CalypsoFramboise · 24/02/2012 15:51

Hello everyone!
Just had so much going on of late, no time for leisure-webtime!
Baby due in about 3-4weeks now, b-o-r-e-d of being pg. However the sleep-apnea study for Annalise came back and the consultant was fairly alarmed at how low her O2 sat levels were falling during the night and now wants her to go to have her tonsils and adenoids out asap, which means in the next 3-4 weeks. Super timing no?

Also bit of confusion regarding growth scans of this baby - my gut feeling is that its doing just fine, but my low BMI is making my midwife anxious and I went last Monday for another growth scan but the right personnel wasn't about so I'm waiting to hear about this being rescheduled in the next week or 2. Just hoping all is within acceptable parameters so I can get A's op out of the way before the birth!

However on the good-news front; submitted my final copy of my thesis to college yesterday so now am officially Dr Calypso, phew! :o

On the HE front - are you crazy?! No way would I have the patience to stay at home with off-spring all day every day, I have no idea how anyone parents full-time! I love A lots, but enjoy working and being outside of the house with grown-ups with non-toddler chat! I see how much A loves being at nursery and her interaction with other children both older and younger gives her so much. And I know that we're really lucky to be able to afford to do that, not everyone can, but I think for A, she'd really enjoy the social side of school later too. Am in awe of those of you who want to HE :)

HT are you not planning on going back to Wales, or at least closer? And when is the 1/2 marathon, do you have a time in mind?

LittlePea Kilimanjaro? I so wanted to go for a trip that way when I was in Kenya last year! DH and I always planned our holidays around mountain walking before Annalise. Best hikiing was in S. Korea. Seriously, those Koreans know how to do brilliant moutain hiking, even saw gangs of teenage girls with spangly dresses and totally impractical shoes doing 6hr hikes up a mountain! Do keep us posted on the training :). Also fingers crossed with the school malarky, how annoying x

scout I hope that the next bout of treatment is much less fierce on your body. You seem mentally ready for it, good luck!

PPM haha yes A is in those baby bucket seats with the handle! Well, I say in it, we don't have a car, and I think Sept was the last time she used it. She's now a whopping 9.8kg so still light enough to go in it :o Still, must get organised to buy a new seat. Super to hear from you btw, glad you're doing well and back to work.

Kisses to everyone incl fidelma and HT need to collect A now from nursery and double-check on the work going on downstairs - all our downstairs furniture has been wedged in the kitchen the last 4 days as we're having all the woodwork top-coated, a job I never quite got around to doing!

princessProudmel · 25/02/2012 10:16

Calypso doesn't her head and legs hang over the ends of the car seat?!!

HappyTangerine · 25/02/2012 14:55

Dr Calypso Congratulations!GrinGrinI've been waiting to call you that for ages! Lots going on with you - poor A and her tonsils/adenoids though. Its good that they did the sleep study now and found out but bit of a shock for you. I hope she likes ice cream! I've had so many problems with tonsilitis and infection over the years that I wish I'd had mine out as a child. Wow, you're going to have a few full on weeks aren't you-fingers crossed the op is out of the way before dc2's arrival. Sending you positive vibes for the growth scan.

Half marathon not for months yet which is good as training taken a back seat to writing. Much as I'd love to move closer to Wales, we can't atm-dh's job Sad

HC Yay for Matthew and car! Grin You might like a book called Wow said the Owl-it really helped Joe's speech and lots of friends recommend it. My house is overrun with books.

All good here, I'm on a fussy eaters cookery course which is fab and inspiring. Off now before I kill the thread for anoher week again!

fidelma · 25/02/2012 23:14

Hello Grin

Sorry I havent been on....school took a nose-dive and I hid away!

Well done Dr Calypso!!!!!! Wonderful news Grin
Cant believe how busy you are going to be, dont these people know you have to relax? lol.....its always the way, and thankfully its not your first baby, at least you know what to expect, and this just might put the time in quickly! Always here for some hand holding xxx

HC well done to M, he is just doing it in his own time. Thats the bike racing season started.....happy days Grin

Fidelma Well done for keeping the BF going for this long....now its time for you to claim those puppies back for yourself!

HT what has Joe been up to.....lol

Scout have you told the scouts that you are cutting back yet?

Hi Mel

Mum & dad are over for a week.....the kids are loving it! I have really missed them.

Got such a knock back on the Special needs school, DS1 was just to bright, its was heart breaking to see some of the kids there, and even though he fitted right in, he was miles ahead on the learning part. But he loved it, he said it was calm and that he didnt feel like a crazy freak kid in there, so many tears when he heard he wasnt going. He could of went....but he wouldnt of learned enough. She we are fighting again, but have been told of 2 great schools....and we have a wonderful SEN expert helping us now....fingers crossed, or we will return back to NI, but this would mean without DH again.
Army has decided that anyone who has been in the army over 8 years, wont be getting accommadation! That will mean families apart, and god knows, thats wrong! All those kids without their fathers, and what about families who have both parents in the army.....its wrong. I hope we are out before it happens. The armed forces are falling apart, they dont care anymore, I think if we can get out, we will.

Faith has a new saying....My turn! And she would wrestle a grown man to the ground! Anyone got any tips on potty training? She is wont do it, she is to scared and I have tried so much.....nothing working. She has also asked for her room to be done in Thomas the tank engine! Ive just done it up all girlie lol....oh dear lol....

Gabe is getting big. Still a bit worried about his hearing. Not much i can do untill his 2nd hearing test is done.

Off to the gym!!!! Grin

littlepea72 · 29/02/2012 06:40

Iggly how are you? Are you getting much more sleep yet??? xx

fidelma · 29/02/2012 17:13

littlepea sad that you haven't got a school yet.Hopefully it will be worth the wait. Also what a nightmare about the accomodation.(wondering if it will affect my friend?) Having someone in the armed forces is hard enough but what are they playing at?

I am managing to slow the bf down.Pretty much just mornings now.Sad.He loves it! Also he has cried a few times about it,but leaving it any longer isn't going to get any easier.

I have had huge verbal abuse on a facebook message about something that my dd1 said at school 10 months ago.The school delt with the situation and we all learned a lesson. (dd repeated something I saidBlush)It was then twisted and changed until it was a different comment, chinese whispers!GIRLS !!! Anyway the parent of said child has gone mad to me on fb.It was so bad dh and I thought about getting a solicitor involved. However the girl left school last summer and I will never see her again. So we have decided to not respond to the woman (she seems a little unhinged!) However I have been a little upset. (she is not a friend on fb she just found me!

DH always say fb is evil!

Loving the lighter nights.

littlepea72 · 05/03/2012 09:14

Fidelma thats terrible! People like that are very good at doing it via a computer, they dont have it in them to do it face to face. Ignore her, it will get to her more than you reponding. Like you say, you will never see her again. If she continues with FB, then report her, or block her from sending you anything....what a nasty person she is Sad hope you are feeling better about it xxx

fidelma · 06/03/2012 14:21

Littlepea feeling better.I have ignored her. It gives me a little power iykwim

fidelma · 10/03/2012 21:21

DD 12 today. Where did the years go?

fidelma · 11/03/2012 11:56

"It's oh so quiet"

fidelma · 11/03/2012 11:57

dont worry I will talk to myself LOL

littlepea72 · 11/03/2012 18:25

Hi Fidelma lol.....

My In-laws have just left, havent been able to get much onto the computer.

Hope everyone is ok....Calypso are you still with us???

HappyTangerine · 11/03/2012 19:36

Hiya How is everyone?

Not much news to report here,J is being his usual merry self. Since starting to do lots of baking with me(his new favourite thing in the world) my house seems to be covered in paper cake cases. I keep finding them, and spoons in my shoes! I don't know why I ever bothered with toys. His sleep is all over the place-is there a sleep regression at this point? My family are still going on and on about whether he is talking much-I think they just expect him to answer the phone one day and talk bloody politics or something Hmm

Three weeks ago I came down with a horrendous chest infection that had me coughing up alarming amounts of blood at one point and its thrown me off kilter a bit, am feeling very down and can't get back to usual happy self. Not much energy. Better news for MIL though-urgently referred for tests due to vomiting bile. I took her to he hopital to Friday and she looked terrified, her dad had died of stomach cancer and she was thinking the worst. All fine though, tests show she has a hernia and acid reflux so she'll live to fight another day.

fidelma Happy belated birthday to your dd! Sorry to hear of your facebook troubles and very glad you blocked her! I agree with your dh about it being evil! How is giving up bf going? J still showing no signs of wanting to give up but we live in hope. I'm just feeding morning and before bed now.

littlepea Hope you had a great time with the family... any news on school? And is Faith proving to be as resistant to the potty as Joe I wonder...

DrCalypso Grin Any news of babyCalypso yet?

Hope all is well with everyone x

CalypsoFramboise · 12/03/2012 09:16

Morning everyone,
No baby as yet, am 39+1 today and Annalise turned up at 39+5. However her operation to have her tonsils and adenoids has now been scheduled for this Wednesday, so she'll be in hospital Wed-Friday. Am loosing sleep about what to do, if I should defer incase I go into labour whilst DH is staying at hospital with her, or what if baby comes the day after A gets back from hospital - she's not going to be sleeping well at all, as she'll be in pain and neither DH or I will be able to care for her 100% if I'm trying to birth the baby at home! Gah, such bad timing. Also don't want A to be wanting cuddles from me and I have to say I can't as I'm bf baby. Poor A, I so want her to be better, she gets such sore throat and cracked lips when she wakes, I just hope that this baby is late! However my mum arrives in the country tomorrow and thankfully my midwife is back off holiday today - had a few 'omg its coming!' moments last week and on Saturday night, and the baby is only 1/5 palpable so is quite engaged... Cross your fingers for me and I'll cross my legs! :)

littlepea I really hope that the school situation is getting resolved very soon, must be very frustrating to be passed back and forth x

fidelma DD1 is 12! wow, sounds so grown-up :) And congrats / commisseration on ending 12 years on and off bf, I am in awe. I expect I'll be weaning DD2 off the boob before Connor is totally done Wink

HT fully sympathy with the chest infection, so dreaded and completely incapactitating aren't they :( I love that Joe is so into baking, A just likes decorating (and eating icing!) but I promised myself I would start baking lots of yummy things once PhD is out of the way. However I just seem to have more time to clean and dust and tidy and launder. Boring! Glad MiL isn't terminally unwell.

HC iggly PPM hope you're all well and enjoying the lovely weather! 17C yesterday in the sunshine was lovely (although waddling and wincing with jabbing crotch pains and cramps sort of spoilt it a bit!)

Kisses to all, xoxoxox

fidelma · 12/03/2012 23:35

Calypso I feel for you.My only advice is that life is a long and Merry dance, this time will pass and you will all get through it.On a posiive side usually even the hardest babies sleep alot when they are just born so you may get more time than you think.Or Does A have to have the op soon? or could she wait a month?Great that your Mum is comming. x

HumphreysCorner · 13/03/2012 20:19

Hello everyone, doesn't the time fly?

Calypso-let the op go ahead as your baby will fit in whenever he/she is born. Thinking of you. xx

HT-hope you are feeling better and phewee to your MIL.

Sorry to bore but had one of Emma's friends for tea last Friday and as I was driving them to Brownies we had this conversation which I am still seething about. Friend says 'you are so posh and so rich, much richer than us' me 'bet we are not and things aren't always what they seem' friend 'you have big house, 2 cars and 2 motorbikes and a caravan' me 'cars and bikes v. old and 2 are unusable, again things not always what they seem' friend 'well tell me how it seems then you must have loads of money' me 'ask Emma how much money we don't have' friend 'well, you shouldn't have spent it all' me 'spent what?' friend 'all your money' me 'never had any money' friend 'liar, liar your pants are on fire' I was so shocked at this and didn't know how to respond but said FIL bought our caravan because we can't afford holidays abroad and he wanted to make sure our children had a holiday and a bad motorbike crash compensation helped pay to build the house. Afterwards I wondered why I was justifying my life to a 9 year old. DH said it was obvious she was repeating what her parents have said and now I am thinking they must have been discussing me when I thought she was a friend.

Anyway, all well here. Matthew now says bis for bus and bis for biscuit and bis for bricks. Grin He will get there....

Have E-mailed a preschool so will have to bite the bullet and ring and go and look round it.

Big wave to everyone. Smile

HC Terrible manners that 9 year old has, what's the matter with her that she doesn't know when to stop talking? Also remember (as I have learnt) children often get the wrong end of the stick iykwim. Her dm may not of been saying it quite like that.Enjoy being rich !!!!!!!! LOL

Connor this morning "Mummy I can't see my ears, But I can see yours !" cute, que time looking in the mirror . He has been quite sick with some virus so ended up feeding him again loads. (after all my hard work to almost stop) I will stop feeding him soon Confused

Also putting in his form for pre pre school. I think I will do 3 mornings but be flexible. (For example nice weather etc.)

HappyTangerine · 14/03/2012 19:50

Calypso Have been thinking of you and Annalise all day. If she had the op, hope it all went well and you are all ok. Big kiss to her from us. Hope you are resting and not overdoing it.

HC Shock Blimey, what a precocious little "friend", poor you having to listen to all that in the car. The recession seems to be making some people more open with their sneering envy of other people, you see it a lot around here. Forget her parents, life is to short to worry about what other people think of you.

Fidelma Aww, Connor is such a sweetie.-grin] Glad he is on the mend

I started applying for jobs last night-eek. We really need the money and it struck me that I could get the experience I need to apply for social work by actually being in paid employment as well as voluntary work. Am quite excited!

Joe is fast alseep(yay, early!) and laughing merrily away at something in his sleep. Always a sign of a good day!

fidelma · 16/03/2012 06:55

some days I bounce out of bed :)
But some I seem to crawl :(

Crawling today :(

Iggly · 16/03/2012 07:01

Calypso! nearly due Shock

I'll come back later today once I'm on the PC. Am barely surviving - little sleep, reflux baby with tongue tie (now snipped) etc.

I want to read up on all you ladies so will do that today!

littlepea72 · 16/03/2012 07:22

Morning!!!

Such a great day.....DH is going away for a week, cant wait Grin

Calypso did she get the op? If so, then I hope all went well. Take it easy, you are on countdown now Smile

Fidelma big hugs xx

HC what a wee cow! LOL....I would of just told her we were very rich lol....she must of heard her parents talking, no way could a child of that age, see all you had. If you see her parents, ask them if there is any more info you can give them!
My friend was telling us about her wee girls new friend, the mother had asked her over for a coffee. She arrived at this massive house, everything in it was beautiful, and a big discovery 4 outside. She said this family was rich rich rich!! She said it was a house of your dreams. They got round to talking about the house and the woman had told my friend they built the house. It had taken them 15 years to build it, and then do it up, she said people always wanted to know her or said nasty things about her because the house was so big, and they all thought they were so rich....turns out they worked there asses off, never had anything, no holiday etc, just so they could finish the house. They had a run down old car, the discovery was her MIL's which she had used when her car was broken down. Just shows, nothing is always how it seems.

HT what jobs have you applied for? I would love to go back to work Smile

Still waiting to hear about school. DH went to see the headteacher at one on Tuesday, its 40 mins drive away, but DS1 would get a taxi and an escort every day. This school is great, it has the SEN unit attacted to the mainstream, he said everyone was lovely and there was nothing bad about the school at all. They are full, but have been asked to make room, so just waiting to see if they will take him. They are worried that he is so far behind, but if they dont take him, then he will get even further. Fingers crossed that we find out next week.....

Faith is the devil child! She lives to get upto no good lol....

Gabe is still getting up everymoring at 4am. Terrible lol...If i hear another person asking me why he doesnt walk, crawl, pull himself up, eat finger foods, clap his hands or wave....i'll scream! He is the most laid-back child ever. And is so happy to just watch. But because other peoples (their little ones are either 7-11 months) little ones are doing all these things, they think something is wrong with Gabe! Hes in no rush, neither an I lol.....

Right better go....devil girl will be up soon, I need a stronge coffee lol

Hi to Scout Iggly & Mel

HappyTangerine · 16/03/2012 20:39

Pmsl at littlepea rejoicing that dh is going away for a week GrinGrin. School news sounds ever so positive, fingers crossed. Lol at Faith's nickname, she sounds adoringly mischevous. Sorry to hear you've become a victim of why isn't your child walking/talking/reciting Shakespere/dancing a jig syndrome. Tell them he doesn't perform to an audience! Jobs I've applied for are in care (so I can get the 300 hours experience I need to do the social work & children's nursing degree) and an estate agency-sales again but if it brings in some money I'll do it.

fidelma Big hugs from me too, hope the weekend gives you a little bit of respite.

Hi to Iggly So sorry you're having such a tough time

DrCalypso Still thinking of you and sending positive vibes

Joe SO wants a dog. He's not remotely interested in the swings and slides at the park at the moment, just wants to chase and throw sticks for dogs. Wish our mad Border Collie was still with us Sad. Dh says no dog until J is 4.

Am really nervous about the Grand Slam tomorrow. Will dress J in his Welsh rugby shirt, bound to annoy dh and SIL Grin. When Wales won the triple crown a few weeks ago there was much rejoicing on my part-er, unfortunately Joe decided to copy my song of "We won, we won" repeated many times whilst running around the room like a little Tasmanian devil on speed (him, not me!) and it took ages to settle him that night. So I have to show some restraint in my support tomorrow (yeah right!).

Big wave to HC Scout Mel and any lurkers
