Rubena · 22/12/2011 00:11

Oh Beans, I agree with Lady and hope that is the case. Hoping for a brighter New year for this thread. I suggest a new thread 1st Jan Xmas Smile
Lady, I hope dp see's rapid improvement. Muppets at that hospital. Keep us posted and wishing him out and well pronto.
I'm feeling better although majorly congested still. Getting new appliances tomorrow which pleases me, as they have been broken since day 1, but faffy situation with ex letting agent to deal with first.
Arti - sounds like a long shot, so I wouldn't worry. I often had obvious pg symptoms when trying for dd which turned out to be zilch.
Just had a friend over tonight and have good hair again Xmas Grin but she's been trying for dc2 and was also late 3 weeks then neg and was gutted.
Test anyway though as you never know! Standing by for news Xmas Wink
Jam, geez, hope you feel better soon and peace restores in the household. Does it ever though with littles about?
Jolly, the bloody cheek of your dh!
SL hello, we've gone a little track mad here.... we must get together in the new year for the boys to shunt some trucks (is that right Hmm) I'm such a newbie at this.....

AwayinaKayzr · 22/12/2011 12:57

LadyT, I hope that DP is out of hospital soon! Especially for Christmas.

I had a MW appt this morning and all is fine. We've just booked a private scan for the 7th Jan so DP can see the baby before he goes to work. I am hoping they might be able to tell us the gender then.

Jolly your DH is nuts. I suggest going out for a whole day and leaving him with the children. Pop home for 10 minutes and then go back out. I'd love to know how tidy the house is when you return.

Indith · 22/12/2011 13:56

Flipping heck LadyT, fingers crossed antibiotics start to work.

Jolly Shock I would not be impressed at that sort of comment! . Mind you, my children are always so much better behaved when daddy is left with him, I assume it is the novelty factor. He can actually do the washing up without them clinging to his legs.

LadyThompson · 22/12/2011 17:41

They've let him out! Mainly because they need the bed but he IS better, though has to return for more IV drugs. I'm on my way back from London to play Nurse Nancy. But DD2 has an awful cough and DD1 was sick in my hands in the cab so I think I will be more Florence Nightingale.

Kayz, private scans are such a treat. They will be able to hazard a guess if the baby is in the right position I think.

Indith · 22/12/2011 19:55

You poor thing LadyT.

I am feeling very grateful today. Went for brunch with a friend, her marriage is crumbling and she isn't even sure it is worth saving. They have been married for 2 years. 2 years! In 2 short years she can't even remember why they got married. Obviously there is a lot more to it than that but still.

Dh and I wind each other up, sometimes we piss each other off but we communicate and when there is something wrong we tell each other. He is a lovely and supportive husband and amazing father and I love him more the longer I am with him. Even if he can't wash up before making more mess than he cleans :)

JollyBear · 22/12/2011 22:28

ladyT You know you have had a bad day when 'DD1 was sick in my hands' is just an aside comment rather than the focus of your post. I hope DP feels better soon and there isn't too much illness about in your house.

Talking of which, how are things in the jam household?

indith What a lovely thing to say about your DH.

Thanks for all your support re DH being an idiot! He has been working late/on nights out all week whereas I've been trying to get things together at home and I do feel mightily underappreciated. There is so much pressure to get things done. This is a good example. Now don't laugh but the first year DH and I moved in together I made Christmas cakes for his family. It has become a tradition of sorts. The first year they were immaculate. I had a friend who was taking a cake decorating course and she taught me to make holly leaves etc Xmas Blush (I sound SO uninteresting). I wrapped the cakes in florists wrap, and tied them all up with ribbon. Beautiful! Fast forward to this year and, well firstly I had to fight off DD1 who was trying to make holes in the cakes with her fingernail. They are iced on the top only, with a ribbon on the sides being the only decoration and the final indignity is a pathetic big of cling film resting on the top. The poor things have not fulfilled their christmas destiny. I am the most disorganised I have been EVER. But DD1 loved helping me, and J even sat in her highchair eating a wooden spoon and enjoying the atmosphere. That is the main thing.

Right to bed. Night all.

Not seen trace in a while. Hope you are ok if lurking.

JollyBear · 23/12/2011 08:28

Oooh festive tops on our milk bottles this morning!

Rubena · 23/12/2011 10:51

Aww we didn't get that on our milk (tho we only order plastic bottles)
Chaos here. 5 hrs yesterday of some muppets trying to install an oven then decided it didn't fit. DH home 20 min later has it fitted and working Xmas Hmm
In the midst I discover DD has broken 1/3-1/2 her front tooth out and also the bottom one Sad no idea how. Emerg trip to dentist today. TT abandoned after going through 7 pairs of pants yesterday. Regressed badly since the move. Back burner till the new year I think.
Not a lot of time to do a LOT so must go.
Lady glad DP improving, keep me posted. Beans sad to hear your Dad doing well then a bit ill with the chemo / lungs etc.
Gotta run!

LadyThompson · 23/12/2011 12:30

I am so sorry about DD's teeth, Rubes, I do so hope they can patch them up. Things sound very very hectic over at yours. I hope you will be sitting down with some festive telly and a spot of cheerfulness very soon. In fact, I wish that for everyone on the thread....

I am home now and not doing much sitting down but we've got carols from Kings blasting out on the stereo and the Christmas tree lights are twinkling so all is well.

DP is not much better really but glad to be home.

Jolly, icing holly leaves sound lovely and amazing. And I think you are very clever to make Christmas cakes at all, even without the leaves.

Indith, that does sound very depressing for your friend. I get cheesed off with DP sometimes but things aren't THAT bad. Gosh.

OK, so I have found a tenant for my flat and I had such a brilliant time in London seeing friends. It has done me the power of good. And I probably didn't say but last weekend with my folks was just fantastic, I loved it. Things have been a bit challenging recently but oh my goodness, I am beyond grateful for my magnificent family and friends. And that includes you all, of course!

Artichohohohokes · 23/12/2011 13:21

So I peed on a stick this morning because my period is still AWOL............................

it was negative. Phew! So relieved. I knew it would be but I am never this late so a bit of me was worrying. Also boobs still hurt so clearly some weird hormonal shenanigans occurring. At least it's not a small feotus causing them though. Big relief.

Lady, I'm glad your DP is home, although sorry to hear he is still unwell. I hope you manage a healthy Christmas.

And sorry to hear about DD's teeth Rubes. Could the dentist fix them?

We have friends coming round for Christmas drinks later and the DDs and I have just made a chocolate, chesnut and almond cake. It's in the oven smelling divine. Mmmmmmm. I have 10 different sets of Christmas lights decorating our house, am loving the twinkliness. Now i have kids i really am experiencing the excitement and tingliness of Christmas as much as I did when I was little.

Anyway, better go check the cake and mull some wine (and tear kids away from CBeebies) I hope you all have lovely Christmases with well behaved DCs and generous DHs/DPs showering you with gifts.

ZuleikaJambiere · 23/12/2011 16:44

Hello lovelies, I've been lurking all week and failing to post, despite having loads to say. So will suffice with a very merry Christmas, happy birthday to the christmas day toddlers and love to you all.

Have started maternity leave (hurrah!) so you won't be able to get me off here from now on Grin

traceface · 23/12/2011 17:46

hi all,

sorry this may be cut short but I will try...dd1 is watching a barbie film on TV and dd2 is play-dohing!
I'll start with wishing you all a very merry Christmas - just in case my attention is needed elsewhere before I get around to saying it! Hope you all have healthy, peaceful, happy times. My thoughts are with all of you who have had sad times recently.
LadyT glad to hear dh is out of hospital and hope the ABs do their job soon. JB I'm in awe at your cake making/decorating/child entertaining skills and think you DH ought to try a day on his own and see if he can accomplish the same as you did. Hope he makes up for it with a big apology and some chocolate!
Vag your extended family sound a strange bunch. Sounds like you were a lot more tolerant than I would have been.
beans I hope your dad picks up soon from the pneumonitis. It's such a rollercoaster for you all, isn't it? SO glad you and your sisters enjoyed your time away.
Kay sorry about the wedding having to be post-poned, but it's great about dp's job.
Sorry to those who've been/are ill. It stinks doesn't it? I'm full of cold - we all have been - it just seems to pass around us all round and round. Poor P has been like it for weeks. Roll on spring time!
WG I really liked your DH's TV thing - really funny! Not seen/heard any of his stuff before (that I'm aware of) and I was very impressed!
Bugger P has peed herself
Bye for now xxx

Nolda · 23/12/2011 18:04

Just jumping on quickly to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas!

I hope all the December babies have had lovely birthdays.

Verso · 23/12/2011 18:17

And a happy Christmas to you all from me too! Xmas Grin

traceface · 23/12/2011 18:51

ok sorted. Fed and in bed - albeit crying her heart out Sad She is soooooooo naughty with some things at the moment - just pushing every boundary there is - saying 'no' when we ask her to do something, refusing to stop doing something naughty when we tell her off, and basically acting like she can't hear us! Anyway I asked her to come to me to get her pyjamas and nappy on for bed and she went and hid behind the settee instead. So after a few times of asking nicely, I warned her that if I counted to 3 and she still hadn't come to me, there would be no bedtime story. So I counted to 3 and she stayed hiding. So now she's in bed having had no story and is not happy about it. And I'm kind of regretting it - but she'll just walk all over me if I let her get away with it. Eek.
Anyway - I see I x-posted with Verso and Nolda - hello ladies - good to see you! Merry Christmas!
arti - how do you feel about your negative? Is there any bit of disappointment? Sometimes a scare can reveal our true feelings Wink Hope the symptoms go soon.
Anyone know how urbane is? Has she had her dc3 yet? When was she due?
DD1 and dh are playing on the playstation now, and I need to get ready soon to go out because our choir is singing in town tonight. I'm not that keen tonight as I'm so snotty and thick-headed, with one ear blocked and a bit of a croaky voice, and it's very cold and rainy outside - but I know once I'm there I'll enjoy it (even if I sound like Lily Savage singing)
Where's spot? Are you ok Spot? And JJ?
Tomorrow we're off to the ILs for lunch then on to my parents' to stay a couple of nights there, then back to ILs on Boxing Day, then home. So I will be absent for a few days but will hopefully be back soon.
Do you know what...it's already gone quiet upstairs! I win! I win!

traceface · 23/12/2011 18:52

How does Santa like his pizza?

Deep pan, crisp and even!
Xmas Grin

JamInMyWellies · 23/12/2011 19:20

Yay well done Trace.

Still feel rotten here in Jam land. Poor boys we took the hound out yesterday to get some fresh air and all if us flaked out then slept till 7.30am. So there are advantages to this flu thing.

We are still cracking on with out Christmas plans. Down with snot and up with fun. Xmas Grin

Lady glad to hear DP is home.

Rubes teeth! Eek.

JB bugger me you DH needs that frying pan lamped across his noggin.

Right my tablet is ready for whisking.

Am sure I will be back later but incase not.

Merry Christmas lovely girls. Enjoy your loved ones. Xxxx

JollyBear · 23/12/2011 19:35

Merry Christmas ladies!

I wrote a long post on my phone but lost it grrrrrr.

Just quickly as I've wrapping to do...

Rubes Poor DD what did the dentist say?

Very similar bedtime here tonight Trace!

I didn't know tablet could be homemade Jam. Impressive!

Rubena · 23/12/2011 19:36

Dentist Plus extended Lady fam dentist said nothing at all they can do. She's not in pain so no nerve damage, they won't file sharp bits down as too young to stay still enough. He said he thinks her teeth are fully down but not sure so may grow down a bit more. She's broken off about a third of the front tooth (straight across) and half the bottom one (diagonally) actually not as bad as I first thought, and only baby teeth, so no big deal. Have to keep eye on it for nerve dying etc, but he doubts it as not enough gone for that. Poor girl already has a massive gap between her teeth and now one at half mast! Looks kind of cute.....Hmm he said it might not be bad but if it is when she's about 4 they can bond a plastic cap on - doubt I'd bother with that though by then! I just can't believe it happened without any other injury and we don't know how / when!!
Still bunged up here too Jam hope you all get well soon, as well as Mr Lady and other sickies.
Great news Avo I'd be the same, phew.
Hows your mum DB
I was wondering about Urbane too....
Gotta run, Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays to all if I don't get back on.... xx

AwayinaKayzr · 24/12/2011 08:30

Morning

Rubes your poor DD. I hope it continues to not be painful for her.

Trace you go girl. I'm just like that with the boys. If I say something I have to follow it through even though I find it heartbreaking.

I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow. Merry Christmas

DeidreBarlow · 24/12/2011 13:37

Hello ladies! Merry Christmas, i am getting sooo very excited!

JamInMyWellies · 24/12/2011 14:12

At the walk in centre after DH and friend bullied me as I now have throbbing ears to add to the inability to swallow anything but melted chocolate. So there are upsides to this. Grin

sybilfaulty · 24/12/2011 15:22

Poor you Jam. Could you force down a glass of champagne with the chocolates to help you feel better? Spot of cheerfulness and all that.

Am just off to our Crib service, then round to friends for more drink, food and random chatter. It's very low key but rather lovely. Happy Christmas everyone and get well soon to all the sicknotes.

Lots of love to you all.

KiwiPanda · 25/12/2011 06:49

Merry Christmas everyone! And may Father Christmas have bought you lots of sleep (clearly I was a bad girl this year Sad)
