Pull up a comfy chair, grab a cuppa and a piece of cake, switch the monitors on low and let's PARTY.....!!!

PS. I know that is not much of an age at all these days but my sub-conscious keeps sniggering at me and pointing the finger going 'nanananana'[... Grin

BigBadBear · 19/01/2012 10:02

Yes beth what's going on?

SconesForTea · 19/01/2012 11:11

Thanks for the recipe BBB. I do wonder what DD1 will make of it. Will purchase squash today Smile Great news on the sleep-through. DD1 is being awful at the moment, well waking twice a night reliably which feels pretty awful to me when it suddenly seems to be my responsibility to resettle her once again. DD2, on the other hand, sleeps through like an angel Hmm

SB good for you holding your nerve! They do try to test us don't they? I think I need to be stricter It is much less effort to give in...

PA I have left DD1 alone downstairs while I'm upstairs for a very short time for a while now - if I have to dash up to the loo and can't be bothered to take her with me, or dashing up to get a load of washing to chuck in the machine. I'm a bit nervous of it in case she does something new that is dangerous while I'm not there. But one place I can leave her for quite a while on her own is her cot, with a couple of books and her dummy she'll be happy for 10mins or longer. That's why I don't want to put her in a proper bed yet!

BG my Dad would say you're having a senior moment - I wouldn't of course Wink

bethy sounds like you're having a tough time of it. Big hugs.

How do your LOs cope with spoons? DD1 wants to eat her breakfast herself. Fair enough, she is nearly 2. But she cannot seem to get the hang of lifting the spoon flat enough to her mouth that there is anything left on it Confused It is driving me nuts. Soggy cereal and milk everywhere. I know I should just relax and let her get on with it but aaargh! Why can't she stop spilling it?!

IC how are you feeling? Did you have your scan?

DD2 just woken up, I'd better feed my angel baby Grin

SconesForTea · 19/01/2012 11:12

I am just waiting for her to reveal her true colours as devil child

PenguinArmy · 19/01/2012 13:09

well she has sticky porridge, so it can fall of the spoon

We don't have stairs, hence DD walks into the bedroom and shouts

PenguinArmy · 19/01/2012 13:09

our highchair doesn't have a footrest (the ikea one) so she can't climb out of it if it's not near the table/sofa etc.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 19/01/2012 13:48

Ooh, how exciting, I'm going to be on the radio soon (just after 14.00) with a record suggestion!

Typically, DD has chosen today to be too hyped up to go to sleep easily (I've had to go back into her room twice already to tell her to settle down) despite having a broken night last night because of her cold (which seems to be much better today, thankfully). I'm hoping she'll shut up and nod off within the next twenty minutes (or I'll just turn off the monitor and shut the door....)

Scones it's next Tuesday morning (ulp).

bethy I hope DS2 starts perking up soon, sounds horrid.

Better go, broadcasting awaits...

Phew, DD's finally shut up, so hopefully I can do my 6Music thingy unmolested (aurally, anyway).

PenguinArmy · 19/01/2012 14:24

I wanted James as our first dance, DH vetoed (sp?) it

InmaculadaConcepcion · 19/01/2012 14:27

Ooh, which one PA?
Not that I'm a James fan, but I do like some of their songs, for sure....

OP posts:
InmaculadaConcepcion · 19/01/2012 14:28

Sad missed you IC, thanks to a cute but stubborn person who has decided that naps are only for babies. Sigh, here goes my lunch break.

bethylou · 19/01/2012 15:45

Quick post to fill you in on my phone. Ds2 seemed to have tummy bug on Sunday. Stopped early hours of Monday. Sick again Tuesday pm and again Wednesday pm. Today sick twice and now his tummy is irritated even by squash, let alone any kind of solid. Back to baby poo-I'd forgotten the odour-and he's either sleeping, flopping on my arm, being sick or crying his eyes out as he's starving. Seen gp twice and then spoken twice today. Now back on all reflux meds as they think bug has triggered gastritis. However, he threw them up this a.m so not going to help today. Booked in for appt tomorrow with urine sample to check for ketones I guess. Psyching myself up for a day on the children's ward if not better by then. Dh came home for a bit earlier for some hand holding and ds1 and I went for a quick walk. ds2 now sleeping again and ds1 playing quietly, with accompanying stinking cold. No results for him yet and secretary won't even say if he needs iron. Luckily for her, I'm a bit preoccupied!
Love to all. Back when I can. Easier to post on Facebook.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 19/01/2012 17:25

Ah....bethy. What a nightmare. So sorry to hear DS2 is so poorly.

Sending lots of get well vibes in his direction.

Oh no Bethy poor little DS2. I hope they are able to settle it quickly. Big hugs.

What were you talking about IC? I will have a listen on listen again.

There's a good response to that 'French mothers' book here www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2012/jan/19/are-obedient-children-a-good-thing

StoneBaby · 19/01/2012 19:13

scones re spoon. DS has been feeding himself with a spoon since December 2010 and the nused a baby fork. He is now using 'adult' desert fork and spoon. Nursery still uses small plastic spoon.

bethy oh poor you and DS2.

IC well done
