Huge congrats monkey - hope you're getting lots of help and pampering x

littlemonkeybix · 23/03/2012 05:46

Did anyone else get "coupling"

hermionejgranger · 25/03/2012 03:15

Hello... Hope everyone is OK and enjoying babies! :-)

hermionejgranger · 25/03/2012 03:15

Peeks, even...

ZhenThereWereTwo · 25/03/2012 09:22

Hello HJG and everyone :)

Just got back home after time away for builders to finish kitchen and bathroom (still not finished am Angry, but that's another story).

Little N is cluster feeding for 3 hour stretches at the moment, but is sleeping well at night so I am quite rested.

Feeling a lot better after EMCS apart from lifting DD and heavy things can do most stuff now and the weather has been lovely, so enjoying getting out and about with DD1.

How is everyone else?

Emz33 · 26/03/2012 04:21

Hi all! Hope all the mummies and babies are well.

I have to stop breast feeding for a week because of some medication I need to take. This has really upset me which is strange as I was never one of these b/f is the be all and end all type of people but I have been really lucky and me and lo have found it pretty easy to get the hang of so I'm totally gutted I might have to suddenly stop.

Is it possible to stop for a week until I've finished my course of drugs and then restart? Will lo be able to switch from breast to bottle to breast again? He's only 4 weeks old. Will my milk still be there after a week?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Am so sad about the prospect of having to stop b/f for good already. Sad

Ps not sure where was a good place to post this!

littlemonkeybix · 26/03/2012 09:57

Can you continue to express while medicated ... that'll keep your flow going won't it?!

ZhenThereWereTwo · 26/03/2012 19:20

You can pump and dump to keep up your supply whilst taking medication. You will need to pump minimum every 3 hours to keep up the supply, but if you do pump less your supply will quickly increase to demand once you re-start feeding. Some good advice here

It is worth calling the Breastfeeding Network to find out whether you actually have to stop as they regularly review the latest research and often are more up to date than GP's.

deardear · 28/03/2012 19:59

Hi guys. Think I posted my birth but Harry arrived on leap years day in a huge rush!

All going ok. Have started FF top ups as I really can't keep up with him. He is only having 2 oz about 3 times a day though. Off to Bristol tomorrow and then stopping with my nan and auntie for a few days.

I can understand people not wanting pics on FB. I am an avid Fbooker but have my profile limited to who can see what. I don't want my one SIL seeing photos so she is blocked and another friend blocked from Harry's pics.

Nice to see the bus complete. I will try and post in here more often. Haven't had a lot of time what with school runs and the menagerie we have here.

Harry has poo issues as well. Only goes once a day max. Farts all night and all day then has a mega poo. Really grumpy other times as he has tummy ache.

He loves a bath although he has sharted in with me a couple of times! Oops.

ZhenThereWereTwo · 29/03/2012 17:00

Hi deardear, my nieces are FF and always have problems with poos and farting, my SIL swears by a teaspoon full of fresh orange juice and weak fennel and camomile tea.

Just got my new baby wrap today from Joy and Joe for £16 inc p&p brilliant can actually get something done around the house now whilst bfing as little N is a constant boob fiend. I have a BabyBjorn which is very comfortable and DH likes it, but you can't feed in it. Two hands free, yay!

notcitrus · 30/03/2012 15:13

Which wrap did you get zhen? I have a Moby and a Sleepywrap which are great but if I tried feeding her the wrap would be too loose for carrying after. The BabyBjorn did my back in after 3 weeks so its going on EBay. Better than the totally crappy Tomy carrier though. Was also given a Closer which gets great reviews but I can't figure out how to get it on, and a Roobaby which is linen so mightbe good for summer.

Dd seems to be finally sleeping better and feeding without so much air involved, though she can squirt poo an amazing distance. So with a bit more sleep and less having to carry her, and meeting some new local mind, I might be able to fend off the PND that's lurking. Basically I'm worrying about the kids way too much. Luckily there is a lovely HV and GP who are keeping eyes on me.

ZhenThereWereTwo · 30/03/2012 23:03

Hi NC its is a stretchy wrap like the Moby, just cheaper alternative see here. I fed her by dropping one shoulder strap down and adjusting her downwards onto breast . Then I adjusted her position back up again, but if wrap is too loose after feeding I would pop her out tighten it and pop her back in again. Obviously not so easy if you are out and about, but you could pull slack through to tighten with baby in the wrap then loosen knot and re-tie.

Enraha · 11/04/2012 15:21

Hello-oooo, anyone there???

Well DS at grand old age of 10 weeks. Jeez-oh it's been hard work. Still BF despite a stupid amount of health problems. Going to get investigated at clinic next week for a hard lump that won't shift, had mastitis 3 times and ductal thrush. Not exactly enjoyable yet, but now starting to get a bit more personality from DS, which is lovely. Although the evenings are still mainly occupied with feeding and crying (DS, not me Smile).

So much for being chilled out and relaxed for number two. How's everyone else?

QueenFee · 16/04/2012 15:13

Oh no you sound like you have had a right time of it :( were coping here but very much the duckpond calm on the surface but paddling like mad to keep afloat! And the washing is non stop. Louis is just growing out of colic and settling into some routine

Ooh this thread is so quiet now :-( feeling a tad guilty for abandoning in favour of facebook...
... But had a thought for you guys who don't mix fb and mn... How would you feel about setting up a profile on fb in your mn name so it remains anonymous - no need to post pics or your real name or anything - and then come and join our secret fb group? It can't be seen by anyone who isn't a member of the group and is incredibly busy! All you'd need to do is set up a basic profile, send me a friend request and i can add you to the group. The link to my profile is in the antenatal thread - on phone at the moment so difficult to add it! It would be great to have you join the group...

melliebobs · 20/04/2012 12:35

Wow. I didn't even know this thread existed!

PamBeesly · 06/05/2012 13:23

Hi everyone? How are all the babies doing? Sorry I haven't been on as much, I'm on the FB group more!

notcitrus · 14/05/2012 13:46

Fine - dd has her first tooth! Which is a pain as she's too young to hold a teether on her sore gums...
How do I find the FB group?

PamBeesly · 15/05/2012 15:00

notcitrus you can add me here www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=616071191 and I will add you, its a secret group ;-)
Poor DD, can she have bonjela? That must be hard going without anything to sooth her, have you seen Sophie La Giraffe, is she any good?

PamBeesly · 15/05/2012 15:03

NC I just spotted my profile is private so I'll send one of the other non private profile ladies over to add you!

hermionejgranger · 15/05/2012 15:09

here i am... www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=618828447 send me a message as well so i know you're not a random stalker :) congrats on the tooth, btw!!!

hermionejgranger · 15/05/2012 15:09

littlemonkeybix · 16/05/2012 04:08

Wowser... a bus tooth!!!!

Sorry I've neglected mn.... fb is so much easier with a newborn. Blush

quick update:

Little DS is 8.5 weeks ... how the hell did THAT happen?!?! Jabs on Thursday (Eeek)

Recovering v well from emcs, and had to abandon bf after 2 weeks due to ds having a short tongue.... latch fail Sad We both did it right, but nature denied us.

Had to abandon expressing at 6 weeks as it was so time consuming. like feeding twice! Feed, then pump, plus bottle sterilisation meant nooooo sleep! Mini meltdown, so decision to stop made.

Currently have a thriving wee boy Grin

Hope everyone is well x

ZhenThereWereTwo · 17/05/2012 12:26

Glad to hear everyone is doing well :)

NC can she hold a muslin and get it to her mouth? If so try dipping strips of muslin in a mixture of strong cold chamomile tea then wring out and leave to cool in fridge. DD1 used to love them frozen too once she got older (I also added peppermint too). I think they can have dentinox teething gel at that age, DD1 preferred the taste to bonjela.

Update:

All well with DD2, she sleeps up to 6 hours in one stretch which makes things a lot easier. Breastfeeding going well, she is a guzzling cluster feeder. She loves talking away to her sister and is currently trying to learn how to blow raspberries.

Recovering well from EMCS, in much less discomfort than the last time. I am even starting to exercise more frequently using the 30 day shred, I can just about find the time to do 20 mins around two kids!

PamBeesly · 17/05/2012 14:26

Hi Zhen yah for sleepy DD! Fantastic that you are recovering well too I didn't have a CS and the idea of doing the Shred leaves me cold :) you are excellent
