spilt great to hear how you are getting on - I can't believe you're 30 weeks already!! Must be great to have finished work too. She sounds like a right little wiggler, Lara was the same in my tummy and now she doesn't stop squirming in her sleep too - she's wriggling away as I type in the dark!! (I should really be asleep but wanted to say howdy) :)

muser I am in constant dread of growth spurts. Had one around 6 weeks when I think I lost about 5 pounds in a week, but none since. Suddenly finding feeding exhausting though, think it's all catching up with me a bit!

Oh re: tummy time, she hates it. Cries almost instantly and I feel mean making her do it!! Do you reckon it's, um, really necessary??!

We've had 2 7pm-7am sleeps in the last week. Unbelievable when it happens!!! But usually she has a feed at 4ish. I'm expecting things to go backwards again before forwards- the dreaded "4 month sleep regression" that you always read about on these boards!

1Catherine1 · 12/06/2011 23:07

Anya isn't keen anymore either lozario - before she used to try and climb up me when on her belly on me but now she just fusses. Apparently though we should persevere as it will aid development for crawling and such.

spilt - it is really great to get an update. I hope you are enjoying your free time while you have it. :)

cherub59 · 13/06/2011 10:50

Haven't been online for a few days other than to lurk as have had a hideous attack of mastitis which finger crossed have caught just before became an abbess.... Feeling pretty miserable as desperately want to keep bf up but it is excruciating!

Had a v small lump in boob on sat evening which I have had before and always managed to massage/feed out but woke at midnight in agony with fever and was crying with the pain. Was up most of the night trying to get ollie to feed(I actually woke him up yo feed) or to express but made no difference. Was vomiting, delirious, couldn't keep water down....
Spent most of Sunday doing hot compresses hot baths, feeding etc then dh took charge (I do like it when he decides he has to sort everything out!) got a dr to home visit and got me antibiotics....

Boob is bright red and still pretty rock hard but fever finally gone....

Can't really believe it as this is my 3rd baby so should be an old pro but seems I had a milk blister which allowed an infection into my boob....
Sorry for the whinging just feeling low!

For those who don't like london... I live right in the centre of London and it just takes a lot of planning. Try to use tubes with lifts but basically we just use the sling. Buses can be a pain as they will only let a certain number of buggies on.
For days out ollie has been carted everywhere - he's done legoland twice already!!
Anyone coming to London with toddlers I would recommend the science museum over the natural history museum- the water garden on the basement level and the pattern pod on the ground floor are fab interactive play areas and the also do things like a bubble show. I live 20 mins walk from the museums so am there all the time!

cherub59 · 13/06/2011 10:51

That's abcess not abbess!!

ckny1 · 13/06/2011 12:45

Cherub, good that fever went away and hope everything else heals soon!

Spilt, great to see you again, and PLEASE take Catherine's advice very seriously! :)

Franz has his ups & downs with tummy time. Enjoyed it more when he was 1 mo, but now sometimes whinges/cries...it depends on his mood and what's going on in his belly at the time, so we do it a few times a day for short periods. Now he's big on laying on his side and playing with his toys.

Just hoovered for the 1st time since pre-pregnancy (DH has been doing much of the housework these days) and Franz loved Henry the Hoover! :)

shreddinghippo · 13/06/2011 13:28

Envy of ckny only just hoovering!!!! I cant remember were you Csect? If so I'll let you off Wink

I've just sent DD1 to a friends for an hour, Beth has (thankfully) gone down for a nap in her cotbed, so I will spend my hour off MNing /ironing. (Mostly MNing).

cherub that sounds unbelievably painful! I am lucky not to have had mastitis, but I just bumped my boob into the door frame and that hurt enough!

I'm heading up to London this Weds, for that BFing study at St Thomas' Hospital, and am taking both the girls with me, thankfully it is walking distance from Waterloo so wont have to tackle underground.
For you Londoners, what is in walking distance of W'loo that I can take my DD1 to as it is supposed to be a treat trip to London for her after the appointment?

mixedmamameansbusiness · 13/06/2011 13:35

Split - great to hear from you. Maternity leave is bliss isnt it.

We live reasonably central, abotu 45 -60 min walk to Oxford Street. I walk or bus everywhere, in my world pushchiars and escalaltors do not mix. I do not mind stairs though. I use the overground a lot and just bump up and down if we have the pushchair. We live on the firstfloor so I am used to the stairs thing.

I have ventured down towards Baker Street etc with all 3 in tow over the Easter holidays and it was ok. I guess I am very used to it though.

Strange that Pizza Hut asked for a reservation. There are some that are very busy though so perhaps that is why.

I second the science museum though it is great.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 13/06/2011 13:39

By the way I NEVER hoover. It was a condition of marriage - I am not made for hoovering Grin DH has always hoovered. I am however much more domesticated in my ways since having children.

shredding - Transport museum is Covent Gdn, other side of the river and possibly a bus ride but good fun. YUou can go for a year buthave to £13.50 for ticket. Aquarium on the South Bank, not sur eof that side of the water so not sure how close to Waterloo.

If you fancy some company FB me and we could come and meet you if it is within school hours.

Medee · 13/06/2011 13:53

cherub sorry to hear about the mastitis.

shreddinghippo · 13/06/2011 14:09

I obviously haven't trained my DH very well!
House tends to be my domain, but he is very definitely in charge of lawnmowing and hedge cutting etc. And anything car related. Grin

Mixed My appointment is at 12 and I expect to be there for up to 2 hours, will then probably head to Tate Modern, as I believe they have an under 5s area and I've never been. Its about half an hour walk from the hospital. If it will fit in with you then love to meet! In all likelihood though it sounds like it would be a tight squeeze for you to make it back for school pick up?

If not I am going to try and make it up at the end of the month as per FB.

ckny1 · 13/06/2011 14:36

Mixed, our condition was that I never iron b/c I just can't, plus none of my clothes need it. Yes, hippo, I had a CS so a great excuse to have DH do MOST of the housework, especially since I get a bit obsessive and end up hoovering parts of the house (toilet screws, paint off the walls)...no regrets since he never woke for a night feed in the early weeks.

Enjoy your London trip! :)

cherub59 · 13/06/2011 15:14

shredding I second the aquarium which is also right next to the London eye....
If u didn't mind getting a short taxi ride battersea zoo is fab- it's a childrens zoo with the most amazing playground (massive sandpit and even a real fire engine to play in)

Muser · 13/06/2011 18:48

The aquarium is ace.

OP posts:
mixedmamameansbusiness · 13/06/2011 19:56

shredding - yeas that looks a little tight. End of the month it is then.

ckny - pmsl at toilet screws. I dont iron either. Blimey what do I do???? Honestly I do clean absolutely everything else and I spend my life washing up and cleaning the toilet.

KPidgeon · 13/06/2011 20:37

Hi all,

Have missed loads of posts again, sorry all. We have now instigated a bedtime in our house- yeay us! Elijah has a feed at 7pm in the bedroom then we put him to bed in the cot. And after a while he goes off to sleep.

He's still just cat-napping on and off all day wherever he is- pushchair, or chair in the living room. Can't really start a nap routine as I like to be out of the house as much as I can most days- and there doesn't seem to be a real pattern yet. He's 11 weeks on Friday.

Can I ask a quick question- for those of you BFeeding how long does your LO feed for? I may have asked this already. E was bringing up a lot after each feed last week so I reduced his time from 15 mins to 10 mins (he never ever de-latches, so I have to de-latch him!). Does that sound ok?

Thanks all.
K

1Catherine1 · 13/06/2011 20:42

Anya feeds for about 10 to 15 minutes now (longer first thing in the morning but it's a dream feed so I guess she isn't trying too hard) and is 12 weeks on Wednesday so that sounds fine.

RE Cleaning - You lot make me feel terrible. I do 30 minutes of cleaning per day at max! I have a property check on Wednesday (dam rented accommodation) and my flat looks like a bomb has hit it so I've tons to do! Anya is sleeping now so I'm going to be lead by example and clean the kitchen... again... :(

Medee · 13/06/2011 21:33

Yep, sounds about right, KP.

Muser · 13/06/2011 22:08

1Catherine I find it so hard to do any cleaning that I have given up and we are getting a cleaner. Me and my other half got bored of spending all weekend taking it in turns to tidy and clean. Now we can spend our weekends doing fun stuff.

OP posts:
Cheeseandbiscuits · 14/06/2011 06:51

The best £20 I spend every week is paying the cleaner! Dh works 80-100 hr weeks at the moment so I'd struggle to keep on top of it. She even changes our sheets, lovely!

spilttheteaagain · 14/06/2011 09:15

I told TooImmature that people were asking after her. She said she's needed to step away from this thread for now, but said:
"If you are there, will you let them know I'm doing ok (sort of, anyway!) and I hope they and their babies are all doing well?"

I have figured out some of the names now - shredding you used to be sitting didn't you? And cheese I've spotted your namechange up thread too. That feels better! Your poor DH working 80-100 hours and with a newborn at home Sad he must be wrecked, and that sounds really tough on you.

lozario she sounds lovely Smile

cherub so sorry about the mastitis it sounds awful. A friend had that and reckoned it hurt more than labour. I hope they can treat it quickly.

ckny and Catherine I am indeed intending to make the most of my early ML! I shall get off my arse shortly and have a shower and then maybe go and pick some strawberries in the sun Smile And then maybe have a nap...

I've got my birth ball out again now as I need to try and turn Madam who likes being breech. Trouble is that lolling on the sofa has a certain appeal that sitting bolt upright doesn't!

cherub59 · 14/06/2011 09:50

Split - yep the mastitis hurt more than any of my 3 labours Sad

Kpidgeon - ollie feeds for about 5 mins and empties a breast in that time. Any longer than that and he is really nuzzling to sleep

Re cleaning- likewise caved in and got a cleaner. 3 boys under 4, hubby works 60-70 hours and often away overnight.... Stil spend my life doing laundryGrin

Still battling mastitis- can't shift the lump - so worried will turn into an abscess but not nearly so painful now

shreddinghippo · 14/06/2011 10:42

Thank you Spilt for being a go-between. I can fully respect her not wanting to check in on this thread, but at the same time I would hate for her to think she was forgotten. Neither of you ever will be, I cried a lot for both of you and your babies.
Yes I was Sitting, but am attempting the 30 day shred workout (very tough!) hence the name change.

DD1 was breech and I spent many hours wiggling my bum in the air, leaning over my birth ball. To no avail! Hope your LO turns though!!
The scan then showed she had one leg up and one leg down so there was no way she could have turned anyway. I'd like to hear if you have any joy turning yours, fingers crossed.

Kpidgeon Beth feeds for max 10minutes. Again, any longer and she is not actually feeding, just sucking for comfort, and she seems to be growing out of that (thankfully) now.

me23 · 14/06/2011 11:14

It's great too hear from you spilt I've often wondered how you are, I'm glad the pregnancy is going well, don't worry about babys position it really doesn't mean anything until 36 weeks.

I had a scary evening on Saturday started having right sided abdominal pain it got so bad I had to call an ambulance I thought I was dying :-( was taken to A&E and given IV shot of morphine had test done and nothing was found and pain eventually went away.

After 12 weeks of breastfeeding Dp had to give little one formula last night, I was at hairdressers had only managed to express under 2 ozs which E had and was screaming for more do do had to go out and buy a carton of formula and he had 4 ozs of that! Must be better prepared next time.

pettyprudence · 14/06/2011 12:00

Kpidgeon Arthur feeds 20-25 mins on each side [shocked].

I keep wondering when he is going to get more efficient as I know lots of babies who feed anywhere between 5-15 mins each side (the older they are the quicker they are). Arthur keeps teasing me by being quick once in a blue moon or more recently only feeding from one side and screaming his head off at me for daring to offer the other side (or refusing the otherside until we have left the cafe and then promptly wants more as we walk home). Damn my telepathy skills for not knowing when he is going to keep changing the goal posts Grin It leaves me feeling very on edge though when we are out because I just don't know if he'll want to feed again in an hour or 3 hours Confused

oh and he always spits up massively after each feed and manages to get most of it on me!

Now I need to tackle him having a nap without a half hour screaming session first :(

sam26oscar · 14/06/2011 21:46

hello ladies, i have been extremely rude and not signed in for weeks. i have had to read thru the ante natal threads to find this one again!! Congratualations to everyone on the births of your babies!! i hope you are all settling in to a routine of sorts!! Well, i have been busy coping on my own with DH away still in Afghan, it has been quite hard on DS who is 6 and is really struggling to accept that daddy is away. On the plus side, he absolutely adores his little sister and is going someway to taking his mind of it. Cassie is now nearly 16 weeks...my god where does it go !! I remember thinking how long it took to get to 16 weeks pregnant!! I am still breastfeeding which i love!! She feeds every 2-3hrs and only for about 10 mins , she does use me as a dummy though as shes pretty crap at holding a dummy in so hence uses me sometimes to go to sleep on, She is sleeping from 7.30pm to around 4am most nights. However, she doesn't like sleeping for long during the day unless she's on me or next to me in my bed!! I will wait until she's about 8 months before i implement a strict daytime nap routine as i did with my DS.
Well, we are all off on holiday in 5 weeks to sunny spain, luckily my mum, dad and sister are all going so i'm not going to be alone!! Cassie's had her passport since she was 5 weeks old and already used it twice!! My sister used to live in Belgium but has since moved back to about 50 miles away, which i am really happy about so i can see her every week.
Anyway sorry for the long post, oh and can someone tell me about 4 month sleep regression that i have just seen on Lozarios post?? cassie's nearly 4 months now..eek..help me before it happens so i know what to expect!!
