Morning ladies.

lady My my you've had it rough. How is the infection today? Clearing nicely I hope. Maybe celebrate O's birthday on the Saturday, have a little something to look forward to after the funeral? Am thinking of you.

beans Job sounds brill, hope you are still holding up okay. Have a great weekend away.

aaa & vag so soEnvy at the weight losses. I started off well enough but this past week I have drunk more than my body weight in wine and eaten utter shite. However, I did run a 10K last week, just on my own round the park etc...couldn't quite believe I'd gone that far till I mapped it when I got back!

They have now discovered Nan has stomach cancer, which is probably what caused the stroke. There is a slim possibility (very slim) that she could be covered on her Limited Insurance (which we have only just realised she had!). Anyhow, Dr is talking of next week as possibly ruling her fit to be repatriated. So we have been in touch with a company who have been beyond helpful, and taking some of the stress of that away at least. However, she currently has a raging infection so who knows if she will make it home. Very much one day at a time, if she does come home it will only be Palliative care I suspect.

Much love to everyone else....I second writing of Nov 2011.

Oh Deids so very sorry to hear that update on your nan. I hope she can be home with you soon. Such a worry for you all.

AAA, I know what you mean about the work. I am working those sort of hours too, but happily only 3 days a week. i am a complete zombie most of hte rest of the time. Hope it passes off soon and you can stop working so much. You are not a horrible mummy in the slightest, even if you don't feel at your mummying peak. My mum worked full time from when I was 5 and as a result was always tired and very shouty, but I still remember her as being the best mum in the world as she was mine. (Sorry, she's 77 and very much alive, in case that sounds too gloomy!)

Love to everyone on here. I agree that we should bin November and hope that Dec brings some lovely treats and happy news for us and our families Smile.

LadyThompson · 19/11/2011 14:55

Oh no Deids, that is horribly sad. I just hope the infection abates a bit you can get her home asap. And I hope the limited insurance is worth something. Crikey, it's like we've got a black cloud over the thread. Awful.

AAA, is that the project you got behind on when you were on jury service? Think how satisfying it will be when it's all over. You said you had a date from whence things would improve - was it 13th or 16th Dec? - so try not to worry about family stuff if you can. Just another three weeks then you can have a splendid family Christmas.

Are we Secret Santa-ing this year? I think Santa had a little too much cheerfulness last year as he forgot to visit ZJ and myself but if anyone's up for it, I am Grin

How is M progressing with the TT, Sybs? Still no hope of it here. Erm, I get the distinct impression they think it's me that's at fault at pre-school and that I can't be arsed. But I cannot (and would not, even if it were possible) force DD1. I cannot believe she is 3 next week and will not even give it a try. But hey.

JJ, I meant to say - how are your plumbing dramas now? It sounded quite a shocker, what you had going on with things stuck on with blu-tack and the like....

Rubes, sorry, you kindly asked about the job I applied for. I had a letter a couple of weeks ago to say I didn't even get a interview, though I had expected this. There was only ever a slim chance I would be called to interview as a wild card. It was clear what sort of person they wanted in terms of experience and it was also very clear that (although I know darn well I could have done the job) it was going to be the longest of shots. Still glad I applied though. Are you watching Pan-Am?

Ahhh, you talk about weightloss, DB. Three months of low or no carb (no bread/rice/pasta etc, a little wine, a jacket potato perhaps once a fortnight) and I have lost a tiny amount of weight but not much. Mind you, the last two or three weeks, any exercise has gone out the window.

LadyThompson · 19/11/2011 14:56

Not sure why that posted twice. It's like the old days with my crazee phone.

LadyThompson · 19/11/2011 18:27

Am so disillusioned am going to have an Indian takeaway. I don't actually feel too guilty though because aside from about one takeaway a year at Mum's, and perhaps one a year that DP has ordered, I have not personally ordered a takeaway since 2006. I like them but beat myself up if I eat them. Not tonight though!

Rubena · 19/11/2011 22:16

Just a quick one.
Lady so glad you are sounding more upbeat. Just finished a curry ourselves as dh's uncle is over and had a last min one. Christmas diner # 1 tomorrow before he goes home to the US too Grin (in between packing) Having said that, I've been flat out, and it wasn't until 4pm that I realized I hadn't eaten a THING all day - AAA I totally get that adrenalin thing........
Deids Sad got your message....... Hoping for better news soon.......
DD and DS having been unpacking as fast as I've been packing Hmm challenging... Then DD got clocked on the bridge of her nose with a roll of packing tape, then at swimming decided to jump in herself without me watching and scraped the side of her face....... and it was underwater photo day Hmm anyway, she wore a Santa hat and grinned the whole time so fingers crossed for a good piccy despite the cuts and bruises visable!
Right, believe it or not - packing to do now....... urgh....

Rubena · 20/11/2011 00:42

Lady, meant to add - erm, what organisational skills!?!? Think I crave them but don't actually have any! im a shambles this week!
bummer about the job, but when one door closes.........
have FUN Beans!
Vag the swans were truly terrifying! Lol seriously It was shameful but they came thundering over this little bridge into the car park in a massive gang, just as I had buckled dd into the buggy, and the leader of the pack was about as tall as DS and constantly bighting the others to keep back as clearly he or she was going tondeal with us !!! I've never been so terrified of a bird in all my life, I actually threw dd in the front seat and screamed at DS to "get in the car fast" Clearly swans with major attitude. We retreated to then playground closer to home...... Never again stopping there.

VagolaJahooli · 20/11/2011 11:17

Rubes I find swans & geese the most terrifying of all creatures, and I'm Australian! My friends and I were surrounded by a pack of large geese at a table eating our lunch. We had to abandon our lunches on the table & run for our lives. I used to look after a cheeky little boy at home who had downs syndrome & a trachyostomy. Knowing I was scared of geese he used to demand I take him to the local city farm and feed them.

Lady I think it is lovely that DP is doing the reading and a good choice, he will convey the sentiment your SM wants to express without causing it to crack with emotion. Anyway at the end of the day it is the wish of the women who has just lost her lover, it should be respected whatever anyone thinks.

I've not actually lost much weight only 1kg but I have lost cms which is good. I do wander if I will start losing more soon as my body recognises that I am definitely not feeding anymore. My PT has given me some good tips on eating including having a little snack of low fat yoghurt & almonds between meals and not having much carb at night. So I'm cutting back further on carbs and will see what happens. I have finally bought a dress for the wedding, just a cheapy H&M number but I really like it. I am a little nervous about how I'll look as I will be the large western lady at the wedding compared to loads of tiny fashionable Asian women. But it looks ok, I just need to get rid of those little wibbly bits at the side of my chest where it meets my underarm, do you know that bit.

DB I'm so glad someone is taking some of the stress from you, this all must be taking such a strain on your mum as well as the rest of you. What happened with your cousin telling your brother? Also, did she get much of a nice holiday with your mum before this happened. It would be nice to know at least before this happened she had enjoyed a few days nice break.

AAA that all sounds way too much, how are you coping? I'm grumpy like that at the boys so often, and I don't have the excuse of work. Those times when I'm a grumpy mummy the boys have nicknamed mummysaurus days. Please look after yourself.

ZJ I knew there was more to that story Wink

Well I have two poorly boys at home now both with raging temps. They are not too bad during the day but overnight are so sick. Poor DS1 had the most scary dreams and kept waking screaming, while DS2 kept waking with his cough. My lovely friend who was due to arrive on Friday had to get off the plane as her daughter was unwell so they had to give up on their weekend away. It was sad as their DD has a strange seizure & heart disorder and they had decided a weekend away with us would be nice as its not far and I'm a nurse so could babysit while they had a much needed night out together. Oh well best they didn't come because if their DD wasn't ill when she arrived she would've been by the time she left.

Anyway better go, we are going to bundle these two into the running chariot thing with warm clothes and the dvd and go for a run near the beach.

ZuleikaJambiere · 20/11/2011 11:44

LadyT I hope you're starting to recover and have had lots of rest? I am v impressed that you've not ordered a takeaway since 2006! A takeaway is very regularly my answer to a whole host of questions Blush. I'd be up for a secret Santa, I love a surprise!

Beans I hope you've had an amazing weekend? The timing couldn't have been better as you are so deserving of some you time right now.

AAA I'm amazed you found time to drop in to see us at all, with all that you're doing at mo. I hope the time til the end of the project flies, not long left now

Deids your poor Nan seems to have so many up and downs. Everything is crossed that she can be repatriated this week. Is it H's birthday soon. I think of him and little LadyT as being the oldest on the thread, do they share their birthday?

When is moving day Rubes? It must be v soon now. I hope the photos came out well, despite the bumps. The swans sound terrifying - apparently my Mum got attacked when I was in a pushchair and she was convinced the swans would wrestle the buggy off her and drag me and it into the lake. Fortunately that didn't happen, but she still hates swans 30ish 21 years later

I'm having a duvet day as I woke in the night with stomach cramps coming in waves. I was starting to panic it might be early labour so have been so thrilled when D&V started. DH has taken DD to a party this morning, but he was supposed to be working, so my amazing friend is taking E home from the party for a couple of hours while he works. I love her. I am zonked in front of the telly and really should eat something, but can't think of anything I remotely fancy. Roll on tomorrow when it has hopefully passed, blurgh

ZuleikaJambiere · 20/11/2011 11:46

Crossed with Vaj, I hope your boys pick up soon, poor loves

LadyThompson · 21/11/2011 00:18

I am pretty sure DB's DS is 24 Nov, the day before O. Isn't that right Deids? Our other November poppet is Urbane's DD on, I think, 28th.

Anyway ZJ my love I do hope you are resting. How scary to have cramps like that. Hope the D&V has passed over.

How are those poorly boys, Vag? Poor little guys. They have my every sympathy. Well done on the inch/weightloss. Bet you'll look swell in the dress. I mean in a good way! More food tips from your PT, if you please! I'm all ears. (Well, all hips really).

Rubes, the swans sounded horrid. I once got trapped on a narrow tow path trying to return to work after my lunchbreak with two giant, shagging swans. It was in my first job and I was anxious to impress so after about ten mins I took a deep breath and rushed past them. I don't know if they were Mr and Mrs, they could have been Mr and Mr as they looked identical.

Today's been cruddy. Rowed with DP, and DD1 has been really naughty. She is going through a very disobedient phase and keeps hitting me. It's horrible. Made good inroads with the going through bags of clothes though it did rub my nose in it a bit that I used to have nicer clothes and was obv a lot thinner. I've kept plenty though. Hope springs eternal! And if I lost another stone I could squeeze into a fair few. Night ladies.

DeidreBarlow · 21/11/2011 07:09

Yes lady is quite right DS is 3 on Thursday! How the heck did he get so big? We are having a little tea party for him with a 'handful' of little people. Feel a bit mean as when DD was 3 she had a big party (daft). Still he doesn't really get what a birthday is and as long as everyone sings 'happy Birthday' to him he'll be happy.

DS is really naughty all the time too it seems. He can be quite the little thug when he wants to be. He nipped his Sunday School teacher yesterdayShock. He has a session this aft at the Pre School he starts in January, I'm praying he is going to be good.

ZJ I'm sorry to hear about the D&V but am pleased that's all it is - must be been quite scary for you.

Vag Hope the boys are picking up a bit, poor things.

Rubes Hows the packing coming on?

OP posts:
Beans36 · 21/11/2011 08:12

ZJ - are you feeling any better? Did you get any food down you that stayed?

Rubes - I confess I was giggling when I read about the swans!

Lady - I'm so sorry you had a rubbish day yesterday. Poor you. Are you feeling any happier this morning? And if I were you, I really wouldn't worry about your weight. You looked fantastic at the meet up a few weeks ago. I hope all sorted with your DP?

I can't believe our littles are turning 3 - am actually quite depressed about it. And DD2 is 17 months now. Scary! DD1 is turning into a bit of a minx as well. Not hitting or violence yet, but tantrums worthy of an Oscar, over nothing!

Had a lovely weekend away this weekend. Unfortunately I have got sinusitis, but am on antibiotics. I managed to find our local walk in clinic, so went there early on Saturday on way to station and got them. Also bought some belting painkillers called Nuromol. Thank God I did as was in a lot of pain - headache and toothache and sinus ache. But a few pills later and was feeling better. Was lovely to see my girly mates and have a good old chinwag. We're all total lightweights and didn't get hammered at all, just a bit tiddly and had a curry. And I won a cuddly seahorse on the pier for DDs. Tried to win a second one, but failed miserably! Now am home and back to reality of looking after 2 smalls. Lady - I was snorting salt water loads over the weekend. It was amazing, although snot went everywhere. YACK!

Sybs - are you ok? How is your lovely new kitchen shaping up? Are your builder issues sorted?

Trace - how are you doing? How are you feeling?

Deids - how is your Nan?

I know I've missed loads, but my quick catch up has turned into a ramble. Surprisingly enough.

Beans36 · 21/11/2011 11:33

PS Does anyone know about the side effects of chemo? Dad has terrible tummy cramps and diarrohea today - I think it's normal, but just checking. x

JollyBear · 21/11/2011 14:10

Hello everyone,

Nausea is def a side effect beans but I'm not sure about cramps etc. Does he have a macmillian nurse he can ring for reassurance? Glad you are feeling better now too. Your sinus thing sounds awful. How does the saltwater thing work?

ZJ Hope you feel better now. Being sick with a belly full of baby is vile.

ladyT No hitting here but out and out disobedience certainly. I find it really hard to deal with. Sorry about the row.

AAA Sorry to hear work is so hard. We are all snappy mummy sometimes, don't beat yourself up about it.

vag What a shame your friends had to cancel. Did the boys enjoy their trip out in the chariot?

We're a house of snot. DD1 has been lying on the sofa in her PJs all day. DD2 is a snotmonster and is getting her top teeth. DH and I are both grotty too. Yuck.

VagolaJahooli · 21/11/2011 15:00

Beans I think this is a side effect, but I think it is always best to report any changes. Is he an inpatient?

VagolaJahooli · 21/11/2011 15:07

JB they were happy because they had Cars 2 to watch on the portable dvd player.

Both mine are camped out on the coach watching Bolt now. DS1 was too sick for school, and now I'm feeling a bit iffy. I'm way too busy to get sick, we leave for Australia in 2 weeks, we are organising an early birthday party for DS2, I have a session with the PT tomorrow & Friday, dutch lessons tomorrow night which I can't miss and its book club tonight and I chose the books and so am leading the discussion. On top of that the party I'm co-co-ordinating is this Saturday and there is still heaps to do. At least with DS1 sick he won't be going to violin lessons tomorrow.

Beans36 · 21/11/2011 20:05

Hi Vag, no, not an inpatient, but has been to GP who has given him some nausea combative stuff and he's been snoozing and is apparently a bit better. Sister going down tomorrow and me the next day - sinuses permitting.

Busy bee, you!

Snot everywhere here too, but not ill enough for a day on the sofa for anyone. Boohoo! Getting DD1 these for Xmas.

LadyThompson · 22/11/2011 00:14

Just to say to Beans (and thanks for saying I looked nice at the meet up) diarrhoea is deffo a known side effect of chemo. As is constipation and just about any gastric disturbance. Hope he feels better soon. Hey, glad you tried snorting the salt water! I was very dubious after my GP suggested it but it eased my sinuses and gave me real relief. Though it is of course vile.

More in the morn.

Beans36 · 22/11/2011 20:22

Hi all
Had my morning at work and afternoon off. Was nice. Dad's really not well from chemo. Had a dash to hospital in middle of last night with Mum. District nurse is giving him anti-cramps injections on and off today. They were due to go on a mini break to north Wales on Sunday to see Dad's sister, but Dad wasn't up to it. Mum drove up there this morning - 5.5hrs. My middle sister is looking after him today, but Mum is driving back tonight, despite us all telling her to have a night off. My sister says Dad's lost a stone in the last few days. Feeling rather miserable. Poor poor Dad. And Mum.
Sorry to be so self-indulgent.
November 2011 is shit. My NCT friend's Dad has just been diagnosed with bladder cancer and my lovely friend from school's Dad died of brain and lung cancer yesterday. I just wish I was 10 again. I don't want to be grown up! It's too hard! Weeeep!!!

Beans36 · 22/11/2011 20:57

On a lighter note, I do love Masterchef and I'm a Celeb.

VagolaJahooli · 22/11/2011 20:59

These are for you Beans Thanks...oh and this Wine...you might like these Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit. That's all I've got, thinking of you babe.

Beans36 · 22/11/2011 21:01

Vag - I love you for that. Thank you xxx

traceface · 22/11/2011 21:18

evening ladies
It's certainly been a tough month for so many of our thread hasn't it? Beans you are surrounded by sadness Sad How awful for your friends. I hope your dad starts to feel better soon. And stop apologising for your posts. How are your lovely girlies?
lady how are you feeling today? I am so sad for you having had so much loss to deal with in your life. Re dd1, I think it's an age thing. P is certainly like JB's dd1 and is being really stubborn and disobedient about lots of things. They're fab when they're alseep though Wink
DB your poor nan Sad I hope she gets over this infection quickly so she can come home. Are you ok?
rubs those swans sounded scary Shock Did you come over all protective and maternal? Hope you enjoy your Christmas dinner!
ZJ how's the tum today? I realised today who you remind me of - the girl from the IT crowd
thanks for asking how I am. I'm alright. Bit teary and a bit worried about a few things, but generally ticking along ok. I have a little family sadness - my uncle fell quite dramatically whilst working on a building project a couple of weeks ago. He was very badly hurt and has been in ICU since the accident. We had thought he was on the mend last week but now has another clot in his lung so is bein transferred to G U Y s hospital - is it good? So any spare prayers for him would be gratefully received.
My girls both have snotty colds but are pretty well in themselves. I took P to her friend's party on Saturday (Lady it was 1
3rd birthday party and the birthday girl is still in nappies - her mum says she just refuses to wee on a potty or toilet - and there were quite a few of her 2 and 2 year old friends there with nappies on). P had a fab time Smile I really can't believe how old they are already. Beans I wonder why you feel sad about them ageing? Is it because you want them to stay young? I want P to stay young. I think it's largely due to the fact that we won't be having any more, so it's my last chance to have a little one - and now she's not so little.
Re the house, all has been quiet for ages but we have got somebody viewing it tomorrow - and they have sold their own property, so fingers crossed!
Anyway I must go. Big hugs to all.
