Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

F has just drawn blood biting my nipple. o Biscuit

and he's even more pukey today

and he's not going to sleep (well, puking up your last feed, having pj's & sheets changed and being shouted at* for biting the boob that's reofferred isn't the greatest sleep routine)

(*he looked at me and laughed. I fear for his teens)

daisylulu · 02/08/2011 20:24

J not settling at all tonight which is most unlike her at this time. Am wondering if it's the heat.....

Starshaped · 02/08/2011 20:43

Sorry Buck, I know I shouldn't but I just laughed out loud at that last sentence!

BuckminsterFullerene · 02/08/2011 21:03

Thanks Starshaped! I'll send him to you when he gets kicked out of school!

He had another feed (no biting or puking) and is asleep.

We had a lovely day today, too. He had some great naps, and was smiley and chatty and playful. But the sick caught up in the evening an it all went downhill.

He's always been sicky, but it's getting much worse. I'm going to have him weighed on Thursday, but even if it's not great, what can I do?! He's 18 weeks.

Liv77 · 02/08/2011 21:47

Arch well done for keeping your cool about the pink tracksuit you're a better woman than me. Both my DC kept their gowns on for the after party but I had a cute outfit available if needed.

Yes. Archers was the peach one, the park drink would have been Diamond White, vile stuff.
jen what does Pernod taste like? i've never had it.

ecuse picnic sounds like a lovley idea, friends did something similar for their DS 1st Birthday.
I Grin Grin Grin at the sophiscated S.bow in NY.

P is now 16weeks and 2 days old, last night she didn't settle to sleep until 1.30am, hoping tonight is better but it may be the dreaded 16week regression Sad
Word recognition, well she always seems to smile when I say "booby"

kittycatcat · 02/08/2011 22:27

Pernod tastes like aniseed if my memory serves me well?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 03/08/2011 00:07

Gah insomnia. Bollocks.

Cyclebump · 03/08/2011 07:28

Oh no Ali, hope you got to sleep.

Does anyone else have trouble sleeping after the night feed and change? It takes me up to an hour to get back to sleep after H is peacefully snoozing in his cot and it's driving me mad. It's so frustrating that even after I get back into my own bed (still fairly rare) I can't even take advantage and go to sleep!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 03/08/2011 07:49

I did, but I had to use a hypnosis CD! And then 40 minutes later DS1 appeared next to the bed and slept cuddled up to me all night. Lovely and tiring in equal proportion! T slept until 7am after his midnight feed though so that's one thing!!

Cycle I do find it hard to drop off, unless I feed T lying down which I find helps me stay sleepy. I don't change him during the night unless he is really soaking.

Sassy20 · 03/08/2011 08:23

L went from 9.30pm to 7am!!! This is the longest sleep so far. Grin

Starshaped · 03/08/2011 08:33

No chance of insomnia here. P was up 4 times last night, including an epic wake up around 4ish when she refused to go back to bed. With the weather being so hot, I fed her every time in case she was thirsty but even milk would settle her back down.

She's now snoozing quite happily in her cot but DH and I have overslept. He's just gone legging it into work in a desperate attempt to make it for a 9am meeting. Ooops...

Starshaped · 03/08/2011 08:34

That should say even milk wouldn't settle her back down

caramellokoalalover · 03/08/2011 10:39

Pernod...nup. I am a very soft drinker so Midori and lemonade was my drink of choice as a teen Blush. Had a very bad 18th birthday with tequila and have never been able to even sniff it since.

Buck S has been increasingly spewy the past few weeks and whilst I now think it's reflux a few of the things I thought it could have been were teething as apparently all that extra saliva can make them sicky, the heat, thrush as that can make them sicky too. Hope the weigh in goes ok, so stressful if they've not gained or lost weight.

S has dropped a band now to the 9% line and I'm hoping with the gaviscon she'll be less vomitous and start to gain a little or at least not drop further. Those experienced April refluxers - how long should it take to see an improvement from the medication? S seems less angry at the boob but still being sick quite a bit Confused

Sassy Envy at your sleepy baby!

Cycle I'm another neglectful mother who lets S stay in the same nappy all night unless she's particularly unsettled or leaking. Changing her in the night was just making it too difficult to resettle her and she didn't seem to mind when I stopped doing it.

Sweltering here today...wish I had a pool!

LisMcA · 03/08/2011 10:52

Ok, help me out here. I know I should never wake a sleeping baby, but how long do you let them sleep? B went down at 8 last night as normal and he's still sleeping! He didn;t wake through the night or anything! He hasn't had a feed since 7.30. Am I a bad mother letting him starve?

Sassy20 · 03/08/2011 11:10

Lis I'm not usually one for waking sleeping babies but that is a long sleep! Did you do any swimming or anything yesterday as that makes L sleep well? I'd maybe make a slight noise near B and see if he stirs.

LisMcA · 03/08/2011 12:43

No sooner had I posted, he woke up. Screaming!! No wonder he must have been starving! He didn't have a proper nap yesterday as we were out an about until nearly tea time. I'll put mammoth sleep down to that. i gave him a bigger feed too. Can I just say though, I was going in to check he was ok, touch his hand he would stir but go right back to sleep again.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/08/2011 12:59

I was awake for an hour after the night feed as well. It seems to happen a couple of times a week and it drives me insane.

Caramel - I bought a bottle of Midori the Xmas before last. I remembered it fondly, but forgot how sweet it was. That was the year i also bought some advocat. I think I must have been feeling quite retro that year!

It's 28 degrees here today and there is no breeze. We were out this morning, so when ds2 goes for a nap I'll blow the pool up and we can all decamp into this arvo.

I can't believe these babies sleeping for such long stretches

Sassy20 · 03/08/2011 13:08

Lis you're lucky, if L misses naps through the day she won't sleep at night! I hope you didn't think I was suggesting you hadn't checked on B, I just meant if I think L has slept enough I'll occasionally make a slight sound near her to see if she stirs and then wakes up, that way I don't feel like I'm waking her up!!!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 03/08/2011 13:46

Blimey Lis that is a mammoth sleep! I could sleep for 15 hours straight no problem the way I feel right now Grin

Accidents all over the place with potty training, and T is pooing for Britain. I have spent almost my whole day dealing with bodily fluids. Lovely.

LisMcA · 03/08/2011 14:00

Oh no Sassy, I didn't think that, usually me going about my usual things will stir him and he'll stay awake! But not today. Believe it or not he's having a nap again on his play mat. My mum already thinks I drug him :o! Can a baby sleep too much! My God, they don't sleep you worry, they sleep you worry! Whats that all about! I used to be quite level headed!!

chillikat · 03/08/2011 14:40

Lis I'm the same worrying about sleep. I worry when she hasn't had a nap, then when she does I often worry she's napped too long! I'm afraid I've got a great night sleeper too - we had 8 hours from 9pm, then feed, change (we do the change to wake her enough for the other boob) and back to sleep til 8am :) I rarely have trouble getting back to sleep after a feed.

Mmm, pernod and black(currant). Didn't drink it often though I was more of a strongbow girl then. I've now moved onto real cider and perry, though in halves as it tend to be 6% + :) I quite fancied a retro martini and lemonade the other week. I'm yet to indulge though.

Sassy20 · 03/08/2011 15:20

Lis make the most of it. If B is anything like L he'll change his sleeping routine every other day! Smile

Starshaped · 03/08/2011 16:28

I am melting...it's so muggy here.

I'm dreading tonight. P's barely slept all day and I can already tell it's going to be a mammoth struggle to get her down later. Argh!

What are your LOs sleeping in during the hot weather? We had P in a short sleeved vest and light grobag last night. I'm wondering if I should leave her out the grobag tonight.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 03/08/2011 16:33

I had T in a nappy and covered with a muslin last night, that's all.

He's been awake since 11am, just trying to feed to sleep on my bed now!

There is a bit of breeze picking up here now, thank goodness.

MrsWajs · 03/08/2011 18:32

I'm oddly jealous of those of you with warm weather, we had to turn heating back on yesterday as it was freezing and now today it's warmer again!! Although it is getting to be a bit muggy which isn't all that nice!

Just to put in my tuppence worth, I was also a fan of the MD 20/20 in my younger years, also the cheap cider from the spar and hooch!! Although I overdid it one night whilst babysitting for my mums friend and came home and vomitted in my bed! Never touched hooch again after that! Also not sure why the woman in question was supplying me with alcohol a) because I was in charge of her children and b) because I was only 13!! Hmm, set the scene for all of my teenage years and I was well known for my partying....oh how times have changed!

Lis R is also a gurner!! I love how you just throw in a bit of scottish dialect now and then, makes me :)

Arch I think I might have been less reserved with your MIL, especially regarding the baptism gown!! Aaarrgghh!!

And on the topic of baptism/christening, we have decided not to go down the route of a baptism (Arch you might want to cover your ears) as I would have to go to confession and basically apologise for the last 3 years of my life and ask to be forgiven, which I'm not prepared to do! So think R will just be having a straight forward christening in the church of scotland.

I also don't change R during the night (wakes her up too much) so I use the 12 hour dry disposables and they seem to contain everything til morning.
