Share away curlysue!

cos cute about being waved away! We are back to nursery again for settling in session. Almost cried when I left him last time. Seems strange to not have my sidekick with me only cos usually he is.

As of October HI said he'll have MB on a Monday (work allowing) so I can do whatever I need to do eg shopping, riding so that's cool. Tho I'm not holding my breath.

Time for quick cuppa and 20mins of crap tv before we head to nursery.

PollyCrystalTits · 01/09/2011 10:28

Hello biatches. Just a quicky as I am supposed to be cleaning/tidying/washing etc ready for Saturday. But I am still sat here in my pj's panicking because the friend who was bringing marquee and PA is prolly not coming now, due to falling off his motorbike and break ribs and collar bone. Dozy twat. He has been riding bikes for 35 years give or take.... can't believe he has his one and only accident the week before my party! Have arranged another marquee and hopefully just sorted PA... fingers crossed.

I am feeling much more sane after meeting up with GinHag yesterday. Was luffly and her boys are just delish. I am not going to give up my course - it is the one thing that has got me through all the shit PND. But I am going to talk to the doc about increasing the dose of my ADs. And if something has to give, it will have to be one of the jobs...

Anyway, must get off my arse. Headbutts and tequila shots to you all. Grin

AlpinePony · 01/09/2011 13:10

Oh I iz in trouble. Someone around here, perhaps someone who did his GCSE's last year, has their birthday today. Perhaps someone made such a song and dance out of my not doing anything/buying anything for their birthday - plus the stink at work, I completely forget. Now someone is in a huff and said "you could've at least said happy birthday". I did. At quarter to two. [Snigger]

FannyPriceless · 01/09/2011 13:16

pols How dare your friend have an accident without any thought for how this might affect you? Bloody selfish, I say.Wink (P.S. Hope he's OK.)

Thrilled you are sticking with the course. And you are doing a lot better than you think you are, ducky.

iggy Sorry I've not contributed much to the BF stop advice. I didn't think my 'wisdom' on the topic would be much use. We tried everything with Bonnie and only achieved the transition to bottles when I found myself in hospital having my appendix out.

MrP had to force feed her with the expressed milk I was sending home. He said it was horrible - after a day of starving and screaming he basically put her in a headlock in the crook of his arm and forced her to take it. But once she had accepted the bottle she transitioned to FF without even noticing. Not a method I'd recommend though.

Clyde is slowly getting better. He's at nursery now. The excema / rash is now scabbing over (sorry if TMI) and he has stopped the manic scratching so actually slept for most of last night. Big improvement. Hopefully he will look more like a human at party o' the century. (Seriously, everyone who sees him has gasped in horror and recoiled.)

okiecokie · 01/09/2011 13:57

FP once I was standing in a queue and I heard the woman behind me say to her mate "that doesn't look a well baby now does it". It was true, mini was so manky with ezcema he did look most ill.

SilverSky · 01/09/2011 17:03

When I was a baby my mum said I looked like a snake and all the old dears who looked in the pram would start off smiling and then their expression would turn into one of horror. Sad

Nursery went well today. MB introduced his screech to the mix. Cos he spied pudding and he had to wait! Grin. Also when I went to collect him he literally raced towards me and tried to climb up my legs. Think it's safe to say he was happy to see me.

fanny pleased to hear Clyde is getting better.

FannyPriceless · 01/09/2011 21:13

I'm so bad. MrP is upstairs trying to convince Clyde to sleep. We are supposed to be packing for our hols tomorrow. I said I'd do as much as poss while he was upstairs. Instead I have just filled up a wine glass and logged on to MN.Blush

I have been a complete slack-arse all day. Haven't even written my OCD Virgo packing list, as I usually would have. God, what has come over me? I predict a rather late get away in the morning.

CurlyCasper · 01/09/2011 22:14

fanny I hope you got some packing done. Mind you, if you really want to procrastinate, the other place has been quite busy tonight!

FannyPriceless · 01/09/2011 22:37

Ooo, really? Beetles over there... Grin

I have made up for my slack-arseness by ironing his shirts. I never iron his shirts. Must be feeling guilty...

iggypiggy · 02/09/2011 19:38

curls and cos I have an array of cups Grin including doidy, active straw thing, flip up spout tt ones, nuk soft spouted things, ones with handles, ones without etc etc... Straw is current favourite...

fp what age was bonnie when that happened? I am hoping it won't be so bad for piglet - but who knows!

Backinthebox · 03/09/2011 09:32

I tried and failed for weeks to get LG to take milk in a cup. I wanted to skip the 'formula inna bottle' stage too, but the regularity with which he stole Babychick's bottle was a bit of a hint for me. He happily takes formula in a bottle now, so I'll be trying to move him on to cups with straws asap. It would seem his favourite drinking vessel is the one his sister wants. Hmm As of this week I am now ready to finish bfing him. I've managed a year, and have only managed that thank's to a broken leg (should have been in Madrid today and tomorrow if I hadn't!) I am so looking forward to the extension being finished - I think getting him off the breast and in his own room will herald the start of better nights' sleep for me and OH.

In the last 48hrs LG has gone from not even being able to negotiate the single step from the living room to the dining room, to being able to climb up on the sofa and onto standing on the windowsill in the blink of an eye. Hmm Oh, what fun we are all having!

SilverSky · 04/09/2011 14:29

Those of you with mobile babies how do you cope with nappy changes?

MB is either grabbing and scratching his groin or scissor kicking his legs. If he's not doing that he's clawing his neck or trying to roll over.

I really hate nappy changes or anything involving changes/removal of clothes.

It's seriously a two man job and I'm normally home alone.

I've just had to change him completely due to poo exploding out the top of his nappy.

I've tried toys etc the only thing to distract him is he likes brushing his teeth and he will lay nicely whilst doing this. Tho he does get to the point where he's bored of that too.

I'm tempted to invent a baby wrist vice. It's sole purpose being to aid nappy changes. Grin

Lighttaperstandback · 04/09/2011 14:59

Wotcha all. Have had a fun weekend. Squib's 3 year old cousin came over for a visit with their gran. 2 nights away from his parents in a forrin country, and it all went rather well, although the experience of looking after a 3 year old as well as our own 9 month old deffo made me realise how knackering it must be to have 2 to look after all the time. Thank goodness we'll prob. be stopping at the 1.

Silver I'm mainly using pull-ups now. Tend to only change them simultaneously with him being put on potty, so I can just shove his feet in the holes then stand him up and pull 'em up with him standing. Definitely easier than the octopus wrestling act that is changing a normal nappy whilst my son is trying to hang from the change table by his ankles... I have heard that if you change 'em on the floor then you can put one of your legs over their waist to hold them in position...a bit...

Squib is now commando crawling at speed and has figured out how to pull himself up to standing with the right height of furniture to hand. My requirement for gin may be about to increase exponentially...

BTW, was that book any help?

rollerbaby · 04/09/2011 15:31

box sounds like a big week in the box household! Was same for us in the standing/crawling. In the space of a week he went from one step to 3 floors and standing up everywhere. Still haven't childproofed anything.

silver do you have a changing table? I have far more success giving him something to play with on the table and then quickly getting it done. If we're on the floor, it's ridiculous, he just crawls off. I don't even bother trying there now.

We have been to a dog show today. Total washout in the rain and we arrived just as 'best bark' class started. Needless to say babymoo not a fan.

Mr Moo is upstairs lying down due to a blocked ear. Hmm

We have a ''christening next week and I have done fuck all. It's mainly family, but I feel I should make some effort. So far I have one frozen wedding tier that needs icing and that's about it.

Iggy have you started stopping yet? How's it going? We obv did it at 6 months which i imagine is a bit of a different thing. Once we had got him on the bottle which had been a bit of a battle I dind't feel it was fair to keep going and just wanted to keep it simple. I weaned myself off in under 2 weeks which was probably a bit quick, physically and emotionally but it worked well and I never looked back. I'll probably feed for longer this time, and hopefully will make sure that bottle is introduced early and regularly so we don't have the same issues with expressing/bottle feeding. That is really my one regret but I guess there's no guarantees it would have been any different no matter what I had done.

SilverSky · 04/09/2011 16:43

Same here. The child is constantly cruising and screeching. I'm knackered and now ill. Hope I'm better by my return to work next week as I can't really call in sick on my first day back can I?

I must be ill cos I've the chance to ride today and I feel too rough. Sad. Bailed on my pal last minute as I was sure i would good to go but I can't even hear! Got fuggy head and feel outta sorts. So bed for me. HI is doing hoss and taking MB with. He instructed me I was not to go and to stay put.

I've walked dog so that's good. Got soaked. Turns out my waterproof jacket is errr not waterproof!

lights not started book yet!

moo we use changing table too. It's the wiping that is challenging cos of the leg kicking and hands malarkey. I literally dread every nappy change. Sad

Ps MEN!! GAH! HI has left to do hoss but it took 20mins of questions of "where is...?" beforehand. Is it wrong to want to do him harm?

CurlyCasper · 04/09/2011 16:50

a hangover is a genuine medical condition, right? A week off work would be in order? please?

Medee · 04/09/2011 17:16

I am spamming the internets, but EA has rolled, hurrah! Has done it 3 times back to front rightwards and has just done it leftwards as well.

Lighttaperstandback · 04/09/2011 21:42

Go EA the rolling tumbleweed baby!!! Prepare for your floors to suddenly become dust free. It's funny how you wait for ages, and then they suddenly just get it isn't it? Sounds like she's doing everything she should be Grin

Watching the Fred West drama. So that's cheerful viewing then.

CurlyCasper · 05/09/2011 07:23

go EA! Another development ticked off. i can feel your pride and happiness medeesteadygo.

Was it a full moon or summat last night? My child was possessed by a banshee every half hour until 3.30. Of course, she's fast asleep now, while I am about to set off for work.

laurielou · 05/09/2011 07:56

Hey, well done EA another achievement!

I find changing BugBoy a battle already - will be checking out your tried & tested methods for when he's older.

Mr Loz is home today dying of a cold. No doubt he'll be under my feet & getting in the way of my highly strict routine Grin.

SilverSky · 05/09/2011 08:19

I too am still rough. The kind of cold that makes you feel iffy in your tum, clearly it will never compete with the ills of a man! Grin

HI has gone to work and I'm battling a snotty child. To make it worse we start swimming today and I go back to work tmw. HI got a DVD out last night and guess who'll end up you know "quickly popping out and dropping it off". Angry

I've so much to do it's untrue.

Brilliant for rolling babes Meds!

Plz to hear gory details about a certain biffday party. Grin

AlpinePony · 05/09/2011 08:38

silv We went through that demonic stage - where we'd call out to the other for help with the battle cry of "hold him down!". We'd give him something to play with - a tube of nappy cream, an empty coke bottle, dog collar - whatever is at hand. Pull-ups we found made the situation 10 x as bad, one foot in, one foot out type crap. You know how you've considered putting MB in skirts? Yeh, well pull-ups compound it. :( How are you feeling about work now?

medee Well done EA! You must be thrilled. :)

I've got a couple of weeks off work - will probably do exciting things like trying to get the house/garden in order. :( Although we're going to Germany this afternoon to go swimming.

OP posts:
okiecokie · 05/09/2011 09:41

Are the swimming facilities better in Germany then Alps
Silv I can't believe you will be back at work tomorrow. I hope you are feeling a bit better and you can enjoy your last day. You know the solution to the work problem now don't you Wink

We too have heel in crap issues when nappy changing. We also have had roll totally off top of chest of draws (which is my "change table") with a crappy bum. Nice. Marks and Spencer carpet wipes are THE BEST for getting crap out of carpet. Tru fact.

SilverSky · 05/09/2011 15:09

Thanks CRESHs.

Mixed feelings really. I believe that despite my lack of libido I may be back in the breeding programme before the week is out. Wink

Swimming was brilliant. The before and after the actual swimming is a fecking mare with a mobile child. I almost wanted to cry. It was like a bad nappy change x10000000. The other mums are nice and one offers to hold MB whilst I got dressed. Gold star to that lovely lady. Total lifesaver. I was considering going home in my swimmers!!

Medee · 05/09/2011 15:38

post-swimming is not popular here either!

So, we had a follow-up appointment this morning at the hospital, this time seeing the consultant. She's not responded to the steroids as hoped, so now adding in another drug (one whose side-effect is sleepiness, AIBU to be quite glad of that?!). But the consultant also said he wasn't completely convinced by the diagnosis, as although she exhibits 2/3 of the criteria: the characteristic spasms and EEG, she doesn't have the developmental regression. this is obviously good news is one sense but confusing in another in that what we were slowly getting our head around isn't necessarily on the table. that said, it wouldn't change her treatment, as either way the spasms needs to be controlled. So, hopefully this drug will be the one to work, but there are others if not.
