bec

Toby sounds sooooooooo cute!

N walks up to me and lifts up his shirt, rubs his belly. Then he turns around to make me smell his bum. Then he leads me to the potty so I can help him on.

Becaroooo · 05/03/2011 17:41
Grin

Thats pretty hilarious eandz N sounds so much fun Smile

Toby thinks its hilarious to announce when he farts (he calls it "trumping")

T: "mummy, I trumped!!!" accompanied by huge grin....very cute unless done in the middle of a packed supermarket Smile

Maybe its a boy thing?????

eandz · 05/03/2011 18:56

hahaha! Aww, Toby is soo the little man! I do have to admit, N is pretty gleeful over louder farts. He also makes farting noises at people/animals when he's in the mood.

notcitrus · 05/03/2011 21:13

Heh - A will tell me "I'm busy pooing!" and sometimes look up from bending over the coffee table to announce that "Pooing is very hard work!" But doesn't see why having done a poo is any reason for a new nappy.
Whereas he gets grumpy if his clothes get wet if I haven't noticed, but doesn't seem to realise why he feels out of sorts.

He's got some red dots on his face which I really hope are just rash from a different brand of babywipe (he had snot stuck on his face which I was desperately trying to get off before Grandma saw him today. I failed.), and not scarlet fever which seems to be going round including at nursery...

Becaroooo · 05/03/2011 21:17

ooohh hope its not NC

DebiTheScot · 05/03/2011 22:03

I have a poorly boy I think. He slept till 9.30 this morn and even then didn't really want to get up but had a sore bum from a very runny poo. Has done several more during the day and is screaming in pain when we change his nappy which makes me want to cry Sad I'm sure he'll be sick by the morning and then we'll all get it, boo!

Becaroooo · 06/03/2011 08:25

debi Sad Poor little man - and poor you too. Hope it doesnt get any worse x Have you got any dioralyte in?

Meglet · 06/03/2011 11:24

bookmarking...

DebiTheScot · 06/03/2011 14:59

Well he hasn't been sick and hasn't pooed yet today so maybe it was just the runs. He's also got a horrible cough but is on better form today. Slept till 9am which should help. Has been pretty good at drinking water so not worried about dehydration.

eandz · 06/03/2011 18:57

:) yay! Looks like your worry scared away the sickness bug!

Debs75 · 07/03/2011 13:39

Robyn now has conjunctivitus and looks like she has been trying to glue her eyes shut. She hates it when you go near her face so we have been trying to sneakily wipe the crusty bits away. Have found that if she cries first they are easier to remove so we just told her she could not watch Dora so that she cried for a few minutes. We now have clean face and a happy child watching Dora. Am getting her some meds on the minor ailment scheme when I go to the shops later. Does she have to stay off nursery whilst she is still gunky?

My cousin has just posted on FB that she is getting married next August Bank Holiday so time to start saving up for a little holiday. It is all the way down in Hampshire so a big 5+ hour drive for us so we want to turn it into a few nights away. At least the kids will be older then, 16, 14, 4 and 2.

GOD I feel so old.

Meglet · 07/03/2011 14:00

debs The dc's nursery doesn't let children with conjunctivis go in.

My house is nice and quiet, the dc's are out with my step-mum...... so I'm on the sofa with a Brew looking at the mess on the living room floor and thinking about making cheesy leek & pasta bake and labelling stuff for the NCT sale this weekend. Think I need some loud music to get me going.

Debs75 · 07/03/2011 14:32

I didn't think they would. Oh well another day off to spend with mummy. Yay.
I wish I had a Brew and then I could sit back and watch dp tidy our house for yet another Social Worker visit.

notcitrus · 07/03/2011 16:22

bec - was worried about a shivery A on the train, who then got huge pink flushed cheeks - really obvious compared to all the other toddlers at the Transport Museum. But then I took his coat off despite protests, and concluded any child with that much energy to bounce around and giggle had to be healthy and just have had a lousy cold.

So much energy, in fact, that at one point he legged it and was nowhere to be found for possibly the most scary 15 min of my life, as it took forever to even find any staff to help find him. Fortunately the cafe guy told me to go to the main entrance where a lovely chap calmly put out a radio message for all staff to look for him, and about 30 seconds later heard back that he had been retrieved from examining train wheels two floors up, just as SIL was getting there. I keep telling people that A's good nature and general willingness to stay nearby and not run away is deceiving but they never believe me!

Is this a rite of passage for parents of toddlers?

Meglet · 07/03/2011 17:00

Good to hear the staff were able to deal with it.

It hasn't happened to me yet. I'm scared just thinking about it, as it will happen one day.

Becaroooo · 07/03/2011 17:06

NC OH MY GOD!!! Are you ok??? Little monkey Grin Toby is just the same! He looks so angelic - people dont believe me that he can be such a handful!

The reception teacher stopped me in the playground this morning and asked Toby if he was looking forward to coming to school in Sept Shock Erm...no. He's 2.5! She looked a bit shocked to say the least Smile

Am feeling so tired today Toby is having mashed potato, carrots and brocolli for tea and dh and ds1 are having pizza Blush

Apple strudel and whipped cream for pud though Grin

CappuccinoCarrie · 07/03/2011 18:34

debs LOL at your Dora story, needs must and if it serves a medical purpose...!

NC you poor thing, hope you can have a strong drink and recover from your ordeal.

bec my kids are having the same tea as yours...plus sausages...mmm healthy salty processed meat.

Totally lacking motivation today, full of can't-be-bothered. Yawn.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/03/2011 20:14

Blimey NC, I would have gone into a total tailspin. Glad to hear he is ok.

We see to have had a break through with poo's on the potty/toilet - at last. All poo's over the weekend were done in a potty or toilet. Hurrah, hurah, hurrah.

Did you do your tickets for the NCT sale Meglet? I got mine today and need to start thinking about what I am going to sell.

notcitrus · 07/03/2011 22:48

thanks for sympathy - once the staff were looking for him I calmed down as they could assure me no toddler had left the building and I was pretty sure he was hiding in the top deck of a bus where you're not supposed to go (he'd done that twice already) a few minutes later after ds had tried legging it again we shoved both of them in pushchairs and left for icecream (have his stonking cold and shouting lots didn't help the throat). He was asleep in a minute!

He did have a mini milk, prawn crackers and milk for tea while I gibbered on the sofa...

Will have stiff drink at some point but currently trying to sort work out (HR are trying to force me to take a crap post, that more to the point I'd be crap at), feel like death warmed up with cold, and for extra joy my SPD has come back to keep me awake, which I think is a bit much if I'm not even bloody pregnant!

Meglet · 07/03/2011 23:09

iltmimi I've done most of my labels. All the toys and clothes are done. Only the shoes (which need a jolly good scrub) and the booster seat (which needs hosing down). I think I've under-priced it so it should sell. Can't be bothered with e-bay, much rather shift it at the sale.

Did everyone else have lots of sunshine today or was it just down south? The dc's spent most of the day outside so they had rosy cheeks at bedtime.

I'm procrastinating as I have to type out a request to my boss to reduce my hours to 16 hours (currently 19, but was 21 when I started 10 months ago). We're so on top of things at work as we're such a good little team and I'd rather lose 3 hours pay but get another 3 hours to catch up at home. Then I need to ask if I can change my hours to 4 hours a day (4 days a week) come September so I can take DS to school and I have to ask about unpaid parental leave for summer hols. Heaven knows what he will say, poor bloke will probably be cursing me. I just need to work the minimum hours I can as I'm struggling Sad, I'm just not allowed to work less than 16 hours as I won't get tax credits (and we won't eat).

Debs75 · 08/03/2011 12:03

NC I 'lost' both of my elder DC's when they were little.
DD was looking at books with me in WHSmith and we just managed to lose each other down an aisle. I panicked got a security guard and 2 mins later she was found by the entrance.
DS sneaked out of a friends house when another friend was leaving. He followed her 3 doors down to her house where she told him to go back homeAngry He was 18 months old WTF was she thinking? We noticed he was gone after about 10 mins or so and we had called the police and the helicopter was out looking for him when the local butcher found him wandering towards a main road. I was in pieces when they brought him back.
Touch wood I haven't lost these 2 yet.

Meglet how do you get to sell stuff at an NCT sale. I have tons of clothes and stuff thast needs getting rid of.

eandz · 08/03/2011 12:26

Debs

an adult told your 18 month old to go back home?!

Debs75 · 08/03/2011 12:43

Yes Eandz she was a slightly unhinged woman who starved her own child so he could be hospitalized for 'refusing' food. He never refused food if we fed him but she was so angry when she fed him that he played up and if he went 30 seconds without eating something she threw it away. He is now 13 and looks anorexic and is still in and out of hospital with digestive problems.

eandz · 08/03/2011 12:46

oh wow. i hope he gets good emotional support.

CappuccinoCarrie · 08/03/2011 15:25

All these lost children stories are giving me palpatations! I can't believe anyone would tell and 18mo to just 'go home'! I lost DD in the large soft play a while back. I knew she couldn't have left, but still didn't know where she was for such a long time, and I ended up so panicked that I couldn't actually look properly as I was in such a tizz. I lost her in a playground last summer - another friend was with her and her own DD, when I went over to see how they were doing (I had been with DS) my friend said DD had gone off to play somewhere else. She thought I was chilled for letting my child roam free, I was Angry beyond belief because as far as I was concerned the friend was looking after her. Oooh even the memory makes me cross, should forgive her and move on!
Have promised the DCs an afternoon of painting today. Clearly this is going well as I'm on MN and they're watching Tractor Ted Confused
