PA Grin is she teething?

PenguinArmy · 18/03/2012 21:09

She has been yeah Grin but is also going back into a put everything in her mouth phase. Her canines are visibly a lot more out now and she's stopped crying when she eats now she cries when she walks (actually by the time she went to bed she was alright with walking and was even jumping on the bed). Her new favourite thing is star jumps.

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 18/03/2012 21:12

Evening all and happy moher's day to all those who celebrate it at this point in the year.

IC so pleased for you. Will continue to keep my fingers crossed for your full results.

BBB glad to hear you are on the mend. It sounds like you've been through the mill abit, but very glad you've got some help.

Mous Your DH sounds like mine in the 'bury one's head in the sand' department. I find it very frustrating and it grates with my efficient nature. It sounds like you've got so much going on. I hope you manage to sort some answers soon. My friend with a DD who is bilingual was a very late talker and now, aged nearly 4, has caught up and is clearly a very bright little girl.

Abs I lol-ed at your cranial osteopathy appointment recount. I think I wrote upthread on here about taking both DS with me to the breast clinic recently (or on FB?) It had a similar feel. In fact, I also had my nether regions 'checked' by no less that 3 different sets of people in 1 week during February Blush. And there was me thinking we were supposed to have picked up our dignity on the way out of the delivery suite, having left it at the door on the way in. I think they put mine in storage by mistakeHmm.

SB Hope it goes okay for DS at nursery tomorrow. The dummy removal in the daytime (ready for nursery in 4 weeks) had gone well for the last two days, but today, DS2 screamed and then played in his cot for 90 mins so had no daytime sleep today. Another 3 hours of big boy pants with only one accident this afternoon though which was positive. BC I'm not pregnant, but simply can't quite summon the energy to go cold turkey anyway! You sound like you and DS are doing brilliantly. Hope the last bit of the pregnancy goes smoothly.

BG Could I borrow your car valet?!! Hope your virus really disappears this week. If it wasn't for DS2 currently doing lots of massively deep breaths during his sleep at the mo (whilst cutting the last 2 sodding teeth - me hopes it is the final hoorah for his sleep apnoea), I'd be asking you to send me a few doses of your cough mixture up here for him (or maybe for me?!!) He did sleep through on Friday night but DH randomly reverted to doing stupid things in his sleep (such as leaning out of bed head first (bare bum in the air-he'll love me for adding that to your mental picture!) and searching for some mystery item under the bed at about 2a.m. so my night was equally disturbed, just by him instead of the boys!! (Didn't cause nearly as much amusement as when he used to start being amorous in his sleep and then wake up completely confused, or the night he said, "Hmm..nipple tassles.." !!)

PA Did you get DD's other leg checked before? Are you aware of any bumps that may be causing these limps? If not, might be worth considering food allergy/intolerances. If she's also lethargic etc.., please take her to the GP as it's worth getting repeated unexplained limps checked out. (Not intending to worry you on a Sunday night - there's always one of us on here saying see the GP!)

Mother's Day here has been good, if a little busy. I had a lie in until 9a.m and then breakfast and presents. We went for a romp at a National Trust property and jumped in muddy puddles which was fun. My mum came for lunch (which I mosly prepared, for the sake of speed, as I'm rather quicker than DH). He then cooked roast dinner while I tidied up the kitchen and prepped the house for DH's parents to come for tea. Both boys have been gorgeous today Smile and DH made the plan without me having to project manage, which was fab. I'd done nearly all the week's ironing in the last two nights, so tonight I'm on here and drinking wine.

DS2 is waking during the evenings at the moment. DH is getting frustrated as it eats into our little bit of time together. However, I'm rather enjoying the sleepy cuddles that I get from DS2. I'm very aware that DS1 is not a cuddly boy and rarely wants a cuddle already, despite not quite being 4, so I think each and every cuddle form either is sooo precious. Do make the most of them ladies.Smile

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 18/03/2012 21:14

XP with you two above. DS2 was licking bark on trees at the National Trust place today!!

PA DS1 had a lot of aching joints and limbs when he was struggling diet-wise.

PenguinArmy · 18/03/2012 21:19

Oh Blush DD is limping because she fell off the side in the kitchen BlushBlush. She kinda splated onto her side, no real part of banged on the floor if you know what I mean. Her last limp was due to climbing down off the buggy but then deciding to hold onto a movable object.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 18/03/2012 21:34

Mous so sorry to hear about your friend. FX for the radiotherapy.

BBB hope the recovery is continuing to go well!

Survival arf at your DH's nocturnal antics..!

PA sorry to hear about DD's recurring leg-bangs and limps, here's hoping this one will soon clear up (and she doesn't have any more accidents, at least for a while, eh?!)

Bc wow, the time is going really fast! How are you feeling? Excited? Trepidatious? Love your DS' clock obsession!

BG your Mother's Day sounds lovely!

SB good luck for the nursery sessions.

Abs so lovely to have you posting more often again!

rainbow hope the family visit is still going well.

My Mother's Day was celebrated a day early with a box of chocolates bought on DD's behalf by DH and a family lunch outing to a rather lovely local cafe. We all enjoyed that, DD can't stop talking about it!

I wondered if DD was having teething issues which caused a couple of random awakenings, so I had a proper look in her mouth only to see that all four molars are completely through already! When did that happen?!!

I've been feeling the fetus rolling around inside me since just before 13 weeks, but today I felt the first little kick - funnily enough, it was while DD was on my lap reading a bedtime story, so she got kicked too. She didn't notice, of course but it made me smile. We've decided to properly explain to DD what's going on when we have the anomalies scan - assuming that amnio report Part Two is all fine and the anomalies scan doesn't turn up anything bad.

PenguinArmy · 18/03/2012 21:38

IC :) Even DH was able to feel Nigel from 16 weeks, so maybe yours will join the excitement soon.

as for DDs bangs, I did say she is coming back into a active phase.

Hope everyone had a lovely day

Bearcrumble · 18/03/2012 22:29

Mous - It's heartbreaking about your friend. I hope that the radiotherapy gives him some quality time with his loved ones. It's so sad.

IC I didn't feel anything until 19 - 20 weeks (same as last time) but when I did they were quite strong kicks. I have an anterior placenta this time though, and that muffles early movement.

PA Sorry about DD's bumps - hope her leg is better soon.

Survival Your day sounds lovely.

I am eating apple, crackers and cheese but I cut the apple with a dirty knife that DH had been cutting garlic with so it has an odd garlicky tang. Too lazy to cut up another one though so I am eating it.

We went to Greenwich today. DH helped DS make me a card this morning, and bought me a picture I have had my eye on for a while - it's a paper cut out. It looks a little bit eastern european, kind of like the illustrations Jan Pieńkowski did for fairy tales.

One of DS's new turns of phrase is calling everything 'pretty'. He called me pretty today which was lovely but then he called a digger we saw in the street pretty too... Hmm

He's got really appreciative of food he likes (and vocal when he doesn't like it too). So we either get "DELICIOUS. I LOV IT!" or "Don't like it. Mummy take it away."

I think DH is going to try and go up and see his parents for the day next week - hopefully one of the days that my mum has DS so I can have the house to myself. His dad is recovering well from his hip replacement.

I spoke to my dad yesterday - he is a bit down. He recently closed his restaurant and the person who is renting the premises is opening soon so I think he is a bit at a loose end. Also I thought he'd had the all clear for his bladder growths - that they'd got rid of them completely with various treatments (mainly chemical wash-outs) but now they're saying it looks inflamed so he has to have more. I think the treatment is quite painful - he has to have a spinal every time. He's going to come over a couple of weeks after the baby is born so I hope we can cheer him up a bit.

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 18/03/2012 22:48

Mous I forgot to wish best wishes to your friend when I wrote earlier. I's a horrid disease. Big hugs to you.

IC Loving the kicks between siblings! Good news on the teeth.

PA not loving the falls, but at least you know the cause.

BC DS2 told me today I was rubbish and he was going to put me in the bin!! 'Pretty' would be great!!

Have finally ordered some parenting books and must dash to bed ready for tomorrow's working day.

BabyGiraffes · 18/03/2012 22:51

Waving at everyone... Dd2 did worry me a bit today because apparently everything hurts even if you just look at her. She also fell so many times today and seemed to trip, stumble, run into, fall over etc thin air. Finally concluded it must have to do with her ear infection affecting her balance - if it doesn't settle I'll have her checked over. (I am pretty clumsy at the best of times and I think both my girls may have inherited it Sad).
Funniest thing today was the girls playing in dh's car while he cleaned mine next to it. They had a fabulous time in there listening to he radio and trying out various switches...Grin I looked out the window and dd2 looked like flat Eric sitting in the passenger seat nodding her head to music Grin I should have filmed it.

BabyGiraffes · 19/03/2012 12:53

Re clumsiness, I don't think dd2 has a chance with me as a mother. I have just whacked my kneecap against a doorframe so hard that I am still seeing stars... Also makes me wonder how to wear a dress for a wedding we'll attend at the weekend. Is there make-up for legs to hide my impressive assortment of bruises?

BabyGiraffes · 19/03/2012 12:56

Oh, meant to recommend a book for those of you like me who aren't very 'arty/crafty' by nature... Got this from amazon today and it's brilliant for ideas of what to do with little ones at home Smile. Feeling more confident about the Easter holidays and the long summer break now.

BabyGiraffes · 19/03/2012 12:58

Last post... (should think first and post everything together!). dd2 has decided the clocks have changed already and now expects to go to bed just after 6pm and wakes just after 6am. Seems little point to convince her otherwise with the clocks going forward this weekend Hmm but I am not ready for a 6am start!

AbsB · 19/03/2012 13:49

Ow, BG, that made me wince! I'm clumsy when I have PMT. Last week I think I poured three cups of tea over myself while talking to somebody. I think it's also related to sleep deprivation but I did feel like a real idiot!

Oh BC that is sweet calling everything pretty! DD said "I'm miserable, mummy, so miserable!" last night. She wanted to stay at my mum's and I forced her to come home and it took her ages to settle.
Your dad's bladder growths sound really painful. Poor man, how awful for him. I'm sure he will really cheer up when your baby is born (when is he due?)...

I had a really lovely Mother's Day yesterday. Mum had DD for the night so I woke up at 7.30 (a lie in!), made myself some coffee and sat in bed reading the Guardian for ages (I bought it on Saturday and it takes me about a week to read now!). I got a text from DP saying that there was a box for me in the basement with some goodies. It was packed with a dark chocolate egg, some flower bulbs for the garden, a bracelet, two cards and a big pot of face cream. Well done DP!!! He is finally coming home tomorrow. Yippee!

BG My DD is also up every day at 5.30 now shouting "Mummy, where are you? I want my porridge!" I'm glad the clocks are changing as I'll be able to say she is up at 6.30 (and I might feel more human!).

Right, off to the garden to battle with the stinging nettles!

BabyGiraffes · 19/03/2012 18:12

Abs hmm you may be onto something regarding PMT. Come to think of it, AF is late... Angry just my luck that it will probably coincide with attending the wedding next weekend Angry. Since dc I think twice about leaving the house for a day or two, so a 5 hour car journey and full day wedding celebration is going to be a challenge...

StoneBaby · 19/03/2012 19:28

BG light fake tan to cover the bruises? AF may be late for another reason Grin ?

DS wakes up at 6.30 am every day but if he wasn't I'll be waking him up anyway.

Bearcrumble · 19/03/2012 20:02

We went to Dulwich Woods this morning with my neighbour and her DD and DS managed to get dog shit on his sweatshirt and jeans Sad. Somehow this acrobatic dog must have climbed half up a fallen log and deposited its turd on the side of it - DS brushed past and got smeared.

He had a tshirt on underneath and it was nice weather so I took the sweatshirt off and put his coat back on and just babywiped his jeans. Was really yukky.

Abs baby is coming 2 weeks on Thursday. Bless your DD - she sounds so grown up with her language skills. And what a nice mother's day - you deserved it.

BG Thanks for the book tip.

I saw the midwife today - everything seems ok. The heartbeat was a bit slower (125) but it is still in the normal range. I am a bit anxious over something going wrong in these last couple of weeks. I keep thinking baby is moving less but I dunno - I say that then she moves a lot.

Anyway - final of University Challenge tonight - very exciting.

BabyGiraffes · 19/03/2012 20:26

BC babies moving less in the last few weeks is quite normal because they have so much less space Smile. Having said that, if you think there may be something going on please go with your gut instinct and get them to monitor you as much as possible. I went in asking to be checked when dd2 went ballistic one day at around 36ish weeks. She would wriggle like mad with her heart very fast, then calm down for a bit and be very still. They thought it was nothing to worry about and sent me away. She was born at 39 weeks with the cord around her neck twice (loosely, and she was fine but furious). I still think she got herself a bit tangled at 36 weeks and tried to wriggle out of it.
The good thing for you is that you will probably be monitored more than normal anyway and that your dd is going to be born at 39 weeks, so if there is something like this going on it shouldn't be a problem.

BabyGiraffes · 20/03/2012 13:30

Oops, I've killed the thread... Sad

InmaculadaConcepcion · 20/03/2012 13:35

Pretty patterned tights to hide the bruises, BG?!

I'm sure it'll be fine Bc, although I can sympathise with the mentalling totally.

Great forward thinking by your DP, Abs!! Very impressive, what a lovely idea.

DD had her 2 year check today.
She's on the 25th centile for weight and the 0.4th centile for height!! Which puts her only just below the official bmi for being overweight. The health visitor (a lovely second generation Somali woman with seven children of her own ranging from age 20 to 5 - we are not worthy!!!) wasn't remotely bothered about that and laughed when I told her DD hasn't done a poo for two days, which might be skewing her weight somewhat Grin
Other than that, DD passed all the developmental markers with flying colours and the HV told me she found DD to be a "pleasure" to assess and wasn't I lucky to have such a lovely, clever daughter. I left glowing with maternal pride, as you can imagine Smile

We're very lucky with the HCPs at our health centre. I haven't yet met one who's been anything less than thoroughly kind and likeable. You read some of the comments that people have had on here and it makes me really appreciate our local team.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 20/03/2012 13:36

You don't kill FEB 2010 that easily, BG Grin

BabyGiraffes · 20/03/2012 13:43

Phew, I thought you'd all gone... Grin

SocietyClowns · 20/03/2012 13:50

Feel like a name change... maybe that will revive the thread Wink

IC Like the idea of the patterned tights, although with a flowery dress I may look odd (unless I find some shrubs in bloom and can blend in Grin). It's a big wedding so I doubt anyone will notice me or my very pretty purple knee.

Mous All okay with you?

PA Keep forgetting to say I smiled reading your description of your ds loving to watch his big sister Smile. My dd2 was/is the same and thinks her big sister is the most amazing being she has ever encountered Wink.

Bearcrumble · 20/03/2012 18:25

BBB - so sorry, for some reason I missed your post about your op. Hope you are recovering steadily and feel back to normal very soon. xx

InmaculadaConcepcion · 20/03/2012 19:03

Just had DD eating rice with enthusiasm - she usually turns her nose up, but mulching it up with Dairy Lea (!) persuaded her otherwise. Next stop, risotto (with added cream cheese...!)
