Time to start planning the Birmingham Meet Up!

Who's with me?

Preferences and musings on weekday v weekend, whether this is a day trip or a cottage and is February doable or April more realistic?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MissPenteuth · 31/03/2011 19:36

Ooh, I've been thinking of going up to Edinburgh in August too, maybe I can arrange it around a meet-up :)

slimmingsarahandco · 01/04/2011 09:57

so do we have a plan in place> is everyone just sorting their own picnic?

is the plan still 12-30 at brindley place?

MissPenteuth · 01/04/2011 12:33

12.30 at Brindley Place sounds fine; should we name a specific spot (can't remember how big Brindley Place is)? I'm happy to bring food but it might be trickier for people coming by train. Is there somewhere to buy sandwiches or something nearby if needs be? Also, is there somewhere we can eat a picnic indoors if it rains ?

SiameseCatWoman · 01/04/2011 12:35

12.30 is what I'm aiming for, if fliss is guiding me and Sariska. If not, who knows?? ;)

I'm going to bring picnic ( train is 2 and 1/2 hours - I'll try not to munch it beforehand!!) and extra for sharing. DH not around to make cake :( so I'll endeavour to throw something anti -shred together myself!!

MissPenteuth · 01/04/2011 12:57

OK, I'll bring picnic food then, and I can bring a blanket and playmat for the LOs, maybe a few toys. Anything else, seeing as I'll have the car? I'll be going to the supermarket this afternoon if there are any requests.

slimmingsarahandco · 01/04/2011 14:46

hi all have had an email from ICWAS- she cannot access mn! :( and asked me to pass on a message, Brindly place for half 12- sea life centre if wet!

she also suggested everyone bring something along- to share for picnic not sure if its too late to sort out who brings what etc, i think i will just chuck some bits and bobs together! i will also bring the car with toys etc!

so excited! very much looking forward to seeing you all x

Sariska · 01/04/2011 14:50

Am not 100% sure yet but I may be going to have to give it a miss. Illness has struck again - well, did a week ago to be accurate but is not improving. It's me this time, not the DC: a cold that has turned into a sinus and ear infection. Am currently fairly deaf, sinuses hurt (a lot) and now feel temperature-y. Wish I wasn't sat at work right now Sad.

Anyway, will make a final decision tomorrow. If I am coming, I will FB siamese and Fliss - and I'll be on a train that gets in at 11.52. No doubt we will be recognisable by the swim pants (or, possibly, if I have my way, by a toy lion in a stripey jumper).

SiameseCatWoman · 01/04/2011 15:17

Fingers crossed Sariska you feel better tomorrow. Have you tried a sinus spray? I find them really effective, I have chronic sinusitis 6 times a yr or so..!

slimmingsarahandco · 01/04/2011 16:04

Hi all-

just back from tesco- i have bought

Couple of quiche, cheese and onion, quiche lorraine!

some saus rolls and mini savory eggs.

box t-bags, jar coffee, some milk, sweetners, will bring a few flasks of hot water and as many cups as i can find! lol.

hope thats ok for everyone, will pop it all in the cool box in the car!

Sariska- hope your better and are able to make it!

RubyLovesMayMay · 01/04/2011 16:47

Hi Guys! Is this an exclusive meet or is it okay if I tag along? Just stumbled upon this thread and think it might be just what I need.

I've only lived in Birmingham 2 and a bit years so could do with meeting some new faces.

I lurk on here alot but hardly ever post. Im 25, have DD (1 yr old) DH's is out with his Dad in the day tomorrow and I was just wondering what we could do on Saturday.

Im just loggin off the computer at work but will log in at home to find out details of where and when, if you'll let me Blush

MissPenteuth · 01/04/2011 18:56

sarah you're a legend. My shopping attempt was thwarted by me leaving the house without my keys, so instead of hitting Waitrose I had to get the tube halfway into town to get DH's keys Blush and rush home in time for Izzy's bottle. I have the makings of cheese or ham sandwiches in the house though, and some Viennese whirl bisuity things. I can nip up to Sainsbury's after tea though, could get some crisps and squash?

Ruby as far as I'm concerned you're more than welcome to join us. In case it wasn't obvious we're all from the March 2010 postnatal thread, so we have 1-year-olds too. Quite a few of us are coming from outside Birmingham, but there will be a couple of 'natives' too. We're meeting at Brindley Place for lunch at 12.30, picnicking outside if it's nice. I can PM you my mobile number if you like?

Sariska hope you feel better by tomorrow :)

slimmingsarahandco · 01/04/2011 19:03

MissP- Dont know about legend control freak more like! lol! Car will be full with toys etc so kids will be happy too ( i hope)

The more the merrier i say

SiameseCatWoman · 01/04/2011 19:04

Am making olive bread rolls and carrot cake. Kitchen smells amazing. Have not thought how I will transport carrot cake, so it maybe without topping, apologies in advance for lack of delicious fattening creamy topping.

Weather now looks sucky. I wish they'd make their minds up!

MissPenteuth · 01/04/2011 19:20

I'll bring some sandwiches, crisps, biscuits and squash (and cups). Not as impressive as homemade rolls or cake, obviously (you can have legendary status as well Siamese).

RubyLovesMayMay · 01/04/2011 19:50

MissPenteuth sounds like a plan. Picnic is a great idea as I'm a bit on the skint side. Will try and make a little cake or something if I have enough ingredients. Where abouts in Brindley Place we meeting? PM me your number please.
