New halloween inspired thread (in honour of this time of year) to talk about our little jekyll & hydes [hgrin]

Is anyone going to be taking their little ones trick or treating this year? We'll be at MIL's for Halloween and she's already told me she has both Danny and DS1 costumes -so it appears that decision has been made for us Grin

hello all,
belated birthday wishes for Aaron, sorry couldn't get on here yesterday, RL got in the way Blush

Happy birthday today (I think?) for Danny.

THOM, that cake sounds fab. Years ago I made a farm cake for DD and it was a real hit. Had fun and games making the fence out of matchmakers but it was worth it in the end.

Pingu cake sounds good STW, think there might be a penguin in a novelty cake book I have, will go and see if I can find it

Calico1 · 10/02/2011 07:55

Happy Birthday Danny! I hope you enjoy your day.

Calico1 · 10/02/2011 09:32

Oh and Happy Birthday Meredith too!

SweetTalkinWoman · 10/02/2011 09:39

Happy birthday Danny!! And Aaron and Harrison and all of the others I missed Blush. Hope you all have lovely birthdays.

Thanks for all the Pingu cake suggestions - THOM, I think the ready roll icing on a plain cake is probably my best best. I know the shop you are talking about - Sugarcraft- and pass it every day!! Will certainly be going in there this weekend.

SM we have a meeting next week with the preschool so will get a better idea of what's going on. When I say behavioural issues, it's more sensory stuff, and frustration rather than "misbehaving". So stuff that I have to learn to manage a bit better really. I think it's going to all be down to visual timetables which I we struggle with at home. Sam has a habit of posting all the cards behind the radiator cover.....

Must be off now - taking Sam to the library while O at preschool. Then who knows what - hate it when it's raining. Probably another bus ride to pass the time!

SweetTalkinWoman · 10/02/2011 09:40

Whoops - I missed Meredith too!! Happy birthday little miss!

oooggs · 10/02/2011 11:02

Happy birthday guys

I also hate the rain

dinkystinky · 10/02/2011 11:26

Thanks guys - and happy birthday to Meredith too! Hope she's having a fab one.

Danny is having a lovely day so far - 5.30 wake up and open all his cards (he got more than I do for my birthday!), then when DS1 woke up at 6.30 we gave him his present - trunki was a hit, the hamster was a hit and the fridge magnets were "hold the front page" sensation Grin - then later on he got to go to DS1's school (with me DH and nanny) to watch DS1's assembly and play in DS1's classroom afterwards - he was in 7th heaven!

Happy birthday Danny from your spiritual twin in Ireland Grin (who is currently pouring bubble mix all over my kitchen Hmm)

Happy birthday Meredith too Grin

Hope both of them are enjoying their day so far.

TheHouseofMirth · 10/02/2011 14:27

Happy Birthday Danny and Meredith! Hope you're both having fun.

SilveryMoon · 10/02/2011 17:20

Happy birthday to Danny and Meredith.
Hope they both had a great day.

STW What, like a PECS folder?? I am just about to com0plete my PECS training. It seems like a fab system and lots of our kids do really well with it.

dinkystinky · 10/02/2011 21:15

God Danny and A are definitely spiritual twins -he thinks liquids are best spread all over the floor/surfaces too Grin

Hi everyone

Just a belated hello post to say happy birthday to all your quickly growing 2 year olds.....I had a quick skim through the thread and saw someone had their first visit to the naughty step

Blush DS has had plenty of those....he can be a right little bugger. But he knows how to smile sweetly and turn on the charm Hmm

Keep up with some of you on FB but despite my best intentions, I never seem to make it on here that often.

Hope you are all ok and enjoying your LOs

xx

Hi LMN - lovely to see you on.

I think alot of our Feb babies are spirited little monkeys who can charm their way around us!

I find it amazing though that none of us produced a valentines day baby (was convinced Danny was going to arrive on that date but he made a break for freedom abit early) - I work with about 6 people who have birthdays on 14 Feb!

Hi LMN Good to see you Smile

A week from hell at work. Won't bore you with all the details, but let's just say I am enjoying a big glass of wine and aim to polish off the bottle before bed!

oooggs · 12/02/2011 18:17

manic day here and a 3rd birthday party as well

dcs all tired which is good as I am here alone as dh at work.

another new emotion! Brew but prefer WineWink

SummerRain · 12/02/2011 20:36

I feel your pain ooog Grin my older two both had birthday parties so i've spent all day running backwards and forwards collecting and dropping off.

A signed 'juice' this evening, all of his own accord [proud]

SummerRain · 12/02/2011 20:37

oooggs even... A interrupted me and i forgot what i was typing Blush

oooggs · 12/02/2011 21:12

thats fab SummerRain Smile signing opens so many oportunities

I haven't had speech problems with any of mine and Luke has been the most adanced out of all of them having 3 chatterboxes to copy.

My problems lie with getting them dry. Day or night, both or either. It is a nightmare we have battled with and I am sure will continue for many years to come :o(

SummerRain · 12/02/2011 22:44

Unfortunately I haven't avoided that particular heartache either. Dd still soaks the bed every night and isn't 100% during the day either. She's 6 and i'm fed up of it now. You have my sympathies on having several to deal with.

oooggs · 13/02/2011 07:25

Summer Rain - DS1 (7) is dry during the day but in size 7 nappies at night and they often leak. With him it is herediary (sp?) and due to see the doctor soon. Potty trained at 2.4 but it was hell and it took him a year to grasp it.

DD (nearly 4) wet every night (in nappies) and very lazy & wets during the day very
often. Potty trained at 2.5 but she pooed in her pants for a further 6 mths.

DS2 (nearly 4) dry during the day and at night if he is taken for a wee at about midnight. Did do potty until just after 3rd birthday and he was sorted within a week.

DS3 is still in nappies day & night of course at just 2 and just hoping he will break the mould.

My worst part of parenting Sad

SummerRain · 13/02/2011 12:41

when dd was 4 she was still wetting several times a day so i brought her to the doctor in case it was a physical problem (spina bifida in my family) but she got the all clear. She's in size 6 nappies at night because i can't cope with the washing if she goes without, she wets several times a night and never wakes. She's not adverse to pooing herself either Angry

ds1 who's 4 was better to potty train (only a few months as opposed to a few years!) but he has a habit of leaving things too late and ending up standing in the loo next to the toilet covered in poo or pee. But he's dry at night thank god.

It's so frustrating isn't it? I haven't had a break from poo and pee duty for 6 years now and i'm reaching the end of my tether.

ds1 has been vomiting all night poor thing Sad

oooggs · 13/02/2011 14:05

ds1 was 4.8 when he started school and had been wetting himself daily. I spoke to the TA who said she would watch him and he has never had an accident at school. It stopped from then onwards. So hope for DD yet when she starts in September at 4.5yrs Wink

SummerRain · 13/02/2011 15:46

dd never wet in playschool or school... but she drenched herself at home constantly Hmm To say that tested my patiance would be the understatment of the century!

dinkystinky · 13/02/2011 20:19

evening all. oooggs, summerrain - potty training is the pits of parenting isnt it!

We had Danny's 2nd party today - a few last minute cancellations due to illnesses but had 11 kids there and 12 adults and it was fine (phew). Danny had a nice time, enjoyed blowing out his caterpillar cake and fishing for party bags with the other kids and decorating biscuits (which mostly consisted of mainlining the icing straight from the icing pen). Had some friends there whose second child is just 9 months - and they announced they are expecting no 3 in September! Dont envy them at all!!

OP posts:
Calico1 · 14/02/2011 13:22

dinky - you're crazed brave to let the little ones loose with icing!

oooggs and SR - same here, though DS (nearly 4) was brilliant for over a year after potty training at 2.8 but recently has been wetting the bed all the time. I thought I'd been so lucky with him as we had virtually no accidents up until about 2 months ago Sad. I know he can be dry which makes it all the more frustrating. He denies that he has wet himself and always says that he split his juice on the bed Hmm
