I jsut typed a huge post and then MN wouldn't load. Anyone else having probs?

Tsc the boxes for kids things is a great idea, parents can just grab a box and away this go, none of the "Do you want some pasta? Sure? Try some ham? Oh, you've dropped your plate, lets's start again" etc etc etc.

We did food for A's christening, 40 not 100 though and at our house, it's quite informal here so I think we chucked some sausages on the barbie and had a giant ham and salads and nice bread rolls. We must have had some dessert-y stuff but I can't remember what.

Hello Albrecht, I'm in NZ, so post at funny times of the night then disappear all day. I have Amelia who is 3 and Georgie (Georgina) who is 11 months tomorrow. Your "treat" list reminded me that Radio 4 podcasts are one of my treats too, I am an Archers geek fan and love all the discussion-type progs too. Hello too to violetbubbles Smile.

Both kids have colds here, G really bad, couldn't open her eyes this am as they were all sealed up with snot Sad, she is only waking once about 4 tho and going back to sleep pretty quickly so we're getting there with that.

Needle · 07/06/2011 21:42

Thanks Chulita!

Just did Shred level 2. Urgh. Uuuurhghghg. Seriously though, to those of you've who've done it, did the amount of upper body stuff worry you? I've switched loads of the press ups for crunches and stuff, but in level 2 nearly everything is in "Plank" position, and I'm having nightmares about ending up with Madonna arms.

I desperately want to get Gwen Christened but until the Tea house is finished, we've got nowhere to receive people. I really wanted to do it before she turns one though, as a lot of church schools give children who were baptised before their first birthday preference over those baptised after.

Memphis, how are the preparations going? Did you fix your cupcakes?

What has caused the debate, the kids' food boxes? Or just the whole christening "shizzle"?

malibustac · 07/06/2011 21:49

She's sleeping!! Hasn't took her full bottle should I try to keep feeding?

Dh so close to the big day. Who else have you to buy gifts for?

Chul S will be fine hope you and dh have a fab night.

Memphis I think we have night owls, bUt at least their both down now.

Hey violet, how's things? Well done to you and iris on the race for life. Have you saw becky?

Tsc bet you could feed the 5000 on all these suggestions. Iceland is good for party snacks and bbq stuff.

Wss hope the lo's are ok.

Needle · 07/06/2011 22:00

mlic I asked dh, he wouldn't agree to it because he says he can't justify the expense atm.

I agree with Mlic that the christening/baptism is the important bit. could the grandparents help out with the cost? guests are usually more than happy to bring some food to share too.

Stac, yes L rubs his when they're sore. The sore one usually for a very red too (but not always)

MelissaM · 08/06/2011 01:22

[Hmm] goes very red

WhatSheSaid · 08/06/2011 06:25

Meant to ask cake earlier when she was talking about lasering...

Does it hurt lots then? Was it v expensive? Do the results last forever or does it kind of grow back after a while anyway? I have never had it done and I'm curious.

viksam · 08/06/2011 06:39

I cant do there stupid early wake ups man. My theory was to keep him in his room and try and get him back off using any means possible hence the resurection of the dummy. Two mornings ago that worked like a dream but yesterdayand today no luck, the annoying thing is he falls asleep in my arms, so i know he wants to go back to sleep but he just cant seem to get there or stay there. Two mornings ago i curled up on the floor with him for 20 mins then he fell so asleep he went back in his cot for over an hour, and i can tell hes tired this morning but theres nothing i can do about it now as its a work day. The CM is still having problems getting him to sleep, yesterday he had half hour in the morning and 20 mins in the afternoon, thats just not enough. He will have at least an hour and a half when we are home but that just doesnt seem to make a differance to the early waking!
wss and chuhow are u getting on with it?
stac hows things with u? Did u enjoy the night off? Was R ok?
mylife and cake what culinary delights are u cooking today?
needles sorry i missed out on 'the debate' i found everyones views interesting, i am back at work 3 days a week for financial and personal reasons, as cake said i dont want to be unemployable in a few years because i've been out of the picture for so long, that may have to change when no 2 comes along though!!
Im gona try and catch up properly whilst D is playing, maybe i can comment appropriately then!

vik the early wakings have got a bit better. She usually wakes once a night at about 4am and goes back to sleep, usually by me doing ssh pat for 10 or 15 mins. She then wakes again at 6 (which seems like a very reasonable hour after the hell that was getting up at 4.45am etc).

I have abandoned the one sleep a day thing for the moment as she is too sick, she has a really heavy cold and is a bit of a mess, quite frankly. She is too snotty and knackered to manage on one sleep at the mo.

violetbubbles · 08/06/2011 07:31

Thanks for all the welcomes!!! It's great to be back :)

Stac The Race for Life was ace. Iris loved it. Great atmosphere. You around on Thursday for a catch up before I go back to work? I saw Beckyg123 on Sunday after the race. Sam is still as laid back as ever!

mlic Grin

DH I can't believe your wedding is so soon. Exciting!

viksam I've just survived another 7 week sleep regression with Iris waking up for the day between 4-5am every day. BUT for the past 3 days she has slept until 7ish. She's still asleep just now. :) I think adding another nap at 5pm has helped a bit. Just a 20 min one, combined with a bit of controlled crying for 1.5 hours one morning seem to have done the trick. She doesn't nap very long at all during the day and I think over tiredness can lead to EMW. I hope your sleep regression is over soon!

tsc you're very brave to cater an entire baptism but sounds like you're on top of it! We're still undecided about a baptism for I. Families would love it but I'm not on speaking terms with the Pope at the moment!

That's Iris up...gotta go! :)

Needle · 08/06/2011 08:14

I am so stupid. G woke at 3.30, so I got up, half asleep and gave her a bottle and put her back down. I forgot about the half empty bottle which was still on the bed and woke up this morning to a wet patch the size of a dinner plate where the milk had soaked right through. I think our expensive feather duvet may be ruined.

Dh and I had a row last night and he's still not talking to me. Feel utterly rubbish and need a hug.

Needle · 08/06/2011 08:19

Oh, and the dog crapped in the house, so now the whole house stinks of s**t.

memphis83 · 08/06/2011 08:25

needle what was the row about? hpe it sorts itself out, one thing I hate is being ignored, the cupcakes were awful, im going to leave it and try afain next week or over the weekend to try a different recipe.
L woke at 5.30 (when dh woke him with his elephant steps) then slept again til 8, I could get used to this.
Ive got my support worker coming with the volunteer this afternoon, Ive beein worrying myself sick about it and had a panic attack last night! dh said if im thinking against having a volunteer I can alwways back out.

CakeandRoses · 08/06/2011 08:28

Yeuch! Both bobbing up and down tag team stylee then dh had an early start so I had to get up to deal with F's morning poo schedule.

A now won't have her morning bf if F's in eye or earshot and I feel terrible banishing him. Driving me nuts.

Yuk vik, does sound like D's got out of his napping routine. How/where/what time does the cm put him down? Not sure what I'll be cooking today. I won't bake as still have a couple of brownies left which we've been scoffing for pud with hot choc sauce and ice cream. Damn you, you've made me fancy a fruit cake now!

*wss1 it doesn't last 100pc but what grows back is much less 'vigorous' and doesn't happen for a few years. I can just pluck a few hairs from my bikini line for it to look perfect now, I just shave my underarms every couple of weeks now compared to every day before. It is ver' ver' painful in 'places' tho when they're doing it.

chul F was so motivated by double bubble on his sticker chart that he didn't have a problem with poo so not much advice I can give you. I think mlic and wss might have some tips tho.

tsc what is the debate on the food? I know how it feels as mil family also get all worked up about food for our parties too as they she can't imagine missing out on stuffing her face with processed meat having every bloody possible variant catered for as if this is the last meal she'll-- they'll ever eat.

Personally, I prefer to go for keep the number of dishes down but make sure it's good food and there's enough of it. I also like a theme like indian, mezze, as it helps to limit the amount of random stuff added but like you mum, MIL can't understand why I don't want sausage rolls on every buffet...

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/06/2011 08:44

tsc my bridemaids are my best friend who is my age and my niece who is 10. Ive bought them both gifts of jewellery which I really hope they like otherwise Ill have them!

stac Ive got to get a present for DP! Cheeky as hes getting the best present of all, me! I bought his a zippo lighter on our first xmas so ill get that engraved.

chulita its never too late! I bet he'd think it was funny.

Ive just been reading the airlines restrictions etc on liquids, its so confusing! Those of you have have flown recently, what have you done re water in a beaker and snacks for your LO?

CakeandRoses · 08/06/2011 08:51

Snacks should be fine and last time we flew they just asked me to taste F's drink

What's the row about needle. Hope G gives you a big cuddle to cheer you up.

memph you felt that way about the support group too initially, perfectly understandable but look how useful that turned out to be. There's nothing for you to stress about, just see how this first visit goes and take it from there. She might be lovely :)

Albrecht · 08/06/2011 08:54

Morning all, ds tried to get up at 3am but I managed to pin him down fo a couple more hours. Where is this blinking tooth!

Does anyone have any clever ideas to stop him getting in our fridge? We can't keep him out of the kitchen due to layout and its too akward to put any kind of ordinary childlock on. He pushes a chair out of the way like a walker. We currently have a sledgehammer and 2 5L paint tins in front but he just determindly drags them out of the way.

MelissaM Sorry to hear you are suffering too.

WSS Still can't believe it about Kenton and Cary, the most unlikely couple IMO.

Oh Needle bless you, we are wondering about having a birthday party / housewarming but I've been really worrying about food. Think even I could manage those. Just need something fat and carb free for my mother now.

dh I love hearing about wedding planning - we eloped to New York which was brill but I do feel like I missed out on all the obsessing over details.

Needle · 08/06/2011 08:59

The row was so stupid. Basically I want to go back to my home town for the flower festival the last weekend in June. Because its the last weekend before the tea house opens I just assumed dh wouldn't be able to come and besides, he hates socialising with my family and i'm staying with my mum. Anyway, he's being really weird about it, demanding to know what my real reason for not asking him is, what am I trying to hide, who am I going to see and why don't I want him to meet them etc. I said to him that I don't understand why he doesn't trust me as i've never given him any reason not to, do why is he treating me like a traitor and he said "because you're acting like one" that was 10 last night and he's not asked me since.
