Is everyone done the potty training? Its just not working here, now on earth are you all getting on with it?? Any tips??? xx

Scout19075 · 23/05/2012 11:46

You're having a laugh, littlepea, we haven't even thought of toilet training let alone started it. Toddler's so not ready for it. Once upon a time he'd tell me if he'd done a poo but he's stopped now. I'll ask him outright and he'll tell me "no Mommy" even though he stopped, strained and is oderific. Not too long ago I asked him if he wanted "Big Boy pants and to use the Big Boy toilet like Daddy" and he got very upset. I probably won't think about it until nearer three.

Heck, we've only last week mastered the art of staying in bed when put down for the night (though he still climbs into bed with me no matter when he wakes up, even in the middle of the night).

I can only fight one battle at a time and even that's exhausting sometimes.

Still, I would never, ever trade Toddler in for the world.

littlepea72 · 23/05/2012 15:04

I havent even put her into her own bed yet lol....but with 3 here, trying to potty train is not working! She has to be trained before Sept, or they wont have her at pre-school, oh well.....shall wait a bit longer i think lol x

HumphreysCorner · 23/05/2012 16:54

Potty training? Nah, not here either. I tried with Emma too soon and then she got it at 2 yrs 9 months, Sophie I did at 2 yrs 9 months and she did it in a week so going to leave it until at least July/August. Want Matthew trained before preschool in September but they are happy to help train. Matthew is still in his cot too.

Matthew is having some of the worst tantrums I have seen, they are worse than the ones Emma had and that was bad. Hmm Had to put him in the shopping part of the trolley today in Tescos as he was screaming to be carried and kept laying on the floor and as he can't talk still I couldn't reason with him. He made himself a little seat on the tins of cat food and used the pack of 9 toilet rolls as a backrest. Monster child!

Better press on with packing up and veg for tea. Big wave!

P.S. AF is a bit late and I feel rotten but refuse to test as I can't deal with the consequences. i.e. telling DH and my mum and dad.

OP posts:
littlepea72 · 23/05/2012 18:09

How late HC??? I always think its when you dont do the test....as in, you dont want to...thats when its happened lol! Do it!!!!! Dont tell anyone but your DH if you are, or dont tell him and let him guess! How exciting!

littlepea72 · 23/05/2012 18:11

PS....Faith is doing some major screaming with her tantrums, its terrible. I never let her out of the trolley, she would just run away! Love the idea of him making a little seat lol x

HumphreysCorner · 23/05/2012 19:12

Caved in and BFN-can't believe how disappointed I feel.

fidelma · 23/05/2012 23:26

Sad HC I was getting excited for you as I read. sadly no words to help o0ther than I love the fb pictures of your gorgeous 3.

Connor is very strong willed.Getting him to do what I want is hard going !

Infact it is hard going with all mine at the moment. Family meeting tomorrow morning !!

He also has stamina like steel ! he can go from 7am _ 9pm with no naps and still put up a good fight!Yesterday music, then the playroom (while I had a meeting) swim and hours in the garden ffs !!! I can do no more, i am on my knees.

dd1 had her first non school evening party. I was thinking it would be all alcopops and snogging but it was really tame LOL !! (only kidding about the alcopops!) she is now over 5ft 7". I am going to be the wee manny of our house !

Sun = happy = watering the garden until almost 11pm !!! (also was watering at 6.30 am) so now need to sleep .

ZZZZzzzzzzz

HumphreysCorner · 24/05/2012 08:01

Thanks all. Smile Some good has come out of this as I told DH I might be, he went pale and disappeared on the garage so that's why I did my last test (none left). When I told him it was BFN he said he had come round to the idea. So we will see what happens. I know I have 3 lovely children so am truly blessed. Smile

Time for breakfast.

Fidelma Faith doesnt sleep during the day either, she gets up at 6.30am and thats her until 8pm. She is lightening!

Lots to tell you about school etc....but will need to wait until later....xx

HumphreysCorner · 26/05/2012 09:42

So AF arrived this morning, time to move forward. Must be the weather messing it up. Hmm

Another lovely day, shame I have to clean DH's office and go to Tescos. Got to drop the DC at the PIL so need to press on so I can get finished and back home in the garden to burn again. Blush

Have a fab weekend!

Hi all, sorry to disappear again, I've picked up extra shifts at work so between that and playgroups I barely have time to catch my breath at the moment. How are you all anyway?

littlepea Potty training not going well at all here-J will sit on it for a few minutes then walk around with his foot in it for a bit before swiftly transferring it to his head and running off shouting "HAT! HAT!" I've tried stickers/reward charts, praise etc but nothing works-he will pee everywhere but in potty or toilet. I thought the hot weather this week would be an ideal time to crack it but seems not.

HC So sorry you didn't get the result you were after. I might be way off the mark here but have you ever considered fostering? There is normally a shortage of foser carers and I think you'd be great.

fidelma How did the family meeting go Wink I've got a strong willed non-napper too, it's exhausting isn't it. We were at the Chipping steam fair on Sunday, beautiful part of Lancashire. Hundreds of tractors and steam engines, Joe spent hours climbing up and down them and examining wheels. He was shattered afterwards and for once, slept like a dream that night. Grin

Life here busy but ok, dh in a general grump about work/money/life but at least I have my job now. Joe is currenly going though an acrobatic pirate phase and has mastered the art of forward rolls off the sofa whilst yelling "Arghh, ahoy!" I worry for his neck. I worry for my sanity as well, I don't know where he gets all this energy from. He really plays up for dh when I go on a Monday evening and sleeps really badly but he will get used to it won 't he? (guilty mum alert). We start a new group in the morning - singing, dancing and "organised screaming" apparently. It's so popular they have had to move it to the dinner hall to fit everyone in.

Re preschool - do you all get your free 15 hours in September? We don't until after Joe turns 3, so January. Still secretly want to homeschool Sad

Right, ironing mountain awaits. Rain forecast all day here tomorrow, I can't wait!

CalypsoFramboise · 07/06/2012 13:59

Hello everyone :)
HC oh shame for you, I know how much you've thought about another baby. I hope you come to a decision with DH soon.

HT glad that the job is going so much better than at the start :) I don't know where you get YOUR energy! Not suprised Joe's so full of life! He does sound like such a monkey Wink

Littlepea I hope that its good news about the school? Do you have a moving date yet?

scout hello :) hope you're feeling well, have you restarted the treatment yet?

fidelma has the family madness abated at all? Will never know how you manage 4 :D

potty training Annalise was ready by 2 years old and took to it ok, the nursery were really helpful, and I think being taken to the little toilets with the trained children got A quite enthusiastic about wearing pants. Saying that, when we have a falling out she does often wet herself to annoy me, so I never go anywhere without several pants! Plus I didn't want to be washing 2 lots of nappies! She still wears pull-ups to bed though, and I'm pretty fed up with hearing from my mother how my brother and I were dry all night too by 20 months and why is Annalise still wearing nappies to bed?! Grrr.

Lyra is doing ok, really vomity though but at least I know that will end by 7months. Also doing as Annalise did, dropping through the centiles - was 45th at birth, 9th centile by 2 months and probably when I weight her next at 3 months she'll be around the 2nd centile. Not bothered though, she feeds well and looks lovely and happy, def not going to get all panicked about it like I did last time. Not seeing any HV, just the lovely midwife at the breastfeeding cafe who also knows Annalise so she's v relaxed about it too. Lyra still has a hilarous cowlick hairstyle - will have to try to post her funny passport photo!
Also relieved that she's sleeping through sort of, 9:30m-5:30am so can get a decent sleep to deal with A in the day too!

Kisses to all before my laptop battery dies :) xx

HumphreysCorner · 09/06/2012 21:02

Hi all

Calypso-sounds like everything is going well. Smile DH now avoiding me, my thermometer died so don't know when I ov'd so couldn't even catch him unawares. Ho hum!

Anyhow, 'tis Euro 2012 and I love watching the matches. Bought an England top today but it is a 12 and miniscule, need to swap it for a 14.

Also reading Fifty Shades of Grey and since I started it I have seen endless women buying it and also the other 2 volumes in the trilogy. If none of you have heard of it I strongly recommend it! Shock Biscuit

Hope all OK. DH's birthday tomorrow so going to go out for tea.

still here xxx

HappyTangerine · 19/06/2012 22:43

I'm still here- I kind of left as I seemed to keep killing the thread. Just done 3x 12 hour night shifts in a row-and am now losing sense of what day it is! So incredibly busy, I get to sit down for roughly 40 mins during a shift. Bonus-I've lost almost 10lbs, partly through all the running up and down stairs.

Calypso did you enjoy Coombe?
littlepea Are you back in Ireland yet?

Hope all is well with everyone else xx

Scout19075 · 20/06/2012 06:48

I've been lurking more than posting since I don't seem to have anything interesting to say. Blush

HumphreysCorner · 20/06/2012 18:15

Hecky thump ladies, are we disbanding already???

Wanted to share that Matthew's sentences are getting longer. Me 'do you want to go to bed beds?' Matthew says 'no, blah blah blah blah bed beds' So pleased that he isn't just saying no. Grin

Sophie is 6 next Wednesday, she is having a party on the Thursday despite half the parents not even bothering to reply to the invites. Hmm Hoping to go to the Waddington Air Show the weekend after.

Big wave, don't be strangers!
