Bugger, Nanny has gone and got herself a new job which means she can't look after DS anymore. What the hell am I going to do???

HarrietJones · 08/09/2011 17:15

How long have you got to find someone?
Did you have a CM as well? Any chance she has kids starting school freeing up a place? I was at a CM the other day who had a child on a phased start.
Any chance of you/dh taking leave to cover the next couple of occasions?

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 08/09/2011 17:32

Trib Try childcare.co.uk. Its free to have basic sign up and you put down what your requirements are and local CMs, nannies etc contact you. It was good for us even though I found a CM by word of mouth anyway I had 2 back ups lined up through this website. Also, many nurseries are happy to take on a child for pre-booked single days. DD only currently goes to nursery 2 afternoons a week. That is something you could try?

tiredfeet · 09/09/2011 21:54

trib hope you are managing to make progress towards a solution, must be a real headache. I know a lot of nurseries round here find they have some vacancies on fridays, as a lot of people work a short week, so it might be worth calling some to see.

Our "music" class started up again today, was lovely seeing how the babies had all changed over the summer, and good to catch up with the mums too, even if they were all looking glamourous and suntanned, whilst ds and I were in the dregs of our wardrobes due to a multiple vomiting episode this morning (just caused by his cough or I wouldn't have taken him).

Quiet on here, don't tell me you are all getting a life?

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 11/09/2011 15:56

Grin out walking the dog, but ds1 and dh have been waylaid by an anthill so dd2 and I have the sunny bench to ourselves. I hope you had a good weekend HJ :)

MonsterBookOfTysons · 11/09/2011 15:58

HJ I am back from getting a life Grin
I was busy getting addicted to Ebay, selling all the dc toys Grin
I can't believe how close the birthday's are now. How lovely :)

Had dd2s 10th birthday yesterday ( not first as I put on FBBlush). so party at lunch time then dd3s 'friend' 1st birthday at tea time.
Quiet day today. Dd3 asleep on my knee & everyone else out. Watching 9/11 stuff.

TribbleWithoutACause · 11/09/2011 16:23

TF Mock I'm seeing someone at the end of this week and I've had a word with work as well, so hopefully there'll be a solution in the next couple of weeks.

I was out over this weekend and I happened to catch sight of some girls heading out into town. I seriously think I've missed several thousand fashion memos. They were all either wearing outfits that looked a lot like something you'd see on a <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=bratz+doll&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&rls=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-SearchBox&tbm=isch&tbnid=9XudKoq6mbB6WM:&imgrefurl=thetheologianscafe.xanga.com/659303939/the-slutty-bratz-doll-and-unrealistic-barbie/&docid=bxi6ipoUHUBTxM&w=300&h=226&ei=6NFsTpiKLMad-QaJpanVBA&zoom=1&biw=1024&bih=600&iact=rc&dur=296&page=4&tbnh=129&tbnw=177&start=45&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:45&tx=87&ty=40" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Bratz doll or flowery trousers, it makes me feel old.

HarrietJones · 11/09/2011 16:25

Trib - did you watch strictly? Chelsea was v interesting fashion wise ....

tiredfeet · 11/09/2011 17:13

trib yes I have realised that pregnancy and parenthood has finally put paid to any understanding I have of what is in fashion, half the time I find myself trying to decide if they're in fancy dress or not Blush

had a blissfully quiet day yesterday, just me and ds, it is rare to have a day just the two of us relaxing and doing very little and it was lovely. this afternoon we've been to the park with some friends, feels like I'm finally getting to know a few mums where I live. wish it had happened a bit sooner, as the early months of maternity leave were a bit lonely (although dh was around a lot as his work was quiet). Still its nice now as ds is slowly gaining a few little friends to squabble with

TribbleWithoutACause · 11/09/2011 17:13

No I missed it, I'm going to catch up with it on iplayer later.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 11/09/2011 21:51

I was a bit confused with your FB entry HJ but didn't like to say anything!

Good luck with the childcare arrangements Trib. I am very behind fashion and always have been!

TF I know what you mean about finding mummy friends late in the day and in 3 weeks I'll be moving down south! Boo hiss.

Ty well done with selling the toys. I need to work out how to use Ebay!

HarrietJones · 11/09/2011 21:56

You can't edit FB can you. Think you can only delete before someone posts. I'll blame tiredness!

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 11/09/2011 22:48

I've no idea HJ.

DD was cute this evening. I had Corrie on in the background at dinner time (bad mother emoticon) and someone was saying bye bye and DD turned round waving. Smile.

TribbleWithoutACause · 12/09/2011 08:09

hj if it's a status, you can delete it regardless of if someone has posted comments on it or not. Just go on fb on the pc and press the little cross that let's you delete the post.

We dropped ds's dreamfeed last night, he slept until 5am which I think was quite good. Only downside is that Ive woken up with a lump in my right boob .

Ds is driving me a bit potty this morning, he's all over me and keeps wanting to clamber all over me. I wouldn't mind if he stayed still, but also I think I missed the fact that I've been rebranded into a little tikes climbing frame.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 12/09/2011 13:24

Just dropped DD off at nursery and she looked dead happy to join the other babies and play but not at all happy with me leaving. Then the nursery nurse got out the musical instruments and the crying ceased straight away. She's easy to please! They've also taught her to put her toys away!

Trib well done for dropping the dream feed. DD dropped her late morning feed 4 days ago and seems to be doing fine without it although she did have a little this morning only because she managed to trap her finger and a bf is the ultimate pain relief. She was up twice in the night last night though and it seemed to be hunger. I think she must be going through a growth spurt anyway because she's shovelling the food in and growing like mad.

HarrietJones · 12/09/2011 20:15

Dd3 full of cold & not had a happy day with grandma. I felt v guilty I wasnt there.although I didn't find out til I got home. Especially since I spent most of the day fighting tears about my work. I can't detach myself. I'm seeing the PND HV later this week but I'm not coping.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 12/09/2011 21:56

Sad HJ. I hope the PND HV is useful and that your DD3 gets better soon.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 12/09/2011 21:58

Oh and I don't think its necessarily symptomatic of PND. I never used to give 2 figs about those NSPCC ads or tv featuring (fictional) injured or neglected babies. I could watch them no dramas and now my heart constricts and I could cry so easily. Even watching ER today where Rhys loses his mum I felt so sad. Seeing it for real at work must be terrible.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 12/09/2011 22:41

I did not mean to belittle your feelings HJ just to say you have my empathy! I hope you weren't insulted by my post.

HarrietJones · 13/09/2011 09:08

No it's fine!

I've not worked at this end of the scale before either. Kids I worked with were in care so had had a bad life but didn't at present so I think it was easier to detatch from.

HarrietJones · 13/09/2011 12:30

I've just spent 3 hours St the hospital. Not very productive. X rays don't show anything. Hips possibly separate problem to SPD, offered an MRI to check for tears.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 13/09/2011 12:37

Thats annoying HJ. Definitely go for the MRI. They are really good at finding problems.
