Shiny new thread, as promised fellow FEBers!

Figured we would start another new one to mark first birthdays, bethlou, so I've held fire on referencing that landmark in this thread title - hope that's okay with y'all!

Anyway, welcome everybody, pull up a comfy chair, someone get the wine out and I'll open a huge box of chocolates for us all to share.

Sounds like you're making progress, LBH! With any luck, you're through the worst of it now. Do you know that solid sleep between the hours of 00.00 and 05.00 qualifies as sleeping through?!
You may find that while your DD stops waking for milk every hour or two, she will now wake early instead - I've read that CC rarely works once the baby's "up for the day" - 05.00+ - so you might have to resign yourself to early mornings. BUT if you can get to bed at a reasonable hour and you don't get interruptions through the night, I'm guessing that will still be a big improvement...
And you're not a shit mum - you're doing what you feel is best for you and your LO, which means you're a wonderful mum. She'll still love you as much as ever too Smile

Well, DD had an excellent night (for her) after two naps of only slightly over half an hour each, which didn't bode well. But in fact, she only woke twice between 19.30 and 07.30, took a feed both times then went back down without a fuss.

By my calculations, we're at Week 38 (corrected) which means we're through the first of the two developmental leaps that make up the 9 month sleep regression. And it hasn't been too bad, so far (she says cautiously, minding the MN jinx...) - the next leap is around Week 46, then that's it for a little while. We'll see how DD's sleep is once we're through that and then I'll assess whether any more sleep training is needed. Nap training, I suspect, will be essential if I'm to have any hope of her taking reasonable sieastas in her cot...

...and speaking of the MN jinx, there was I proudly describing how my DD was eating loads of puree etc. and WHAM, she'll hardly touch the stuff now. She seems to have decided it's got to be proper food only, a bit like chinook's DD. It's coincided with her getting all these new teeth, so I suspect she's finding it more interesting to chomp on things than suck them off a spoon. Luckily, puree can be spread on rice-cakes, so we won't be wasting it!

Good luck for tonight, LBH and everyone else who needs a sleep boost (almost all of us, I think...!)

I've been reading your posts on and off for a while but haven't posted since dd2 was born on 19 Feb. Am in awe at you all being able to write so many posts. Dd2 is 3 and loves being a big sister but they are both going through a phase of only wanting to be with me - especially when tired - which makes you feel special but shattered. Am really lucky in that dd2 is sleeping well at night at the moment but is still on medication for reflux and very difficult to settle during the day if not in a moving pram though I realise this is incredibly minor as these things go.

Really interesting to see what all your little ones are doing. I saw your video IC with your gorgeous dd playing with items on her head. Have now done this with dd and she loved it so thanks for the idea.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 14/11/2010 18:30

Wow, hi again extremelychocolateymilkroll! Blast from the past!

Sorry to hear about the reflux, that's a toughy. I share your moving pram nap situation - isn't it great during the winter months, eh?! Hmm

Glad you enjoyed the vid - it's SO cute when they do the things-on-the-head-thing....

LittlebearH · 14/11/2010 19:12

Hi all

Well she has been screaming for 35 mins so far....not been sick this time..yet!

It is horrendous. She has been grumpy all day too.

What is this things on the head thing??
watrcress how was the party?

Hi extremelychocolateymilkroll
My DD is very clingy too. It is tiring when all they want to do is climb. (and pull my hais - amazed I haven't got bald patches!)

IC Glad you had a good night. I miss BF so much, I got more sleep then as I could always settle her without any crying as she would fall asleep on boob!

Will be back with an update on madam...

SconesForTea · 14/11/2010 19:29

Wow a quiet Sunday everyone after a very busy few days. I can't keep up with you lot!

LB it sounds like it's working... Smile That's 6,5 hours between wakings, wow! It must be very, very hard Sad but you're getting there. It will be worth it.

We had a totally bizarre night last night - DD didn't wake once... Not once, between 6pm and 7am Shock Shock Shock. I was out for the evening and didn't get back until 2am (dirty stop out Wink) so DH was on night duty. Now why does she choose the one night he is on duty, to perform this amazing trick?! Of course I'm not expecting her to repeat it. Just fervently, fervently hoping.

I can't remember if I posted about my redundancy or not. Basically there are no jobs avaiable (they say Hmm) and they are paying me the very least they contractually can. It works out as 7 weeks pay. OK it isn't nothing, but it is by no means a generous settlement and I can't survive on that for very long (well, I'm going to try to make it last a year, but I wanted enoug to last for two years and another DC). I'm Angry but there's nothing I can do.

GF I use two spoons feeding DD too. She ate a miniscule amount of butternut squash soup today. At this rate I'll still be BF her when she goes to school Hmm.

I'm blimmin knackerd after my night out yesterday (dinner and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - fantastic) - my own fault, but I can't wait for bedtime.

SconesForTea · 14/11/2010 19:33

Ahem Blush not such a quiet Sunday I just hadn't turned the page... Very tired...

Good luck for tonight LB

Hi extremelychocolateymilkroll!

Hey IC I loved that vid too, I've been putting stuff on DD's head since, I think I find it a lot more funny than she does.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 14/11/2010 19:51

Sending you solidarity, LBH - here's hoping she'll go to sleep soon.

And since you asked, things on the head thing

Bummer on the redundancy, scones Angry

Hi IC LB and Scones

I'm on a roll tonight but I may exhaust myself and the los might then be 18 months before you hear from me again. It's funny how you know exactly how long it is since you saw people/did things because you know how old your lo was at the time - and usually a lot more time has passed than you'd think.

IC the reflux is not the nightmare that it can be for some people. She's got silent reflux - we only found out at 6 weeks when she possetted some blood. She was discharged from hospital with 3 meds but is now just on Ranitidine. That plus cranial osteopathy seems to be controlling it pretty well. Tbh I think it's the medicine which is working - find it very hard to believe that what looks like holding the baby at the osteo appts is doing any good but we shall see. I'm glad to have discovered that the pram works as we had her in a carrier for 7 months and only saw the wonders of the pram when having to walk dd1 to nursery - and we are supposed to be experienced parents. DH can get her to settle during the day by walking around with her for about 15 or 20 minutes but I find that exhausting and I'd rather go out with her in the pram - in whatever weather.

LB hair pulling is one of my dd's favourite things and no matter how short the hair she somehow manages to grab it and then she giggles. Good luck with the sleeping.

Scones sorry to hear about the redundancy. Fingers crossed there's something better around the corner for you.

Best of luck to all who are struggling - especially with sleep deprivation. It sounds like you're all doing an amazing job.

GuernseyFrench · 15/11/2010 06:43

I think we have been hit by the sleep regression.DS woke up every 2 hours last night but resettle quickly.

He now can stand up if holding on low furniture and he has practised his crab walk this weekend. His girlfriends at nursery are going to be well impressed. Grin

LB I hope the night went well

Welcome back extremely

Phew96 · 15/11/2010 07:10

Hi everyone, I can't remember if I've posted on here before but I've lurked occasionally. DS (Noah) was born on 10th Feb and I've got a DD (Ava) who will be 2 at the end of this month

It's good to read how everyone is getting on. DS is a rubbish sleeper but I half expected it as DD was (and sometimes still is) quite bad too. I blame DH, I love my sleep far too much for them to have got it from me :o

DS seems to be doing really well, he's standing alone for quite a while now and took a couple of steps the other day. I think he just wants to keep up with his sister.

I hope I can keep up with the thread this time!

LittlebearH · 15/11/2010 07:58

Morning!!

Ok night three:

Went down at 6.45pm cried cried until she fell asleep at 7.30pm

Woke at only 8.15pm with a poo nappy and cried until falling asleep at 8.42pm

Woke at 1.25am but cried until falling asleep at 2.40am.

Woke at 5.25am cried until falling asleep at 6.40am

Woke at 7.15am. Gave her her milk, she drank 1oz and refused the rest FFS.

Luckily has eaten her porridge though.

DD is NEVER the same two days in a row!

Think the CC is improving slowly. Still feel hellish though. Poor DD.

My friend did it and it took her DD two weeks Shock

Hope you all have a good day. I may go to a baby group this morning..

InmaculadaConcepcion · 15/11/2010 12:13

Hi phew! ANOTHER bad sleeper...! Is it an Aquarian thing? Or are they all too gifted and talented to sleep??!!

Oh, LBH, sounds tough. Good for you for sticking it out... 2 weeks? Shock Gawd, let's hope not!

Grin at GF's DS and all his girlfriends!

OP posts:
LittlebearH · 15/11/2010 12:27

IC your DD is so cute!

I reckon they are all too gifted!

I am feeling guilty, DD is teething and her "voice" is a bit raspy today and has a runny nose. Also wont drink any milk. Luckily she is eating though. Just hoping she will take a bottle this afternoon as I will start fretting about her fluid intake. She just spits water out.

Spoke to a friend and she says keep going with the CC....

Hope I am doing the right thing...

InmaculadaConcepcion · 15/11/2010 14:17

Thanks, LBH!

You are doing the right thing if it helps give you and your DD better sleep, LBH. Tough love.

Having said that, if she DOES have a cold, she may actually need a bit of overnight comfort. Difficult decision to make as you won't want to spoil your progress, but hey...

OP posts:
GuernseyFrench · 15/11/2010 17:09

IC most mothers are also complimenting on DS. What charms them are his very long eyelashes.

LB there is an improvement in the sleeping. DS lost his voice once after doing CC, the gp told me it was not to worry about Confused but the motherly guilt is there, isn't it? There should be a notice at the birth of our LO saying 'this baby will bring you lot of joyce and a feeling of guilt' Smile

phew welcome back

ClimberChick · 15/11/2010 17:19

nope IC DD is a pisces (sp?)

BabyGiraffes · 15/11/2010 18:12

Aquarius are trouble!! I am one myself Grin

BabyGiraffes · 15/11/2010 18:17

Should add they are also fun, imaginative, independent, creative, and extremely good looking Grin Okay, okay I am making this up as I go along...

Phew96 · 15/11/2010 18:53

I'm an Aquarius too, as is DS so I like your description BabyGiraffes

InmaculadaConcepcion · 15/11/2010 18:58

Yours must be just gifted and talented, then CC Grin - hardly surprising, given the parentage...

Good luck tonight, LBH - I'll be thinking of you.

DD has been having a lot of fun today practising her newest trick - sitting up from prone. Time to drop the cot level, methinks. Hmm

OP posts:
LittlebearH · 15/11/2010 18:58

Lol BG My Aquarian is def trouble but she is very good looking. So I think you are right!! Even when she is screaming her head off (right now)

DP has been called out and I am doing CC on my own :( Trying to keep it together!!

GuernseyFrench · 15/11/2010 19:13

BG and phew I'm also an Aquarius and so is DS. Can I also add determined and mischievous? (This apply to me and DS) Grin

IC oh yes, it'll be wis to lower the mattress in the cot. DS tries to stand on his cot (it's already at the lowest setting) but the sleeping bag is stopping him doing it, he's only able to knee.

LittlebearH · 15/11/2010 19:27

OMG OMG OMG DD IS ASLEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ONLY TOOK 20 MINS
