Eek it's going so fast!

Well my night out has been cancelled so it's not an urgent rush round the shops but we are going to have z look for some summery clothes anyway.

Congratulations on becoming mamma seashells Grin. I am mumum, which I love. And well done your ds on forward rolls, I've never really mastered them!

I hadn't thought of trying corn on the cob, I love it so will definitely try it soon!

I really found it hard to get back into lawyer mode the first week or two at work, but its all coming back to me now, so don't panic you'll get there!

bestfootforwards · 26/07/2011 19:37

I'm unsearchable on FB but if I get one of you I could get the rest through friends of friends IYSWIM?

Left dd3 for an hour tonight to go to a residents meeting & got my old gobbiness back Blush I'm don't even caremuch about parking! Dd3 v clingy when I came back. She's doing it with dh & dds too. Have to wave goodbye then 10 mins later she will be asking for them. It's a long time til they learn time!

I'm Mamma and dh is daddy. We've been mastering clapping this week. I'm impressed that she understands the words and can both clap and wave on demand. I'm happy to be fb friends too - how are we sharing names?

Seashells - I can't remember your work situation. What do you do & how many hours do you work?

Spent half the day at Bluewater today. With three children. Both expensive and exhausting. Just getting into bed now!

SpringFlowers · 26/07/2011 19:58

Has anyone read anything good lately, I'm lost for a book. War and Peace is waiting for me but I fancy something a bit easier to pick up and put down!

HarrietJones · 26/07/2011 21:05

I'm reading murder mysteries at the moment as they don't require any thought.
Dd doesn't have any words other than the occasional Ma but signing is coming on. Dd2 had speech & hearing probs but dd3 seems to have ok hearing though they will check again whenever I want.

nohun yeah you are right, I think I was coming from the point of view that well........actually........its gone, ignore me.

I'm doing full time for the next two weeks, ds tonight wouldn't go to sleep unless I was sat right next to him. Normally he goes off on his own, I hope this isnt the start of something new.

I'm tired, how do people do this all the time??

TribbleWithoutACause · 26/07/2011 21:07

spring does MN count as a book?

SeaShellsMyDogSmells · 26/07/2011 21:25

Hi spring! Try One Day - bookclub loved it as they were all a similar age to the protagonists. I go back to 18hrs over 4 days, so not bad. Childcare for two children means I break even, sonthere was no point going back full time! I start in 2.5 weeks and counting :(

bestfootforwards · 26/07/2011 22:22

I'm slowly working my way through 'flat earth news' on my train journeys, its about the media and why the truth ends up so 'distorted' by the press, its fascinating. Would definitely recommend it.

tribble the tiredness will get better, lots of early nights and lower your standards when it comes to housework (and mine were pretty low already Blush )

We're having a cleaner for the first time tomorrow, to see if that makes life easier, but having spent the evening tidying ready for her I'm not sure if it will!

:) @ Tribble! :) You nutter!

SeaShellsMyDogSmells · 26/07/2011 22:45

Tribble-they work ft around here and survive because they have staff!! Nanny gardener cleaner and regular spa days. Different world to us! I hope you get through it, it must be seriously hard work-as bestfootforward says, lower uour standards and get to bed early :)

HarrietJones · 27/07/2011 07:33

9-10 months is the clingy bit tribble.repeat after me 'this too will pass' :)

Nohun I've added you but i think you'll be disappointed as I don't put pics on!
I don't mention MN in RL either (except dh) so no one mention it on FB

Perhaps I should add to the 4 friends I have on FB Smile, 2 of which are my sister and husband!! To be fair, my closest friends don't do FB.

DD is very very chatty but does not say any sounds even close to Mama even though I say it to her all the time. When I say Mama, she says Dada back. We have another ENT appointment tomorrow and I am really hoping that the drops have cleared out the earwax although I have not seen much come out. After that, we're off to a birthday party for a 12month old then I've booked DD into Cranial Osteopathy to see if that can help with the ear thing.

I read about 9 month old sleep regression last night and it makes perfect sense. Basically they're doing so much that their bodies compel them to practice their skills involuntarily which is why they wake in the night rocking back and forwards or sat bolt upright. Its very common for them to be up for 2 hours or more in the middle of the night and the phase can last 3-6 weeks. Apparently its not worth trying new techniques, just riding it out. I'm glad I read it because although there were no helpful tips, at least I won't feel so close to the end of my tether when she wakes up crying 5 mins after being put back to sleep for the umpteenth time. I do wonder what I should do as she won't just cuddle up as she's determined to stand, crawl, rock, sit etc but cries if not patted and stroked. I'm so tempted to get up with her and take her downstairs, but would that set up a habit for 3 hours of playing in the middle of the night?! Ho hum.

Books- I have loads on Kindle that are dead cheap. What type of books are you into?

NoHunIntended · 27/07/2011 10:56

Got you, HJ. Shame no baby photos. I am nosey! :) And no worries, I don't mention MN either!

Not a FB fan, Mock?! Come add us!

DS prefers to say Dada to Mama too. I think the word forms better in their mouths, D is easier than M - that is my theory! :) Not that daddy is favourite!

Hope those little ears are ok.

Thanks for the regression tip. Haven't had that yet. Sounds tiring!

busyprocrastinating · 27/07/2011 11:46

Tribble i have worked full time the last three weeks which is why important things have been neglected, like mn!, I was exhausted and as our school was closing down there was lots of evening events to attend too. It was do able, especially once I'd got a routine sorted, but I don't know how long I could have maintained it for.
Am now trying to enjoy the holidays but am so busy this week and off to a hen do for the weekend. It is also my birthday which means I will be spending my first one that DD has been here away from her Sad. Have also, maybe rather stupidly, agreed to take on someones dog that they were rehoming (not the dogs fault) Mock you have dogs don't you? Do you think it is going to be managable with LO, any tips?
We have also going to try camping and have been busy buying all the stuff. Sea are you the camper?
I went to see Harry Potter last night was very excited. Grin
Anyway glad everyone is doing well- it has just taken me ages to catch up on all the news.
I am a facebooker too- so would love to add you- how have you been doing it?

NoHunIntended · 27/07/2011 12:54

bp, have PMed you re Fb!

Good to see you here!

SilverSky · 27/07/2011 13:13

Anyone know how you pick up your pm's on the iPhone app?

I too don't mention MN on fb. Don't want to out myself and have nowhere to moan about things in private! GrinGrin

HarrietJones · 27/07/2011 13:41

Silver you can't!

I think anyone who is friends with nohun should be able to find me. I'll pm hints if anyone wants them.

Just watched the end of Marley and Me. God, I wish I hadn't. Just about to take one of the dogs to the vets! He's really hurt his hock and he's wincing loads and so isn't himself. He's normally hardcore. He went on Friday and they thought it was a sting but its not going away. One very miserable hound Sad.

busyprocrastinating · 27/07/2011 14:19

Another one here who doesn't mention mn in real life Smile

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 27/07/2011 15:17

My other dog must be wondering what on earth is going on. First I leave with the baby and come back without her (nursery) then I leave with the other dog and come back without him. He's being knocked out so they can examine him without him shrieking and leaping off the table.

I had him in a headlock with soothing words but his 14.4kgs of considerable muscle was too much and he dived off the examination table in pain 4 times. The first time he managed to headbutt the wall. Its really hard to lift a dog onto a table without touching his back leg and doing it when he doesn't want to be there. The vet stood and watched me struggle everytime. But then again the dog probably wouldn't be too impressed that the person causing the pain was lifting him up, but I could have done with some assistance holding the dog while he was being examined but it wasn't forthcoming. When I was filling out the paperwork to have him admitted, he hid his head in my handbag....

I'm very pleased I was able to go without DD as she gets very upset hearing the dog cry. They are very much pals. Also now she's very mobile I don't want her touching his leg and him crying and possibly nipping her.

NoHunIntended · 27/07/2011 15:59

I don't keep a particularly private profile on here, and I have actually suggested to a few friends who are newly pg that a forum might be a good place for info and support, and I'll suggest MN. And nothing I post on here is anything I wouldn't say to anyone in RL, but there does seem to be an unwritten rule that one doesn't talk about MN in RL, let alone admit to being on it!

If you can't get your PMs, maybe join the Mn group on Fb, post a comment, let us know, and then we can find you? Bit convoluted, but may work!

Hope the dog thing goes ok, Mock.
