omg i would be bloody livid fen!!! no wonder you are cross, on a positive note you have had chickenpox yes? and he is still bfeeding? SOO he may still have your immunity, until 6mths or so babies get lots of their immunity through breastmilk, so he may not get it. i know my boys were all exposed to it LOADS and never got it until after they stopped bfeeding and tbh they cna be exposed and not get it.

look out for general grumpiness and a runny nose, they are generally the first signs of the pox. re your holiday being stuck in a hotel room would be a pita and also they wont let you on a plane IF he still has infectious spots, so if he gets it whilst you are there you will have to wait till he is all scabbed over to fly home? at least i know others that had that happen to them of course you could just hide the spotty bits of him if he doesnt get it badly? but if he does you may end up needing a letter from a dr to say he is ok to fly!! that was the experience a friend had, maybe check with the airline and your dr?

but like i say he may not get it, so fingers crossed from me!!

and how old is the little girl that has been adopted? tbh you dont know that he is going to get it and its chickenpox season anyway so pretty hard to avoid being exposed so if they dont mind?

anyway positive thoughts he wont get it!!!

Another post and run - have put photo on profile :)

Oh Fen, how annoying! Feel your pain - We had a friend come round on Tuesday morning and her daughter had a scabby face & was off to the doctors in the afternoon - got a phone call later on & apparently it's (highly contagious) impetigo!! Was pretty cross but her mum's such a good friend I didn't feel like I could get cross, especially since I didn't say anything that morning. Anyway, I'm just doing what I guess you are - just keeping an eye on it and hoping nothing develops.
As for visiting your friends, if they know full well in advance and are ok with it, I wouldn't worry & see them anyway - you might actually be doing them a favour if Norry does have the pox, after all, people will actually pay to attend pox parties!!

I vote for SGJ's thread title because it's definitely true Grin

4mad clothing sizes over here are somewhat random once you reach 6 months. In some shops a size 0 is 6-9mths, and then a size 1 is 9-12mths, in others a size 0 is 6-12mths and a 1 is 1-2yrs Confused And clothes seem to be cut much smaller than in the UK - William was still wearing some newborn sized babygros from mothercare when he had pretty much outgrown his 0-3mth Aussie stuff. I will be hitting the shops in the UK as the clothes are so much cheaper than they are here.

I seriously need to get some more clothes for me too as my bum appears to have been entirely used for milk production - I put my size 10 work trousers on for a job interview yesterday and they fell off Shock

fen how inconsiderate of that mother, some people just have no consideration for others. Someone brought their pox ridden child in to see me for an appointment while I was pg - it simply didn't occur to them that the other patients sat in the waiting room might not want to catch it, or that it could have been dangerous to expose a pg woman to it Angry Hopefully Norry will be fine and your trip won't need to be postponed

I might be awol for a few days while we head over to the UK - leave me a link to the new thread so I can find you all Smile

Oooh SGJ that really would make me mad Angry

That's Shock and Angry bunny how inconsiderate.

Thanks for the hand holding 4mad. Norry is mostly bf (1.5ff per day) and I have had it about a billion years ago so I'm hoping that I've passed on enough immunity for him to avoid it. When your boys were exposed how close was it? Because the little girls at the CM like to give him kisses he's such a flirt and I don't really know what the infection path is. Thanks for a clue about the warning signs, trouble is he's had a cough and runny nose for about a month now

Well, my speciality is air quality in aircraft (I know it's a bit random but it's true!) so there's absolutely no way I would fly with him while he's spotty and not scabbed over. And getting stuck in Montreal is my biggest fear after having sat in the hotel for a week. Your friend's experience is the scenario I've been running through my head for the last 12 hours :( Does anybody know how long the incubation time is?

Oh well, too late now. Better get off and ready for work. Have lovely days everyone (and fingers cross you don't get impetigo SGJ).

Also like SGJ's title, but Lottie is an October baby

Coincidently Dd1 and Ds went to play at a friends yesterday, I arrived to collect them with Lottie and guess what? The little girl had a big open patch of impetigo on her face! Must be something in the air!! I'm also good friends with the Mum so felt I couldn't say anything, just hoping Lottie doesn't catch it, her skin is only just starting to improve from the eczema. Ds caught it when he was about 6 months and ended up covered, it took 2 lots of antibiotics to sort it and I hate giving abs.

Fingers crossed your little ones haven't caught anything fenn and SGJ.

Dd1 and Ds caught chicken pox off my mil when I was pregnant with Lottie (she kissed them, whilst she had shingles, I was not happy). The incubation period was about a fortnight I think.
