Another quick post, my week hasn't calmed down yet! Now M has picked up a tummy bug and is struggling to keep much down. She's been sent home from nursery, so I'm on emergency leave from work looking after her.

She's just settled down for a nap and now I have a ton of sicked on laundry to do... Looovely! Thank god for the washer/drier, else we'd be running out of clothes/bedding for her.

I went to an indoor soft play this morning, D was unusually tired and we had a good night last night (10:30-5ish longest stretch). I went with a friend and her little boy who is a couple of weeks younger than D. This boy has a tendancy to be a bit rough with other babies, he goes up to them and 'pats' them although its more like whacking. D is not used to this at all being an only child at the mo so was scared stiff and really cried everytime he did it.
My friend said 'play nicely X' so I know she sees him and says something but it was horrible seeing D so upset when he should have been enjoying himself.

Real quick one in relation to bumps and bruises...rub butter in it as soon as it happens and it stops it coming up. Have done it in E a few times and its worked so far!

Chulita · 18/08/2011 16:04

stac I woke up from my nap thinking "I must ask stac how her J got on", he'll warm to it I'm sure. I use Pampers active fit with no worries, I think my babies must have 'generic bums' though cos all the nappies I've tried fit fine. I'm halfway through a bag of Tangfastics, don't know if that counts as eating? I've been retching all day, seriously, this is getting so so old.

tsc great news on Fong, is he overcompensating on the food front by gnawing on you? or has he just not been interested?

spirael bleugh, I agree with tsc, vom is the worst thing to deal with.

dh L hates noisy, even slightly aggressive children and will dissolve on contact. I find it really hard when we're somewhere with a child like that, I'm just waiting for her to start. Hopefully S gets bullied enough that he'll be a bit more resilient! Grin

MalibuStac · 18/08/2011 17:05

I have no clue what happened with the nappies Confused

spireal hope M's better soon. I hate sick too, really can't deal with it.

Regarding the friend I mentioned yesterday, she told me her dd was walking and posted a video on fb of her aking a few steps, we met up today and the wee souls not walking she has taken steps but not on her way yet iyswim. Made me think of yesterdays thread.

chulita he had a much better day today, he's tired Smile. Glad your kind of eating.

dh that's horrible, poor D at least the friend is seeing it.

How did the docs go this afternoon tsc?

memphis83 · 18/08/2011 17:27

hello will post later properly as im waiting for LL to turn up then out for tea
stac I think pampers are shitter than shit, they give L a rash that weeps everytime, and they leak with 2 wees, huggies arent tight enough on his legs so he may as well not wear nappies, my favourite are Asda, and tescos are good too, but pampers are benned in this house!

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/08/2011 17:32

Its hard because I can see him coming towards D knowing what hes going to do before his mum does but i feel I cant really do/say anything.

Im at my mums for dinner tonight, D is moaning hes tired/hungry and its just generall that time of the day. My mums taken him into the garden to water the plants, dont you just love Grandmas!

mlic well done on the 2 hour walk, you must be knackered let alone the DCs!

totally agree with mlic on that dh, i would totally say something.

How's fong now tsc?

Hope M's better soon spirael

dh and i have been a bit like that re no of children chul. just shows how you can change your mind when you're dealing with real life

vik i agree with chul re choosing a side by side. F still goes in it even now, mainly just to make my life easier or as a punishment if he's not listened to me in a shop and has walked too far away

Had madder than mad day at work but don't feel half as brain-dead as i do with an average day with F & A at home

CakeandRoses · 18/08/2011 19:35

oh and you prob will just want to use a stroller for Jnr when they've outgrown the side by side anyway

OP posts:
memphis83 · 18/08/2011 19:40

dh I agree with mlic you can tell other children no, at baby group I often take L from a horrid selfish child and say in the patronising voice so her mum hears 'come on L we dont want to play with children that dont share anyway' then do the glare at said mother! L went through a phasw of being rough but its because he doesnt know his strength, he is there patting smacking hell out of child saying aaaahhhhh thinking he is being nice, but I stop him straight away as I know it hurts!
chulita dh always jokes to people that he wants 6! he has a friend who has 4 within 3 year age gap (one set of twins) dont know how they do it! they were in the local paper, their twins are one white one black.
bloody crap day at work today it rained all day non stop, i was so cold, then the minute you start to pack up they come out in droves! dh away tonight ive just had a massive steak followed by bread and butter pudding, my mum put on half a stone over 4 days at centerparcs, i didnt, it shows how much I pig out on a normal day!

I'm round at a friend's house, we've swapped nights of babysitting - she came and babysat for us a couple of weeks ago, so now it's my turn to babysit for her. Fingers crossed the baby won't wake up!

I like Pampers myself. I'm using Huggies at the mo as they were on special offer but I hate them - I hate the way the cotton wool stuff inside goes all bunched up. They also seem to give J a bit of a rash. I don't really like Sainsbury's or Lidl own brand - must try Boots or Asda. Anyone tried Wilkinson's own brand?

mlic it must be nice to do a walk like that again. Hope E sleeps well after all that!

viksam · 18/08/2011 20:59

Thanks guys for your response re the double buggies. mylife yeah i think i will ebay mine, your thinking you might get quite a lot for urs, maybe i should put it up for more, gota clean it up first though! I also have the foot muff so that might get us a bit more. I sooooo know what you mean about a flimsy cheap ass buggy in comparison to the icandy, i hate using my Obaby but it is lighter.
cake dont say stuff like that about work being easier that a day with the childeren, scares the crap out of me!!
tsc hope ur feeling a little better after ur rest today, me thinks you could do with a weeks worth of that though, hows F this evening.
memphis tea sounds nice, did u see the footage on crimewatch of the looting in brum, absolutly unbelievable really.
chu does ur tiredness improve as ur pregnancy progresses? You mentioned u had hyperemesis with L, are u actually being sick this time?
Had MW this afternoon, talked to her about some dizzyness and some tummy ache, she thinks im not eating or drinking enough or resting enough, shes probably right, she told me off a bit! I am going to have an early night tonight, D was up last night for a while for no aparent reason so after a full days work im shattered and fancy a nice long read and a good sleep(please D!!)
Re nappies, D's had leaked this morning good and propper, only a weewee(!) one thank god but he and his sleeping bag was wet, that was huggies, but he has leaked in pampers too. I have tried the eco boots ones and they were quite good, i only brought the huggies as they were going cheap!

CakeandRoses · 18/08/2011 22:05

i know not everyone is a fan but we've always used the naturecare biodegradable ones and think they were super. A hasn't leaked for about 8 months i reckon.

i just checked with dh (he was so pleased to be interrupted to be asked about leaking nappies) and he said a) she doesn't do 1 big poopernovas, she usually does 2 a day and b) i change her 'too often' Hmm so that's why.

and sorry to scare you vik, it's probably partly my personality that makes me find it tougher at home - i like having everything under control and it's hard to be with young children messing it all up.

also i could probably make my life easier if i let them watch a bit more TV rather than sticking religiously to 15 mins.

lastly we have so many stairs and live up a hill plus i tidy up all day like a maniac - so its physically quite knackering!

i reckon it could all be easier than i make it, tbh!

OP posts:
memphis83 · 18/08/2011 22:17

cakes I liked them when he was in size 4 now they leak, but he wees like a camel and he poos around 4-6 times a day and they are maffis, when we drove back from cp we had been in car 2 hours, when we got back his actual shorts and vest were FULL of poo, down to his socks and when mum cleaned him off she sat him up to take vest over his head he started to wee, it was all over sofa, throw, mums jeans down to her shoes and her shoes actually had puddles in, it also took half a kitchen roll so soak up puddle on the floor before I could mop, I think this is why he leaks, but pampers leave open sores on his bum, I cant believe he wees so much when he hardly drinks anything

CakeandRoses · 18/08/2011 22:20

yy, i think they do it too often at nursery too but better than the other option i guess

usually we change 7.30am, 11am (morning poo time), about 2.30-3, often around 5pm too (afternoon poo) and then 7 for bed so 4 - 5 changes.

OP posts:
memphis83 · 18/08/2011 22:20

tsc i probably change 4 nappies before lunch full of shit, then it slows down to 2 or 3 for rest of the day, I wouldnt change him unless he is dirty or really wet, every 2 hours is shocking!
