the same:)

Wow - how clever is Harry!! What a star.

Here's to him learing the joy of snooze soon!

calebsmum · 22/03/2006 20:53

Wow at Harry walking and grace talking! Caleb is also a leg limpet but instead of looking up at me saying hello he looks up and screams till I stop what i'm doing and carry him, the only thing at the moment that will placate him long enough for me to get cooking/cleaning done is cheesy wotsits! Caleb says Cat, mum, dada and that. He's standing up alot and has a taken a couple of steps but then decides crawling is quicker. Can't believe how far you can run Jo!! I managed to run 2.7 miles the other week and nearly passed out, would love to be able to run a half marathon, this year i'm doing a kiddies 2 mile fun run Blush

busywizzy · 23/03/2006 12:16

Calebsmum, I think I'm stretching myself doing the Race for Life which is 3 miles Blush Starting to panic already that I might collapse before I reach the finish line Grin

Leo - how is work going, have you spoken to your boss yet?

I feel like a zombie today!! Hannah woke with pains in her tummy at 10pm and I didn't get her back to sleep until 11.30pm. Harrison woke at 3am and stayed awake until 5am Shock Then woke at 6am when we got up. By 7.30, he was really whingy so I put him back to bed (Hannah was still asleep) and I had to wake them both at 9am to get to the doctors. Whilst they were snoozing, I was doing salary reviews for everyone in my department so god only knows what rubbish I've submitted after about 3 hours sleep Blush

Hi Guys,

How are you all? Sounds like your all doing well, just my usually fly-by-night stop-in!! Blush

Ava is walking and is a peach, just like everyone elses baby me thinks!! As she was 2 weeks late, she'll not be a year until April 5th. But happy birthday to all the babes and congrats to us mums, we've made the first year!!!

I have some news though ladies, wait for it, as if by magic and totally unplanned I'm bloomin pregnant again! Just done the test this morning, so I'll probably moonlight on the due Dec/Jan thread before long! Assuming all is well that is, I really ought not to mention at such early days but I cant keep a secret so big!

There goes my life again! Grin

Anyways lots of love and kisses from us

T and A XX

leogaela · 23/03/2006 14:05

Tamula, fantastic!!!! Congratulations! Its really good to hear from you and your wonderful news! Wow, I'm getting goose bumpy and excited..... a little broody me thinks :o!!!

Busy, work is OK, this week I have made a real effort to try to focus and move my f*ing project along so I have time to do something alongside it. I went on a workshop for another project on Tuesday which was soooo nice because there were other women there Shock and some of them from the UK, which made me a little homesick (I miss the ease of communication).
This afternooon though I have got just a little bit annoyed or Angry, I have found out that several people in my department are going for an over night ski trip tonight, this is the first I heard about it and I am the only person not invited.... they assumed that I wouldn't want to go because I would be the only female! Please let me make my own decisions!!!!!

But I like my boss and he is going to make an effort to give me more interesting projects, so I will give it another chance.

Poor Hannah, she is having such a bad time of it. Did you get results back from the doctor?

Pidge - I totally identify with what you are saying about your bonding with Iris. I have been impatient for the baby stage to pass and for Niklas to really be a person who can be involved in doing what we are doing. I think that if we do have another baby I will be much less impatient as I will know what to expect and think I will not feel so pressured and tired with the baby stage as I ahve with Niklas. I regret that I took my mothers comments so much on board (if you remember the 'none of my babies ever cried' comment) because it has been really tiring and stressful for me to try to stop Niklas crying, everytime he cries I feel guilty and can hear her words going through my head.

Last night we went to a friends birthday dinner (at his house), Niklas slept an hour in the car but woke up when we got there. He was totally hpyer and over excited, he charmed everyone and was really hilarious. He often gets hyper if he wakes up again after bedtime and when he is overtired.

calebsmum · 23/03/2006 16:15

Congrats Tamula!! Can't wait to (hopefully) join you later on in the year!

Busywizzy i'm thinking of doing the race for life but I can't run 3 miles Blush would walk half of it!

popsycalindisguise · 23/03/2006 19:28

we have proper proper walking today....one oend of the house to another!

DS! also invented a sign for his own name and harry has been 'saying' it all day:)

popsycalindisguise · 23/03/2006 19:29

wow congrats tamula!

tamula · 24/03/2006 10:14

Thanks guys, I'll keep you all updated... Smile

ukrainianmum · 24/03/2006 10:20

Hi there!my name is alexandra. i had my girl a year ago,19th of march in north middlesex hospital in london.and i went to antenatal classes somewhere at wood green.i am in ukraine now.been here for nearly a year but i would love to find mums whith whom i went to the antenatal and spend those nights in the hospital.

BonyM · 24/03/2006 15:09

Tamula - congratulations! Who'll be next I wonder? (Not me anyway Grin).

Welcome Alexandra, what is your daughter's name?

Rushing...

JoPG · 24/03/2006 17:36

Fantastic news Tamula - how exciting.

BonyM - Can also guarantee that I won't be next. Quite the opposite in fact, am thinking of discussing the option of a vasectomy with DH. I wonder how popular that will be....

Hi to you Alexandra. Are you from Ukraine, or are you British and just living there for a while?

Interesting that we have all had different experiences with our babies. BW and I seem to have been pretty chilled out this time and just let things take their course while Leo and Pidge have been a little impatient to get past the baby stage and onto more interesting things. I was def like that with Ethan and couldn't wait for him to get bigger so that we could do more together, and I did not like the baby stage atall.

Congrats to Harry on the walking. Freya seems to have gone backwards recently, she was standing really well, but now she is quite happy with speed crawling everywhere. At least I won't have to buy her any shoes for a while!

ukrainianmum · 24/03/2006 19:51

i am from ukraine.but spent 6 years in britain.went to ukraine to get help with my daughter from my folks and now cant come back.my baby name is Ksenia Nicole.i hope i will find a new friends on the mumsnet and when finally iwill get the visa we will all meet up.

Pidge · 24/03/2006 21:11

tamula - wow! Brilliant news. Funnily enough I had just been wondering to myself if anyone in our little group might get pregnant soon. In my first antental NCT class 3 of the 6 mums were pregnant within a year! And two are already onto number 3. These are mums whose oldest children are 3yrs 8 months like my dd1! No messing about there.

ukrainianmum - welcome welcome!

leo - I know how you feel being isolated as a woman at work. I was the only female on a team of 15 before I had Iris. Very unusually now I'm on a team with lots of women. It's because all the cutting edge development work is over, so all the super-techy guys have moved on to other projects I think.

I also really sympathise about the guilt at wanting to fix the crying. Iris cries quite a lot. Even now, she's a relatively grumpy girl. This may be a bit unfair to her, as I'm beginning to realise that dd1 was unusually chilled out. She has never had tantrums for instance. Anyway, your mum is clearly suffering false memory syndrome. Babies cry. We do our best to console, but sometimes we don't have the answer.

No walking here. Although just today Iris learned to walk with a little pram - weighed down with 4 litres of bottled water in it! She went tearing around the playground with it earlier.

busywizzy · 24/03/2006 21:21

Welcome Alexandra and Ksenia, it's nice to 'meet' you Smile

Tamula, fantastic news Grin I'm with Jo and BonyM and deffo won't be joining you but doesn't mean I'm not delighted when it happens to others.

Leo, I can't believe that you weren't invited on the skiing trip, I would have been furious Angry

Well here we go again - you're all talking about standing and walking and my lazy boy is still crawling at a snail's pace everywhere Grin He's getting really good at opening drawers and emptying them unfortunately and has a particular fascination for Hannah's room. I know when he's heading in that direction as he gets a real cheeky grin on his face.

Got Hannah's test results back yesterday and they were all clear so the doctor believes everything was related to her virus from 4 weeks ago. I do though have to keep a record of anymore tummy pains she gets and if they keep reoccuring, they're going to have to refer her to the hospital for bowel testing Shock Tubes down her throat and up her bottom won't be well received so it really will have to be something we think long and hard about.

Anyway, had some nice news this week. DH has worked for his company for 25 years and we're being treated to an all expenses paid weekend in London at the end of April Smile A very fancy hotel, a west-end show, dinner and anything we pay for will be reimbursed. Wonder if that includes Clarins face products and a new pair of shoes Grin

Have a great weekend everyone Smile

Clever old Iris and her pram Smile My mum bought Harrison a little push a long truck with bricks in for his birthday. He pulls himself up, pushes it but hasn't realised that he has to move his feet so falls flat on his face. Luckily he screams with delight as he thinks it's hilarious, then gets up and does it again. He gets very cross if something (like a wall) gets in the way and prevents the truck from rushing away from him so he doesn't fall down Grin

Pidge · 25/03/2006 10:34

busywizzy - wow that weekend sounds fantastic. You will return like the bionic woman, all refreshed and raring to go!

LOL at harrison's feet not keeping up with his truck. That sounds a bit like Iris - she can just about keep up with her pram, but her feet are way behind her body, stepping furiously as she careers about. It's quite a sight.

Cristina7 · 25/03/2006 11:05

Hi all. I hope you're all well. Sorry for not writing in a while but I've been v busy with work and home and whenever I came onto MN I got sidetracked by something or another and spent all my alloted time on other threads.

Things are well with us. Sylvia is going through another phase of eating v little. She wants to feed herself but of course she can only get so much food into her mouth with the spoon before she gets bored or distracted by something else. Amazingly, she poos loads, a case of getting more out than she puts in. (I joke with DH that she's discovered some sort of perpetuum mobile.)

I didn't get the job last friday :( Oh well, onwards and upwards. i haven't got any other applications on the go at the moment either. Considering taking some time out till September and trying again then, i could finish my PhD meanwhile and there might be more jobs in the new academic year.

I have my PhD upgrading (from MPhil to PhD) on Tuesday, which is why I'm so busy these days. Now I'm supposed to be doing my slides, DH has taken both to the football so i can have a couple of hours on my own. Tonight I'm going out with some friends.

Have a nice weekend. I'll catch up properly in a few days.

Cristina7 · 26/03/2006 08:48

Happy Mother's Day! I hope you have a nice Sunday.

busywizzy · 26/03/2006 19:16

We've had a nice relaxing day at home today. DH got up with the children and I had a lovely lie-in - heavenly Smile

Had Sunday roast, rice pudding and a glass of wine and settled down to play games and watch telly as it has been raining here all day so not much else to do. Suddenly realised at 4pm that the clocks had gone forward when a film Hannah wanted to watch had already started Shock We had no idea so good job we didn't have plans today as we would have been an hour late.

So fast forward to tea and bathtime. Harrison is now fast asleep in bed and Hannah is playing on her Gameboy for half an hour before she goes too. What a nice surprise to get an extra hour all to ourselves this evening Smile

busywizzy · 26/03/2006 19:18

Oh yes and DH had done all the ironing by the time I got up. What a result Grin

OP posts:
BonyM · 26/03/2006 19:29

Sorry you didn't get the job Christina - hopefully something will turn up for you soon.

Busy - Grin at not knowing about the clocks going forward! I had high hopes that we could use it to our advantage - ie. if Grace usually wakes at about 5am, then she would suddenly be waking at 6am. Well, she must have known somehow, because she actually woke this morning at 5am BST (4am GMT)! Did the usual thing of bringing her into bed and feeding her (only way to get her back to sleep), thinking at least she would then sleep for a good stretch, but no, up and raring to go at 7am BST. What is going on?????

I kep thinking that we should really try and crack the early mornings - ie, no milk until "proper"waking up time, and not bringing her into bed with us, but at 5am (or 4am Sad), it's just so much easier to take the line of least resistance. Also, I know that we could have things much worse on the sleep front.

Grace has now learned how to come down the stairs (after perfecting going up a few weeks ago). Didn't actually show her, but she somehow knew that she had to turn around at the top and go down backwards - she just slides down on her tummy (with one of us close behind) - goes pretty fast, but thinks it's great fun!

ukrainianmum · 26/03/2006 19:56

Hi everybody!Happy mother's day!We had a lovely warm sunny day here in the ukraine after really long very cold winter. It was so nice that we spent 2 hours outside. I have a ?. do you babies walk now?my Ksenia started to walk about when 8months but with my suuport, then about 10 m she remembered that she can crawl.then she had a flu and now she doesnt want to walk at all.only if i give her my hand than she walks othrwise she sits down and crawls.

busywizzy · 26/03/2006 20:39

BonyM, Harrison goes through phases of waking early but I did CC at Xmas to actually stop feeding him (only took one night) so now if he wakes up, I just go in and tuck him in and leave again. I find that if he wakes around 5/5.30 ish, he goes back to sleep after chatting for 20 minutes or so and sleeps until about 7. But if he doesn't wake up then, he usually wakes soon after 6 and I just leave him until sometime after 6.30. I just refuse to start the day earlier than that.

Alexandra, Harrison was one last weekend and is nowhere close to walking. In fact, he only started crawling at 11 months so I'm not confident of any progress here soon Smile

Amazed at Grace getting up and down stairs. Harrison can climb up a few but then tries to sit down (obviously worn out with the effort) and of course, falls backwards as there isn't room for him to sit. I have to watch him like a hawk as we can't find a stairgate wide enough to fit downstairs.
