I'm the queen of waffle and I have had adult conversation today (not much though!)

Yes, I have to say that the 'knocking them out' bit was what interested me

Now I really really should go to bed. Why do I feel so tired during the day but wide awake at bedtime?

Oh ladies I love the waffle. Seems like many of us are without DH/Ps and adult conversation tonight.

MRs Cd - Fooled You? Fantastic, if only for a bit. Can your Medised use count as a recommendation, I've seen it mentioned too and have been wondering about getting it in for when the snot really breaks loose, or not as it were. I'm listening to DS now, I think hyou're right we're having the same kind of evening. Noramlly we got to bed at ten when DS wakes up for feed, but I like staying up and awake when DH is out, it's almost the only me time I get, even though I'm shagged.

Racers - You didn't "go on" - is it ok if I use/borrow your inverted commas? - I find it so useful to hear what others are doing. Last night was so bad I did wonder about a dummy. Must admit to semi-irrational reluctance to use one, had a nephew who was addicted for yeaars and my god when he lost the favoured one... or dropped it in dog s**t in the park...I'd been hoping Ds would find his thumb. Like KVg we do use the little finger a fair bit during the daytime and I'm starting to try and use it at bedtime. I haven't got anywhere near formula yet am v impressed you've managed it at bed time.

KVG How reassuring that I'm not the only one! I'm still dmeand feeding really even though i've started weaning, all a bit laissez-whatsist at our house. I did a similar thing with your fingertip food, gave DS a lick of banana for a couple f weeks and then it was his first puree with tons of EBM. He was thrilled to finallky get it properly I think!

Beat that for waffling!

snowfallatxmasmum · 02/12/2005 22:51

mrsC and kvg- same here with wakefulness, i can be oh so tired and the minute i go to bed i am wide awake bugger!

one very good piece of advice i had was establish a bedtime routine after 8wks, of sequence of events not time orientated iyswim. and try to settle baby off boob as often as possible.

dd does settles herself easily at bedtime after feed. i have never done CC not my thing and i or dh go to her should she wake up or fuss, usually just hanld holding or soft lullaby will do.

we did co sleep for first 6wks and she had naps in her cot during day, but no more, naps are now on me or pram.
i do tend to go with the flow
should really go to bed but might wait up for dh while reading my book
night night

santasgiddyhelper · 02/12/2005 23:15

Hellooo all
Just flying on to say hello. I love reading these posts. It is like an on line baby/toddler group without having to worry about the lo's hitting each other lol.
Trib - Glad heating is sorted and good luck on Monday.
Racers - Remember you from that '20 week weaning' thread too. It struck me last night.
KVG - I have AK's Superfoods for Babies and Children book and I love it. It is bright and informative with great pictures and is nice to read and inspires me to want to get in the kitchen. I have been rereading it and I think that is why I am finally looking forward to weaning again rather than dreading the mess and extra washing up lol. (Can't wait to get my dishwasher back in Feb, I hope it hasn't gone moldy in storage .)
Mrs W/C - Lol I meant that to be for Wednesday/ChristmasDay but makes you seem like a toilet sorry! I am afraid I often find myself snapping at dd1 to hurry up etc if I can hear dd2 crying. It makes me all edgy when I can hear her crying and can't get to her .
I still b/f to sleep too......hence my numerous night wakenings so take comfort those who aren't feeding to sleep you could be in the mess I am if you were.....
Right have to dash as must get ready to take dd1 to Clarks this morning as she is still in open toe sandals and I ought to have some shoes for her for when the weather changes. She was under a duvet last night and was sweating when I went to bed . Toddlers get so hot when they are sleeping. So the duvet is off again for now.
Bye for now...........

MrsChristmasDay · 03/12/2005 07:23

Oh Skyler, that is so true (and funny) about the online baby/toddler group without the stress of fights You've put a smile on my face this morning, thank you.

Cratchit, that's exactly it, a bit of time alone is so precious these days, that's why I find it hard to drag myself off to bed.

Well the little spoon of Medised worked ok, only up once at 2am, quick feed then back to sleep until 6. How times have changed, pre-kids I would have described that as a terrible night's sleep not a good one!

Giddy, hope you get your computer problems resolved very soon, what a complete nightmare.

Katz, re thread titles - I am obviously a bit slow on the uptake these days

Off to eat breakfast, have foolishly agreed to go to step class at 9.30am so need to eat loads before I go. Hope I'm a bit more coordinated than last time....

deepandcrispandlummox · 03/12/2005 07:48

This is the only baby group I get to go to. Am concerned that ds is missing out. Maybe virtual fighting? Am sure ds would be happy to kick things off with a bit of warm-up hair grabbing. Then, who knows? Maybe a raspberry duel (could be messy that one).

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. We've got friends coming from the UK, but their two little children have conjunctivitis - didn't like to cancel, but a bit worried - any tips?

katzglitterytree · 03/12/2005 08:11

well so far so good with the new routine, she has had her breakfast and her breakfast boob feed, lets see who has the stronger resolve to make it to 10 before feeding her agian! it seems so strange to be putting her into as routine, with DD1 because i wasn't having to go to work (was writting up my PhD) i just went with the flow and by the time see need to go to nursery she'd developed her own.

MrsCD - At least you noticed theme to the thread titles! no on else has or hadn't commented on them.

DD2 slept better last night just wish i knew why and could do it again! she went down at 7.15ish and then woke at 2.30 for a feed then 4.30 then 6.30 for the day, which is an improvement.

WRT to bedtime routine because we already have one for DD1 DD2 has just had to slot into it, but again with DD1 we didn't have one until 18months. I can fill anyone in who's interested on our hyperactive child who was actually just over tired another time!!

Well DD2 is currently making her way round the living room, she can now move quite well with combination of rolling and wiggling, DH found her in the hall eating his shoelaces the other morning! time to reinstate the babygates i think!

Morning all. Welcome, racers, I only just joined too. Then immediately managed to crash Yahoo. Emailed them, they replied to say the photos had exceeded the allowed quota (I only posted one; knew he was big baby!) and they'd deleted some which should fix the problem, but just checked this am and still can't get on! Harrumph.

Thanks for advice re:duct, now all better. Live in middle of nowhere so ok to massage in house without neighbours getting shocked; sadly no central heating so a little chilly sitting topless...

Am finding weaning info v useful - due to start next weekend. Do you just keep on bf as normal or do you try substitutinf water for one? Am like Katz, bfing but returning to work. Worried about how it will go. Any advice v v welcome!

snowfallatxmasmum · 03/12/2005 09:52

morning ladies

with DD1 i did nothing! fed on demand, let her sleep on demand nothing! i would do it again this time if i had longer but i don't so will have to force DD2 into a routine, have only bent it a little today, i let her have breastmilk aftre her lunch and she had her afternoon feed at 1.30 but all in all in seems to be okay, i think she may have been in the routine without me realising!

well missing my baby girlbut dh said they on way home.

titles of threads yes i only commented on them to my sister a friends fan - i like them

lua- vegetatian baby well i was a vegetarian for years until pregnant then was steaks craving... i still dont drink cows milk and hardly any dairy apart from full fat organic yoghurt was thinking of avoiding cows milk for dd, any suggestions?
i still prefer a maily vegetarian diet anyway.

so troubles spit it out handcuffs? pink fluffy ones? some sort of lubricant?

katzglitterytree · 03/12/2005 16:39

KVG - you don't want to know! (just before her second birthday) we had planned to tackle it sooner but DH's mum was ill and we were bombing up and down the country and she was sleeping in all different places, but when we got back after the funeral, we used the no cry sleep solutions ideas and within 2 days she was going down awake and sleeping through.

As for No2 in some ways it is soooo much easier but in others int is much harder.

I'd noticed the friends theme - thought it was good and that the junies 05 are probably a fun lot
