DGT yes, cbeebies is definitely on the plan. Rolf your bath idea is not something that would have occurred to me. Once you have more than one Mummy's sense of decorum is even more depleted than after childbirth the first time round. P is fascinated by "Mummy's juice" and has had a thorough inspection of how the milk comes out Blush. He is also thrilled that W does yellow poos as it's his favourite colour. This has led to several lengthy conversations about the colour of everyone's poos in the family. I just know that he is going to use this to embarrass me with this at some point in the future.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 21/11/2010 18:57

S was up at 4.30am this morning Spider while staying at the ILs - they got up with him, watched toy story and then went back to bed to watch cbeebies. Apparently he then fell asleep and didn't wake up till 9.30am. I've never been a fan of tv's in the bedroom, but I can see now how it could be quite handy...

Rolf - yes, he does have impeccable morals which is one of the reasons I married him! I just feel so bad for him though - he's knackered and could really do with the break.

DewinDoeth · 21/11/2010 19:21

DGIT it may not be all bad - DH speaking. In England and Wales, court is closed Christmas Day, he would be hugely surprised if any criminal trials were listed (to start, or even to continue) between Christmas and New Year, so even if he has to do any jury service at all, it's likely to be super short. It's normally skeleton staff at the courts over Christmas, and you'd be lucky (or rather hugely unlucky) to get a criminal trial starting on the Monday after Christmas (or would that be a bank holiday due to Xmas being on a weekend??) with a defence and a prosecution barrister willing to turn up!
Have they set out the 2 weeks in the letter?

Biscuits alas no such helpful words for you - lots of hopeful ones though, hope it all clears up quickly and you're 10 days overdue (never thought I'd wish that on anyone! Grin YKWIM I'm sure!).
A question for H&S - did you get Edie vaccinated? I'm seriously wondering about that now - Iestyn still hasn't had the pox, and the older he gets, the worse it will be. (Plus there's the potential Biscuits scenario. Would do anything to avoid that.) I suffered really badly when I had it, scarred badly too. Unusual for my family and our rhino skin - we don't normally scar, rash or stretch-mark as we have tough stretchy skin. Grin The downside is the serious (Wink) genetic defect which means we can't process alcohol very well. Shock

Not feeling too bad this weekend: DH is back, I'm rested. But my heightened sense of smell is a nightmare with Iestyn's shocking nappies! Grin

Hardandsleazy · 21/11/2010 19:26

Yes did dewin (had to do it privately) as was
Also worried that older tends to mean worse and was seriously worried re her getting it before or while away (have had two friends who ended up not travelling or stuck abroad due to cp). E was fine with it but need to go and do booster jab as like mmr I think you only get about 95% immunity or so with one jab

neenz · 21/11/2010 22:24

spider 5am start not good - sympathies Sad very funny story about liking yellow poo tho!

amber, well done luke! e is doing really well now - today i was doing my shopping online, turned around and she was sat on the potty doing a wee. they still both need reminding and watching tho. t is not doing as well but we started a week later with him.

biscuits, really sorry about the cp. awful timing Sad

dg, know what you mean about tv in bedroom - i am against it but it would be dead handy! i still put dts down for rest at lunch but they never go to sleep and just get rowdy, jump on the beds, fight etc!

really sad for paije! cant bear cher

PiggyPenguin · 22/11/2010 10:02

Oh No Biscuits! both mine had it around this age and it was really mild and over quickly, hopefully it will be for C too. J hasn't had it yet which does worry me, hopefully he will get it before school.

Anyone seen the snow forecast for later this week? As he did last year, dh has managed to plan a trip away to coincide with the bad weather. WE'll be in snow suits and he'll be in shorts. He's really being quite smug about it too...

SpiderWilliam · 22/11/2010 10:34

Sybil I saw the weather too. I was thinking that it might be an interesting week to move to the NE of England for Deb. They are used to snow at least, although not used to how pathetic the UK is in snow.

The good news is that P abandoned his 5am regime this morning. DH and I were most relieved. Just stuck at home waiting for a midwife to turn up. We should have been discharged except that I seem to produce babies with thick cords that take weeks to drop off. MW who came last week wouldn't discharge us until it is off...

Amberc · 22/11/2010 13:23

We had that with Luke Spider - two weeks it stuck on - and it stank!

Biscuits - what timing! Hope its over soon.

Oh Spider we had a bit of luck with Luke too. He has been getting up at 5.30 on the dot every day bar about 2 since the time change which is hideous. He woke at 6.30 this morning - hurrah!

We took him to Woburn Safari park yesterday as Mark thought it wuld be easy for me not having to get out of the car but it nearly killed me and I was in so much pain with my back and SPD. I just can't do anything now it's really miserbale and frustrating. 7 weeks to go.

SpiderWilliam · 22/11/2010 17:05

Amber - maybe with twins they will both have smaller cords (hopefully). W's cord still drying out, MW thinks it's fine but won't be off anytime soon. She also thought he had a distended abdomen: cue calls to paediatrics and then a trip to the GP this afternoon. They think he's fine but agree his tummy is an odd shape. Luckily he is doing poos for England so that seems to reassure everyone... Got to go back to the hospital on Wednesday for repeat bloods to double check his kidney function.

Well, despite this, the three of us have got to 5pm relatively unscathed. We even made it to the swings for a bit. DH making optimistic noises about leaving the office at 5.30.

Amberc · 22/11/2010 17:29

Well done Spider! I am annoyed that there is no such thing as a double baby sling for stuff like the swings (there probably is but can you imagine lugging 14 lb of baby around?!)

SpiderWilliam · 22/11/2010 17:53

It just occurred to me that today must be Biscuits EDD. Given C's chicken pox, hope you are all ok and tucked up at home and there are no twinges. Thinking of you whatever is going on.

Amber - I have seen photos of Earth Mothers with multiple wrap slings being used for twins and even triplets. No excuses Amber, just embrace your inner lentil weaver Wink. today though W just got left in his pram whilst I ran round after P. I will see if I can find a photo.

SpiderWilliam · 22/11/2010 18:00

Here you go Amber, keep scrolling down to the bottom: twinsinasling

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 22/11/2010 18:01

thanks spider! am here, just waiting, having a lot of BHs, but did last time too. Must be the only woman at 40 weeks who's trying to put every twinge down to BH and having to hope it's not labour! pox is still in evolution, so far C is OK with it still and not too itchy as yet.

systemsaddict · 22/11/2010 18:17

Picked Caitlin up: chicken pox. In Liam's school bag: the head lice letter.

systemsaddict · 22/11/2010 18:56

Good luck Biscuits hope the timing works out for you!

Ah I miss the days of wearing my babies in a wrap - must admit though the thought of two at once is a bit scary! Amber what people in your situation tend to do here (and I live in a town full of lentil-weaving mums and we do seem to have a lot of 1 + twins - lots of older university mums maybe?) is wear one twin and push the other, in a double buggy with the toddler. If that's any help!

DewinDoeth · 22/11/2010 20:03

Careful what you say about those 'older university mums', Systems! Grin I have no intention of having twins.

Looking at all those slings has made me all mushy. I'll have to get my sling out for next time! I didn't have one until Iestyn was 6 mo, when I got the close baby carrier for free. (We did have a baby bjorn or rather a bush baby one, but as with most things - grobags, carseats, washable nappies, clothes - Iestyn was freakishly small and sunk to the bottom of it!)
Iestyn is now developing a cold, and has gunky eyes. Also dodgy nappies - and these all come with teething normally. I'm really hoping that nursery don't do a wobbly on me tomorrow because I'm teaching, and I can't afford to rearrange it because I'm up in St Andrews in a couple of weeks.

Biscuits good luck, hope either the pox passes or you're overdue! Grin Also poor poor C, I do feel for her, properly ill and sibling coming as well - quite a lot for the little one to handle. (Eldest child here! Grin)

Project m/s still ongoing: second acupuncture on Friday; drinking ginger beer and eating cereal bars (thanks ktpie I'd forgotten that one) and also wearing sea bands. It's nowhere near as bad as last time, thank goodness. (Pretty bad last week but better this week - combination of remedies probably.)

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 22/11/2010 20:19

What's bringing you up my neck of the woods(ish) Dewin?

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself. S didn't nap and was very cranky which led to me shouting at him. Later he said 'mummy shout and scream at S' Sad. I also started with stomach pains this afternoon which are getting progressively worse. Sad

SpiderWilliam · 22/11/2010 20:27

Glad to hear you are hanging in there Biscuits.

Dewin good that the sickness isn't so bad. It's so demoralising isn't it? I also find myself thinking that as getting pregnant has been entirely my choice the sickness is self inflicted and that makes me feel even more miserable.

DGT sorry you don't feel so good. I'm sure P would say similar to S if he only had the language skills some days.

Systems I am trying to remember where you are that is so lentil weavery. I think I have it: red rose territory right?

Rolf · 22/11/2010 21:17

DG me too Sad. The boys had stomach upsets last week and it's made its way to me. I feel awful, and DH is away so I'm hoping I'm able to take the children to school in the morning. T has just woken up, too.

SA that sounds so sweet, having a twin in a sling and the other one in a double buggy.

Amber how are you feeling now? I can't imagine how uncomfortable it must be for you. Biscuits how are you? And C?

Dewin glad the ms has calmed down a bit.

Spider well done on getting through today Smile

Amberc · 23/11/2010 08:54

Spider - no chance on the sling - looks like you'd need a degree in escapology to even put the thing on/get it off! Got my double buggy now but haven't taken it out of the box yet. Actually the last bits other than the nursery furniture arrived yesterday so I am ready to go!

Seems to be a lot of CP going round doesn't there./ Please God DO NOT let Luke get it as I simply couldn't cope (Rolf - feel like shite and can hardly walk due to SPD/back pain and now lower bump muscle pain).

I have to go to a coffee morning today with my NCT people. It's the refresher group and I only went to one and a half sessions with them so I am only hoping I can remember what they look like!

Domestic - LUke is always telling me off for shouting at him. He told me off for shouting at the cat this morning - mummy don't shout at Mabel! She was trying to pinch my toast cheeky cow. Thing is when I came back from the loo Luke had taken my toast and put it on the floor and Mabel was licking it. then Luke picked it up and took a bite -eeeeeuw!

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 23/11/2010 09:18

Sounds awful Amber. I really hope the next 7 weeks goes quickly for you.

Rolf, sorry to hear that you're not great either. How was your night? Did you manage the school run? I was really lucky - DH was supposed to go to London yesterday but it got cancelled at the last minute. Had a pretty miserable night without much sleep, so have taken today off. (Didn't fancy my chances in a 2 hour car journey!).

Spider - well done in getting to the swings! I struggle to get S there sometimes Grin Hope you have another good day today.

Biscuits - how's C? You know you need to check in every day now or we'll think you're off having the baby!

Well, the sofa beckons. However, Tuesdays are DH's day off with S so won't get as much peace as I would have liked. Why couldn't I have been sick on a nursery day Wink

Oh, thanks for all the nice words re: S complaining about my shouting. He announced this morning that DH hit him (when obviously he doesn't!) - who knows what he says when he's at nursery Wink.

Rolf · 23/11/2010 11:11

Thanks DG. I'm much better today and was fine on the school run. Sorry you're still feeling bad, though.

T wore knickers to nursery yesterday! She couldn't decide if she wanted a repeat this morning and we were even later than usual as she was worrying about knickers/nappy. She's not entirely happy with either Hmm so lots and lots of changes of clothes, fretting, worrying...She's been horribly constipated as well which is very painful and upsetting for her.

systemsaddict · 23/11/2010 11:22

Red rose territory, exactly!

Amber Caitlin was feeding our cat pizza yesterday, can't believe she ate it but she is extremely greedy!

DGIT I spent some time carefully removing dried up flour and water from Caitlin's hair a few days ago. She then went in to nursery and apparently spent the whole day telling them "Mummy was pulling my hair!"

Rolf sorry to hear about T's constipation. After the poo problems we have had here (ongoing for years now) I now really wish we'd started using Lactulose way before we did, before L built up resistance to going at all. I think he is now likely to be on it very long-term, as every time we skip a day he starts witholding again.

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 23/11/2010 11:39

just checking in... C still pox ridden, and baby still staying put, for now.

Rolf · 23/11/2010 12:46

Poor L, SA. It's horrible to see them in such pain isn't it? It's only happened to T a few times (3 or 4 maybe?) so I think I need to focus on keeping an eye out for it building up, rather than look into medication, but it was unfortunate that it coincided with her wanting to wear knickers. When it's painful for her (TMI alert!), it helps her if she stays standing up and I "catch" it with a wipe in my hand, like delivering a baby! But I imagine that soon enough she'd be too embarassed to do that. The few times it's happened, I've worried that it's causing her damage - it's so solid and so horribly painful for her. I'm sure for an older child like L it becomes much more difficult to manage.

Biscuits is C still producing more blisters or do you think they are all out? Hope you're ok.

Waves to Deb in case she's lurking. Hope everyone is coping with the move Smile
