That's really brilliant news air, I also hope they leave you alone now.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/03/2012 14:17

Air That is brilliant news. Let's hope they let you get on with being a great mum now Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 19/03/2012 14:18

for the mental but not fucked up denizens chez Air :o

I have spent a ridiculous amount of money in the last 24 hours. Well, a ridiculous amount for me. I'm having a coffee to calm down now:)

seven77 · 19/03/2012 14:28

lmf bought anything nice?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/03/2012 14:29

LMF What have you been buying? Something nice I hope.

OiMissus · 19/03/2012 14:48

C'mon lmf, share the shoppi! but the danger is of course that we'll all determine that we NEED the same things too.
So far today, I have:

  • Done quite a bit of work catch up (but not the work i need to do)
  • Pulled an amazing amount of snot out of Alistair (i feel like a magician pulling hundreds of silk hankies out of a bemused side kick... only Ali is not amused. it tends to upset him.)
  • fed him quite a bit
  • changed him quite a bit
  • had breakfast and lunch
  • broken my skype cherry! - i meant to do this at the beginning of mat leave, but better late than never. chatted to my mate en France.
  • got a bit excitable about thinking i could nick off to france next week, before rea;lising that a certain LO would need a passport. oops! i also need a passport in my married name. I travel quite a bit with work, so at the start of mat leave it was my intention... ah well, better late than never!
i'll finish feeding him then bathe him so he's beautiful for passport photos. and i'll offthe blue paint from yesterday
OiMissus · 19/03/2012 14:50

insert wash where appropriate

jigglebum · 19/03/2012 15:22

Sounds like there are a lot of snotty babies around. Freya too; although her cough is more of a problem than her runny nose and she is a bit sicky with it. Still my smiley happy girl most of the time though. Also treating me to 10 hours or so sleep at night, so very happy with that.

Sadly DS has also had a hacking cough for a week now and so I have been up with him everynight instead and when not up with him I am often awake listening to his hacking cough. He has also been in a hideous mood as a result for the last week.

Not a particularly special day here for mother's day. DH's family never celebrated it really (MIL is far too self sacrificing for her own good really and raised 2 selfish boys as a result) so I got a small box of chocolates and a magazine. Ironic really as DH criticises my chocolate eating. I also got up with the DCs (as I had my lie in on Sat) and looked after them most of the day. DS was quite naughty. DH got fed up with him and did not deal with it very well. Ended up with me telling him to go out and leave the DCs with me, so he went and faffed around in the garage for a couple of hours - ahh I hate weekends when we don't do anything, DH and I always fall out and more often or not over dealing with DS's behaviour.

Attempted to go to the beach for an hour or so today to give the DCs some fresh air but was bit colder than I thought and hard work to get the buggy on the beach and DS was a bit of a pain (definite trend here I think!) so we came home and are just watching TV. I never wanted to be a mum who found it easier to plonk her kids in front of the telly. I wanted to do fun things with them. We never used to watch much but DS is such hard work at the moment, it is the easiest thing to do. I spend my day cajouling, threatening, counting to 3 etc to get him to do anything, mixed in with moments of loveliness. I am sure he used to be a nice boy. I know it is partly illness, partly glue ear and partly Freya's arrival (and probably partly DH and I not getting on) and I do try to stay calm and praise the positives, ignore some of the negatives and deal with him in a calm voice but god it is hard work.

Sorry long ranty post again .

Air good news indeed

dsm do you fancy coming to do my house too!

plutocrap · 19/03/2012 15:30

All this housework talk has caused me to crack. A bit. I hoovered. Laundry too, although that doesn't really count, as I am quite diligent about that.

Air, that's great news!

plutocrap · 19/03/2012 15:40

Sorry to hear all that, jigglebum. It sounds like a bit of a perfect storm. the potential advantagd of such s vicious circle situation is that if you can solve one thing, the other problems could start to get a bit unravelled, too. tho you said it was cold, spring is on the way and time spent outside does really help. Smile

aethelfleda · 19/03/2012 16:03

Afternoon! My house is a few bags lighter after seeing lovely cousin, and passing on newborn things and having a nice natter... We tried sitting outside in sunny bit of garden on return from school, but it's COLD! So gave up and back inside...

Well done air that's fab news.

jiggle sympathies for the strife with DH. Telly should not be viewed with guilt in these early days: whatever gets you through is the right thing to do (DD1 could sing all 18 musical themes from in the night garden due to the 50 episodes we watched repeatedly while I fed DD2!!)

rice33 · 19/03/2012 16:15

Another snotty nose baby here , however as dh and dd1 both had a very heavy cold and cough , I'm delighted that dd2 has only had a sniffle . I'm putting it down to breastfeeding cos I'm with all ye ladies waking up with chewed nipples and soggy pyjamas so I have to let myself believe there are some benefits Grin

Coconut oil great for cradle cap

Crying baby gotta run but fantastic news air Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 19/03/2012 16:43

I have bought:

A new telly (cheap and cheerful)
A posh digital thermometer to replace the sticky-on-forehead one
Baby monitor
Christening gift for a friend
A kindle
A bead for my bracelet
A dining table and chairs

This pretty much devoured my HMRC windfall:o

mopsytop · 19/03/2012 16:48

Air, great news!

lmf, kindles are ACE!

LittleMissFlustered · 19/03/2012 16:53

It's my 3rd >_

seven77 · 19/03/2012 16:59

lmf that's an impressive amount of shopping.

jiggle I hope your DS's cough and behaviour improve soon.

Today I have:
Done laundry
Hoovered
Cleaned the sink
Played football with DS, read together and done some of his workbook
Started to organise my first HE meet-up

Sick count is up to 7.

seven77 · 19/03/2012 17:00

Gah, make that 8!

msbuggywinkle · 19/03/2012 17:14

You are all really productive today! I am not. Miri is, she can now haul herself to sitting for a few seconds!

Anyway, does anyone have a fab baby bath support they would like to recommend to me?

air brilliant! Hope this gets them off your back.

lmf what have you been doing to kindles?

Off to feed Twinkletoes the unicorn and her ride!

msbuggywinkle · 19/03/2012 17:14

Rider

LittleMissFlustered · 19/03/2012 17:16

I forgot to add I also paid music fees and a portion of my daughter's residential cost for next academic year >_

AnAirOfHope · 19/03/2012 17:17

Sorry about all the sick seven. Hope it all gets better soon. Air is a voty child and often gets complimented on his aim. This time he used his plate to catch it!

Kindals rock.

NorthernChinchilla · 19/03/2012 17:29

I like mmmm's suggestion of making an appointment to relax each day DSM, you should try that!

That's marvellous news air, for you and for your DS.

I can't believe you've not used Skype before Oi. It's been a lifesaver for me keeping in touch with family who are so far away. The quality's not perfect, but it's pretty decent and will only get better. I love it- what did you think?

I'm sorry you didn't have a great time jiggle, and as plu says you'll at least have more opportunities to do things outside in the good weather. There's nothing wrong with putting DCs in front of the TV sometimes- it's what it's there for, and when you've got two to deal with TV is a necessity. You obviously do do lots of things with them, so don't feel bad about a bit of CBeebies or whatever.

That looks like a pretty good shopping list LMF, literally something for everyone! Hope you enjoyed spending it, and you certainly deserved a unexpected windfall- Bob is smiling on you Grin.

We've had a slightly trying day. After all the fun and games earlier, we've been pretty productive, getting down to the shops but especially in the garden. I've potted up, top dressed, fed and unwrapped loads of my pots in the garden, so a very good start.
However, my nap didn't deserve the name- some bloody cold calling arses may their bits drop off one called twice whilst we were trying to sleep, which woke us up and made DS cry (he's suddenly taken against the phone ringtone, Bob knows why) and then just put the kibosh on the whole thing.
Grrrrrr.

And the white noise box that we use to settle DS has just given up the ghost.
Double grrrrrr.

Settling DS was doable, but required a lot of jiggling which hurt my back, and patience, which I don't have!!

plutocrap · 19/03/2012 17:29

Sitting! Shock

seven77 · 19/03/2012 17:30

air it isn't an exceptionally sicky day just a normal one. I just thought I'd keep count out of curiosity. Its so hard trying to be a yummy mummy when there is always baby sick on your shoulder!

OiMissus · 19/03/2012 17:34

They are plotting against us!
Just had snotty projectile vomiting here.
we were all bathed and dressed for a passport photo too.
Now we're in sleepsuit and had a wipe down with a wet one.
i say "we", i'm still covered in vomit.
