends ages trying really hard to put them on. Weird.

She has started having proper tantrums when she doesn't get her own way or when you take something off her that she shouldn't have. She will do the stereotypical thing of hurling herself on the floor and kicking and screaming. DS was really not a tantrummer at all so I guess we're due our share with DD!

I got to go to DS's nursery party today because we finished school yesterday. DH was Father Christmas and gave out all the toys which was hysterical. It's so lovely doing Christmas with a 4 yo as he is so excited and understands everything that's going on properly for the first time.

How are you Look, hope you're able to take it a bit easy.

And love to all. I'm going to go and pour a glass of wine and sit back and watch the apocalypse not happen Grin

ssmile · 24/12/2012 20:00

Finally all is quiet shhhh both girls asleep Xmas Smile I really thought DD1 was going to explode yesterday from Xmas excitement! Presents are wrapped on order from Santa, mince pie n carrot are by the fireplace and dinner 90% pre-cooked spent 3.5hrs cooking this morning. So fingers crossed for a happy Christmas everyone Xmas Grin

LookAtHerGo · 25/12/2012 19:45

Merry Christmas. Hope you all had a good day. Grin

I relaxed, pretty much did no running around after DD, but I'm struggling v much with hip/back pain so on co-dydramol. Ah bugger. But the babies are being all alien like in my tum now, am soaking in the bath.

DD is unwell Hmm temp, coughing and off her food, wasn't too good yesterday either, temp started sun night so I might have to ring ooh doc tomorrow. Fingers crossed I don't.

LovesBeingAtHomeForChristmas · 25/12/2012 19:49

Merry Christmas all x

Misty9 · 25/12/2012 22:19

Merry Christmas everyone Xmas Smile

That's that for another year then. Pretty quiet one here - luckily, as ds is getting another bloody molar (4th one) and was extremely clingy and fractious today. Not to mention off his food. Poor thing. And I'm coming down with another cold. Grr.

On the positives, dh and I snuck into ds room last night to hang his first stocking (didn't bother last year). Felt like a momentous occasion and was so lovely to see him pulling stuff out of it this morning. Oh, and we bought him a wheelybug but it's tiny so we'll have to send back for bigger one - buy the big one if you're getting one! Very cute thing though. Ooh, and ds is walking! Properly now so will have to fork out for first shoes soon I think.

Hope everyone has had lovely day and relaxing evening x

ssmile · 28/12/2012 19:44

Hope everyone had a good christmas and the babies are still doing ok look?

The most played with present here by Lo has to be the FisherPrice Little People noahs ark, she loves all the little animals taking them out and posting them back into the Ark :) The most anoying has to be Glitter Barbie that my DD1 has been playing with as the bloomin glitter goes EVERYWHERE as the mini hoover thing with it is pants! The most dangerous has to be the Micro Mini Scooter with Seat as Lo managed to fall off it reversing it and smashed her cheek bone and head into the table with 5 adults watching...:( poor little mite has massive bruises all down the side of her head. I think her constant cold bug has left her unbalanced its been such a full on job watching her to stop her falling over at the moment! She is starting to show real jealous reaction to me cuddling our eldest she comes over and hits her hard and screechs pushing her off my lap and trying to climb on it Shock I think time out in her cot will need to start soon as she is getting quite physical with DD1 now with full on naugthy hitting when she cant get what she wants. Luckly our eldest is really good with her mostly and very kind not retaliating.

Hope you all have a good New Year. We planning to have an early drink out on the 30th as my folks have offered to babysit, I'd rather stay in now for NYE gosh we must be getting old :o

falalalalagirl · 28/12/2012 22:34

Hope you all had a lovely day. Sad for baby Ssmile and the scooter tragedy! I got a tiny pink helmet for DD for going on hers but it's still too big for her so I'm going to have to take her to Halfords to try one on I think. We haven't tried the scooter outside yet, just under my feet in the kitchen!

We had a lovely family day with my parents and bro and the MiL. The DCs were brilliant and had a very spoilt and lovely time!

Misty we have DS's old wheely bug but we've got the big one. DD does scoot around on it a bit but her legs are still too short really. DS never really played with it much so I really hope DD does.

She is going through a really horrendous phase with her sleep atm. She tends to wake once during the night and DH has taken to giving her a bottle to shut her up which I think is a mistake. He also always crashes out with her on him and then wakes up an hour or so later which means that she is now not self-settling. She barely slept this afternoon because DH went to sleep putting her down and then she woke up when he tried to put her in her cot. He then buggered off and went to work and left me to try and settle her! Angry

She will howl for about 45 mins in the evening when she goes to bed Sad and it makes it even worse if you go in to her as she will have a massive tantrum until she gets picked up (she won't be shushed or allow you to stroke her back or anything). She doesn't stop crying when cuddled though; she just gets all violent and pulls hair and headbuts, flinging herself around and straining to get away.

It is truly horrible listening to her cry but I just don't know what else to do. DS was never like this Sad

falalalalagirl · 28/12/2012 22:35

Oops, meant to say Sad Look for the illnesses and I hope the drugs are doing the biz. Good that you had a nice chilled out day Smile

ssmile · 29/12/2012 08:24

Hugs falalalagirl your Lo sleep sounds SO much like our first DD, its such hard work and we were regulary in utter dispare. All I can say is do what ever you need to do to stay sane and get sleep. If that's bottles then do, we tried to do the "right" thing at each age it made no flipping difference I wish in hindsight in the first few yrs we had just let her sleep whenever how ever. We did have a strict routine which I think helped her and us stay sane where possible, ie bedtime same time, same bath, same lullaby cd, same little light, same snuggle toy. She has grown up into a lively, intelligent young lady and finally started sleeping mostly 9-10hrs once at school. I bought the Millpond sleep clinic book off amazon for tips it helped abit. Good luck.

falalalalagirl · 30/12/2012 13:55

Thanks Ssmile. It's so hard to know what is the 'right' thing to do I think. DS was a rubbish sleeper until he was 9 mo and, give or take illnesses, he's been fine ever since. I get the sense that DD is going to be like me though (she takes after me in a lot of other ways too Smile) and I am still a rubbish sleeper. I am a bit of a routine freak and we do the same thing every night without fail, although there have been a few nights where we've been out after dinner to do Christmassy things and she's been later to bed than normal which probably hasn't helped.

Last night she was in bed by 7, and DH gave her a bottle instead of me BFing her which I think helped because she tends to comfort suck on me and then go berserk when I stop her. She did wake up at 6.30 this morning which I could've done without as I had a hangover though!

I'm going to go and have a look at the Millpond book now to avoid doing any school work

ssmile · 31/12/2012 21:50

Happy New Year :o hope 2013 brings lots of Lo smile n giggles and not too many NooooNooo

candr · 03/01/2013 21:32

Happy New Year all. Glad to hear you had good Christmas's. DS was spoilt by family so it looks like a Toys R Us store room at home now. We got him a trike which he loves going out and about on and is running all over the place now.

He is trying to jump when dancing to music and gets cross with his feet for not leaving the floor. He is a real climber and dare devil though which has your heart in your mouth at times but with most things if you stop him he will do it again and again so am trying to ignore while hoping he doesn't fall.
I have also trained him to put dirty clothes in laundry basket, to clean his face, hands and table after eating and to put toys away. My parents were very impressed, MIL felt I should be doing it all for him.

We have lots of words now which is very funny and also have to cut out the swearing. Realised that hearing your 15m old call someone a plonker isn't as funny when it is a grown up!
Reaaly hope you are all doing well especially those of you expecting. Hope the twins have stayed put for you.
Good luck to those still having rough nights. We are on 1-2 wakings a night whch is loads better and in bed wih me about 6.30am where we sometimes get more sleep.

ssmile · 04/01/2013 22:16

Wow candr you really have your Lo trained :o glad you had gd Xmas &ny, hope sleep gets better soon.

How are you doing LookAtHerGo? Hope little E was ok and you didn't need to call the emerg Dr over Xmas. Hope the hip pain is bearable, you must be on baby countdown now? Have you gone for two cots or one big one to share :)

Iveoouourour kkikitkitckitchkitchen, iinin prep ffoforfor sseselsellselling our house.I been surprised by what bank said they would lend us so we may get house hunting sooner rather than later this year. It would be nice for the girls to have their own rooms and us to get a cot out of our room :)

ssmile · 04/01/2013 22:17

What happened to my post it went all weird!?

LookAtHerGo · 05/01/2013 19:59

Hello all.

Yay for a walking baby Misty :)

Boo to the mini scooter incident ssmile, and fingers crossed for your house sale etc.

Hugs falalala I hope the sleep fairies visit very soon for you.

Candr, well done on the training baby to put clothes away. We're getting DD to put her books back on the shelf after a session of 'read it, read it peeease'

We've got LO saying please 'peease' and getting her to say sorry when she doesn't listen. Her vocabulary is immense now, she is just copying EVERYTHING we say and uses a lot in context, ie pointing to whatever and saying what it is. It's very cute. She also comes out with A LOT that we can't understand. My faves of hers at the moment are 'bisdits' - biscuits and 'woder kind of said like whoa dah - water and walks around with a woder bottle! She also goes 'oh no, fwoor' when she drops something on the floor! Her pronunciation needs some work, but people other than just me and DP can understand her.

As for me. I'm still pregnant :) babies still 'cooking' in me. 34+4 now and massive. Hip pain got a lot worse, to the point I couldn't (and still can't walk without help) so I'm on crutches. Which means I'm bloody useless around the house, my DP has taken some leave off work, and is having some unpaid leave after next week to look after dd. it was really awful over Christmas but better since I got the crutches. Babies are doing well, still got a bit too much fluid, but the doc not at all worried, scan in 2 weeks to check on twin 1 position (lower twin) and if still head down then induction for somewhere close to 22nd feb and vaginal birth to be tried. If he has moved then it'll be a c-section but he's been head down for weeks now and low too for a few weeks, so I can't see there being a problem with it. I'm hoping I will have had the babies in less than 3 weeks time, if not it'll only be a smidge over 3 weeks. :)

LookAtHerGo · 05/01/2013 20:01

Oh and yes, ssmile, thanks for asking, we actually went to the walk in centre of Boxing Day with E, 'just a virus' but after a 3 days of a high temp and her not really eating I wanted her checked. She is totally better now and eating well again :)
