Silv, Clint sometimes fine tunes radio too - have no help, is not comfortable!

Lighttaperstandback · 14/06/2011 10:27

VAG I was adamant about not giving him a bottle, so was with him as soon as he stopped being nil by mouth in order to be there for feeds, so about half of the time I was with him - they set me up a camp bed on the ward.

Silver Squib does that too...pulls off, has a look at this thing pointing at him, and then reaches out to grab a hold and turn it like a doornob. Maybe that's why they're called knockers? (snigger)

AlpinePony · 14/06/2011 11:04

VAG I do worry about the second being demonic having been so lucky with my easy-going chap this time. Confused But what can you do?

We've had the horrors this end. We've both had food poisoning - looks like it took 48 hours to reach what made Bear sick sat night. So we spent a horrible night shitting & puking & sleeping literally wherever we could. :( That's the sign of a strong relationship isn't it? When you say "JBEeeeeee - come and prop me up I think I'm going to faint" whilst your back end is squirting out napalm. :( Dropped happy & healthy (apart from the egg on his forehead which I laughed at when he got stuck betwee radiator and wall) Bear off at creche and went back to bed. Am trying not to drive myself menkul thinking this will harm baby as we all know, no fucking chance in hell! Hmm

I was really hoping I had another couple of weeks without this debilitating nausea. JB was moaning so I said "yep, this is how I felt weeks 6-16, get over it girlfrien' ! Wink

honey Yep, why is there so much need for sleep involved? Why can't it just fit easily in to other areas of our life? The Daily Mail will hate us for it. Wink

CurlyCasper · 14/06/2011 11:08

ski do not fret - remember I had norovirus in very early pregnancy. Julian2 will be just fine Grin

Backinthebox · 14/06/2011 11:39

Yuk, Alps hope it is easier for you this time round.

We had the child first that people say 'if first one had been like this we would never have had another.' LG is a piece of piss after TT! Although TT is now a (mostly) lovely little girl who no longer wakes us up all night, screaming constantly.

Fanny I have just invested in blackout blinds. They are on special offer in Dunelm, so I bought lots. Just off over to the Tack Room to investigate your enlightened riding thread. Sounds a load of bollocks to me - I have had it drilled into me for years that digging your knees in restricts the horse's shoulder. Obviously you shouldn't nag or swing your legs, but digging in with your knees is just replacing one evil with another. They should be more interested in strengthening your independent seat so you don't need to either swing your lower leg or dig in with your knees. Just my thoughts.

I have also been buying bits and pieces for the extension. They are nearly up to roof height with it - it's very exciting. LG will have his room decorated first - as soon as it is habitable he will be out of our bedroom so fast his cot will set a land speed record Grin.

After I've checked out Fanny's knee digging thread (will it cause as much upset as the grape thread, though?) I'm off to primary education to pose a query about the overbearing, bullying nature of TT's school - and she hasn't even started there yet!

Cosmosis · 14/06/2011 11:40

Ah ski that explains why you are ignoring met at least. Do you want me to hold your hair back?

silv unfortunately that is just one of the things they do. You are doing the right thing, and hopefully this phase will pass.

FannyPriceless · 14/06/2011 12:46

box I have failed to actually start said thread. Will go do it now. If Bonnie allows me to ignore her requests to 'come and rub Owl and Daisy as they need to go to sleep now'.Hmm

OK, up now in the tack room.

Backinthebox · 14/06/2011 15:16

I'll let you off Fanny - I have failed to actually get across there yet, too.

rollerbaby · 14/06/2011 16:20

Lightyears that sounds pretty horrendous. I'm glad all is ok now and life has returned to normal - whatever that is. We were in neonatal for a few nights - nothing like your experience - and whilst that turned out to be for no reason, it was terrifying beyond belief at the time. We were sitting there with a ten pounder surrounded by all these other fragile soles who shouldn't have been born yet. It made you feel lucky in the end.

Alps hope you are feeling much better now. Dioraltye is your friend. And so is flat lemonade. And jacobs crackers with butter.

We are having first ever cauliflower cheese tonight, he'd better like it as it is my fave. Of course organically shop bought Grin. I'm getting used to hoovering up the leftovers... even the purees are quite nice you know.

Swimming today first time in 6 weeks. Unfortunately it seems to have made quite an impact and he was quite clingy and nervous which I had never ever seen before. Going to start going twice a week now to get back into the swing of it. Could kick myself for missing classes now. Also all the mums know each other and I realise in some ways the price I am paying for doing my work thing. Really need to sort that out.

Also powerwalked everywhere and my fooking pelvis is groaning.

rollerbaby · 14/06/2011 16:21

Soles? Souls.

Backinthebox · 14/06/2011 17:08

Moo your child is not going to look back and say 'when I was a few months old my mother didn't take me swimming for 6 whole weeks. Biatch!'

SilverSky · 14/06/2011 18:13

Mine will say "I've not even been ONCE! Call child protection" Smile

AlpinePony · 14/06/2011 20:12

I beg to differ box, deprived of his swimming lessons and no doubt baybee-mandarin and cup cake club too? ;) the poor mite.

curly you're right of course, t'was a silly worry. (Blush)

moo bear was very cling and crying the last time I took him swimming, just think he was mega-tired. Will get back in to it with pregnancy.

Managed to get some sleep today despite having to 'work'. Blessed!

AlpinePony · 14/06/2011 20:16

PS original BESH, there is a very interesting revelation on the ESH meet page! :)

rollerbaby · 14/06/2011 20:30

Wot iz revelation? Tell all now pleeze.
Box moi sense of perspective???? This could seriously hinder his chances at the 2020 olympics.

SilverSky · 14/06/2011 20:36

I sees it but not knows who it is...Confused

FannyPriceless · 14/06/2011 20:45

box Have not got black out blinds as not needed upstairs - curtains are pretty good. My mistake was bringing him downstairs to give him a bottle in the living room at 4am, and we had left all the downstairs curtains open when we went to bed. Doh!

alps Could you maybe PM me this revelatory news? Since I am going to be at the next ESH meet so clearly need to know everything that's going on!Wink

light thanks for sharing what happened with LittleLight. That sounds really scary, especially the not knowing why part. I second though the feeling that you do count your blessings when you see the tiny babies in there.

Medee · 14/06/2011 20:53

Just seen it, fab news!

CurlyCasper · 14/06/2011 21:09

Just a quickie to say wooweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! at the fabby news. My broadband has been down I have been very busy doing proper RL things like ironing and more holiday packing. Just five days more at work!

CurlyCasper · 14/06/2011 21:16

Actually not just a quickie because I have a question I wanted to ask hours ago. Squeaks has several rough, red patches on her legs and arms. I thought it was just from crawling etc. But they are gettign worse and now behind her knees is getting very red, and one looked quite raw today. Is this likely to be eczema? I have no experience of it, so not sure whether to just try to treat or take her to doctor. But we've been at the docs so much lately Blush Any ideas? I have tried googling images but that hasn't helped (as it didn't with the maybe/maybe not chicken pox)

rocketleaf · 14/06/2011 21:26

sparkie yep, I'll third that. We only had to visit the NU to get her scans done and had a nasty few moments before they said she didn't need to stay in. So despite the problems of the last few weeks I am grateful we are at home and I think its partly responsible for making me so determined she didn't end up back there with feeding ishoos. It must havd been so scary and it's such a shame that you missed out on those early weeks but fabulous that everything is ok now. Sounds like you did an amazing job being there for your boy.

To change the subject, do or have any of you co slept? I am a bit Hmm as to why the HV is so anti yet others (NCT, BFing peeps etc) so pro. I have ended up with sprout in with me a few time in the middle of the night and have made sure she can't fall out the bed or get covered with the duvet etc But last night she wouldn't settle at all unless she was lying on my chest and I think I must have fallen asleep for a while lying on my back. No doubt this is probably breaking some golden parenting rule, pls dont call social services! I am a light sleeper but don't move about a lot so can't imagine I would ever roll over onto her as the HV seems to think.

okiecokie · 14/06/2011 21:26

Light that sounds horrific, your poor thing. kids huh? They are a constant worry.. bless you. i sm pleased that business has resumed though.

I have had shite day. and no, I don't want to talk about it

Lighttaperstandback · 14/06/2011 21:30

Hey Curly. Sounds like eczema to me. It's incredibly common I believe in wee ones. We had a little bit a few weeks back...we basically slathered Squib in moisturiser morning, noon and night and it seems to have cleared up, bar a few small flare-ups. We used Oilatum, but I should think just liberal application of moisturiser should help. It's at least worth a try for a week or so before the medical profession starts hurling drugs at it, imho. I've also heard that some oats in a sock chucked in the bath can help hold in the moisture, though haven't tried it meself.

We are on day two of Operation Be Less Lardy. For my dinner I had some slices of tomato and some asparagus and Shock no wine! Bleedin hank marvin I am...
