Shiny new thread for Christmas!

So sorry to hear Robyn is poorly Debs What a star your dp is. It's so hard when they're ill. C sleeps through anything, even the smoke alarm going off by accident didn't wake her. But if she coughs, she just coughs and coughs and doesn't wake so we have to just sit and listen, which is hard.

Nice to see your name back star

Have to say, the way I'm feeling today, I'll be in my pjs with C at 7! Am soooooo shattered. No idea why, went to bed on time last night but just want to sleep today (but can't!)

Meglet · 30/01/2011 14:12

Good work from your DP debs. Lets hope the GP's can give her something to perk her up. Hope you have a better night tonight.

The DC's were sent into the garden after breakfast to get some sunshine, it's gorgeous down here today. Their main source of amusement was letting water out of the water butt to make huge puddles on the patio then jumping in them. I had time to do chores in peace for a whole hour Smile.

They're napping at the moment, I will have to get them up soon so we can go for a walk in the sunshine - want to make the most of it.

RMCW · 30/01/2011 15:35

So sorry to hear R is so poorly...hope she imrpoves x

Well, 2 viewings of our house today so have been scrubbing floors and putting plastic crap toys away.

We have viewed 2 houses but they werent for us (too much needed doing to them)

Lovely sunshines but VERY cold

I know - 31 weeks! It feels like it's gone pretty fast, but now that there's pain involved the time has s l o w e d d o w n lots, to make sure I am able to appreciate every moment of suffering Grin

Wedding planning is coming along pretty well, although still can't imagine how I'm going to be ready to get married 16 weeks after a CS!

CS pencilled in for approximately 39 weeks, but no date confirmed so far. I think I've got consultant appt when I'm about 35/36 weeks to get actual date.

Nursery - we've just found one for T to start (in three weeks! eek!), so I'm not exactly an expert, but I'd go with whoever said to go and have another chat and see if your concerns are reinforced or go away. Nursery we've picked is montessori and seems v lovely - mainly because they get to go in and and out pretty much as they choose (as long as they put coats etc on), and T loves being outside. I'm hoping to meet some more slightly alternative parents to socialise with, as DP and I are finding ourselves more and more 'the hippy family' among the people we know. Who'd have thought? Me, who read Gina cover to cover three times before giving birth?! Grin

Meglet · 31/01/2011 10:02

....and the spreadsheets hopefully. Don't forget the spreadsheets Wink.

Do you have a wedding / new baby spreadsheet?

CappuccinoCarrie · 31/01/2011 14:04

hopefully you know we're all desperate to embrace your wedding planning when it gets too much for you! People I know who've had elective sections have been fine surprisingly quickly after the surgery. Having not lost nights of sleep in labour, and being in control of it all, means you should recover in uber quickly for the wedding, you'll be fine!

RealMumsloveCakeandWine how did the house viewings go...any offers yet?

OP posts:
RMCW · 31/01/2011 14:34

hahahahahaha...that is great carrie Smile sigh...you are going to regret asking me!!! Grin Have had a lot of interest (which surprised me at this time of year tbh) but no offers yet.

However, looks like we wont be going anywhere Sad

Dh came home from work on friday early. He looked pretty upset but I made him a coffee and we chatted about nothing for a while.

Dh has been under a lot of stress with work last year and began to not enjoy it...he was working late (which made me cross as he doesnt get overtime) was having to take phonecalls at home at stupid o clock and was obviously under lots of pressure.

Short story is that he was called into the MDs office on friday and told that the production directors job (which dh was promised) is going to another guy (who licks the arse of the chairman).

I was gutted for him. He has worked at this company since he was 16. He worked and went to uni at the same time to get his degree. He works so hard. He wont lick the chairmans arse so he isnt getting the job.

HOWEVER he doesnt really want it! I think the last few months of last year he really started wondering if he wanted to be in the job anymore. So much hassle.

The MD (who by all accounts is very upset at this) has offered dh a job as sales and marketing manager (to replace a guy who is retiring next year) and dh is going to take it. Its a big step for him as he has been in shop floor engineering for 19 years but its same salary/package etc. It will mean that he will be travelling more - which I hate the thought of - but he loves it so I am keeping my mouth shut!

I really dont think he needs the added stress of moving on top of that.

Oh well.

hopefullyDo let us know if there is anything you need help with! My dsis had a ELCS with youngest nephew and she was up a ladder cleaning her windows 4 weeks after! (she is a bit odd though) Smile

Dh should have spoken to the MD today so will know more later.....just feel so sorry for him. I know he didnt want the job but its such a shitty way to treat people. The MD called him in the office and by the time he had come out the announcements of this guys promotion had gone up all over the factory Sad

I think he feels that sales will be another string to his bow and if things dont work out he will leave.

Sorry for the downer post.....am starting to think I am doomed to stay here forever! Smile

Debs75 · 01/02/2011 10:06

Robyn is a bit better now. She is on steroids for the wheezing, again. and can now breathe. She is very snotty still but definitely on the mend.

hopefully my friens who had an ELCS was up and about a lot quicker then friend who had an emergency. You'll be fine for the wedding.

RMCW Pity about the job news and the house move

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 01/02/2011 11:02

*Hopefully, you'll be fine with cs. At least you'll know exactly when new ds/dd will arrive!
I was in the shower 12 hrs after my em cs and back driving after 4 weeks.
It can be hard cos you have newborn plus major surgery recovery and no sympathy as everyone coos over bab. I found pulling off the surgical tape over the wound in the shower after a day or so (as advised) was quite horrific, as was the first poo (hold your tummy as you push TMI!!_)
But - there's no stinging when you wee :)

CappuccinoCarrie · 01/02/2011 13:17

Oh bec so :( about jobs and house (not) moves. Have a packet of Biscuit on us!
debs glad Robyn is getting better, poor love.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 01/02/2011 14:56

Oh dear RMCW, sounds like you're all having a rough time at the moment.

How's it going Carrie ? Not too long until DH is back

Glad to hear R is feeling better debs Smile

I don't remember tape over my wound after having ds1, there must have been something there though mustn't there?! I'm sure I have a selective memory Hmm

Pre-school still going well for ds. He is loving it, and apart from a few minor incidents he has been getting on really well. It makes me very happy that he loves it so much, especially as I was unsure whether I was doing the right thing sending him when he was so young.

CappuccinoCarrie · 01/02/2011 15:01

Well ILTMIMI I am getting very excited about having my boy back in 48 hours! Can't believe its been over a week since I've seen him :( We've chatted a lot on skype, well he larks around and makes the kids laugh, but at least its some sort of contact! I'm soooo excited about having lie-ins this weekend!
Someone guessed I was pg today based purely on the visit the boob fairy has paid Blush. I'm 12 weeks at the end of this week, which means I'll finally be allowed to phone and book my scan at long last.

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 01/02/2011 18:14

12 weeks already? wow! Can't believe you have to phone and book your own scan though, do you have to do the actual scan as well? Grin

CappuccinoCarrie · 01/02/2011 18:37

Ha ha. yes the system here is you book in with the community midwife, they send your notes to the hospital (there's just one hospital in the city so its all centralised) and once you're 'in the system' you can phone and book your scan. Its a notoriously difficult number to get through on, so I'm starting 2 days before I'm 'allowed' to phone to get a few extra chances in!

Things you never thought you'd hear your 2yo say #58 "I'll get undressed when I've finished emailing the zingzillas"
Funny boy!

RMCW · 01/02/2011 18:42

carrie Thats so funny Smile

12 weeks already? Wow, thats gone fast (not for you I'm sure!) Hope you and dh have a lovely reunion Smile

Am starting to think I am a bit odd - I seem to fancy just about EVERYONE on TV and film (apart from Jeremy clarkson and antony head)

hmm....maybe its the early menopause Hmm

Meglet · 01/02/2011 18:52

bookmarking. Off to put my chicken-poxy children off to bed then I'll be back.

Star some of my baby cafe friends live in a similar 'sure start' area and their LOs get nursery provision from 2. As we live 3 miles up the road we are deemed not worthy and whilst we'll get the funding in sept, we won't get a pre-school place till sept 2012!

RMCW hope things sort themselves out with your house and DH's job.

I'm also on 2ww - af due saturday. No symptoms at all except extreme tiredness but think that's just normal! Grin

Oh those of you on fb, I have just posted v cute video of C from tonight.

CappuccinoCarrie · 01/02/2011 22:04

RMCW did you see OBEM last night? You'd have loved the male midwife, I would very happily have him as my midwife!
starlight and mrsa eeeeeek for the 2ww, keep us posted!
The airport DH should fly back from tomorrow night, has been shut until tomorrow lunchtime due to a snow/ice storm that's on the move. I just don't know what I'll do if he doesn't come back on Thurs, yet again I've realised just how much I miss him (and I'm knackered and was really banking on the 3 lie-ins I'll get this weekend!!). Trying to hold it together and not cry. Will have to stop telling the DCs how many sleeps til daddy's back, in case its not correct...

Meglet · 01/02/2011 22:15

mrsa Just seen it! Grin. Beautifully performed!

digitalgirl · 01/02/2011 23:26

I got a bfp ladies! Am only 10-12dpo and shouldn't be announcing it all over mn but have decided to enjoy this pg from day one even if it is short-lived.

Seeing recurrent miscarriage consultant in two weeks to go over my test results and hopefully discuss plan of care. Meanwhile I'll be the schizo in the corner jumping from mad happy to jaded veteran.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/02/2011 09:03

GREAT NEWS Digi Smile Am so very happy for you Smile

Good luck to Starlight and MrsA, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

Have both kids got CP Meglet? Shock

ninjinglebells · 02/02/2011 10:06

Congrats Digi keeping my fingers crossed :)

RMCW · 02/02/2011 10:17

whoo hooo DG Keeping everything crossed for you x That news has cheered me up no end Smile

carrie oh thats such a shame...is he in the US then? I watch OBEM on catch up so will probably not see it til friday. I wouldnt have minded a male MW at all. As long as they got the bloody baby OUT I would have been happy Grin

mrsa and star also keeping my fingers crossed for both of you x

Thanks you for the sympathy ladies. Am trying to see the positive sides of this....dh seems less stressed already and seems positive about moving roles. re: the house, its a lovely house. Its just not in the "right" location IYSWIM? I think I need to stop stressing about petrol prices and worrying what we will do if my car suddenly starts playing up. Buses not a posibility as they dont run at the right time and I cant car pool as no one else from this village goes to that school Sad

Hey ho.

I am stressing about things I cant control/change which is daft....we are going to lose out Tax credits from april this year and our CB from 2013 which means I will need to get a PT job of some sort, but what?????

We will also have to pay for Tobys pre school sessions in when he starts as his entitlement doesnt come into effect til january next year.

Now would be a good time to train to do something job wise but I have no idea what. I have always worked in offices/admin. Not sure I want to do that again.

Any ideas oh wise MN ladies???????? Grin I would love to start up my OU degree again but that seems a bit frivolous as I was only doing it for my own enjoyment.

sigh........just seem to be going round in circles atm.

You know what I would like to do? I would like to be a midwife. maybe that why I enjoy OBEM so much!

Debs75 · 02/02/2011 12:29

Watched the 1st 2 episodes of OBEM last night and was in tears. That young dad who cried at his baby made me blub. And then the sister who was sick whilst her sis had an internal had me in stitches. every time a baby is born I get all teary.
RMCW I would like to be a MW as well. After DS was born it was going to be my chosen career path but with the Autism it got pushed back. If I start training when Lucy is 3(2and a half years) then I should be qualified and working for a year before he leaves school. Hopefully DP will be good enough at the househusbandary to cope with 2 girls at primary school and a hormonal 19 year old.

2nd morning at Nursery and Robyn enjoyed herself immensely. She wa abit reluctant for me to go but she soon settled and was over the moon that Daddy picked her up. He did however manage to break the security door getting out so they were stuck for a few minutes whilst we tried to buzz them through. Robyn had her face pushed upto the glass shouting for me.
