Happy new year!

Sorry for the rubbish title but wanted to get the new thread underway. Let's close the door on some of the sad events of 2011 and look forward to a better year in 2012.

OP posts:

DeidreBarlow · 04/04/2012 13:09

Kayzr · 04/04/2012 13:10

Beans GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin that's so brilliant!! I'm really happy for you and your Dad!!!

GrinGrinGrin under 24 hours until the ceremony starts!!! I can't believe it's here already!!

Rubena · 04/04/2012 13:14

Brilliant news BeansSmile

Rubena · 04/04/2012 13:15

Utter day from hell here. Somebody shoot me.

DeidreBarlow · 04/04/2012 13:21

You okay rubes?

Indith · 04/04/2012 13:32

Brew and Biscuit better than shooting, followed by Wine at bedtime.

Hope you are ok :)

Rubena · 04/04/2012 13:44

Yeah being slightly dramatic but DS - really testing my patience - all post grandma visit - only left her with him for an hour yesterday for the first time in a month of seeing them, and it's like he's a different child today. I think Wine is acceptable at this hour actually, under the circumstances Grin

How exciting Kayz!

Rubena · 04/04/2012 14:25

Baking Thomas cup cakes has calmed things..... for now!

JollyBear · 04/04/2012 14:53

Wow beans! That is incredible!

Rubes Keep strong, you are on the last leg towards bedtime now.

It was snowing here yesterday. Crazy weather!

Oooh not long now kayz.

Rubena · 04/04/2012 15:29

Omg I just want this day to end. I was vacuuming the dog and cue massive screaming and DS was closing door on DD's thumb which was at the hinged end... Thought A&E was in order but it looked a lot worse than actually was and only has a huge indentation and tiny cut. Must be a heck of a lot of baby fat on that thumb, thank God.

VagolaJahooli · 04/04/2012 15:36

Oh beans that is just the most wonderful amazing news. Hooray to all his brilliant doctors and nurses. I'm such a sap, but when i read what you wrote I just burst into tears. As i was reading I was expecting you to say they had shrunk significantly, but to be completely gone! Well it just took my by surprise and next thing I knew I was blubbing here on the couch.

Sorry about the stress of the house and work with no childcare, and the prospect of a town where you know no one. The first few months here I had no friends except you guys and it was hard but we had friends come to visit and that really helped. Eventually you meet people and they introduce you to more people, but it takes time. Whoever your new friends are they are very lucky to have you.

Rubes these Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine are for you.
Ds2 is a bit unwell, no temp but just Whiney and he slept in this morning and ds1 & I had to deal with his grumbling because we had to get him up so I could cycle ds1 to school.

I'm on an Expat yahoo group here that has a buy & sell email group. I've managed to sell the boys old cube & slide play set thing for only slightly less than I bought it and I have also sold their old maclaren pushchair. Both are being picked up tomorrow. I'm happily rid of the play set as it's too small for them and takes up space, but I'm getting a bit sentimental about the pushchair. It was our original pushchair and they were in it from teeny tiny babies. I feel a bit sad about seeing it her go, I know it's just an object and I have my boys right here, but I remember when we bought it and were so excited about one day have our little baby boy in it. I'm going to have to get dh to remove the arsenal sticker from the front because I can't bring myself to do it.

I'm going to wear my sunny hat I got in Malaysia in your honour tomorrow Kayz. Maybe we should all wear our hats and post photos on FB in yiir honour.

Rubena · 04/04/2012 15:49

I thought he stopped closing the door because dd was screaming but now I notice something was in the way of the door closing otherwise it probably would have chopped it right off - I feel so awful for not watching and so mad at ds as he is is always trying to slam doors and stop her going through them Sad It could have been so much worse. Sorry for selfish selfish posts. Thanks Vag - I will have Wine later Sad

Beans36 · 04/04/2012 15:56

Kayz - WOW! that's come about so fast! You must be so excited!
Vag, you just made me cry back at you. What lovely things. And thanks all for lovely words.
Rubes - that happened to DD1 in our old house, but DH was the one trying to close the door. Was hideous and DD1 was sick with the pain! But she was similarly ok and all fine now. Worse for DH I think. And didn't Lady's DP squish a finger with a chair? A will be ok. But horrible for you.

Vag, v brave selling stuff. We're freecycling our stairgates, playpen and and DD1's bed. It's so old. Already done one cot!! Getting 2 truckle beds instead for both girls. Brill. DD2 can just about fit bed and cot in her room so will double up til we get her out of a cot in 5 years time

Am going a bit bonkers with only littles for company. Love them so much, but waiting for delivery of playroom furniture. It's the only room still full of boxes. Can't wait to sort it!

Rubena · 04/04/2012 16:11

Thanks Beans. It seems (my) dh is always doing silly things re the kids and then I've got them and this could have been much worse. I know I'm overreacting as it wasn't much worse but it's about what could have been plus AF due and its been a horrible day. DS football cancelled today and staying in all day has just been a nightmare. We have also just taken stair gates off mainly because DS was trying to stop dd going up or down and in the process slamming the gate at her head - one of which has a metal end on it which she has already copped in the forehead. I feel like I need to babyproof all over again for the arguing toddlers.....
What's a truckle bed? I too am keeping dd in a bed as long as possible.
You must be so relieved about your Dad - really is such great news. Reading that has been the only bright spot in my day Smile
Right - off to regroup and pull myself together - crying in front of the kids isn't helping things.....

Beans36 · 04/04/2012 16:28

Truckle bed is normal bed but with a slide out bed underneath. Genius invention!!

JamInMyWellies · 04/04/2012 16:31

Rubes bloody big glass of wine. I feel your pains DS2 through huge wobbler in the middle of a garden centre thus am while I was trying to buy 4 bags of compost. They have redeemed themselves by playing beautifully outside all arvo. Well I say beautifully the game seems to involve garoting each other with a skipping rope. Wink

Loving this weather it's gorgeous here.

Kayz vvvv exciting. GrinGrinGrin

Blimey they are now naked dancing. Lord knows what our neighbours must think.

Beans36 · 04/04/2012 16:36

Meant to add, keep your chin up. It's miserable feeling like that, but we ALL have days of it. I'm often a total cow to my two. You're far nicer than me to yours. Thinking of you xx

Beans36 · 04/04/2012 16:37

We've had garden pm too. Bliss. Shelves have arrived. Yay!

JumpJockey · 04/04/2012 16:43

Beans that is totally wonderful news! How utterly fantastic Grin Being a fan of old men on clouds, it seems like a perfectly timed miracle given the closeness to Easter and all :)

kayz sending you lots of happy day vibes for tomorrow, how brilliant that it's come round so soon!

Indith · 04/04/2012 16:57

Tomorrow is another day Rubes. Stick a dvd on now to see you through til dinner and bedtime then once you are shot of them have a nice bath, a glass of wine and forget about it all.

Ds closed the pation doors on dd's fingers a while back. She had them in the hinge end and he actually fully shut the door on them, they were absolutely fine though I don't know how! It is hard when they are both big enough to be bloody minded individuals, the times they play together are wonderful but the days they just scream at each other and seem intent on inflicting as many injuries as they can on each other are horrible.

I love my children but bloody hell don't I just love school and nursery too!

I have a living room full of stuff, just got a second hand scooter and trike for toddler group since our scooter broke and the woman was also selling a bike. Now, last summer dd kept stealing ds' old bike and riding it around. So age 2 and a half was perfectly happy riding a proper bike. We got ds a bigger bike as he grew and handed the other one down to dd. We went on a bike ride with me on foot, dd rode the bike to the end of the village and back. The next day she declared herself too little for it and had never ridden it again since. She rides trikes and tractors at various groups but still won't ride the bike. So I have given up and for the grand sum of £10 have a hideously pink, flowery affair with a seat to put a doll at the back and streamers on the handle bars. I hope she likes it! Need to swap the stabilisers over then sell the old one so I can fit it in the shed.

Beans36 · 04/04/2012 17:13

Oh tits. Furniture requires assembling and wanted to do at least one before DH got home so could be viewed as highly skilled. However arrived too late and it's the race to bedtime now. Bugger.

That bike sounds hideous... DD1 would LOVE it!!!

Beans36 · 04/04/2012 17:15

Indith - did you get midwife job??? Sorry have missed so much!

Indith · 04/04/2012 17:18

I got into university yes so in 4 and a half years ish I will be a MW.

Rubena · 04/04/2012 17:20

Thanks Indith / Beans and all involved in my overly dramatic day. Yeah ours was the patio door too - dh said little fingers are quite tolerant to these things but doesn't make me feel much better. To round off the day nicely, the dog has just fallen down the stairs (really) and we don't have pet insurance. She is oddly laying down like she's knackered. Hope that's all Confused

Grin Beans! I know what you mean, but I think parenting requires much more skill than furniture assembly - (especially with no play room stuff!)
