mlic im doing a sunday lunch too, i cant wait!!
well i crawled in at 4am, L had just had a feed so i got a big smile when i walked in! but he slept in his own room til morning for the 1st time, we have had to bring him in at some poin through the night until then so a minor breakthrough in the memphis household!! i really needed last night i had a horrid week, we thought my dad had the C word, but a scan revealed it was from an accident 6 months ago had caused a mass, although its still not god its treatable, but then 2 nights ago his hand got sucked into a machine at work, not good, his wedding ring got mangled into his hand it was so bad but they saved his hand, its freaked me out so much i cant bring myself to go and see him!

memphis oh you poor father, two awful things in a row. Hope you manage to see him soon - I'm sure a cuddle from his daughter will work wonders :-)

mlic your night sounds like one of your best with w yet, non?

E and F sound very alike. Most of the time I ask dh to check on him as he can do it without waking him whereas I can't most of the time.

Anyway, you jinxed me again ;-) Worst night here in ages. Couldn't sleep as was preparing myself for the onslaught of trying to get felix back in his bed. He didn't wake til 2.10am, dh in with him for half hour til he fell asleep again. He awoke ten mins later but I managed to get him down in about ten mins but didn't go back to sleep for a while in case he got up again. Then A woke for feed at 5.30, normally she'd go straight back down til 8ish but her swaddle's in the wash so she continually woke herself up and pulled her dummy out til 7am (grrrrrrr!!) F woke up at 6.30 and dh asked if it was ok to bring him into our bed - by that point I was past caring. If I'd had a shotgun and one shell I'd have been hard pressed to choose...

tsc god, things do not sound dreamy there, dear girl. I'm quaking in my boots here at the thought of 4 hour tantrums. When f tantrums I can usually reason with him but when I can't I just bodily pick him up and take him where I need to go - is clara too big for that now? //Wondering if I can keep my 2yo for 2 years thereby bypassing 3yo//

CakeandRoses · 21/11/2010 11:57

Oh and we were planning to go to a xmas exhibition/market thing at leeds castle (in kent not leeds!) But after last night we're all to tired and grumpy, everyone except me is now asleep in fact. Think we'll just have a quiet day with a walk, dvd and a roast later.

dh I've got bra envy! Will deffo buy some today. Had a quick look the other day but didn't have time to order but will today.

Have you got/seen angelcare breathing sensor monitors? They're quite expensive but worth it if you're paranoid like I am. Maybe you'd feel happier putting D in his own room with one of those? I wish I could get them for the pram and car seat too!

cake its mostly the thought of traipsing in there throughout the night thats stopping me!

kkfairybrains · 21/11/2010 18:53

oh memphis your poor dad. what an ordeal. i know what you mean about not seeing him though it will definately be tough. maybe just try and not look at his hand although that'll prob be impossible..glad you enjoyed your night!
dh i suppose you'll never know until you try. you can always bring him back in again if you dont feel comfortable. them sensor mats cakes mentioned are supposed to be brill to put your mind at ease.
advice needed ladies...ellie has a real bad cough. seems to be quite loose and chesty and it sounds hard on her throat. what can i do for her? she's even coughing in her sleep the poor thing. i have her propped up in the cot the last few night as she had a cold so is there anything else i can do? do i bring her to the doctor? its 50 euro to go to the doc here so dont want to bring her if its not necessary and dont particularly want her on an antibiotic if it can be helped!

stac14 · 21/11/2010 19:32

memphis sorry to hear about your dad, if its any consolation my mum was badly burned and the wound got infected and I couldnt visit, think its just hard to see someone you love in a lot of pain. You'll be fine when you do see him. Glad you had a good night, are you rough today?

dh I wish I could put Rileigh into her own room but she doesnt have one and cant expect ds to share with a baby, on the waiting list for a bigger house but until then shes in with us. Echo what everyone says try and if you dont like it move him back

could you take ellie to the pharmacist for an opinion kk? they may be able to suggest something instead of the docs or they may advise the docs

mlic has W settled back down on the other milk? Poor E he is having a time of it with this teeth isnt he, and you luv

Well I feel like crap today, spent the morning being sick, then dp buggered off out for most of the day leaving me with R. He has just come back in and I promptly gave him R so I can have a break

Hows everyone else today? Both kids are off to my aunts on Saturday as we're going to our friends should be a good night, xmas shopping tomorrow. We had some savings I am having to use until sil gives us cash, she is getting £200 for the car and we are getting that. Dp told his mum and dad the full story today and his dad ordered her to be in his house when he got in, he was raging about it. Need to wait till tomorrow to find out what happened though.

kk they've stopped treating babies' coughs with drugs now (unless its an infection or something else of course) and suggest using steam (hot steamy bathroom or a humidifier) instead.

If she seems to be getting more unwell (not feeding, trouble breathing, wheezing, temperature) then it could be an infection, croup etc then you'd best take her to the GPs.

stac is it a bug you have? how you feeling now?

memphis83 · 21/11/2010 20:44

stac i felt fine all day, my voice is literally a crackled whisper, but i felt my throat flaring up yesterday, we didnt go in a club so i wasnt shouting just hope it gets better tomorrow!! great news that in laws are getting involved, cant believe they will only get 200 for a car they borrowed a lot more for! my little bro is 3 and he is being a pain think he can feel that step mum is stressed and dad cant do much so offered to take him at some point next week to give them a break!
Good news here think my tablets are strating to work, ive gone from several panic attacks to only about 1 a day, not had one at all today!

mlic that's bad!! Where do you let them out then?

tsc I've had similar comments about F from the older generation, I guess she meant well but it's not really helpful. Is there a middle ground like mlic says, don't stop feeding him altogether but just go out for a couple of hours and let dp get on with it? You must be so desperate for a break you can taste it!

kk how was your night off/out?

memphis really really good to hear that the tablets are helping. That's a great start.

kkfairybrains · 21/11/2010 22:54

Night out was good! im such a sap i started crying when she left yesterday!! I just hate being away from her! the break was lovely though and was brill to get a dinner handed to me today! Dps mum washed and strtilised all the bottles too so literally had to do nothing today!
Memphis thats great your feeling better in yourself

CakeandRoses · 21/11/2010 23:13

glad you had a good time. dp's mother sounds fab!

you're not a sap for crying! F was 10 months before i left him overnight and that was only because i knew i had to do a practice run for our wedding night! i don't know when i'll leave A overnight altho my father and step-mother would have her at the drop of a hat (they regularly have F these days) so i'm hoping to do it a bit sooner than 10 months this time!

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/11/2010 08:20

Morning all,

I think I have made a rod for my own back, Dylan now seems to sleep ALOT better in our bed. 10-12 in his cot, 12-5 in our bed, quick feed then 7:40 get up.

Its all changing at 6 months though, weaning and cot in his own room. Im getting strict! But for now, hes my little baby and I dont want to spend all my time fighting him to get him to sleep somewhere else.

Hes got his last set of jabs today. Really not looking forward to it, I really hate seeing him cry in pain but I know its for his own good and he gets over it very quickly.
He slept for an hour in his moses basket when we got home from the last lot.

CakeandRoses · 22/11/2010 09:05

dh that sounds like a very sensible approach if you're both happy with a bit of co-sleeping for now.

Imho, it's far better to accept the type of baby you have and just enjoy them rather than spend the whole time fighting them and trying to make them into someone they're not. Some babies sleep easily and some don't but they're all gorgeous - and only babies for such a short time really.

I hope this doesn't sound patronising but I'm impressed by what an old head on young shoulders you've got! Dylan's lucky to have you :-)
