Mibby nice to meet you and Annabel today - she is such a poppet! Looking forward to Anya having a little more awake time (although I say that now!) and smiling more.
Fen, sarah, Mibby - I talk to anything going: Baby, other people's cats and dogs. Is the mad thing the talking or the pause for them to answer?

lainey1981 · 11/01/2011 17:12

comtessa careful what you wish for re more awake time, Finn has barely slept during the dya for the last few days, just short naps. Think he is/ was having a growth spurt as feeding v frequently and erratically too. V hard work to get anything done. So i have just surrendered to mumsnet and the sofa!

Got a call from work this morning to let me know my department are being restructured and my job is 'at risk' of redundancy.
I actually feel fortunate in that if i was mde redundant it would be a good thing given that we are moving and didn' fancy the commute upon my return.
Think would still be entitled to maternity pay and my redundancy pay which could get bundled together as anice lump sum tax free!
Should know more in the next month, but as I want to leave no doubt i will be matched onto a role i don't want. About half my department could face the axe sl am glad not there with all the anxiety etc that brings.

Am loving that Finn is giving out smiles a lot more frquently now alomg with some gummy coos. I talk to him a lot, but suspect if i had a cat/dog here thet would also get spoken to lol

Mibby · 11/01/2011 17:13

Comtessa I don't think its mad to talk to the cat (mine, neighbours or random ones we meet in the street) and I think you're fairly ok pausing to give them time to answer. You might be lucky and get a well timed 'meow' but if you think you've heard any other kind of answer, well then I might start to worry! :)

Forgive typos i blame my sausage fingers the touchscreen

harmonyb23 · 11/01/2011 17:53

Hello everyone,

I am off to legs, bums, and tums tonight. Will be the first time I have left Aiden, for longer than a couple of minutes, since he was born and the first time I have attended a group exercise session since about 3 months into my pregnancy! Looking forward to getting out of the house but am sure I'll worry how DP is getting on the whole time I am there. Also I am probably going to ache in the morning, really not looking forward to that! Sad

I don't think it is mad to talk to animals Comtessa. I talk to all manner of things, including inanimate objects sometimes - for example if something is in my way! I also talk to my rabbits and my chinchilla, think it would be rude not to!! Grin

Aiden is still sleeping well, although, we had a bit of a bad night last night when DP decided to come to bed quite late (about 1 am). He woke Aiden up and that threw his whole sleeping routine off kilter, ended up feeding 3 hourly! Instead of having my usual 7 hour kip, was really knackered this morning! Hoping things will go back to normal tonight, had just got used to him sleeping 7 hours at night, he's been doing it for the last week and a bit!!! Hope everyone else is coping well....

hmmSleep · 12/01/2011 09:55

I've been hoping to get back into exercise too harmony but just can't get organised, I'm most impressed! I'm consoling myself that walking the school run three times a day is at least something.

Lottie's taken a step back on the sleeping front, she's 12 weeks now and has reverted back to 3 hourly feeds day and night. I'm shattered after 3 months of so little sleep and the housework is suffering, I just feel too tired to get on with anything but the essential stuff and the mess is starting to get me down. Dd1 has a friend coming to play today and I actually feel embarrassed at the state of the house. Must get off MN and tidy!

Rinnyx · 12/01/2011 10:33

Hello all, anyone remember me?
Dont think I have posted since just before X-mas, hope everyone is well and had a fab X-mas and new year.
My not so little man is now 9 weeks and about 10 lbs 10 oz but still to small for 0-3 month clothes
He had his 8 week check and 1st set of jabs yesterday, I think I cried as much as he did, felt so mean as he was all cooing and smiles to the dr and nurse not knowing what was coming next.
Hes ok this morning but had alot of 'I'm in pain' cries last night, poor little man :(

Isaac Saturday night, all smiles :)

Fenouille · 12/01/2011 12:24

Grin at comtessa and mibby (and all the rest of you animal talkers) at waiting for an answer (I do too Blush ) I think my colleagues were Hmm because our cats are French but we obviously speak to them in English and German. At least I think that was the reason... ahem.

lainey if it would suit you why not volunteer for redundancy? My friend did this (she was about to resign when redundancies were announced) and she managed to negotiate a nice lump sum to finance her move to where her new job was. The worst they can say is no and like that you might help save the job of someone who really wants to keep it.

hmm I feel your pain. Norry's suddenly stopped sleeping through consistently (10 weeks today) and after having been spoilt up to now it's a bit of a shock to the system. Hope you get things under control soon.

harmony we're recommended here to wait until our pelvic floor sessions have finished before starting exercise again but I've got a voucher for 10 power plate sessions saved up for that date! I sense it's going to be painful :) I'm sure your DH is going to enjoy having some father and son bonding time though so just enjoy yourself. Perhaps I'm a bad mother but I've already left Norry for trips to the shopping centre on several occasions. I've really enjoyed just doing the weekly shopping all by myself. Last time I came back and DH had washed the windows as well!

Hi rinny nice to hear from you, glad to hear everything's going well. Can't see your photos unfortunately but baby smiles are the best aren't they? We've got some here this morning.

Bit of a mega post but I also wanted to share this with you too. I've never really seen any photos of me when I was small because they're all on slides. Dad's now digitized them and sent me a couple and Norry is the spitting image of me (apart from DH's eyes)! I'm so pleased as my MIL keeps asking who he resembles on my side of the family and I've never been able to answer (doesn't particularly look like my Mum and Dad and they've not properly met him yet so no chances for any "oh he looks just like great aunt Edna" type comments).

lainey1981 · 12/01/2011 12:24

Hi rinnyx good to hear from. Isaac is a gorgeous boy! How much did he weigh when he was born, am sure Finn must be pushing 11lbs now and is only 6 weeks.
I am too lazy busy to get him weighed

Rinnyx · 12/01/2011 12:42

I'll try again Blush

Yep gotta love smiles, makes it worth that morning poo nappy haha
He has got a cheeky smile on him, real heart melter Grin

He was 6lbs 8oz when born lainey
Hes really putting it on all of a sudden, I think its mostly due to him being FF now rather than BF, I just could not keep up by 7weeks, both boobs every hour was a real killer
Only 2 more weeks and you can find out at the 8 week check :)

lainey1981 · 12/01/2011 12:50

fen I've told them off the record that I would like to volunteer for redundancy waiting to hear back about my options. Unfortunately my decision is unlikley to save anyone's job as it's specifc jobs that hvae been axed rather than a headcount quota.
Have been reading up and very protected while on mat leave - they essentially have to let you hvae 4 week trial in any vacant position. There are a couple for twice my current salary, tempting lol

b00kw0rm · 12/01/2011 12:53

Hi all,
We've been away for a while- decided to have a little holiday to try and get over James' illness and because we didn't really have a Christmas! So am Sad to have missed the Nottingham meet-up... hope I can make the next one!
I'm also really jealous of those with babies sleeping through the night Envy - I'm just happy if James sleeps for 3-4 hours rather than feeding every hour or two like he does during the day! My boobs were all over the place with James' stay in hospital, wth supply going right down and then back up again, but we're starting to feel like normal again now finally.
Hoping to get James weighed later so am hoping his illness hasn't thrown him off too much...

b00kw0rm · 12/01/2011 12:55

Also forgot to say that I was trying to read back and great to hear that kiwikat 's DD got the help she needed- well done for pushing the issue!

Mibby · 12/01/2011 13:17

bookworm we're meeting again in a fortnight, cant remember the details now but Im sure they'll be a thread fairly soon to organise it

funbun · 12/01/2011 15:48

Enjoy your aerobics class harmony, I went yesterday for the first time and am aching today but was great to have an hour to myself. Mum came over to babysit, and LO had some EBM. Your partner will be fine, will help with bonding for him and LO.

Am jealous of all of you with 7, 8 and 9 hour sleeps. LO is 7 weeks tomorrow so I'm sure it will happen soon - he has done the odd 5 hours so am hopeful. Those with the long sleeps - when did this happen? I know all babies are different but am interested.

lainey1981 · 12/01/2011 17:01

I have a copy of the 30day shred and have watched level 1. Surely this counts as exercise?

bunnygirl80 · 12/01/2011 22:43

fen Will manages about 10 mins under his gym before he starts getting agitated - he just doesn't like being left to amuse himself. I have lots of conversations with him - yesterday we were discussing the finer points of the rules of tennis in preparation for the Australian open next week Grin

hmmsleep maybe Lottie's having her 3 month growth spurt and she'll settle down in a couple of days.

bookworm glad James is better and you've managed to get away for a few days

lainey hope you get the job situation sorted

Am v Envy of the babies that are sleeping through. I think Will might not be far off joining them though - he's dropped his early evening nap and instead goes down for the night at 8pm. He only wakes for about 10mins to feed at 2am and 5am and he's so half hearted about the 5am feed I'm going to try offering his dummy instead tonight because I don't think he's actually hungry at that time. Nights have actually been much better since I started making sure I get him up by 7am - over xmas we were lying in until more like 9 and he was up until 10pm every night.

Eek Skye's a porker! Had her weighed yesterday, she's 8 weeks today and was 13lbs 11.5oz. I'm grateful we've had no worries about weight gain. :) no jabs either thankfully. Skye is still sleeping through ATM but I'm waiting for that to stop anytime! :).

Wallace · 13/01/2011 20:54

Hamish is 8 weeks today and was 11lbs 3oz on Monday. He is just below the 50th centile - it is nice to have an average baby - I have had two big boys -especially ds1 who DOUBLED his birthweight in 7 weeks - and a tiny dd.

kiwikat - glad to hear things are getting better. I was rereading some of the old Postnatal threads and recognised your name :)

hmmSleep · 13/01/2011 21:05

Took Lottie for her 12 week jabs today, the poor thing was not happy, screamed for a whole hour afterwards, not a sad cry, a real angry scream, the nurse commented on how cross she looked, she's one feisty red-head!

harmonyb23 · 14/01/2011 09:58

Took Aiden to Baby Clinic today. Had him weighed and he is now 12lb 4oz at 11+3 weeks. He is on the 50/75th percentile (he is corrected by 3 weeks due to being premature). So proud of him he has managed to more than double his weight from birth until now.

Not looking forward to taking Aiden for his 12 week jabs next Wednesday, the screaming is horrible isn't it hmmsleep. Last time Aiden screamed very briefly, but even that made me feel very sorry for him he did fall straight back to sleep though so hopefully he'll do the same next week.

b00kw0rm · 14/01/2011 15:41

Just to add to the weighings- James was 13lb 14oz on Wednesday at 10+1... he was on the 91st centile but has now dropped to 75th, but that was what I was expecting after him being so ill and not feeding for a week or more, so I'm still a happy mummy!
J only had his 8=week jabs yesterday as we were advised to delay by the hospital- poor thing was so unsettled last night I rocked him for ages in the rocking chair and ended up giving him some calpol, but he did sleep from 9pm-4am which is a definite record for him- shame I know that it's onlt because of the jabs and won't last!

comtessa · 14/01/2011 16:35

b00kw0rm, I think we're meeting in my neck of the woods next time so I'll start a thread soon (puts procrastinating hat on).

Anya doing well, she was back up to birthweight last Friday so now discharged from MWs. Sadly my c-section wound still isn't healing properly so I'm on ABs again. They affected Anya last time to the point of having a cross-hatched and slightly bleeding bottom which is only now better so I'm expressing and getting rid of my milk and she can be on formula for a week until they're out of my system. Anya and I are now staying at my parents' for a few days so I can do nothing but rest and feed her. It's been great but missing DH and I know he's not particularly happy about it. However it's been so worth it and I'm finally starting to feel normal again. I feel like this is the part I missed out on just after she was born as I was dealing with the PIL and trying to do Christmas things then.

Re. 6-week appt, does that get allocated to you by your GP or should I call to make appt? Glad to hear all babies doing well. Great news about James b00kw0rm.

Mibby · 14/01/2011 20:07

Comtessa Glad to hear youre being well looked after :) Hope the AB's work and you heal up properly this time

My 6 week app (although it was 8 weeks by the time it happened) came through the post once we'd registered the baby with our GP

bunnygirl80 · 15/01/2011 07:39

It's interesting how the vaccination schedule seems to differ between here and the UK. I wonder who decides at what age they're meant to have them and whether it actually makes a difference

We're not due any more jabs until 4 months Grin, but then poor Will was given his first lot 30 mins after he was born along with the vit k.

comtessa hope you heal up properly soon
