Or maybe piddling whilst giggling is just me? Blush
It's so sunny here I feel Spring has sprung - where's that daffodil emoticon gone? Had a friend round this morning for a natter and cake - muchos snot and tears but all good. Think I might go for a little bike ride now to blow the cobwebs away.
And no vag - not a chance!

SL Grin at I LIKE MUSIC. We have that (dum de dum de dum de dum de dum de dum de dum brring). I swear I can't listen to the thing that they have both had in their cot. Thankfully gone to SIL now.

ZJ am very sad for your friend - I think those mmc are particularly hard. My SIL and a close friend had one last year and I think they are harder to get over than a "normal" miscarriage IYKWIM. All that hope Sad.

Am back at work. Was so much happier at home nattering to you Grin. Is a bit hellish at the moment - lots of people have been made redundant and they're all leaving this week. So lots of leaving dos.

And tomorrow I have my uncle's funeral - I don't think I even told you about him dying. All very sudden and shocking; and my cousins lost their Mum not long ago too. Horrible. Seems to be a run of bad things at the moment so am relishing every bit of other people's happiness. I know it sounds stupid but on bad days I try to think that for someone else it's the day they had their baby/met their love/achieved their dream. All cyclical. Am becoming even more of a hippie in my old age.

Jump that house has a huge garden - wow.

LadyT am glad the bank are being helpful too - Spot's suggestion of money pages of newspaper a good one. Does seem to get people's arses into gear.

Spot I am in awe of the way you are coping. You are truly heroic.

And Wg it really sounds like you need a break. Do take care of yourself. I know that's a stupid thing to say when you have 2 under 3 but I would let everything go hang and focus on resting as much as you can. I really hope you feel better soon.

Effie I am really tempted by a kindle. But am already fairly gagetted up so don't think I can justify.

Arti I had something to say to you and I can't remember. D'oh. Have finally sorted myself out with new parly pass so we should definitely meet for coffee.

In other news; DD gave up her naps a while ago. Sigh. Actually I really love having her up and about while DS is at school. And she's almost completely potty trained now - all thanks to our super nanny. Slightly irritatingly DD's decided that although she will put a nappy on at night, she won't wee in it so we have to keep getting up while she goes to the loo Hmm. SL DD was a bit slower to do most things than DS I think (although I think she may have walked earlier - I honestly can't remember). She was definitely months slower in terms of talking but is making up for it now. I can't remember if I told you but her first proper sentence was "he hit me mummy" about DS. Which wasn't even true - minx Grin.

Right night all as I am on early train. Am stealing DH's ipad to take with me so will be lurking if not posting.

zoejeanne · 01/04/2011 08:25

Summer Grin at your bolding crisis! I'll track down your thread and support you

Forgot to say yesterday to Beans that we haven't started potty training either yet, we have a potty and DD will happily sit on it before her bath but hasn't done anything yet, in fact when she has felt a wee coming on she jumps up and runs away to do it on the carpet. I don't think she's quite ready yet. I'm sort of thinking that Easter might be a good time to start, with 2 ling weekends and no plans to go anywhere, but that is this month now and I'm not ready yet!

traceface · 01/04/2011 09:47

hello Smile
zj so sorry about your poor friend Sad
I'm enjoying the property porn. jj hope the viewing goes well today - it looked like a fab house.
And Beans that house is amazing - you'd need a cleaner and gardener though! Re potty training - we've been at it for about a month now (and not at all jealous of arti's 4 day success!) and we have ups and downs. She has had completely dry days on Wed and Thur this week so we'll see what today brings. I have tried to give up and give her a break, but then she whips her nappy off and goes to the toilet, so we can't really give up because she won't comply! Nursery are happy to just keep going, all quite low key, no pressure. I would have waited until the summer to do it as I was in no rush to get her started, but she was just not willing to wait!
urbs I'm sorry you're feeling better and have had to go back to work Wink
summer you make me laugh! Does it not do it with longer names? I thought it was if you tried to do two bold things without pressing 'return' in between - think I'll have to do a test!
Well I've done 2 days at work now and all is well Smile It's been a bit tough at times, just meeting with my manager and discussing action plans etc for supporting me, which has involved looking at occ health reports on me, which doesn't make for a very comfortable read, but it's great to be back and I can't wait to get stuck in. I'm having my work handed back gradually, so that my 'worst' child protection cases are still looked after by someone else until after Easter. I'm working 3 days next week, then we have 2 weeks off, then there are 2 BHs the following week and one the week after that, so, although I'll be officially back on normal hours straight after the 2 week break, in practical terms it will be another 2 weeks after that. That was boring wasn't it?!! Grin
AF arrived on my first day back too, then seemed to have gone completely by Wednesday evening, then has returned a little today. What is going on? My blood results are all normal, so I've no idea why my body is acting all hormonal. My consultant has said I could try to reduce my dose of my new meds to see if it stops the leaky boob, but I would rather stay well on this dose and have a leaky boob.
Also I called in at the chemist to get some thrush stuff, as it's really sore, and she said it was cheaper on prescription, so I went to see the nurse and said " I think I've got thrush", and she said to buy it as it's cheaper over the counter. I was too embarrassed to say "no it's not, I've already been", so I just said ok, then went and bought it for twice the price of a prescription Blush I'm such a wussy wally!
Right. I fancy a crumpet with chocolate spread on some fruit so I'm off. See you later aligators xxx

Gah there's a man on the train clipping his nails and for some reason is totally grossing me out. X-posted lady - that song is hilarious. Am travelling through your neck of the woods I think. Is very pretty.

traceface · 01/04/2011 10:04

I forgot to say ladyt I think the song is hilarious! You should write it down and show her when she's older!
And Yak Yak Yak to the nail clipper man urbs. Maybe Little O's song is a prophetic song about what will happen to him if he continues to clip his nails on public transport?

OP posts:
traceface · 01/04/2011 10:07

Whoops. hadn't noticed that urbs described the song as 'hilarious'. Now I look like I have to steal adjectives because I can't think of my own.

trace Glad work went okay for you!

Zoe That is so sad for your poor friend

lady Ho bloody infuriating about the cheque? We have the opposite problem, the Tax Man reckons we owe £2K. I'll go fecking bankrupt before the numptys get a penny of it they are completely wrongAngry

beans I have friends like that too, and at times have probably been guilty of being a crap friend. I canget to wrapped up in myself and neglect those who I care about.

Am trying to be more positive and less self pitying at the moment. Have just been for a 5K run, in fact have been trying to run quite a bit lately as it seems to put me in a more positive mood Hmm. Weird! Hopefully, I'll post more you ladies cheer me up tooSmile.

Oh and someone mentioned my Nan way back, Lady I think? Well she has her reversal op(again) this Wednesday.

TheInvisibleHand · 01/04/2011 13:32

OK, I am way behind, stupidly tired and supposed to be doing some clever thinking right now.

But seeing the chit chat on potty training, I thought I'd give you DS's take on the subject after having a seat: "Mummy, not working. Needs batteries".

I'll catch up on personals soon.

Artichokes · 01/04/2011 14:01

Sob, sob, sob. DH nailed through a heating pipe under the floorboards. Water is seeping through. Now we have to take floorboards up to fix pipe.

I hate moving.

I hate DIY.

I miss having a HOME.

Sob, sob, sob.

Oh, and DD2 shat on the newly sanded floorboards so don't be too jealous of my four day "success" Trace.

Sob.

zoejeanne · 01/04/2011 17:45

Crossed with LadyT and Urbs this morning, I didn't see the new page. Arse, poo and bum about the no show of the cheque LadyT, any sign of it today or has another week passed? I love your DDs song (note I've not copied hilarious, but can't think of alternative anyway). One of our fish died last week, Daddy's fish (the others are called Mummy's fish and Weezy's fish, named by DD). She keeps telling people quite happily 'Daddy's fish poorly, gone, Mummy sad, Weezy sad', except more often than not she forgets to actually say fish and people look on in horror because they think DH has gone and died. Death is obviously a concept too far for her little brain

I'm pleased you're feeling better Urbs, and still on here too. Good news on the potty training, but I'm sorry to hear about your uncle

Trace your posts are so funny to read at the moment, especially stealing adjectives Grin. Its great to hear work is going well, well done to P

Hi Deids . I am impressed with the running, don't think I could do about 5 yards, let alone 5k. I hope all goes well for your Nan

Arrrggghh Arti, what a nightmare. Are the floorboards salvage-able and ok to go back down once the pipe is sorted, or they ruined? I hope not

How are you feeling today WG? And we've not heard from Mom recently, how are you and little M getting on?

My friend is doing ok, very accepting that that is life and it wasn't meant to be, but obviously not looking forward to the mc. You are exactly right Urbs she only thinks it's unfair that she didn't find out sooner so she didn't waste time dreaming. Apparently she's only cried twice, both tines because I've been nice. So I am banned from being nice. I was going to get her some flowers to cheer her up, but as that probably classes as nice it'll have to be mouldy cheese or something instead

Bus has stopped now, have a good weekend all xx

urbanewarrior · 01/04/2011 19:18

On train on way back. Had planned to do a load of work but can't face it. Am so tired that I keep nodding off. Funeral was pretty bad. I know they're never great but this was such a shock. And my poor cousins. Sad he was a lovely man.

Trace you can help yourself to any adjective you like Grin I can report that the eveningnprimrose oil has really made a difference to the breast pain I was getting so definitely worth a try.

And arti what a nightmare.you will get there!

Deids am impressed with your running-I ran to catch train this morning and it nearly killed me.

Am going to sleep again - at least I can't miss stop (remind me I said this when I wake up back in oxford in a couple of hours)

Hope you're having fun friday nights xx

JamInMyWellies · 01/04/2011 20:34

Arti what an absoloute fecker. Just think in a yr you will have your beautiful forever home.

Ladyt love your DD

Dieds keep up the running. DH has 2 wks to go until the London marathon.

SL you have made me chuckle with your bolding issues.

Trace you are sounding so positive. Grin

ZJ your poor friend.

Potty training you say? Nope no idea what you are on about.

LadyRubena · 01/04/2011 23:27

At the risk of copying LadyT I thought I would test drive my new title thanks to Vagola! It's only temporary, but please, still call me Rubes Grin

Jaaaaaaammmmmmmyyyyyyyyyy I'm here! feel very loved! Thanks SmileWhen are we having that meet up?

JumpJ great news about your friends pg Smile Was going to call you JJ but after the bold drama [pmsl] I decided I'd go with your semi formal name. Didn't think JJock was as appropriate Grin

LadyT LOVING dd's song - albeit a bit odd! Hmm gotta love her though! Glad they are feeling better..... Bugger that cheque business.... get up em. Glad your bank is cooperating. See you soon I hope

Zoe so interesting regarding Sarah Booby. yes she did give birth to a small village Lady but she had loads of nannies and help not to mention cashola..... Not really the point of having kids if you ask me. I need to have only the amount I can cope with actually having fun with everyday (I should probably hold off on documenting my day)

Spot So upbeat, so positive, such a pleasure to read your posts. So glad you are doing SO well with your uphill battle.... You will come out a champ - actually you already are x

Beans loads of friends like that, and I have to really work at biting my tongue. Don't have quite the grace that LadyT does (despite my title Grin) I know what you mean about the house... If you are spending good money, you want to have the "feeling" when you walk in, and you will know when it's the right place. geez your dh sounds like he's working like if not more than my dh!

Arti Bugger bloody bugger. But honestly, small small teeny setback (hopefully Hmm) in the grand scheme of things) Your sitting room is fairly spectacular.... you will sit back there and quaff your champagne one day soon and laugh about all the stress of the diy. How is DD? I may have missed the update.

Pingu how is the bump and will you find out what flavour? wonders if baby girl clothes could be forwarded Grin

Summer dd is a bit random... She always goes to bed around 7pm and still wakes for a feed around 11pm then sometimes goes through until 4 or 5 (only recently) but sometimes wakes up at 2 or 3. if she does this though, it's not always for food as she soemtimes does a huge burp or fart then goes back to sleep.... Bottle not much of a concern as she takes it room temp and I'm really really slack and just put it in a thermal bag and take it upstairs with me when I go to bed Blush She is slower than ds at the sitting up and crawling thing I think as she doesn't seem interested and gives up easily although moves her legs in a frantic frog like motion. mostly she just lays back MiniLadyTdd1 style and today at toddler group they said she's hilarious as she chatters away and lays back like she's on a sun lounger waiting for someone to bring her a milk cocktail Grin Not sure where she gets that from. I have no doubt she will talk WAY earlier than ds did as she doesn't shut up with her jibbering all day when she is awake! Very cute though Smile

Sybs (if you are lurking) was / am / am thinking about it / will definitely take up running soon and ventured onto the fitness threads where I noticed your presence.. Felt betrayed... (for a brief moment until I remembered I was there about to post as well!) I see you're fairly active over there Hmm (pardon the pun) I'm too scared to post for fear of then being commited and failing at my attempts to become a runner!

Another poo themed day for me.... I have been gardening again (and I use the term rather loosely) More like re-potting Hmm
had to go out to some shops Grinso drove to toddlers group then to the shopping centre - ds fell asleep in car so although I waited ages for a parking spot I saw it as a positive..... got a good spot, unloaded buggy, dd, bag..... bag felt particularly light... realised i used other bag the other day and left purse in it.... paniced about how I will pay for car parking ticket.... loaded dd back in car.... found £1 in car.... paid 80p ticket (10 mins) ds woke and screamed bloody murder as wanted to get out.... dd smelt quite vile.... explosive poo through vest, jeans, then on socks whilst changing her with head squashed against gear stick on passenger seat.... ds still screaming.... Rubes pissed off now - no money with me anyway, so decided go home and have lunch then re-group.... after lunch, fresh clothes, new beginning decide to go to Mothercare..... Not 5 mins in trolley and dd does 2nd explosive poo through vest, tights, skirt and now on handbag.... ds decided not coming into changeroom without LittleTikes bloody ride IN car thing..... Fortunately changeroom a disabled toilet and very large.... tried to leave after getting necessary goods and call it a day..... DS has tantrum of all tantrums as won't get out of LittleTikes car and attempts to drive it out of the store.... Alarm goes off, so DS was then carried kicking and screaming to the car.... DD happy again and in shock at brothers behaviour..... Big glass of wine when Rubes got home Grin and Rubes has decided that experiment of ds dropping daytime nap not going entirely to plan, so daytime nap shall be reinstated.....

LadyRubena · 01/04/2011 23:37

Oh and I meant to add - was going to pick up some fitflops while I was out on the disasterous poo themed/no money shopping trip as I have spoken to people who swear by them? if nothing else they apparently can help improve posture (mine is utterly crap) so i know I am way behind the fitflop convo but I'm going to get some - you know me, always a sucker for something that claims to tone your arse and thighs.... DH did a big Hmm when I mentioned them but I reminded him it's Mothering Sunday weekend and he needs to wind his neck right in as I didn't see the new jet washer as particularly (actually I did - the deck looks fab, but we won't tell him that) necessary after I think his brother buggered our last one Grin

sybilfaulty · 02/04/2011 14:22

Hello everyone

Oh the joys of wireless broadband! I am sitting in the garden with M in his wee car, girls are out buying birthday presents and I am, er, supervising with a cup of coffee and Radio 3. Happily our garden is the size of a handkerchief so he can't go far.

Bugger, someone at the door. Back in a minuite XX

zoejeanne · 02/04/2011 15:10

Hello LadyRubena , your tale of your day out is hysterical, but I definitely feel rather you than me. Much more entertaining to hear it afterwards than be there. I thought of you and DS this morning, as DD lay down on the pavement in the middle of town and refused to move, leaving me with the choice of abandoning either the shopping or her as I couldn't carry it all. I started off being all reasonable and getting down to her level and trying to talk her round and ended up with all eyes on me as I bellowed 'MUMMY SAID WALK NICELY' and resolved the issue by picking her up by her reins so I could carry the bags too, and praying they wouldn't snap before I got to the car. I'm sure you'll be seeing the technique approved for use by supernanny before long Hmm

Sybs your garden time sounds bliss

Urbs sorry to hear the funeral was so hard, I think seeing your cousins upset makes you think it could easily be you losing your own parents. Did you stay awake till your station, or are you still travelling round the railway network, snoring gently?

Good news that my friend's baby with the hole in the heart came home from hospital yesterday Smile

Off to tart myself off up as DD and I are modelling for a charity fashion show later. It sounds glam, and providing DD doesn't repeat her face down position she will be quite glam. We have Joules clothes and she has an adorable little skirt to wear. I am torn between being grateful that I've got jeans and a huge fleece to wear, and being hurt that my smooth limbs aren't considered lithe enough to model to gorgeous summer dresses that have been given to the spotty teenagers instead. I mean, I could pass for a size 6, 16 year old any day, couldn't I?

sybilfaulty · 02/04/2011 16:57

CHarity fashion show sounds nice Zoe.

Well, been guests in and out all afternoon. Just nipped to Majestic to stock up on yummy wine and some beer for DH's birthday. Have skimmed the last few pages but am sure I have missed lots.

LadyT, I share your frustration about the cheque. HMRC is a nightmare. Any more news on when you might be in the new gaff. Fingers crossed it's soon.

JJ and Beans, I am loving the house porn. Very envious. I keep looking at places round here to see how much we/d get for ours and then fantasising about what we could buy. Arti, I am sorry your new place does not feel homely yet. Apparently drilling through a pipe is a rite of passage for all DIYing husbands. Andrew did it in the bathroom in my flat when we were tarting that up - most annoying. How much is there to do?

Rubes, I can heartily recommend C25k as it does what is says on the tin very effectively. I do post a bit on the C25k thread but only because we are a disparate group of wannabees and so you can post about yourself without feeling rude if you ignore everyone else. As we have been here for so long, I don't feel I can just post about myself and then run without acknowledging other people. Are you going to join us?

WG, I am sorry to hear you are still not feeling good. Take care and take it easy as far as you can with 2 under 3.

Spot, how are things? Hope you are being suitably tended by the medical profession and they are managing to get B a bit more comfortable.

Arti, I am sorry to read about your DD2, how is she now? Am thinking of you darling.

Urbs, are you better now?

Hello Invis, hope you are not working too hard.

Am seriously impressed by those doing potty malarkey. I was planning to leave it to the summer and hoping nursery would do most of it for me. Matthew is showing no signs.

sybilfaulty · 02/04/2011 17:04

Sorry I thought I should post before someone stamped on the keyboard and I lost it.

Vag how are you? I know what you mean about DS2 being more demanding. M is very good at entertaining himself but has become more assertive lately and much less easy to fob off.

Beans, I know what you mean about disappointing friends. I try hard to be a kind friend but know I can fall short at times. I have one school friend who keeps writing long chatty letters and is lucky to get a short email back. I also have plenty of friends for whom I am the audience though. It's rubbish though when people don't make an effort for really important things. Am thinking of your dad this week.

Have one more nightmare week at work, then things get so much easier. Cannot wait. Am knackered. Need to book some holidays and get lots of house jobs done. We are having our kitchen and dining room knocked together and I need to get it started. Perhaps I should get a hammer and knack the first bit down?! Am slightly concerned as to how much it is all going to cost but I hope it will be worth it.

I can smell poo. Back shortlky. Happy Mother's Day if I get sidetracked and don't get back on before tomorrow.

vagolaJahooli · 02/04/2011 20:45

I've been lurking again and not posting and of course have forgotten what most have said. I think I need to have a little notebook app open while I post so I can jot down things as I go to post later.

Sybs I might pop over to the running threads I used to be on a mumsnetters keep on running one yonks ago when I still lived in London. It was really motivating.

Rubes love the name but if your worried about cutting ladyT's mustard, how about RubenaRegina instead.

Arti I'm so sorry about your DIY woes that is all too hard.

Rubs your entire post had me giggling away.

We have had an amazingly warm day here, 22 degrees but felt even warmer and glorious sunshine. The little Aussie women's club I'm in had an Easter egg hunt today (most are away for Easter so they have it early) & the boys had a brilliant time. There is quite a little pack of kids at these events, they all know each other and get on beautifully it is really nice to see. I guess even though they don't get to be around family they must get something out of being with such a great bunch of expat kids.

DS2 is talking so much now its actually bordering on annoying, but only jyst. He does have a really cute voice when he isn't repeating things over and over again hr is quite sweet. He has also taken a shine to a book I bought in an old secondhand bookshop years ago. It's 'Homer's Iliad' printed in 1720 & I bought it cos it looked old and cool. He won't let it go and calls it "his beautiful book". It is quite a nice looking book in an old antique book kind of way, but its funny that a two year old sees it that way. He really surprises me with his sensitive side every now and again. Generally he spends his time roaring at passers by and jumping on DH or I, but every now and then he'll do something quite out of character.

Lady, DD1's song made me giggle, very heartfelt.

Right better go we are having another sneaky takeaway tonight.

JamInMyWellies · 02/04/2011 20:53

JB have emailed you.

Happy Mothers Day to you all for tom. I have already been told I can lie in for an extra hr with the boys jumping on my head while DH delays his run or I can do early doors with the boys while DH does his run. Hmm But apparantly I will then be allowed to enjoy the day. Hmm Honestly this marathon milaraky is doing my nut in. Grin Enjoy your day lovely girls.

vagolaJahooli · 02/04/2011 22:37

ZJ meant to say that harness thing was so funny, but also what a brilliant use for it! And the charity thingy sounds glam, do you get to keep the clothes?

Happy mothers day for Sunday, I have to wait until may for mine. Hope you get spoilt. Jam what option did you go for, is TV on while you stay in bed a possibility?

zoejeanne · 03/04/2011 11:01

Happy mothers day lovely ladies, I hope you've all enjoyed a lie in and breakfast in bed - well, we can dream! x
