Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
4madboys · 10/03/2011 11:45

no no no, no more babies for me!! the only was i would consider it would be if we won the lottery and i could have a BIG house and a CLEANER!! and maybe a part time cook as well Grin

re periods/contraception/sex, i was thinking about having the coil but have just been put off with umf? and her bleeing, this one period is bad enough, tmi but its rather heavy, maybe thats just cos its my first post baby period? but its not pleasant and i now have a cold as well so feel a bit crap tbh.

re sex, we did attempt the other week to re-establish a sex life, but SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP, is way more important and i dont know about anyone else but as i am so busy with baby, toddler during the day and the older boys i feel 'touched out' so that by the end of the day i really dont feel like interacting with dp Blush once the kids and are all asleep i just enjoy sitting on the sofa and doing NOTHING, some nights i dont even want to talk, i just really need to switch off, something dp hasnt been too happy about recently, we have had a few 'discussions' about it and i am trying to say its not him, its me, i just need some 'me' time where i am not giving to someone else.

does anyone else feel like this or is it just me?!! Hmm

4madboys · 10/03/2011 11:46

sorry that should be EBB not umf, call it post baby brain and a cold Blush

4madboys · 10/03/2011 11:51

oh and Ebb i would have thought that Abbie much bigger than that, merryn is 14lb 30z so not a huge difference and i am sure in pics your dd looks bigger!! its funny isnt it our 'perception' of their size and then how big they actually are.

i was pleased to notice yesterday tho that despite her low milk intake merryn is getting creases at the tops of her thighs Grin the boys were all such chunky monkeys as babies and she really is a very different build, its so hard NOT to compare, but she seems happy enough, tho she wasnt happy at 5am this morning when she wanted her milk and had a stuffy nose, took me half an hour for her to have 3-4oz inbetween her trying to feed and screaming and then calming her down with the dummy and then swopping the dummy for the bottle... but she then slept and didnt want fed again till 10:30 where she took 4-5oz and she is happy under her baby gym at the moment.

right i need to get sorted as ds3 has an appointment at the hospital this afternoon (if any of you remember last year he had kawasaki disease?) and today is check up day to make sure his heart etc is all ok, am sure he is fine tbh, he has had a big growth spurt and has shot up and is looking a bit lanky and has big feet, a size 13 at just 6yrs old! so he must be fine Grin

Lainey1981 · 10/03/2011 12:16

Hello all,

Sorry been off the radar for so long. Thanks for all youR messages. Move has gone well, slight hiccup when the electrics kept tripping leaving us without heating, hot water or any kitchen appliances. All fixed now. Though meang we spent tues night sleeping in front room with fire lit!

Haven't had chance to catch up properly as in cafe stealing their wi-fi. My broadband won't be reconnected for another 8 days Shock

sgj would love to come to baby group, message me the details Smile

Getting used to new surroundings. V quiet compared to London, but so so clean and people smile at you!

rinny how frustrating re Isaac's eczema. Hope it gets sorted soon. Try to tap back into any left over resources of pregna-rage

Finn still a non mover, can sort of get on to his side, but doesn't seem interested. On the other hand he has not stopped talking for the last month. He shouts at me sometimes which is most cute.
Not thinking of weaning fot at least another 4 -6 weeks as he still seems content with his milk though have upped him to2x7oz and 3x6oz feeds as he is so hungry in the morning after sleeping 9 hours.

Am hoping to take him swimming in the next week or so. I went for a sauna/ jacuzzi session last sunday with dp. Was sooo lovely, will have to make it a regular thing. Forgotten what it was like to pamper myself.

Must go, as have to get tel numbers of leccie company etc to set up accounts.

Will hopefully be back on in couple of days to catch up x

4madboys · 10/03/2011 12:44

btw that is 14lb 3oz not 30oz!

hmmSleep · 10/03/2011 14:24

Lottie is only 13lb 6 at 21 weeks, and here's me thinking she was huge Hmm.

You're not on your own re too tired for ANYTHING 4madboys, poor dh sits chatting away in the evening whilst I stare blankly into the distance in a strangely zombiefied state. I only have 3 children constantly pulling, poking, yabbering at me so 5 must be claustrophobic at times.

Only got 2 hrs sleep last night and dh is working away this week so feel pretty wiped. I gave Lottie some pureed carrot and mango yesterday which she seemed to like, but then was really unsettled, crying and wriggling all night so I'm wondering if it upset her tummy a bit. Sticking to the babyrice for a few days now I think, although she's still not really interested so just giving her a couple of spoonfuls a day.

The ebay bugaboo buying has turned into a bit of a nightmare, handed over my money on Sunday but couldn't get a response from the seller until Tuesday who said all was fine but did I realise it didn't come with the carry cot or rain cover. No I didn't but decided to go ahead with purchase anyway and then bought them separately. She has contacted me again today to say she can't find the wheels Hmm. Starting to feel pretty pissed off! I'm tempted to just cancel and get my money back, but I now have a carry cot and rain cover. Grrr.

Jenni363 · 10/03/2011 14:49

Damn laptop I wrote a big post this morning and then the thing crashed Angry.

Rinnyx hope you get to the appointment soon! I added Freya to my BUPA as soon as she was born...

No rolling / sitting / teeth / solids etc here yet.. But F is still only 15 weeks so not stressed at all, get there when we get there..

We've been trying a bottle of formula before bedtime to see if it makes a difference in Freya's sleeping patternss (post jabs she was up 4-5 times a week for 2 weeks!), but no difference really, we are now back to her usual 1 am and 4 am feeds, which are ok. It has been a battle to get her to take the bottle and I am determined to keep up with it but with EBM as it made me realise of how dependent she if of me.. Last night DP put her to bed first time and it went really well! So freedom here we come!! Until now I've waited till F goes to bed if I've gone out with friends.

My perioid is nowhere to be seen yet (yay!).. I got the contraception implant put on on Monday night. Arm is bit bruised but it wasn't bad at all.

I must say though - the best contraception is... ta daa... to have a baby!! I always had a quite a high sex drive (sorry for tmi!) and I really fancy DP.. But right now I could happily go without sex, without even realising it... Not quite sure of how to get things heating again.. Doesn't help when the baby sleeps in our bedroom either...

Interesting to read about your swimming experiences. I really want to take F to the pool at my gym so about to order the wetsuit and the nappy thingy - thanks for the tip hmm

Ebb · 10/03/2011 15:38

4madboys apparently the coil takes a while to settle and once it does most women get very light periods or none at all. I think it erodes the lining of the womb so the egg can't implant ( as well as thickening the cervical mucus to prevent those sneaky little suckers meeting with the egg. )The mirena appears to be one of those contraceptives that you either love or hate. According to several recent posts on MN the Doctors don't tell you about the side effects. Some women just react badly to hormonal devices although the mirena is the equivalent of 2 mini pills a week. I've promised to give it a minimum of 6mths and see.

Agree Abbie looks very chunky in photos. I think it's her fat face! Grin She's got chunky thighs and pudgy hands. She also giggles for England. It's soooo cute!

4madboys · 10/03/2011 19:45

its funny all these babies i thought were bigger than merryn actually weigh less! lol to me she seems sooo much smaller than her brothers were at the same age and as she isnt a big feeder i have worried a bit Blush but she is doing just fine.

hmmsleep sounds a NIGHTMARE re the bugaboo, are you going to complain? or ask for a partial refund if you still go ahead, ie the cost of the carrycot and raincover at least!!

and so glad i am not the only one not up for sex! dp has been getting a tad down about it Hmm and tbf to him we have always had a fairly active sex life and when preg with the boys i was desperate for sex tmi! but when preg with merryn i was NOT interested so its been a bit of a change for him but seriously we have FIVE kids, i spend my whole day sorting them all out and trying to keep the house to a reasonable standard etc and i am still getting up to do night feeds etc with merryn, ds4 has been waking in the night as well, is it any wonder i am too tired to do anything other than stare at the tv in a zombiefied state in the evening?!!

EBB i shall have to have a think re the coil, the hormones tho very low may be a problem for me as after ds4 i had postnatal psychosis, i am absolutely fine this time :) but it was caused by a massive hormonal imbalance so the drs are wary of me having anything with hormones in it just dont want to take the risk, i value my sanity!

tho i may try the non hormonal coil, the new ones of them are supposed to be very good. tbh tho all contraceptive choices are a bit crap really dont you think?

dp wont have the snip as tho we dont want anymore he is a bit squeamish Hmm and like me he thinks that it seems a bit too final as we are both only 32 and 34, so young enough to have more if we want (are mad enough Grin ) so we dont want anymore but dont want to make that decision final, how crazy does that sound!

btw as i sit and type this ALL FIVE kids are in bed, some asleep and the tidying up and washing up etc is done, bottles sterilsed etc, just need to do pack lunches for tomorrow and i am sorted, dp is at work and yet it seems it is easier to do dinner, get them all in bed and tidy up without him here at times Confused but this is a record to have it all done this early!! Grin

means i can go and catch up on greys anatomy and one born every minute, i have some recorded to watch, or else i will probably just fall asleep on the sofa Hmm

Jenni363 · 10/03/2011 19:57

Hey hmm did you use anything under those swim nappies? Are you supposed to or will they do the trick as they are?

I've been to all the shops in Wimbledon from Argos to Mothercare (2 of them) looking for them and cannot find them anywhere... Wanted them for the weekend but will just have to buy online now.

Jenni363 · 10/03/2011 20:41

4mad.... I had DR's orders for no sex for 2 weeks before the implant just to make sure I wasn't preggers... And I was secretly pleased I had an excuse... How very sad of me Blush

Wallace · 10/03/2011 21:02

Not much sex here either - hard to find the time with 4 kids!

H was 16 weeks today and ROLLED from back to front! Or did he...? I think ds1 might have had a helping hand, but he says he didn't...

Still only babbling when he is grumpy, but it is hilarious to listen to - sounds like he is a grumpy old man complaining Grin

Took H swimming to day for the third time (actually been heaps more than that but he usually feigns sleep in his carseat at the side of the pool so he doesn't get dunked in the cold water Wink)

Was very proud of ds3 as he swam 15 metres - he is only 4 :)

Rinnyx · 11/03/2011 10:42

Sorry for my late reply but thank you for all your concern over Isaac's eczema, I called into the GP's on Tuesday to check they had resent the letter, they said they had and also checked to make sure the hospital got it, they did but said the dr who will see him was not back till yesterday so hopefully will get a letter with a app date soon, I may ring up Monday just to check.
DD has been saying how she cant wait to go swimming with him but I told her may be best to leave it till he has been seen, I dont want to run the risk of the chlorine making it worse or really stinging his skin.

Have got a busy week next week as getting the old bathroom ripped out and new one fitted so may be on here more as going to be stuck in all week, I think the week after getting out will be a must, tea and cake, oh yes!

Babybean1 · 11/03/2011 12:16

Hey everyone

Rinny hope they hurry with the appointment soon. Would recommend staying away from the pool for now. Evie has some really dry skin on her cheeks which HV told me to see GP about as could be eczema. Went to GP and just said no it was dry skin, probably from teething, cold weather and swimming classes every week may not have helped. Asked if it was still ok to go and she said yes but just cover her cheeks with sudacream as a barrier before. Quite thick stuff for her face tho and sometimes ends up looking like a smelly clown :)

Last lot of jabs yesterday! Was so proud of her as she only had a little cry after the last one and still smiled at the nurse when we left! Sooo different from the first time!

Evie was 13lb 13oz at 18 week weigh on tuesday. Unlucky for some Hey :)

4mad what teats are you using? Found Evie takes a lot less with teats with fewer holes. Imagine she's get fed up of sucking! Bought a bottle with a beaker lid thing, which also came with an airflow tear (think that's what it's called!) and she drinks at least an ounce if not more than normal!

Wallace well done to ds3 that's fab :)

Evie still non stop rolling! She can do it both ways now and even managed to roll over in her sleeping bag last night! Still need to master the rolling back tho! Makes nap times fun now as she just keeps rolling in her cot before going to sleep!!

Thanks for advice re: bottled water etc, will just go with that I think!

Have started weening this week & she absolutely loves it! HV said as she's quite petite (seems huge to me!) that I didn't need to and she just needs milk, but I know my own baby and she is so ready! Gets really excited when she sees the pot Grin and apple seems to be a definite favourite! Trying butternut squash at lunch time :) seems to have made her increase her milk intake as well so now back to 8.15pm - 7.30am nights after a minor blip last week.....so unless HV wants to come and get up during the night with her because she's hungry, she can leave me to it! Think she's happy enough :)

Fenouille · 11/03/2011 19:27

Norry's just completed his third full day at the CM so looks like its all systems go for work next week.

Quick question - has someone with a first name beginning with S just sent me (blue sky, red balloons) a facebook invite?

4madboys · 11/03/2011 20:24

babybean we use the avent bottles and she is on the 3mth plus teats i tried the next size up and she just chokes and splutters, i think she really doesnt have a big appetite but as she put on a lb in a month and is over 14lb at 12wks old she is doing ok on her small appetite, lol. she has been fussy today but has had 4-5oz most feeds, she doesnt feed as well when she is overtired, but its so hard to stop her getting overtired as i am in and out so many times with the boys, i guess it will get better as she gets older and needs less sleep? cant complain cos other than her fussy feeding she is a happy little thing and so smiley now Grin

oh and she rolled from front to back today and when on her back she will swing over onto her side but cant get over all the way, she is very strong on her front tho, lifting her head and shoulders right up off the floor and she likes to gurgle and coo away as tho she is chatting to me or whoever is looking at her etc :)

fenn great news with the cm!! good luck with work :)

well done to your ds3 wallace!! Grin

some of you will have seen on fb, but ds3's hospital check after his kawasakie disease was all fine, he has to go back for one more echocardiogram in 6-8wks but that should be it! thank heavens!!

Wallace · 11/03/2011 20:47

Glad to hear it, 4mad :)

bunnygirl80 · 12/03/2011 08:17

hmm hope you get the bugaboo sorted

wallace well done ds3 Smile

fen hope things keep going well at the cm

How many of these pointless baby products do you all have Wink I particuarly like the look of the daddle, although DH thinks it's degrading to men Grin

Immunisations went well yesterday, Will only cried for about 10 secs then started blowing raspberries at the dr Smile We were going to start solids today, but kind of forgot and spent the afternoon in the pub instead Blush Must try harder tomorrow!

OP posts:
Jenni363 · 12/03/2011 09:00

OMG Bunny that placenta teddy made me gag! Can you imagine.. Confused

Mibby · 12/03/2011 11:23

Definitely Jenni Eugh and double eugh!

hmmSleep · 12/03/2011 13:12

Well the bugaboo ebay situation is now really stressing me out. The seller has gone worryingly silent and after 100% positive feedback at the time I bid, has had 2 negatives in the past week Hmm. I now have a carrycot, raincover and basket with nothing for them to go on and no idea what's going on Sad Angry. The worst of it is I still haven't confessed to dh that I bought it in the first place. I actually feel a bit sick.

I took Lottie to the gp yesterday and was prescribed a bucket load of creams for her eczema, which he said ideally should be applied 10 times a day Shock or at least everytime I change her nappy. Hopefully will get it under control.

and if only I'd kept my placenta!!

Fenouille · 12/03/2011 21:21

Oh Hmm :( and Angry for you. Make sure all your correspondence is via ebay and read up about your rights as a buyer (and IMHO ebay and paypal typically are harder on the sellers if you have done everything by the book). Fingers crossed she comes through for you.

Placenta bear Shock To think I thought my SIL was weird, burying hers under a fruit tree. Admittedly, she had to freeze it and import it from America Hmm DH did get asked if he'd like to see mine after the birth - he replied that he'd already seen enough! Blush Grin

Bunny I also like the look of the Daddle but I sens I have to overcome some snap judgements here too [wink

bunnygirl80 · 13/03/2011 21:20

hmm Angry for you. Hope you manage to get either the pram or your money back asap

Offered Will some baby rice yesterday, which was not really a hit. Tasted it myself and I can see why he wasn't impressed Grin He much preferred a bit of banana and some sweet potato and carrot, although I think 95% of it ended up on his face rather than in his tummy

OP posts:
Fenouille · 14/03/2011 07:54

Bunny But I bet he was pleased with himself :)

Well, so far so good for this second attempt to go back to work. Norry was grinning madly at the CM as I dropped him off and I'm now on the tram on the way into work. Fingers crossed he doesn't suddenly decide he doesn't want his bottles again!

Pidgin · 14/03/2011 18:46

Really sorry to hear about your eBay experience Hmm. Hope you can get your money back. My bugaboo ebayer was a bit flakey but got there in the end... really hopes it works out for you, and quickly.

Interested to hear weaning stories. I am thinking of starting N on some baby rice this weekend (18 weeks), partly, I must admit, in the hope it might help him sleep better. But he is also showing all the signs of being ready and watches me open-mouthed when I eat, reminds me of having a dog! Sounds like the rice tastes a bit meh though!

Good luck with the appointment Rinny.
