StoneBaby · 21/05/2011 19:14

They're so cute.

SocietyClowns · 21/05/2011 19:28

dd2 is getting much easier to look after and I thought yesterday that the baby phase really is over now. I can now just put a plate and spoonor fork in front of her and she will feed herself and push the plate away when she's had enough. She will also come to me to tell me she has done a poo, and if we are upstairs she will go into her room, pull out her changing mat from under her cot, and lie down on it ready for me to change her Smile. She uses quite a few words, which help to keep tantrums to a minimum because she can tell me what she wants! She's actually quite good company now and tries to make little jokes to amuse me. The only thing I would want to change is that she now sees between 5 and 6 as a quite acceptable time to get up Hmm. Got around this the last two days by putting a few books and toys at the bottom of her cot when I went to bed. This morning she entertained herself for nearly an hour 'reading' her books until I was conscious enough to get up closer to 7 Grin

StoneBaby · 21/05/2011 19:33

DS is more than happy to stay in his dirty nappy up until he sits. Then he screams. I tried to sit him on the potty to get him use to it but he much prefers to stand on it or push it around or knee backward on the top of it (his favourite). I haven't won this one yet.

LittlebearH · 21/05/2011 21:06

SC Your girls look adorable! Mightily impressed at what DD2 can do!

My DD had her feet measured today and has gone from a size 3 to a 4 and a half! In 6 weeks!! Daddy bought her some trainers which flash and she learnt to walk stamping her feet to make them flash! Very funny to watch. She also got some very tasteful patent shoes, that mummy chose!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 22/05/2011 07:38

What a relief, SB (no pox)

Soc, they look like little angels in that pic! I'm also impressed at your DD2. She's definitely got a pretty advanced understanding for her age, I'd say.

Love the stomping with the flashing trainers, LBH!

DD is quite good at toddling into her room and onto the mattress where we change her when we tell her it's time to change her nappy or get ready for her bath. She also puts one or both hands to her mouth and does a coy grin if anyone burps or farts.... Grin
She's getting the hang of "Head, shoulders, knees and toes..." although she missed out the shoulders (!)
Walking is now her favourite mode of mobility, although she's still a bit dubious about doing it outside - although growing in confidence every day.
DD's not at all keen on the swings at the park but she loves the slide, especially the wooden ladder going up to it.

We had 4am funtime this morning Hmm I'm not sure quite what was up. A combination of teeth and feeling a bit too cool in her thinnest sleeping bag.

Speaking of matches, DD spent ages sitting in her high chair carefully tipping out the cooking matches from the inner part of the box (I wasn't going to let her near the striking part!) and putting them back in again. I've discovered the best way of getting a good portion of porridge down DD is to give her plenty of things to play with (stuff she can "sort out" usually) while I rapidly spoon it in. It's working so far!

LBH Grin at the feet stamping

I'm impressed by your LO doing the moves on nursery songs. DS laughs when he sees me doing them Hmm . But I guess he'll learn them at nursery.

He started whinging on and off since 3am. I discovered why at 7am as his pooey nappy had leaked all over his sleepsuit and sleeping bag. Ooops!

Have a good Sunday all

Enjoy your Brew

SconesForTea · 22/05/2011 10:24

I wish DD could tell us when she's done poo - she's still getting a very sore bottom if we manage to miss one for any amount of time. Thank goodness she's not doing 4 a day anymore

It seems DD's bad nights have been down to a cold - she was snotty Friday and most definitely suffering yesterday and today. DH and I can feel it coming on today, too Hmm We've got BIL, SIL and DD's cousin coming over for lunch. Now I can't be bothered to cook the menu I've planned, I'm frikkin' knackered. Better get to it I suppose

StoneBaby · 22/05/2011 18:50

scones good luck with the cold and the sleeping. This does most of the time, send the routine into the bin.

Speaking of sore bottom, we're are alternating between sore and normal. At the moment we're between normal to red. DS last blisters lasted about 3 months up until they were gone and then came back 3 days later!!!! Shock but they are dormant at the present.

PenguinArmy · 23/05/2011 03:46

SB We have a similar situation. It's amazing how long some of them take to fully heal. DH puts her in disposables when it flares up again as he's often busy in the week to give her adequate naked time.

I'm aware I've not been on this thread much lately, just been a bit emotionally odd. This is the thread I'm normally honest and open up on so have found it difficult to post but have enjoyed reading everyone's activities.

scones did you cook the big dinner?

InmaculadaConcepcion · 23/05/2011 06:25

PA are you okay?

OP posts:
LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 23/05/2011 07:00

I understand PA, hope you are OK though

scones I guess the diastasis is what you get for having BIG babies (and apparently CSs Confused). It started with DD1 BTH but got worse this time as it is not reverting, but then it did hurt after DD1, not this time around. No need for surgery just being careful and doing the exercises should avoid a hernia in the future. Be careful girls especially the pregnant ones, roll off the bed!

LBH welcome back. foot stomping sounds fun.

LittlebearH · 23/05/2011 14:06

Hello everyone,

Today I have learned that we must keep the toilet lid down permanantly. I have just found DDs socks down the toilet.

What have you learned today??

(PA Hope you are ok, possibly hormones? I would like to know how to switch my head off at times. I think you are very strong, especially with the amount of times your DD wakes. So dont be too hard on yourself. )

SconesForTea · 23/05/2011 14:14

Really roll off the bed? I honestly didn't take any notice of that advice last time... I hope it improves soon Mous.

I did cook lunch in the end - DH's brother and his wife are strange people. We haven't seen them since becoming pg but they didn't mention it once (they are aware, also I look far more pg than I am, I am huge). No word of congratulations, no asking how I am, or are we looking forward to it or.... anything. I thought that was strange. Also it's another cousin for their DD, who will only ever have cousins from DH and... nothing! Pah. Duty done anyway.

PA you ok? Not long until your trip now? How is feeding DD coming along? I'm feeding DD once a day, at bedtime. It still really hurts when she latches on but after that it's fine. Thank goodness. It was so unbelievable painful for a while.

Now though I have everyone telling me that I 'must' stop feeding her soon, i.e. with enough time for her to forget about it before newbaby comes along. But I still really enjoy our one feed and also it calms her down when nothing else will (like the other night after 2.5 hours of trying to get her to sleep Hmm). I think I may just start saying that I don't feed her any more, when people ask. But why should I have to lie?! Confused

Haven't heard from Abs in a while, you ok?

SocietyClowns · 23/05/2011 17:58

dd2 has just discovered that if she pushes her highchair (triptrap one) around the kitchen and then climbs up the front of it she can reach things Mama thought were quite safely out of her reach Confused... I can't get over how different my two are. dd2's climbing skills keep terrifying me. Her favourite spot is standing on top of a small table in dd1's room, shouting at cats Grin. She has walked off the table once or twice but didn't seem to mind landing on the rug below. As for standing on top of her highchair in a kitchen with quarry tiles......
Waving at everyone... I'm on bedtime duty so will come back later.

StoneBaby · 23/05/2011 18:49

PA you're ok?

scones family can be full of odd people Grin

Rolling of the bed? I was never advised this when pg Confused

Apparently there's nothing abnormal with my scan... So I'll need to go back to GP and see what's next Hmm

abs has been quiet for a few weeks (months?). Is anybody friend with her of FB?

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 23/05/2011 18:55

badly phrased I meant roll on your side then swing the legs out and push with the arm, i.e not sit up directly.

bethylou · 23/05/2011 22:27

Reading every few days here, in between gardening in the dark and ironing so many of DS2's clothes - not quite sure how he's wearing so many!

Highlights here include finding DS2 not just standing but dancing (no handed) on one of their little IKEA wooden chairs and looking very proud of himself. Better still, tonight he walked into DS1's bedroom completely unprompted, said, "Night, night," and came back to get into his cot. We take him to say it each night but it's the first time he's actually done more than waved and also did it independently. DH and I melted, needless to say. Even DS1 seemed quite impressed!

Scones sorry to hear about the rubbish sleep and colds. I can't lie and say the lack of sleep with two is easy (unless you get SC's two who sleep ( I think?), but you muddle through and I actually find it less all-consuming this time round, but I can't explain why. Maybe just less time to worry about it? Grin

SC lovely picture. When my two are less spotty, will put a picture of them up on FB too.

Hi to everyone else - off to do my exercises for my pelvis, of which I am soooo bored!

PenguinArmy · 24/05/2011 02:55

I am fine thank you all, just not sure where I am on a few things. Probably mainly from the fact that DD has had no BF for over a week :( I didn't set out to wean and the pain had even seemed to turn a corner. Decided we would try and resettle if she woke and I would feed if she didn't go off. Only 95% of the time she has gone straight off. I was dreading going to bed as I knew she would wake and supply was really low. Now that she has a later bedtime I'm thinking of feeding her then but then I think that she eats in the hour before she goes down. Ironically my supply seems better now although I have a lumpy left breast. Ideally she would initiate feeding but as she never did (and I never fed in the day at any point) I doubt it, but maybe when the new one comes along... Also this week I did one 13 hour shift, one 14.5 hr shift, was out climbing one night and then had a long day another day (but at home in the evening) so can't guarantee to be home at bedtime. Although I shouldn't have anymore long days now, my run of experiments should be over.

Was also hoping it might help sleep as I knew she wasn't getting food, often she would be asleep before let down (if I had one) so was worried I was holding her back. We've had some better nights but also much worse nights and she does often wake up starving so trying to decide whether to introduce something around 3am or not. ahhh it's all such a dilemma.

Scones That must have been so hard. DH's parents sometimes make reference to it and I know it really gets to him and I found no reaction more hurtful than a horrible reaction.

They mentioned it this week because they asked for the due date and then announced if it was early they couldn't be there as they would be on holiday. I didn't tell them what popped into my head Grin

DD now walks into the bedroom if we tell her to go to bed :)

LBH we learnt that lesson a long time ago. The water levels in the toilet are quite high here and DD loves nothing more than putting her hands in the water. Thankfully she hasn't yet learned to lift the lid.

6 week until road trip. Have a review on the 2nd so that will be me busy for the next few weeks.

(sorry that was all a bit me me me)

PenguinArmy · 24/05/2011 05:57

and also might have come across a bit more negative than I intended. I have realised that when I spend time with DD one on one that she reattaches really quickly and after this weekend I've been her favourite again. I can see that we're equal favourites :) and yes sometimes I don't see her that much for a few days, but then we can quickly get back again to where we were. Plus I taught her to lick her lips today. She giggled like crazy every time I did it until she cottoned on as well.

StoneBaby · 24/05/2011 15:04

PA you are good mummy, and you also know that you'll spend more time with her as from July.

Finished work earlier today, so I'm having a quick lunch before picking up DS to go to HV.

bethy that's so cute!

PenguinArmy · 24/05/2011 17:42

thanks SB I don't generally feel like a bad mum just finding weaning decisions all rather emotional

bethy did you pic upload to fb? I saw the comment but no picture

PenguinArmy · 24/05/2011 17:44

plus I take it you all know Nigel is in deed a boy :)

PenguinArmy · 24/05/2011 18:01
StoneBaby · 24/05/2011 18:04

Is Roo her soother? I'm actually thinking of buying a 2nd Jack-Henry just in case!

I love your bump's name Grin

PenguinArmy · 24/05/2011 18:20

Roo is her soother and also in desperate need of a wash. DH doesn't like to as he thinks she needs the smell, but I've tried to point out she's not a few months old anymore Grin and can easily recognise it. We tried to buy a new one, but they had stopped selling it. I should go and look online since I'm bored and stuck in the X-ray room anyway-- I'm working hard.
