New halloween inspired thread (in honour of this time of year) to talk about our little jekyll & hydes [hgrin]

Is anyone going to be taking their little ones trick or treating this year? We'll be at MIL's for Halloween and she's already told me she has both Danny and DS1 costumes -so it appears that decision has been made for us Grin

SR thanks for that, very reassuring/hopeful. Although of course I had planned on stopping long before now. Boobs throbbing a bit but not too bad.
DD1 very excited as she knows we are going somewhere on Tuesday but doesn't know where and will pee her pants when she realises she will see H and DD2 on Wednesday. Can't wait.

Will have to take my mind off missing kids by going to Bluewater tomorrow Grin

dinkystinky · 20/02/2011 18:07

Hi MoS - nice to see you on though wow at all the travelling you've been doing. I'm not surprised you're missing your youngest 2 - but not long till you see them now. Hope your day at Bluewater helps distract you for abit. And re bfing, it may be its the end of Bfing or it may be that H will just pick up where you left off - you can never tell. But if you want it to be the end, it can be - just stay loving, firm but consistent.

LittleSez - DS1 enjoyed the dance class but was a little bit lost (the rest of the class had been going for at least 6 weeks). He still wants to go back next week though. His favourite dance was Kung Fu Dancing! Danny went along too to watch and was entranced...

dinky oh yeah, I'll really remain firm when I look into those gorgeous puppy eyes of his! I just melt Blush I just want to cuddle him and never put him down.

How are things with you? House extension going well?

dinkystinky · 20/02/2011 18:25

Know the feeling Mos Grin

Things are ok - work super manic crazy busy, house extension moving on a pace (hopefully back in for end of April with any luck), never feels like there are quite enough hours in the day to do everything we need to do!

OP posts:
SummerRain · 21/02/2011 15:35

mos.... sounds like me with A;

me: 'No A, you've had enough Mama Milk today, no more'

me: 'Oh all right then but only a little feed'
....... two hours later ......
me: 'A don't you think you've had enough now?'

EVERY BLOODY NIGHT!

dinky, know how you feel... i've had a succession of puking since last week and heaps of course work to be doing and feel like i'm chasing my tail constantly! Good that the extension is moving along well though... fingers crossed they keep up the pace.

dinkystinky · 21/02/2011 17:03

I think Danny is dropping his bfing now - which am sad about but also quite relieved he's making the decision. He only has a v short feed (one side only) in the mornings while snuggled in bed and at bed time would much rather have a cuddle and five million stories than boob (I've taken to offering him boob twice - if he says no both times that's it, if he has a paddy I just cuddle and calm him down and say I offered and he said no 2 times so no more boob now its bed time - as he tries to use wanting boob as a bedtime delaying tactic nowadays ).

Hope there's light at the end of the hectic tunnel for you SR!

Hello all! Hope the birthday fun is continuing - am a bit Shock at all the potty training chat! I don't think Sam's anywhere near ready - he really doesn't like having his nappy off at all. Even when he's done a stinky poo he'll deny all knowledge and say "Nina poo poo" blaming his sister for the smell!

It's Sammy's birthday tomorrow and I have to work, but last Friday I took the day off and took hin up to the Natural History Museum. It was a great success and we were both shattered when we got home! Got to try to ice the Pingu cake tonight, using the rolling pin from the kids' playdoh box.....

Big day today, DD was formally diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder - nothing shocking but now that we have the piece of paper we can access all sorts of benefits etc. Also found out that she will need to go to "special" school in September which was a bit disheartening. SM sounds like an interesting move to a different class - I think DD will be in a class like your previous one!

How's everyone enjoying half term? This is my first experience of it and it's a big relief not to have to do so much driving!

mumoverseas · 21/02/2011 17:27

oh SM sounds very very familiar!
H does the bottom lip VERY well. Little buggers Grin

SilveryMoon · 21/02/2011 19:01

STW In a specialist school she will probably be in a class of no more than 10 children, they will be highly staffed and she will get alot more support and focus than she'd possibly get in a mainstream school.
What schools will you look at?

How's everyone enjoying the half term?

I took the boys into Staines today and ended up talking to the woman who plays Zainab in EastEnders. She was in there with her children, and when I first walked in she looked familiar, I thought I must know her so I said hello. She said hello too and then we spent the time rolling our eyes at each other over their heads and talking ages and PITA's etc, then I realiesed who she is!!!!!!!!! Blush and it turns out I don't know her, she is on the telly.
That's the highlight of my day.

SummerRain · 21/02/2011 19:10

SM that's made me laugh out loud Grin

oooggs · 21/02/2011 19:30

Littlesez ? wow at Izzy potty training, Luke will be much much later probably like the other 3.

Thehouseofmirth ? loving the fireworks idea ? we have them here on a daily basis Wink

MOS ? glad you are enjoying the bacon Grin

Dinky ? your extension sounds exciting

Sweettalkingwoman ? glad you have it on paper now as will make getting things done easier ? I hope

SM ? very funny

We went to a village near Exeter today to meet another mumsnetter with her 5 wonderful children 8,6,4,4 & 2. It was fab and all 9 children were really well behaved. Trying to have a bit of a plan this half term to stop the "I'm bored" from DS1!!!!

SilveryMoon · 21/02/2011 19:42

I'm trying to work this half term so some kind of plan too, but only so we don't have to spend too much time with dp. He is really really stressing me out. I don't even really know why (I do a bit) I'm just at a stage where I'd rather be on my own. I don't even want to talk to him.
A few of you may have seen my rant the other week on fb Blush about how lonely, unloved (blah-blah) I feel. How desperate is that? That I can no longer face having the conversation, so I decide to post it all on a social network?
His response when he saw my fb was "Don't worry about it, just go out tonight, have a few drinks and forget about it"

All I want is someone to want me. If ever I'd be tempted to stray, it'd be now. Good job no one else wants me! Grin Wink

dinkystinky · 21/02/2011 20:48

Lol SM at your Zainab encounter Grin So sorry to hear you and DP are having problems again - FWIW I know your partner has pulled his socks up when you've actually talk to him about you're feeling in the past couple of years we've known each other - and its resulted in you being very happy with him each time. Maybe its time for another chat (not via fb this time)?

STW - happy birthday to the lovely Sam for tomorrow. Glad you've got an official diagnosis for O - as the others have said, it should hopefully mean that all of your lives become abit easier as O gets the support she needs.

Oooggs - wow! am in awe.

OP posts:
SilveryMoon · 21/02/2011 20:51

dinky You are right, but things only improve properly for a week or so, then it's back to me making all the effort, and tbh I'm thinking now that I can't be arsed with it.
I'm just fed up of saying the same thing and then feeling like I'm the bad guy

dinkystinky · 22/02/2011 10:26

SM - its really hard finding time for couple time, especially now you're working too and you have two gorgeous little boys who you want to spend time with and life to get on with and everything else too to deal with. Are you and DP getting to spend quality time just the two of you? If not, can I suggest maybe seeing if your parents can have the boys one weekend and you spend some time just you and DP and see if things get better?

SummerRain · 22/02/2011 14:15

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM Grin great to hear about O's diagnoses too, at least now you can move forward and gain access to any services she may need.

dinky... my friend has four children and minds her SILs four kids twice a week. So the poor woman spends two days a week single handed with 8 children Shock

bumpsnowjustplump · 22/02/2011 22:27

Hello all..

I have a two year old.. Owen had a lovely day yesterday although i spent the evening after he had gone to bed looking at baby pics and getting a bit teary.

It has been ages since I was last hear but things are going really well. Work is great although very busy. I have been doing lots of training as well as working oh and being a mum so it leaves very little me time. I have had to up my hours as well so not spending as much quaility time with the children as I would like but needs must.

My babies are wonderful, I am amazed at how good they are and how well they get on. O has developed into such a lovely little boy and J is just stunning, and I am so proud of them both. O is in a big boys bed and doing really well. He hasn't had a daytime nap since he was 18 months but does sleep for 12 hours every night now so we get sleep in the bump household now.

Right I am going to catch up on the thread now so happy birthday to all the feb babies xx

dinkystinky · 22/02/2011 22:37

Happy belated birthday to Owen too - hope he had a lovely day bumps. Glad all is going really well with you.

OP posts:
oooggs · 23/02/2011 08:48

sleep is a funny thing!!!!! If Luke misses his daytime nap he is a hellier at night (last night Sad) but if he sleep for an hour in the day he then sleep 12/13 hors at night - I can't figure it out Hmm

dinkystinky · 23/02/2011 08:53

Oooggs my sympathies on the crap night - NOT what you need when you've got all 4 at home for half term. Danny's the same - he NEEDS his sleep at lunchtime and if he misses it he's an overtired dribbling wailing mess by bedtime too.

OP posts:
SummerRain · 23/02/2011 11:32

Happy birthday for yesterday Owen (sorry for missing you yesterday, was too lazy to find the list when i posted Blush)

We went to the circus yesterday and the kids loved it... two little faces like this ShockShock the whole way through Grin A fell asleep twice during the show Confused despite the flashing lights, loud noises and clapping.... he's an incredibly odd child Hmm Although when i asked him what his favourite bit was he roared so i think that means 'tigers' (which i missed most of due to ds1 suddenly desperately needing the loo Angry).

Ooogs, sorry about the crappy night... we're still having lots of them too and i can't for the life of me figure out what the secret to A sleeping is... some days he has a long nap and won't go down at night and is awake again by 1am, other days (like yesterday) he sleeps loads and goes down easy and sleeps all night. Same if he has no nap... sometimes he crashes early and sleeps, other nights he stays up and get overtired and then wakes after an hour in bed. I just can't seem to work him out!

dinkystinky · 23/02/2011 21:44

Happy birthday to Littlesez's Izzy for today - hope she had a lovely day - and happy birthday (if you're lurking anywhere out there) to KBN for I's birthday tomorrow.

Hello again... hehe two nights on the trot!!

Happy birthday to Izzy for today..

Sorry for bad nights last night I am glad to say I havent had one of them for a while.. but please remember I was still feeding o every two hours in the night until he was 14 months old and he only went through the night at 16 months so I am due a few months of blissful sleep hehehe Grin

SweetTalkinWoman · 25/02/2011 13:55

Happy birthday to Izzy and Ivor!

Bumps so glad you are getting the sleep you deserve these days. We too are going through a good phase with Sam at the moment (however, I know that this, too, shall pass Wink. We had a horrible time with him not sleeping through and then months of 5am starts. Beginning to seem like a distant memory now....

SM how's it going with DP? Have you had the chance for a chat yet? Enjoy your afternoon with your friend!!

We've had the "half-term illness syndrome" here - well, DD's not been well. Only sick once but high temp, out of sorts, scared of everything - even the kettle boiling sends her screaming. Managed to get her to nursery today though as had to go to work.

I just can't seem to keep on top of things at the moment - on the go all the time - and have lost even more weight so looking a bit bony now. I'm eating (and drinking Blush) well, but must still be "highly strung" so might have to see GP about changing antidepressants. I feel okay, and things have been much better since being on the AD's. MAybe now we have DD's diagnosis over with, and know what her school requirements are I can relax a bit.

What does the weekend hold for you all? We are staying at my mum's, got a friend's birthday curry on Sat night then another birthday celebration for Sam on Sunday. Since Tuesday, when he sits down for breakfast he's been declaring "Mummy, want cake" looking all hopeful!

dinkystinky · 25/02/2011 15:31

Lol STW - that Pingu cake has clearly given him some high cake expectations to be met!
