1onion
1carrot
1leek
225g red lentils (or any other colour really)
225g cooked chestnuts.
Oil
1.5litres stock

Chop the first 3 ingredients and cook them til soft in some oil then add the lentils. Add the stock. Cook for 20 mins. Add the chestnuts cook for 10 mins then whizz it all up. It'll look a fairly horrid colour, but tastes lovely Xmas Smile.

I also recently made an aromatic stew and a fruit cake (that was my take on an Italian certisino but I replaced the honey with maple syrup and added a load of extra stuff like dark chocolate- and have thus named it Canadian certisino) that both came out well if you would like those recipes too.

Thanks! Yum, sounds really nice. I don't actually do much with lentils, I need to use them more.

I don't like dried fruit, can't abide Christmas cake/mince pies/Christmas pudding etc. Thanks anyway!

I asked DS what he wanted from DS when we were having a little late-night chat just before bossing off, and he said 'toys'. I thought he'd be a bit more specific. So I asked again the following day, what did he hope for from Santa, and he said, a sandwich. Easy to please, my one! Xmas Smile

Hope you are all set for Christmas, and have a wonderful festive few days. xxx

Dd3 says he's not bringing her presents as she's got one. There's actually a couple under the tree at the moment for her but the only one she has noticed is hers is one from toddlers that she refused to open at the time!

Aw, they are sooooo cute at this stage, aren't they! Funny little poppets.

How is life treating you all?

We're well, ds is growing up way too quickly. He now says 'night night Mummy' when he goes to bed, and tells me 'morming' when he wakes up.

What has everyone got their little ones for Christmas? We've bought ds a balance bike, duplo and brio.

Tribble, how very lovely to hear from you! Lovely neat bump you have there! Have you got a name ready? Are you sharing in advance if so?

Awww @ morming! I love the slight mispronunciations!

Santa has got DS, well, so I've heard, a weightlifting bar, a t-shirt, some Mr.Men books and something to play with in the bath. He was getting boots, but we gave them to him early, as I was starting to think he'd be too big for them soon so I'd better get maximum wear out of them.
The elves bring a little stocking with little things like socks and pants, blowing bubbles, a little book, and a soft toy. And a satsuma and some chocolate coins, of course!
We have got him a puzzle, a kaleidoscope, a book, a torch and a water play toy.
I was starting to get concerned I'd gone a bit overboard but now it is wrapped, it doesn't look all too much, to me. And we are not expecting anything from anyone else, so, not a crazy haul for a little boy.

He also gets a Christmas Eve hamper with a jigsaw book in, new PJs, The Night Before Christmas book, some extra special toppings for hot chocolate, and popcorn. We were going to add a DVD, but are going to be tightarses and find a film on TV to watch.

Merry Christmas everyone! Just popping in to see how everyone is getting along. Slightly confused by name changes but think I have worked everyone out! I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!

This year should be fun as they get what's going on. Dd3 is getting caught up in the excitement and has watched Xmas Bob plenty of times!

Ooo every girl needs sparkly pants bp.

Ood what was the thing about Henry in the tree on your status?

WWSD I've not shared with a lot of people (mainly family) due to the fact that I like something to be a surprise. He will most likely be a Jasper or a Seth. If the scan was wrong and we get a shocker of a girl, then she will be Esme or Elizabeth.

Dd3 has a Henry Viii doll she pinched off dd2. No idea why she has it. Dd3 calls it Daddy and it's now on our tree!

Hi, Spring and busy, how nice to see you both.

Ooh, thanks for sharing, Tribble. Lovely!

Ood, I saw the Fb photo! Funny.

Do you know which gender you are having, Ood?

Report
TribbleWithoutaCause · 24/12/2012 21:25

Thanks, I've struggled slightly as I wanted a name that was a bit different but still fitted with ds1's name. Don't know if my names fill that one, but we like them.

OodKingWenceslas · 24/12/2012 22:31

No we don't know. I think boy, dh thinks girl. I thought dd2 was a boy enough to check that the MW brought me the right one so what do I know!

WhatWouldSantaDo · 25/12/2012 00:42

I think they compliment your DS1's name wonderfully. I think Seth is on the rise. Popular for a reason.

Ood, haha! Everyone thought my bump meant a girl! Lucky I had him at home, or I'd think I got someone else's baby! Especially as he looks nothing like us!

Hello everyone ! Good to see some back.
Trib, I remember you mentioning Jasper before. I agree with WWSD, they do both compliment your DS' name. Possibly Seth the most as the ending is different. Seb/Sebastian is on the rise too. I know 2 boys of the same age with that name.

I hope you're all enjoying the holidays. We are Xmas Smile

Just realised what I wrote looked odd! When I said good to see some back, I meant everyone who's recently contributed as I have missed the others too!! Hopefully that makes sense!

Belated merry christmas! Trib we are present twins, as dd also had a balance bike and duplo. She hasn't seen the bike properly yet as it's still in the box owing to having had all my family here for three days (12 of us, six adults, six kids....). It was fab actually. Her favourite present without a shadow of a doubt was (my suggestion) the pushchair my mum bought for her. She just went round and round and round the house for hours once it was opened. She loved pushing a walker thing previously so I knew it would be a big hit. Ds got loads of Octonauts stuff which he loves.

Hello to Spring and busy. Spring, when is your dc4 due?
