Oh no Frakk. What are you going to do? Do you know any other nanny's on the island who will agree to look after M until you're sorted?

I assumed there would be lots of high street stores on Guernsey Gache. Is it mostly independent stores?

Is your car ok? All of the accidents I have had in my cars have been stupid, minor parking malfunctions Blush

Wow,i seem to have introduced people to faecal vomitting!

GlaikitFizzog · 10/11/2011 11:44

Frak is it hot where you are? if so I offer my services! I will have a playmate for M with me, but I'm sure they'll get on just dandy!! Seriously though, what a nightmare.

Went to get B weighed today and was hijacked into getting his 6 month check done by the batty HV. She really is a liability. However, I'vecome away smug! B is apparently well ahead and doing stuff he shouldn't be until 8 months. Not really sure what!

Although she clearly knows nothing about BLW and asked if I was using Annabel Karmel!! Numpty.

JKSLtd · 10/11/2011 14:30

Been absent for a while, laptop had to go into Apple hospital for a few days. All is well now - well except i can't seem to open my photos - anyone a techie whizz on here?

Plus I have a weird request:
Would someone open this link and cut & paste the info about episode 2 & who left please?
I don't want to spoil the season by inevitably reading who won as I'm watching it on Sky at the moment Grin

chillikat · 10/11/2011 15:46

Well, I get the bad mummy of the day award - M fell off the bed again :( I'd even just looked at her and turned away when she went - she was on hands and knees and probably over balanced when she put her hand in her mouth. Fortnately she seems non the worse for it.
And she's had about 5 mintues of nap since 9am - time to try and get her to sleep again. Clearly leaving her in the cot hasn't worked.

caramellokoalalover · 10/11/2011 15:50

Welcome Choca, I'm in N London too.

JKS, Ep 2 ANTM for you:

Diane von Furstenberg

First Air Date: September 15, 2010[2]

The chosen 14 girls arrived at Venice Beach, California, where they met Venice Beach icon Harry Perry, who passed them the keys to their new loft. Amongst the first few conversations in the house, Ann's awkwardness raised eyebrows, Anamaria admitted to taking a carbohydrate-restricted diet in order to remain thin, and Kayla revealed she was a lesbian.

Afterwards, they were taken to the Hollywood and Highland Center, and were tasked to walk in a Diane von Furstenberg runway that is hoisted 4 storeys in the air; they also had to do their own hair and makeup. Kacey faced some trouble when she was unable to see the end of the runway because of her myopia, but put on a strong performance nevertheless; and Anamaria fell on her way backstage.

This week's photo shoot takes place at Smashbox Studios, themed on "Teen Bullying". Tyra and singer-actress Demi Lovato dropped by at the shoot to offer advice and raise awareness. Each girl was drawn with a word that hurt her the most as a victim of bullying, as well as a "power word" that made her overcome it.

At the photo shoot, Ann, Kayla and Chelsey were lauded for their performance, whilst Sara and Terra were criticized for looking plain and nervous respectively. Anamaria on the other hand was castigated for her overt thinness showing on film, which she ignored.

At panel, Diane von Fürstenberg sat in as the guest judge. Ann, Kayla, Chelsey and Lexie's pictures received universal praise, and while Kendal's photo was deemed as not doing justice to her beauty, Diane would still hire her in an instant. In the end, Anamaria's thinness (110 lbs) landed her in the bottom two and was subsequently eliminated for the same reason.

First call-out: Ann Ward
Bottom two: Anamaria Mirdita & Terra White
Eliminated: Anamaria Mirdita
Featured photographer: Deborah Anderson
Special guests: Demi Lovato, Diane von Fürstenberg, Harry Perry, Isaac Prado, Anita Patrickson, Marky Andrews, Damien Carney

Hope that was what you were after!

Fecal vomitting - you have scared the life out of me. I am not Googling that!

If anyone's made it this far...I was coming on to ask for help on constipation - help! S, not me, unlike in pregnancy days. What can I give her? Prune juice? I'm doing BLW but she's not actually swallowing much yet. She's pooing but it's not easy and she's screaming while she's doing it Sad. Help April ladies!

caramellokoalalover · 10/11/2011 15:51

x-post chilli, Sad glad M seems fine after the fall. Hugs for you, hope you don't feel too bad.

chillikat · 10/11/2011 16:10

I'm ok caramello, more importantly so is she. We were just getting ready to go to baby yoga when it happened so after I'd calmed her and checked her over we went to yoga - the children's centre staff agreed she seemed fine and just said to keep an eye on her. She's a got a lump on her head but I suspect there'll be lots more of those to come in the next few years.
And she's finally having a nap :)

Re poo - are you giving her water? Though M tends to spit it out. When I was worried about constipation I gave her an Ella's Kitchen pouch that included prunes. Or you could try dried apricots as you're BLW.

We almost have the opposite problem at the moment - I've lost count of the number of poos today and they've gone very loose again. I'm assuming it's teething related as both bottom teeth have just made an appearance.

Cyclebump · 10/11/2011 16:13

You're not a bad mummy Chilli, H is constantly bumping himself and seems fine!

For constipation Caramello, I was told orange juice (one part juice to nine parts water). I give H quite a lot of water with his food following some plasticine poo issues, I've also upped his fruit intake and make sure he has around a pot of fruit purée a day, I mix it with yoghurt, spread it on toast, whatever it takes!

We give finger foods and spoon feed as well, mix and match seems to suit H Smile

JKSLtd · 10/11/2011 16:35

Thanks Caramello :)

Obv I have not outed myself as a crap-tv watcher hey ho Blush

DS1 stopped the recording halfway through so I missed it. I knew that one would be eliminated though, I'm getting better at 'reading' their editing, lol.

DD currently loving one of the boys fire engines - MIL would not be impressed... Wink

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/11/2011 17:08

caramello - fresh figs cut into quarters seem to work wonders for I's digestive system. I feeds himself with them, but I have to be very vigilant otherwise he sucks the whole lot in. If they're very ripe that's fine because the skin breaks down very easily in his mouth. If she does find it difficult to eat, scoop the flesh out with a spoon and feed her that way.

I watch ANTM as well JKS Blush. I used to quite like Tyra but she seems to be turning into a parody of herself recently.

Book Group tonight, only problem is I havent read the book! I'm still going along for a natter though!

fraktious · 10/11/2011 19:50

I don?t know what we?ll do about the nanny. She needs to leave soon to get back to her family, I need her on the 15th and after that we can manage. Just. Then January again we need help... There isn?t really anyone here who could do it, nannies aren?t the preferred mode of childcare!

Why and how did faecal vomit get involved? Yeuch, I feel ill just thinking about it.

chilli you?re not a bad mummy at all ? these things happen and they will happen more and more often. Babies are surprisingly resilient.

jks busted. I love crap stuff like that, though. It?s utterly mindless but great escapism.

caramello we give M whole apricots and prunes. He sucks with great gusto!

Can anyone do me a favour and read through a radio script for a nativity play?

Sassy20 · 10/11/2011 20:21

Frak if you're serious about the script I'll read through it. I worked as broadcast journalist for five years at bbc radio.

GsyGacheFiend · 10/11/2011 20:43

"My name is GsyGache and I to am an addicted to NTM, it's been 3 days since my last episode"

Good luck with the Nanny situation frak

I gave P her first fig for breakfast this morning. They were pretty ripe but I pulled off the purple top skin and just gave her the white flesh/seeds, she still polished off most of it. We were out at lunchtime so she just had banana and ricecakes on my lap. Tea was skate & veg.

ILTMI it was mostly independent stores here but there's not so many of those these days either, there are a lot of empty shops Sad. We have a few chain stores and franchises but our town isn't what it used to be.

chilli Just wait until they're walking, although walking is the wrong word. Toddlers don't walk, they run until they either fall over or something gets in their way Wink

I had the Christmas costume note in DS tray at pre-school today, his starring role is:

A sheep Grin

GlaikitFizzog · 10/11/2011 20:53

I know DS isn't a baby, but please please please get this for P. <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=childs+sheep+costume&um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&sa=N&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&biw=1024&bih=456&tbm=isch&tbnid=CvIgUSA-zWXG-M:&imgrefurl=www.thisnext.com/tag/toddler-costumes/items/%3Fstart%3D30&docid=mrbOKuDCyfN8rM&imgurl=s6.thisnext.com/media/largest_dimension/9B4BF823.jpg&w=300&h=300&ei=yDi8Tsn7MdDJsgal5Lz7Ag&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=628&vpy=117&dur=398&hovh=225&hovw=225&tx=104&ty=229&sig=109911399272717692748&page=2&tbnh=105&tbnw=107&start=6&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:15,s:6" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Baaaaaaaa! For DS I would get white tshirt & leggings and stick cotton wool balls to them, black gloves and socks. I have also made an adults sheep costume out of an old fleecy under blanket! I have spent too many years involved with amdram!!

JKSLtd · 10/11/2011 21:12

Fizz - that outfit is soo cute!

Lol as NTM Anon group Grin

That reminds me DS1 is a star in his play, I am now wise to his school, so rather than hunting out yellow clothes I asked his teacher - yep buy an outfit from Asda, etc. sigh, hoping i can get one online.

GlaikitFizzog · 10/11/2011 21:18

JKS - Look no further!

I remember being a shepherd in my nativity at school! Scratchy kaftan with a tea towel on my head secured by a pair of twisted tights!!

GsyGacheFiend · 10/11/2011 21:31

Grin at the star costume.

I've just ordered this for DS job done.

JKSLtd · 10/11/2011 21:38

Gsy - that is terrific!!!

Fizz - I looked at asda and they have a cheap & nasty one so have ordered that. Also ordered some royal blue sweatshirts for DS2 as an experiment as his school supplier ones are crap quality and the PTA told mw last week one of them would sew on badges for me at #2 each Grin

Pound sign not working Hmm

GsyGacheFiend · 10/11/2011 22:34

I think we have escaped lightly JKS, have you seen this thread in Chat

caramellokoalalover · 11/11/2011 09:17

PMSL at the turkey thread! We've got all that to come.

Oh and JKS I understood the pain of missing an elimination. I'm joining the NTMAnon Group too. I have 6 episodes of BINTM to catch up on. I might have to watch at double speed though, I think this series has been a bit boring. And Elle is no Tyra. All my TV time is going into watching Masterchef Australia atm. Loving it.

Thanks for all the advice on constipation. You girls are the best. Knew you'd have answers. Off to Sainsboires later to fetch supplies. Got to make those poos softer.

Frak sounds like a disaster re the nanny. Will you be able to get someone new to start in Jan?

MrsWajs · 11/11/2011 10:54

R had her first slice of toast this morning!
No biggie to those of you doing BLW probably but since we went down the puree route I am super chuffed Grin No choking or coughing either she just sucked it all to death and then swallowed......and then had a weetabix as well - fat little beast she is :)

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 11/11/2011 16:36

Well done R!

T has been asleep in his bed for 2 hours Shock I am thinking I ought to wake him up, but that feels very unnatural Grin

The whole day is thrown out because I had to go and get DS1 from preschool when he'd only been there for an hour because the reckon he had the squits. He seems fine to me, but has decided he is poorly and has retired to the sofa with his Thomas blanket and keeps issuing very polite but firm requests GrinGrin

kittycatcat · 11/11/2011 16:53

Apologies for lack of name checking. Back to work Monday so will be able to 'talk' properly. S is 6 months today, and has bronchilitis. Got anti b's and an inhaler. Need the mask for the inhaler tho and it has to be ordered and takes two days. Tut.

Hope ur all ok

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 11/11/2011 17:37

kitty if you want to use the inhaler before then, you can make a 'mask' by making a hole in the bottom of a yoghurt pot or something to poke the inhaler through and then hold that over his mouth. Better is if you have starbucks cup or something else paper because you can cut the top to a better shape to fit round his face.

GlaikitFizzog · 11/11/2011 17:38

I'm meant to be going into work on Monday and Tuesday next week for a couple of KIT days. I emailed my boss last week with a couple of questions and confirming I'd be coming in, did she remember? No reply! So I called today and left a message for her to call me back as she was in a meeting. She hasn;t called me back Angry! So wise Aprilites, what do I do? Do I still go in on Monday when in all likely hood nothing will be sorted for me, no access etc. Or do I just not bother? I personally feel like doing the latter because I'm so pissed off, but I know I should go in and be the bigger person.
