Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Trudyla · 20/09/2011 17:38

The woman with the newborn girl with Edwards syndrom just posted that they'd got it wrong and she does not have it. She has some issues but very likely not life-threatening. I am so pleased.

stac No, no, you didn't get it wrong. She is walking now, just not all the time.

Well, my massage was a-bloody-mazing. It felt so good and I felt lighter than air after, which is quite an achievement considering that I'm the bloody size of a house. I'm normally not that keen on being all but naked infront of strangers, but somehow I really didn't care and just soo enjoyed it. I may have even dribbled a bit Grin

What are you all up to?

viksam · 20/09/2011 19:24

trudy man the massage sounds fab! wish our docs perscribed it, was it for a specific thing? How funny re the dribble.
mylife sorry, yes u did mention that, so whats the plan now?
memp sorry i totally missed ur post, it was just a morrisons own stain remover spray, i think its pretty good, i guess it depends what the stain is though.
My dh is out in the garage pressing weights, he wants to do it for half hour every week day evening as he has just told me he has high blood pressure, the doc told him last time he went but he didnt tell me because he didnt want to worry me, so hes decided to eat more healthily and do more excersize, which is great as long as he continues to pull his weight with D. I have to say, since i ranted on here hes been fab, even got up to him again last night, maybe i look like death warmed up and its spured him on to do more??
D's sleeping has been shocking again, i really dont know why, these 4 teeth are still coming through and its less than a week since his jabs and he has a slight cold so maybe its everything all put together, but 5.50am he woke this morning after being up twice in the night, not good.

Need more meal ideas for D, easy stuff that i can batch cook, hes not keen on pasta or mince, which kinda limits me regarding my ability to cook!!! but throw some thought my way please!!!

Right, must go and throw some salad on a plate for dh!!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 20/09/2011 19:28

fish pie
lentil dahl
curry (any meat)
Hearty soups (ie with lots of root veg and potatoes in it)
Cauliflower cheese
Sausage casserole

memphis83 · 20/09/2011 19:46

evening all!
viksam will get some im willing to try anything and a spray will be better for me as I hate soaking stuff! when are you due?
trudyla thats great about that lady, not long now, im also shocked at new ones arriving, I dont get broody, my niece is lovely but I dont want her, but saw my friends nursery for her baby due in 3 weeks and I nearly cried, I got really emotional, I hate L having to share his room with our crap! he is going to have the best room ever when we move next year.

We have been to the seaside today, it was cloudy and grey but not cold even with the wind! L loved it he hasnt ever been to a beach...well he did at a month old. we bought him some wellies that he had me crying he looked so funny when he walked in them and we got his coat on and went for it, he kept running for the sean and in the end he was fully dressed in the water not wanteing to get out eventhough it was f.reeeeee.zing, we also went to the sealife center there he loved the penguins and seals, we wanted to go on a sea tour on an anphibious boat as I had never seen one before but the sail times kept being put back due to winds so we didnt do it.
I have to say I refused to get out of the car at first it looked so depressing and horrible, im not into seaside towns at all but was so lovely as L enjoyed it so much!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 20/09/2011 19:50

lots of stuff here vik

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/09/2011 20:07

Trudy- wow the massage sounds good you're very lucky getting them free!

I bought D his first pair of shoes today from Clarks. I posted a pic on my fb profile. I think they'll take a bit of getting used to for him but it's nice that he can walk outside now, he's starting to walk more than crawl now.

viksam · 20/09/2011 21:35

Thanks mylife i shall take a look, i just wish i had a bit more time to do stuff. I did make lasagne, bolognaise and a chilli last week. I tried D with the bolognaise but he didnt like it at all.............bummer, coz it had lots of veg in it, he should have liked it, i need to persevere with it i think.

CakeandRoses · 21/09/2011 08:23

morning all,

great news about the lady on your thread trudy. really nice to hear that. and i didn't realise M was properly walking either so congratulations!

massage is a great idea - i'd be v happy for my taxes to be spent on things like that here as it's so beneficial in reducing stress and keeping bodies healthy.

vik its said that you'll often have to give young children a new food 10 times before they'll accept it so don't give up hope with any of your cooking too soon! i certainly had to persevere with some of the dishes that my two now readily eat and they now eat practically anything (bigboy eats anything except mushrooms and raw tomatoes, babygirl eats anything except 'wet' savoury food like soup as I think she thinks it should be pudding as she never had pureed veg etc)

serve up a new foods with other things you know he'll eat so you don't need to worry that he'll go hungry. don't make a big deal out of anything - whether he does or doesn't eat it. and make sure he sees you eating all sorts of things - when he does preferably. i always eat with my two even if its just a small snack when they have their dinner as i eat with dh later.

tiny finger food like peas, beans and sweetcorn often seems popular with children and is packed full of protein and other nutrients. and rice sounds like a nightmare but children often like to scoop it up - it's one of my two's fave food.

memph i'm a bit like that with the seaside in cold weather. hate the idea of it but end up loving it!

quiet day here - bigboy's off to his music class on his own for a while this afternoon. i feel a bit sad that babygirl can't go with him anymore tho as she adored it. i'm thinking that when he does an extra half a day in nursery (2.5 days a week in total then), i'll keep her off and do a class with her then. will be lovely to have some time with her on her own again so really looking forward to that.

OP posts:
Woodlands · 21/09/2011 08:34

why can't A go to the music class any more, cake? does f go on his own now?

Viksam, J is steadily getting more fussy now and eats fewer and fewer vegetables. Luckily he eats most fruit and lots of other stuff, so I give him a meal made up of stuff I know he'll eat and stuff I think he won't, and I don't stress about what he does or doesn't eat.Easy enough to do that when he eats plenty though.

how exciting about the shoes dh! proper big boy moment.

memphis83 · 21/09/2011 08:39

viksam it takes 17 times for a babies tastebuds to 'decide' if they like it, L really doesnt like lasagme or bolognaise as he hates the texture of mince, ive tried for months, if he has been used to jars then he wont be used to the texture, try blitzing it slightly so its not so textured maybe?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 21/09/2011 08:52

baby is going into nursery on Friday afternoon - biglad is already in for the day as i swapped them due to the hospital appt, which means...I have Friday afternoon to myself Shock

Have booked a hait appt for 2pm, I can't. bloody. wait.

If ds1 handles it ok I'l book him in on a Friday until he starts school. If he doesn't I'd feel too guilty making him go every week just so that I can get a break.

Got a pill check this morning then off to the wholesalers to sort out the food for the Christening this afternoon.

Sorted out some stuff to sell this week. I will put it on ebay if needs be but I hate ebay so just text my father to see if he's doing a carboot sale anytime soon. Hopefully he can sell it for me!

wrt food, ds2 won't eat fruit. I try to make up for it with vegetables but find it so annoying that I have one who would eat fruit all day and avoid meals given a choice, and another who won't touch the stuff Confused

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 21/09/2011 08:55

vik, memph has a point there. Even though mine haven't really had jars I still either do mince meals in the slow cooker or put it in the food processor if I do it on the hob. Either of those ways it is nice and soft in texture

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 21/09/2011 14:44

omg - I just took baby's t-shirt off (he is still really bad for drooling and his top was soaked) and he twisted away from me whilst sat on my knee and his cast came clean off in my hand! Shock Shock Shock

I rang the hosp and they said I can either leave it until Friday's appt (it's first thing) or take him to A&E and get a temp cast. I've asked dh what he thinks I should do and he's ringing me back in a minute

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/09/2011 18:07

I'd be tempted to wait til fri if the hosp said that they can't think it's too serious otherwise they would have said to go straight in but that's just me!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 21/09/2011 19:20

Yeah we've left it - he seems absolutely fine with it so will just see what they say on Friday. I hope to God he doesn't need another cast though, I would hate him to have a pot on for his Christening :(

Woodlands · 21/09/2011 21:04

WHen I broke my arm at this age apparently I took the cast off myself after two days, and it had already pretty much healed. I'm sure it'll be fine.

CakeandRoses · 21/09/2011 21:11

wow - a whole day to yourself mlic?! you won't know what to do with yourself! i'm very jealous, i feel like i need a break and i'm wondering about taking tomo afternoon off work whilst they're in nursery.

I reckon i'd leave it re the cast too - it's only 2 days early, i'm sure he'll be fine otherwise the hospital would have been more worried.

so exciting about all the new babies due soon. can't quite believe it as our july 2010 ones still seem like babies to me.

kk you ok? been quiet

Who else is still bf? woodlands, tsc, melissa? anyone else? when are you planning to stop? A's nearly 14m which was my minimum 'deadline' as that was when i stopped with F. tbh, i'm really not sure what i want to do now tho. she feel asleep during her bedtime bf which is unusual these days, and she looked so small and content and i realised i wasn't in that much of a rush to stop. she'll be my last one after all.

OP posts:
PublicHair · 21/09/2011 21:21

not sure when i'll stop, after winter (our house is cold!) if he can do the going to bed thing without me (and sleep through) then i don't mind. don't want to get to two,but having been up (since 4.26 this morning) i can confirm i brought him down and fed him on my knee for 3 hours and sat resting my eyes while doing so so it was 'bearable'
we're off to 'down south' tomorrow. eek.

kkfairybrains · 21/09/2011 22:30

Caks yes I'm fine just never seem to get time these days to post! Life is so much busier during the day with ellie than it has been cos she is always in the go! As soon as she sees her jacket or we come down the stairs she says 'car?' And if we're not going anywhere she throws a strop! So between work and keeping her entertained my evenings are spent cleaning, excercise class and my course!
Have been reading though and keeping up!
Was so glad to to read about the good outcome for the lady on your thread trudy! Fantastic news for her. Hard to believe you're due so soon!
How are F and R with their illness tsc and stac?
Hope friday goes well for W at his appointment mlic! Absolutely brill about getting some time all to yourself!
E has broke through 3 or 4 back teeth in the last few days! This brings us into double digits for teeth! She's still teething though but its probably the second side if the back teeth coming through. Other than that the sleep training is going ok. Still some wake ups from the teeth but she's going down by herself in the cot now with only 2 or 3 mins of sleeping
Sorry to anyone i've missed my brain is like mush this eve!

Woodlands · 21/09/2011 22:36

i've been dreaming about putting J in nursery for an extra half day a week and having an afternoon to myself, but can't quite justify the extra £20 or so at the moment.

Not sure when I'll stop BF - the current plan is to reconsider at 18 months. Tonight, however, he refused his bedtime BF for the second time in 10 days, so maybe he's self-weaning (though I did feed him three times today as his sleep all went to pot so kept trying to feed him to sleep, so maybe not!). I'm pretty happy to carry on for the moment - I can see how I would go about weaning him and i don't think it would be hard, but it's so useful to have as a tool to comfort him/feed him to sleep/calm him down/get a bit more time in bed in the morning. But then again maybe now is a good time to stop before he gets more aware/determined... oh i don't know.

Woodlands · 21/09/2011 22:38

oh yeah, meant to say, went to parent and toddler today at the children's centre and there was a baby (white, male, these things are factors) of 9 months who has just taken his first steps. He's a full FIVE MONTHS younger than J! My child is behind...

WhatSheSaid · 21/09/2011 23:31

He's not behind, honest. At work the youngest child I saw taking steps (unaided) was 8 months and the oldest nearly 2 (though that is pretty late - he was a determined bum-shuffler). Huge variance in ages they walk.

Bit seedy here after a night out at pub quiz. Only 3 beers but G decided to wake up twice and was up at 5.

CakeandRoses · 21/09/2011 23:53

why white woodlands?

he's not behind!

my friend's two boys are the same age as my two and hers walked at 10m and 9m and at the time mine seemed so slow in comparison - of course now they're all walking it doesn't matter a bit. my two have been quicker at other things but none of it means anything really - it's just what takes their fancy rather than being an indicator of intelligence or prowess.

OP posts:
MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 22/09/2011 07:51

My friend's daughter walked at 18 months. And she's a second child, and they tend to do things quicker than first children. Another little girl I know from nursery was 18 months. Most toddlers are walking by this age but certainly not all are. He is showing all the signs for 'appropriate development' so I really wouldn't worry.

Shit night here - I was awake for 1.5/2hrs (woken by baby but just couldn't get back to sleep) then my delightful toddler woke at 6.30am. He hasn't done that for a while, trust it to be today!

WhatSheSaid · 22/09/2011 08:46

I dream of mine waking up at 6.30am, that would be a lie in Grin
