Fuzzy OMG! I am the same about London, I would live there in a heartbeat!! But then again I'd love to live in New York it's my favourite place on earth! I am the real city girl at heart!! :) Shame DH is not haha!!
No real plans, just booked nice hotel and want to chill and experiment to see how we get on with L! Want to go for a nice walk if weather nice, I think everything will be closed as it's Easter Sunday?!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 05/04/2012 21:09

Bubalie yes please could you post them on FB page? Or I'll post my email there for you.

Bubalie · 05/04/2012 21:10

Ed they are only from Anabel Karmel book, but have worked really well, will type them on fb page, if not tonight then def tomorrow night. Can you wait that long?

FuzzzyDuck · 05/04/2012 21:13

bub yes I'd move to new york in a minute of I could!! I love living in Glasgow, but it's nowhere near the same as a big city!! I couldn't cope being out in the country Grin. I think everything will be closed on Sunday. I'm sure we made that mistake a year before when we were down visiting. Train/tube to find everything was closed Angry. Fingers crosses weather stats nice and you get out a lovely walk Smile

Bubalie · 05/04/2012 21:35

Fuzzy how strange we like the same cities! Thank you, really looking forward to it now!
Ed have posted the Fish Recipe on fb page, just typing others...

Bubalie · 05/04/2012 21:59

Have posted a few recipes on the fb page, L loves them all and it was worth making them. It doesn't really take a long time to do, I still have lots left in the freezer. I hope you find them useful Ed!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 05/04/2012 22:14

Thanks v much, if I can get out before dh leaves for work I'll buy some stuff needed or them and make them over the next few days, pretty sure I'll be stuck in with C anyway.

TallyBear · 05/04/2012 23:14

mama two bottom teeth so far... He's not been too bad with them although i can't speak highly enough of nelsons powder-it's magic. LP I'm ffing so no bitten nips here!! He does bite my fingers though when feeding him his 'baby crack'!!
Cheshire I think there is a chart in the red book with the order of teeth.

Emm sorry to hear about your mum. Fx all the interventions work. I'm sure she loved having j around at this time. well done on his sitting.

Fuzzzy Seb has eczema. It was red and dry on his chest for ages and I'd got some cream already from docs but then he really started to scratch so I took him back and they confirmed eczema. It's hereditary and dh had it when a baby too. We got steroid cream and moisturiser. It's pretty much gone after 3 days. Oh and well done on the plane trip - that's brave. We're going to lake district with family for a hol in August and I'm dreading the 6 hour drive.

elgoldenflower · 05/04/2012 23:14

Gosh this thread moves so fast!

Thanks for all your welcome back messages. Feeling a bit better, had a good HV visit and lots of support from friends and family and think I'm getting a bit of confidence back. Also allowed myself a day in PJs today (first since he was about a week old) and it's really helped to just give in to being a bit laid back.

em think your right about LOs making everyone feel better, their smiling innocence really helps keep you in the moment with them.

HV was v reassuring (along with many of you lovely people Grin ) about feeding to sleep and feeding in the night and told me to just trust my instincts and move things forward when I feel it's right for us - next step will be him moving to his own room in a few weeks (when he's 6 months) so I'll be aiming for that.

Wish I could reply to everyone but I'm going to have to work harder to keep up.

My latest annoyance is that LO has taken to grabbing and pinching a handful of breast whilst feeding Shock which is really painful and I have to hold his hand to stop him (whilst often holding the other hand to stop him scratching his head as he has eczema on his temples). Drives me nuts and makes me squeal and I'm almost finding myself getting cross with him although he doesn't realise what he's doing. He's been such a gentle boy up to now, but this squeezing is quite boisterous. I hope it passes

L has eczema in a few places but I'm reassured it may just be a baby thing by various people. At it's worst his whole face develops angry red bumps that really itch and drive him mad some then ooze a bit then it turns into dry scales. We were prescribed oilatum junior which works amazingly and seems to slow the cycle and we actually get some clear phases in between. He also has scaly elbows and knees and his cradle cap seems to have become aggravated and itchy too recently, apparently it can get a mild fungal infection so poor little dude has a head covered in greasy cream tonight which I'll wash off in the morning and hope that helps Hmm .

Finally can someone tell me how to get on the FB group? Can't find you all on there.

strawberrypenguin · 06/04/2012 11:31

em sorry to hear about your mum, I'm sure having you around must help

Sorry to hear about all the babies with eczema, hope they feel better soon.

FuzzzyDuck · 06/04/2012 12:00

strawberry how is little W?
bub thanks for the recipes on fb! Will def be giving them a try Smile

Went for shopping yesterday as my freezer stash for S was almost done. In the mood to try more for her now, rather than just the veg mush. Made some carrot and parsnip soup with one of her baby stock cubes, but it's still tasteless Sad. I was thinking though, if im making a pot of veg soup for myself with one adult stock cube made with 500ml of water, is it that bad to give her a small amount? Surely the level of salt in a ladle full cant be that high can it? I guess I could buy low salt versions of them.. Ah!! Planing tonight to make her curry with rice. I got a pouch of the Heinz 'cook at home' mild, fruity curry. Fingers crossed!! Also, has any of the mums with 6month + baby's used whole milk in cooking yet? I got a carton last night to try mixing into her breakfast in the morning now. Feeling brave!!

Ok, this is just a ramble. Half watching eastenders and half concentrating on here Confused

CheshireDing · 06/04/2012 16:06

Thanks Tally I will have a look in the red book about teeth :)

Elgolden P grabs me and it really hurts :( I have tried to put her little grabby blanket over my boob for her to grab instead. I totally empathise with you because it hurts so much it does make me annoyed, and she grabs my neck skin too, lovely!

I think you have to private message someone for the fb group name (not sure, someone else will probably confirm, as it's a closed group and you need to be invited), pm me and I will try and figure it out. Unless someone else can enlighten me :)

FD I don't really know (as don't cook) but I imagine there is a lot of salt in things like stock, as otherwise they would probably not taste of much I reckon. There is a recipe on fb for stock which Bub has put on if that's any good. We have used a bit of milk for porridge for P, mostly the porridge has been water with a bit of milk all warmed through.

P had some pineapple the other day, she LOVED it, I think it must be all the juice. She didn't take it out of her mouth.

MamaMaiasaura · 06/04/2012 16:59

How everyone have nice day today. Dh off but all a bit arggghh here.

Collected new car yesterday which everyone but J likes. She screams and screams every journey, hoping that'll pass. Ds1 Has tummy bug and dh is presently at hospital with ds2 as he fell 8ft off a rope bridge and landed on his side. He seemed ok after big cry but complaining his side hurts and it feels different so wondering if ribs broken. Sad

Bubalie · 06/04/2012 17:28

Fuzzy Veg stock recipe I pt on fb wasn't too tasteless and is quick and easy to make - maybe try that? I have used full fat milk for cooking the cheese sauce in the recipes. I think in cooking and cheese etc all need to be full fat. Haven't tried it with porridge yet, but L really didn't like anything I tried (baby cereal, porridge etc>), but has taken wheetabix this morning :).
Mama hope ds ok!

sassy34264 · 06/04/2012 18:08

cheshire not shocked at pineapple.

jacob has/had ezcema. he has had it just a bit at times, all the way through to from head to toes. he was cracked bleeding and blistering on his face by the time i got back from having eva. (the stress of me not being there, i think) he has been prescribed moisteriser for day to day (i forget the name, but can find out) and also steroid cream for when he was bad. he is nearly 20 months now and it barely shows up any more. i think the majority of babies grow out of it.

acidic stuff used to set him off- pineapple, oranges, kiwi and tomatoes. and also stressful events

strawberrypenguin · 06/04/2012 19:17

Sorry for the short post earlier W woke up! He's doing well thanks fuzzzy his scar is healing nicely and doesn't seem to bother him. He's a bit cranky pants at the moment though he's teething like crazy, hands constantly in his mouth.

I've had to give up on making W food as he doesnt seem to like anything with texture yet. Pre made jars are fine and he loves the ones with more flavour, have to try and slowly work some lumps in I think.

mama hope DS is ok (both of them)

FuzzzyDuck · 06/04/2012 19:41

Oh my goodness, S having a meltdown here!!!

PenguinArmy · 06/04/2012 20:13

emm how you doing?

I don't use stock cubes, just flavour it myself with spices etc. Ginger, garam masala normally does enough to give it some depth. If I remember I'll post a simple but tasty squash dal recipe another MNer gave me.

DS has been having dirty nappies in the night and a few of them as well. I assume it's due to changes due to weaning but is a right PITA as he fills them up just before he goes to sleep again.

CheshireDing · 06/04/2012 20:33

God Mama the poor thing, I hope he is okay.

Sassy I too hate towns, I hated NYC, was desperate to see some hills when I left :) I wonder if the tomatoes have what has made P's face a mess. I might leave them out for a few days and re-introduce and see what happens.

must try harder Grin

Our friends (who have a baby 2 weeks younger than P) texted at lunchtime today asking if we wanted to come over for a curry. We said no because it was too late to get food for P sorted, drive over there (they live 90 mins away), walk the dog before we go. I would have meant us only spending about 2 hours max there because P starts getting ready for bed at 6.30pm as she gets cranky. So, DH explained why and suggested they could come to us (because their baby was still up at 8.30pm last night) and we could go to a pub/coffee shop etc, and the response we got was "probably not because there would be nowhere to change him or for him to sleep". Why can he not be changed on his mat in a coffee shop changing room, why can he not sleep in his cot?

I don't know if I am being mean but it really annoyed me, we have been over there twice since P was born and their baby has only been to the GP's when he goes out. It's a long journey (3 hour round trip) so why should P be the one to do it all the time.

Sorry still feeling ranty over it.

elgoldenflower · 06/04/2012 21:27

PA I know what you mean about dirty nappies in the night, L had just stopped them and weaning started them off again, often 2. I have to admit that if they don't bother him I tend to leave him until next feed (always 2 feeds so lots of opportunities to change him).

Cheshire understand your rant, I think you do right to stand your ground and invite them over it's got to go both ways. I can't seem to Private message you re FB group - am I being dim?

Finding it hard to get L to bed before he gets overtired with weaning as we're trying to eat our evening meal with him. Keep trying for 6pm teatime but with home cooking it turns into 7pm and I think he's about ready for bed then. Think we're going to have to eat separately as I can't start having tea at 5.30 - or cook all day (we used to eat at 8/9pm before his arrival). Who's managing to eat with their babies? I guess it's easier if you have other kids. Hmmm, I would like us all to eat together.

LemmeHaveAMiniEgg · 06/04/2012 21:38

Hi all, just catching up. Sorry about your mum emm. Hope she's feeling ok.

Thanks for the advice about blw the other day. We're mixed feeding atm, but the flexibility is fabulous. Started with lumps of banana (which he's good with) and avocado which he's not convinced about and pureed of those, butternut squash and sweet potato. Then we jumped in with both feet and had rice with broccoli and tomato sauce.

Today we had lunch in a pub and dd was minding her own business and getting on with her lunch. Alex swiped a carrot laden fork out of her hand.and swept it, and the carrot into his own mouth. Class! Dd was not impressed though.

Now that he's on 2 meals a day his bf are all over the place. They ate half the length they were but we're upto 9 feeds a day including every other hour overnight. I'm exhausted.

He's also cut his first tooth. It appeared yesterday at 26w exactly. He's clearly read that page of the book.

So I can't work out if its the meals reducing the length of feeds, the tooth causing the increased number of fears or whether its all coincidence. Any thoughts?

PenguinArmy · 06/04/2012 22:33

there is a growth spurt as well around here HmmGrin

DS's skin is too sensitive to leave for a few hours. I should sleep, DDs temp is still spiking to 40.3 when her drugs wear off so just been in settling and drugging her and now off to google when to get more help when 2 year olds have fevers.

Jnice · 07/04/2012 03:19

I'm playing catch up too. Emm, sorry about your mum, I hope having family around is helpful. Fx all treatment works and is as painless as possible.

PA, sorry your DD is poorly - any idea what is wrong? Hope she's all better soon.
