Pull up a comfy chair, grab a cuppa and a piece of cake, switch the monitors on low and let's PARTY.....!!!

dd2 has seriously got into dressing up. She is currently wearing a sun hat, gloves, her sister's bikini, and her sister's wellies... Hang on, make that a swimsuit, one glove, a wooly hat, and her sister's sandals Xmas Grin. She can entertain herself for hours like this... Ah, she's changed again: here she is...

StoneBaby · 02/12/2011 18:57

BG I love those pictures of your DD2. She has loads of imagination. I'm also impressed that she can get dressed by herself Xmas Envy

Well I've survived this week at work (1st full working week for November!) Xmas Grin DS has been in a very good mood today and came from the kitchen into the living room, carrying the box of cheese crackers Shock it's in a secured cupboard Xmas Hmm

PA we're going away to France for 2 weeks this Christmas (leaving before Christmas and back after New Year) I can't wait! Hopefully we may even get some snow (snow tyres: checked, DS's snow boots for DS: checked, DS's snow jacket: checked... you're getting the theme Grin )

BabyGiraffes · 02/12/2011 19:06

SB It's quite a new thing with her that she can dress/undress and it makes for interesting bedtimes because I have to go in at least twice and put her back in her pyjamas... Xmas Grin
I'm Xmas Envy that you are going away over Christmas. We dithered for so long that now the flights are far too expensive and we won't go anywhere Sad

Bearcrumble · 02/12/2011 21:38

Bethy I hope the Paed appointment went well today. Thinking of you and your DS1.

BG love the picture of DD2 in her mismatched outfit. So cute. I love toddler tummies. I think the not needing anything is a good sign on the whole although I bet if someone took you for walk around a posh dept store you'd think of a few more things.

The main thing I want for Christmas is a new mattress. Ours is so hard that when I try to sleep on my left side my left arm goes dead. Currently I am sleeping on a thin duvet folded in half on top of my side of the bed.

DS and I went up to town to see a friend this morning who lives in Bloomsbury and we popped into the British Museum briefly afterwards. He enjoyed running round the big covered courtyard. This evening we went to see our local high st lights get turned on by a (rubbish) pantomime dame. DH has gone out to DJ and one of his friends is sleeping on our sofa so I am hoping he comes to bed QUIETLY.

I worry sometimes that we are going to ruin DS's sunny nature by being so argumentative. I honestly try to have sensible, adult conversations with DH but if I ask him "have you done X yet" he acts like such an arsehole and tells me I am hectoring and the conversation gets out of control and becomes about something other than the topic it should be (ie. has he done the thing) and just turns into accusation and counter accusation of unreasonableness. I don't like it but I don't know how to get him to do things without reminding him and he seems to take against being reminded.

PenguinArmy · 02/12/2011 23:23

DD woke up at least three times last night, not sure what's up, hopefully just teething as I can see her incisors wanting to push through.

I think I should get out her more dressy up things (not that we have much) ina box she can reach. She likes putting stuff on (well getting us to) and then looking in the mirror at herself.

I'm back in pre-pg clothes although I don't have many, let along BF friendly ones so same staple of jeans and vest tops Xmas Hmm

BBB Physio is for my shit PFs. Having been shown how to do them properly, I'm still not getting it. It's hard work and so easy to do wrong. Guess if your PFs aren't too bad you don't need to do them spot on.

BC maybe time to re-read the 'how to speak to children...'

SB make sure you do some relaxing on that holiday

IC DD is hardly eating any dinner atm. The only thing she ate the other day was the pumpkin seeds I had roasted, handmade bean burger, roast carrots, pumpkin not even touched. I'm rejigging her mealtimes the rest of the day and will see if that has an effect.

and that's DS waking for a feed

StoneBaby · 03/12/2011 07:29

PA for sure I'll rest during those holidays, I'm aiming to hand DS to my mum and then put my feet up

Weather over here is awful, strong winds and rain. I need to think on how to entertain DS inside then

StoneBaby · 03/12/2011 16:24

Another thread to cheer you up Xmas Grin

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 03/12/2011 19:05

I have to post as I am out of the "in" post.
Bethy I hope everything will be fine, thinking about you and your ds1. TBH I wouldn't have lied but I would have got it to A&E (at the hospital he was due his test) as soon as possible if it happened again.

SB take care.
I had Xmas requests for all of DD1's friends, she is selfless; and huge debates about a baby pink elephant, but in the end we can't have it as "babies shouldn't be separated from their mummies and a full sized elephant wouldn't fit in our flat..." how glad I am!
This years is: no list: "I trust FC, he knows when I am awake, he knows when I am asleep, he knows when I am sad, he knows when I am bad, he knows what I want.."Grin Confused mummy aka FC, poor her, have to find ideas for 3 GPs as well... (who send me money but no instructions).

BG your DD2 looks like a mini DD2 Grin, so cute! we do have a lot of random dressing up too.

Whip PA to do her exercises

BabyGiraffes · 03/12/2011 21:00

mous She is very 'mini' Grin. I am now getting comments on her size esp compared to my height. Trying not to worry about it Confused but may ask at her 2 year check up if it is normal for toddlers not to grow at all for several months...

PenguinArmy · 03/12/2011 22:29

I swear over the last two days DD has grown up loads, got a little sad about it last night. Odd how they do a couple of things all at the same time every now and then.

However for all those who get giddy over babies here is DS taken yesterday.

BabyGiraffes · 03/12/2011 23:31

PA He's gorgeous!!! Smile

StoneBaby · 04/12/2011 08:10

PA aww! I could get broody Grin

mous I like your DD1 style, not easy for you but funny

StoneBaby · 04/12/2011 08:24

BG how tall is your DD2?

BabyGiraffes · 04/12/2011 09:25

SB I'll try and catch her to measure her later Xmas Grin. A few weeks ago she was 80cm. I only checked because I thought it odd that she is totally swamped by clothes dd1 wore at 18mths... And I guess people only really notice she's on the small side because both myself and dd1 are very tall (dd1 has been 98th centile for height since she was a few months old).

StoneBaby · 04/12/2011 10:31

BG good luck catching her Xmas Grin DS is 84cm which put him on 26th centile.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 04/12/2011 10:53

BG I am sure she has grown but the rate at which they are growing is slowing down (again) after 1.5 yo. They take 5 cm in 6 months (so less than 1 per month) roughly a bit less if smaller than 50%.
DD1 stopped growing after she had chicken pox for almost a year (but she had it very strongly) weight was 0kg and height only 4 cm in a year (well below what is expected) did your DD had a virus recently? that could explain the dip, I am sure she is fine though, there is no point comparing her with your DD1 (as you know already, it is hard ins't it?). How is she doing on her curve?

DD2 finally manage to do her jigsaw on her own (you know the one piece like that). I profusely congratulate her, DH just got out "but DD1 was doing it at 1 yo", and he is the second child deemed not as clever as his sister and is still saddened by it, grrr.

oops have to dash

InmaculadaConcepcion · 04/12/2011 12:26

PA your DS is gorgeous!!

Love the pix of your DD2 dressing up, BG, so funny!

Great to hear from you, mous - love your DD1's Xmas list!

Not much to report here, really. Quietish weekend, I seem to have developed a UTI (all that ttc.....), FX it will go away on its own..... Otherwise all is well....

OP posts:
PenguinArmy · 04/12/2011 12:56

IC I had a UTI from the successful deed both times

Well we can add tofu to list of things DD reacts to. I'm not sure how to deal with intolerances, I worry people think I'm being precious not letting her have things especially the ILs since it's not an allergy.

mous hope you knock some sense into DH before DD2 starts picking up on things.

PenguinArmy · 04/12/2011 12:57

Nigel does have a double chin but I often photograph at angles to avoid it Xmas Grin

StoneBaby · 04/12/2011 13:50

PA is intolerance a very mild allergy? Do what's best for her and ignore others people (hard I know when they're ILs)

IC take care with the UTI, get it check.

Well Sunday roast went well (I thank the timer option of the oven as we're always out on Sunday morning and therefore I worry nothing will be cooked on time, so now with the timer we can do our chores and I konw the roast is in the oven an will be cooked on time ['fgrin] ). Now both DS and DH are napping and I've got to do the dishes and should not be on MN

PenguinArmy · 04/12/2011 14:13

intolerances

StoneBaby · 04/12/2011 14:29

Thansk for this PA still if she reacts badly to some food, I'll be cauitious and igonre people. She may grow out of it

PenguinArmy · 04/12/2011 14:36

I know I shouldn't care what people think. At the moment the only sign is runny nappies, but for all we know she could have stomach ache and discomfort and lacks the language to tell us.

BabyGiraffes · 04/12/2011 16:11

DD2 has been a little miserable all weekend (another cold?) and almost comically unhappy to be with me Hmm. A few times she had a tantrum when I as much as looked in her direction! I am not taking it personally of course Smile but it is hard on dh (who is the chosen one this weekend) because both girls want his attention and dd2 gets cross when her sister gets to him first. (dh had a very busy week last week and left early/returned late from work, so I think this has something to do with her behaviour and she felt a little neglected).

mous I am sure you are right and you are also right that it's hard not to compare Smile

IC Hope your UTI settles quickly Sad

PA Thanks for the link to food intolerance. I am beginning to wonder if dd1 has some sort of intolerance to something or other but I wouldn't know where to start testing. She's been on the loose side her entire life but it hasn't affected her growth or weight gain etc. GP told me once not to worry and it's just the way she's made... Must say I was rather relieved to have her out of nappies though.

PenguinArmy · 04/12/2011 16:40

DD is loose/soft but when she has these foods it is something else. Normally I would say food but mould-able Hmm. It's nice not to have so many daily clothes changes. I only started to think about it as it seemed to be getting worse and to a stage where I thought this just isn't right.

If you wanted to test I'd start with cutting out dairy for a week then see what happens when re-introduced. I was in my late teens when I finally worked out I was lactose intolerant, never put it together before that as stomach cramps seemed normal. However at least it's intolerances rather than allergies we have to deal with.

I hope she's more chilled in the week for you BG
