New thread cos we've nearly filled the last one!

I'd mix the filling in and use heaped spoons.

I did a couple of classes with L but did loads of signing at home. It was brilliant and I fully recommend it, she was 'chatting' very early on and now I can tell her off from the other side of the room without speaking a word Grin

Afternoon ladies :)

Hope everyone had a lovely valentines day, did you all get spoiled? Sadly my dh is very ill but still had a lovely day cos he's not in hospital anymore!

chulita think I'll steal the tip of giving pear etc too as Corey adores banana but he too is sometimes rather constipated. Can chicken fillets clog you up too? Cos he does eat this quite often.

Love to you all, will catch up again later - my little horrors have just come home from school :) xx

CherryPie3 · 15/02/2011 16:28

Oh and vix I hope Alex sleeps better for you tonight - you must be exhausted xxx

LCRLCR · 15/02/2011 16:31

Hi everybody, sorry we've been so quiet but life these days is just a merry-go-round of pureeing, spooing, cleaning up and oooooohhh the nappies! I started introducing solids 2 weeks ago when S was 23 weeks and I'm glad we waited as she is loving her food and I think she was more than ready for it. Her breast feeds have dropped considerably though, I reckon she feeds about half the time that she used to so I'm expressing lots to get it mixed into her food where possible. It's made no difference to her sleep though and we still have 3 - 4 wake ups in the night. I long for more sleep but for now, am mostly happy to go with it and plan to sort it out before I have to go back to work (July).

marzi we went to a free Sing & Sign intro class today and it was ok. We've been spoiled by Baby Sensory which is just fantastic, really colourful, fun and creative - S just loves it - so Sng & Sign was a little pedestrian in comparison. However having said that. I love the theory behind it and like chulita says, it's a really good way to communicate with the LOs so I reckon we'll sign up to a course.

Anyone got any teeth out there yet?

vix206 · 15/02/2011 16:38

I added more water yesterday to his food and the result was quite explosive!! So much poo! Lol

I am so exhausted today but Alex is full of beans, I don't know how he copes on so little sleep!

CherryPie3 · 15/02/2011 18:24

Grin vix!! C has been quite loose today (he likes to keep me on my toes!) so I have just given him some scrambled eggs which he adored!!! I didn't give him much, only made it up with one egg but he gobbled it :) bless him!

Think I'm gonna try expressing some breast milk tomorrow as I have a long dental appointment to attend for a new crown fitting :( and :). This will mean my dh or dsis will have a bottle of milk handy just in case - the only problem is we've never tried him with a bottle at all. Fun and games methinks!! Hopefully it won't be needed!

LCR no teeth here yet. Think I have a lazy boy tho cos he refuses to sit up on his own for longer than a minute or so, he also isn't a fan of rolling over - he's done it but would much rather lay on his side! Little monkey :)

xxxx

girlsyearapart · 16/02/2011 04:03

Hello all
Cherry- hope your Dh is better soon. Did I miss you posting about him going into hospital??
Our valentines was good, dh took my not subtle hint and bought me some perfume.
He usually plays footie on a monday but had to cancel as lots of his mates were out being romantic! He wasnt impressed but my gain as went to aerobics as he was home for once.

Had Thai take away after though.. ( in my defence I also did morning LBT class and two classes Tuesday night to make up !)

Marzi - I did singing hands with dd 1 which we really enjoyed, she just liked the singing really though I have friends who have really gone down the signing route and benefitted from it.

I am doing cry it out / controlled crying with T at night. Can't cope with constant night waking for no apparent reason.
Seems to have knocked the evening wake up on the head and have had 7-3/4 every night for past 5.

Little bit of crying or growly grizzling then I put her dummy in after 5 min then 10 if she carries on and back to sleep.

Anything after 6 is morning.

CherryPie3 · 16/02/2011 09:54

Girls I don't think I did post it on this thread about dh being in hospital, it was on my fb and on the health section here. He's getting a little bit better everyday :) and he should be ok to go back to work in a couple/few weeks!!
Glad you had a nice valentines day :)

Wrt singing/signing - When dd and ds1 were small I didnt even know about it until we saw it on Something Special/Mr Tumble!! We loved it from then on!!

CherryPie3 · 16/02/2011 12:23

At the dentist now.....just realised that I have forgotten to express some milk for C!! Hope he'll be ok, have told dh to give him some cooled boiled water if he starts to fuss. He was fed from both boobs about half hour before I left so he should be ok!

What a silly sausage I am Grin

CherryPie3 · 16/02/2011 12:25

Ooooh have just spotted the Brew

Could murder a cuppa right now but don't think I'll be allowed for a few hours yet - I'm not sure if they have to numb my mouth or not :( o hope not!!

neenz · 16/02/2011 12:44

Cherry what are you like forgetting to express milk. Third child syndrome! I had that the other day - Daniel has now rolled over 3 times but I haven't been in the room to see it!

I was on the radio yesterday (Five Live)! Talking about hypnobirthing. Its here if anyone wants to listen. 55 minutes in Smile

Chulita · 16/02/2011 12:56

cherrypie good luck at the dentist! Hope it's really quick and painless for you :)

neenz well done you! I tried hypnobirthing for S but still had an emcs but I did find that the preparation made me actually look forward to labour which was great and totally unexpected!

OP posts:
neenz · 16/02/2011 14:36

Yeah i think hypnobirthing can help in lots of ways, I don't think I was under actual hypnosis during either birth but a lot of the techniques helped me and I'm sure they could help all women. I hope i didn't come across as bashing epidurals tho cos i think they can be a godsend in many labours! I just think it is short-sighted to go into it saying 'just give me the drugs' because it is better for mums, babies and the NHS if women can give birth without drugs/intervention. I don't think there is enough childbirth preparation for women in the UK and I am sure it costs the NHS more in the long run Sad.

morsbagmum · 16/02/2011 18:05

Neenz I've just listened to you... you came across really well (and you don't live far from me)... I had an epidural as I had a long labour and needed intervention but I do like the sound of hypnobirthing.

Cherrypie I hope your dh is recovering well.

DH is off this week so not much time to post.

Weaning is going well, going to give the patties a go tomorrow. So far as finger food E has had rice cakes, carrot, pear, broccoli, and toast. Today she had some scrambled egg and loved it!

E is contantly rolling over now, and back again... but is getting very frustrated that she isn't getting anywhere, her legs are going, she just doesn't know what to do with her arms.

Hope everybody gets a good nights sleep.

morsbagmum · 16/02/2011 18:19

Can anyone remember the link to the patties, thought I'd saved it Blush obviously not!

CherryPie3 · 16/02/2011 18:53

Good evening all :)

Dentist was grim!! 3 anaesthetic injections and numerous 'bites' with the clay/plasticine type gunk :( temp crown fitted today, permanent one next weekend. On the plus side, she has requested the crown in the lightest shade as my teeth are "nice and white" Grin was very proud as I'm a coffee-a-holic lol.

Thanks very much for dh's wellwishes, he's been really well today (I may or may not have mentioned before that he has crohns disease, that's whats making him ill right now).

neenz the hypnobirthing sounds interesting, I'll definitely consider that next time (unlikely as would need persuading first tho Wink). Does g&a count as a drug btw?

Please would someone repost the patties recipe as they sound interesting and would like to keep things interesting for Corey as I feel he's getting a bit bored of his food! We're mixing blw and spoon fed depending on what he's eating, weetabix and ready brek I spoon feed (I sometimes mix a mashed banana or 'frube' yoghurt in as well to flavour it up a bit), finger foods are: toast, cheese, penne/fusilli pasta, rice cakes, pineapple, strawberries, banana, pear, apple, chicken fillet chunks, ravioli.... Just about anything really.

Is anyone trying anything different that I could try?

Ooh ooh [jumps up and down in excitement] I got a brand new stand mixer today - got a very very good deal from eBay so it cost me £31.49 and it's awesome! I wanted a kitchenaid for it's mixing action and power but couldn't afford it and my brick like hints at dh/Santa Clause didn't work sooooo.......I bought my own Grin [independent woman emoticon]- should have been £150!

Sending good nights sleep vibes to all xxxxx

neenz · 16/02/2011 21:02

Thanks Morbagsmum Smile. There are other things now I wish I had said but that's the beauty of hindsight! My friend reckons Colin Murray the presenter was probably a bit uncomfortable with the 'women's issues' being discussed. Grin

Cherry, no g&a is definitely not considered a drug lol Grin. I couldn't have coped without g&a but there are women who do, like my SIL who thought she had indigestion but actually was 10cm dilated! She didn't use hypnobirthing tho. I wasn't really under hypnosis for my births but I did really use some of the techniques. Every labour is different so it won't work for everyone.

Cherry have you tried green beans and broccoli? Daniel demolished sticks of sweet potato today. he is so much better at this blw lark than the twins were. They were rubbish. Daniel did let me spoonfeed him a bit today which he hadn't been doing but I am mostly letting him feed himself.

What do you do when they have a big chunk of food in their mouth that they can't swallow (or chew)? Dan had some kiwi in his mouth today - i put my finger in to fish it out and ended up pushing it down his throat Shock. Luckily he swallowed it but I thought that must be dangerous Sad. So do you just have to be careful or do you wait till they spit it out. I do have gill rapleys book but cant be arsed to go fish it out

bellygazing · 16/02/2011 21:09

Hi all Elodie appears to have just self-settled... I'm still expecting to hear the clarion cry from the bedroom...

Lots going on here, had my return to work meeting and my reduction to 4 days has been agreed and they're coming back to me about working 2 days from home (but feel pretty positive about it), my mum has agreed to help out with childcare if I can't manage, we had our second swimming lesson and E did 3 underwater swims, I fed her solids out and about for the first time and today she rolled from her back to her front for the first time.

Arse, I think I can hear her. Blooming typical.

WRT food/poo etc, haven't done finger foods yet but am planning to start on Monday when E hits 6 months. She's really taken to the cup and loves drinking water which is great. Hasn't refused anything yet, although not masssively impressed with banana. Neither was I, it didn't mash very well and when I washed the banana-ed bibs I got lovely black threads all over everything in the wash.

Ok, E is now making lots of noise but not yet crying. Shall I go in? decisions, decisions.

Night all

girlsyearapart · 17/02/2011 05:25

Belly- before you wash banana infested clothing squirt fairy liquid onto it then wash as normal.
Only thing that works!

marzipananimal · 17/02/2011 07:49

here's the patties recipe

neenz J does that too with big bits of food. I don't think the book says anything about it except generally leaving them to it unless they choke. From the look on his face though I get the idea that he wants to spit it out but can't, so I find it a bit stressful.

He had mango and a rice cake yesterday which went down well - I'm waiting to see what the poo will be like!

morsbagmum · 17/02/2011 09:06

marzipananimal thank you for posting the recipe again, will save it this time Blush.

girlsyearapart I swear by lemon fairy liquid, it's the only thing I've found that works on blueberry stains too.

bellygazing I hope you managed to get a good nights sleep.

morsbagmum · 17/02/2011 09:10

ok... just looked at the recipe for the patties again... a few silly questions... how much filling do you add? and how long do they keep? Do you keep them in the fridge?

CherryPie3 · 17/02/2011 12:30

Thats a great tip with the fairy liquid gya!! will definitely be trying that one as C manages to get banana in every crease on him :) such is the joy/fun of weaning!

Thanks for the recipe marzi. Haven't had chance to properly look at it yet as I'm on my iPhone just now and only operating on 3G as I'm at tesco. Reeeally can't be arsed with shopping so I stayed in the car on the pretence that C is asleep Grin.

neenz if C bites a chunk off I leave him to spit it out but watch him very closely with it cos I'm a right panicker

Xxxx

Chulita · 17/02/2011 13:16

morsbagmum I the same thing using our pancake recipe and just fling in what I want (usually banana and currants). You put as much filling in as you like so long as you still get a kind of pancake bit to cook. You can keep them in the fridge for a couple of days or freeze them and defrost as needed.

neenz I tend to leave him to it but I did hook out a mandarin segment yesterday cos he was struggling to get it back out again.

morsbagmum · 17/02/2011 14:53

Well the patties were a great hit! So so easy to make, made them by adding pureed sweet potato and butternut squash.... in the interests of quality control i tried one and hvae to say it was yummy...chulita thanks for the advice on storing them, I doubt they'll last very long Blush
