Hello, October Mamas!
Make yourselves comfortable.

That is allowed! Xmas Grin

Xavielli · 04/12/2012 08:04

Hello Ladies!

Long time no post and hope you and your families are all well.

OodKingWenceslas · 04/12/2012 08:34

Hi xavelli :)

WhatWouldSantaDo · 05/12/2012 00:21

Hi, Xav! What's new?

FloozieTinsel · 05/12/2012 23:28

Ood how do you do the salt dough decs?

As you can see, I have gone a bit festive too. We're the house of bugs at the moment and sound like a TB ward between me, ds and dd. There were 10 kids off from ds's class today. Tis the season to be sickly, fa la la la la, la la la la! Hopefully they'll all be back for the (three) Christmas concerts next week. Xmas Grin

So I still haven't bought any major presents... I am looking closely at balance bikes online and just trying to decide how much to spend. WWSD, what's ds's like - rubber wheels or pneumatic, low-step access, brake or not? I like the descriptions of the Puky one but they do seem to be about the most expensive.

OodKingWenceslas · 06/12/2012 07:47

salt dough cut into shapes put a hole in & paint. Varnish or use PVA yo varnish if you want them for future years.

WhatWouldSantaDo · 07/12/2012 21:31

Hope you all get better soon, FT

DS has this bike. Brakes and preumatic tyres, not sure what you mean by low-step access - does it have a step? No, but he can get on fine.

WhatWouldSantaDo · 07/12/2012 21:32

P.S. We had loads of snow today, yippee!

FloozieTinsel · 08/12/2012 23:42

Thanks WWSD. I've just ordered her one of the ones I was looking at. Yours looks lovely but is sadly beyond my budget. I'm trusting the wisdom of MN on the model I've gone for as I've never seen a real live one. Ooh, for the snow! Me and some friends are talking about maybe next year if we can afford it (see previous comment!) going to the Alps/Pyrenees over New Year to get the genuine Christmassy snow experience. We've got over a year to save so we'll see. Are you staying in Germany for Christmas? We've just agreed with my family that we're going to have Christmas Day at ours so this will be the first time ever in this house. We've been here for three years so about time really. I'm now looking forward to it but will be a wreck just before it happens, I know! We now have a LOT of sorting/giving away/chucking out of stuff to do as we have six adults and six children including ourselves to put up for the night and our spare rooms are crammed with junk redundant objects.

Hello Xav btw. Forgot to say hi yesterday. How are you and the kids?

WhatWouldSantaDo · 09/12/2012 17:52

Yeah, the Isla is pricey, but should have a good sell-on value.

I hope it is still snowy white here for Christmas. A nice Alps Christmas would be fab. I have spent it in Austria before, so lovely to be surrounded by snow! Best start saving!

Yes, staying here for Xmas. No way was I going back to the UK! Doing the German Christmas markets, enjoying the snow - we are staying put! May be in the UK next Christmas, depends on DH's job, so making the most of being here while we can. I am hoping we will spend several Christmases all over the world before DS grows up, really experience it in different ways.

Sounds like your place will be heaving! Enjoy!

SpectresandSpooks · 11/12/2012 16:14

Hello all! Loved the name change suggestion WWSD but its too long!
Well, I have moved house and am in day 2 of the new job, but heading back to the old one for the rest of the week tomorrow for xmas do and handover note writing.
DD has settled brilliantly at the nursery and seems to like the new abode too. We're off for Christmas leave from Friday evening. It'll be fantastic to have 3 weeks off Xmas Smile.
I hope everyone is well. Hello Xav! How are you?

WhatWouldSantaDo · 15/12/2012 17:28

Darn, I thought it probably would be!

Hope you are loving your new home, and yay for being off for Xmas!

SpectresandSpooks · 15/12/2012 21:03

As DD has entered a new childcare disease melting pot, and the last 3 days were spent staying with my lovely friend who is a childminder, I have a cold. Brill start to the Xmas hols! However, being back in our nice warm house up north has meant that DD's cough has disappeared. The new military house is better than the previous one, which was damp and far too big for me and DD. This one works better but is FREEZING, all the time. There is no thermostat!

Getting there for Xmas. DD has new wellies that are furry inside, a dolls house we got off eBay that's the same as the one she adores at the childminder's she's just left and they stopped being made in the 1990's!

I hope everyone is well. Xx

WhatWouldSantaDo · 16/12/2012 12:38

Oh no at the illness. Glad DD is better though. You get well soon.

I don't like the heating here. We have no timer.

Well done on the Xmas shopping. I am done, but not wrapped yet.

SpectresandSpooks · 16/12/2012 18:27

Thanks Smile. Am feeling quite rubbish. I used to hardly ever get a cold. Maybe once every 3 years if that. Now I think a combo of DD being exposed to stuff ( although to be fair she's only had about 5 colds, rotovirus and chicken pox once) and me catching stuff off her and me just ending a stupidly busy job on an open plan Floorplate with aircon. I am back to having my own office in the new job.

I think DD's very back molars are coming in. She's refused lunch and dinner today.

WhatWouldSantaDo · 16/12/2012 19:35

Poor you. Take it easy, and you'll be back to your old self in no time.

Hope those little teeth come through smoothly.

OodKingWenceslas · 16/12/2012 19:49

spectre dd3 has been really chewy, think she's teething too.

Dd1 was 13 today , feel so old :( dd3 has got the hang of birthdays but won't sing Happy birthday yet

WhatWouldSantaDo · 16/12/2012 20:47

Well, Ood, you are young compared to me! Xmas Smile

OodKingWenceslas · 16/12/2012 21:43

Grin I don't like getting older Blush

WhatWouldSantaDo · 16/12/2012 21:47

Better than the alternative! Xmas Grin

OodKingWenceslas · 16/12/2012 22:00

I was planning to stay at 29!

WhatWouldSantaDo · 16/12/2012 22:22
Xmas Smile
SpectresandSpooks · 18/12/2012 12:45

Still got this EVIL cold! Just had lentil and chestnut soup to help combat it, which I can thoroughly recommend. Need some energy to get more xmassy!

WhatWouldSantaDo · 19/12/2012 00:15

Sorry to hear that. Ooh, I have both those ingredients in.

SpectresandSpooks · 19/12/2012 12:23

Would you like the recipe?
