quick question is everyones babies rolling? Rileigh just doesnt seem bothered, she has done it by accident but not very often. Any ideas on how to encourage this? She prefers to be sitting up and can manage to sit for a bit herself, why do we worry about everything lol

thanks chulita, it is a nightmare just now but hopefully we have sorted it now, well dp and I know what we are doing about xmas not sil having cash, have to wait till the begining of december to see if thats there

kk thats a great idea I hadnt thought of that getting money towards a car chair, we got a gracco one in asda and I thought it was the next size but its from 4years up bugger lol

stac S is the same, he can and has done by accident but really doesn't bother. He's like R, he likes to be sat up rather than lying down. Don't panic, she'll get there when she's ready :) Amazed that she can sit for herself for a bit, S is lucky if he bends at the waist enough to get in his bumbo!

kkfairybrains · 18/11/2010 16:14

stac ellie has done it maybe twice but not all the time. her new fave thing to do while lying down is chewing her toes! i wouldnt worry!. E loves to be sitting up but she wouldnt be able to just sit on the floor by herself or anything! really hope you sil stumps up something for you. its a horrible situation to be in.

our routine is: try to sneak a quick feed in about 6.50pm before she goes into meltdown then all upstairs to our bedroom (dimly lit) at 7pm. We sit on our bed with them, and F has a few stories (usually read by dh these days) while i change and dress A for bed as she rubbernecks to see the book/her brother. If she's not in meltdown mode then i try to force more milk down feed her again. Then in swaddle, dummy, kiss and 'sweet dreams, i love you' then light off and leave the room at 7.30pmish.

felix only has a bath twice a week (due to his eczema) so we tend to chuck her in at the same time.

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/11/2010 17:26

Thanks stac and mlic I think Ill try the feeding in a quiet room after his bath tonight.

chulita I got This and also this
Luckily the one size they have in the second one is my exact size!

memphis83 · 18/11/2010 18:29

stac i got the hipp stuff too, its for use after 6 months, only formula you should use is stage 1 or 2 at the moment, your sil sounds totally out of order, sounds like your dp wont let it drop though which is good.
dh is away tonight, L is being impossible this week poor dh is doing 18 hour days driving in excess of 500 miles a day this week then got a screaming baby to contend with so he is so tired i reckon tonight away wil do him good, i on the other hand am dreading it, for some reason at night he becomes really sick, its projectile, just sprayed everywhere, in the day hes ok!!??

Woodlands · 18/11/2010 18:48

i'm not planning to wean for a good while yet, certainly not before christmas. j is 18/7 (4 months today) and not showing any signs of readiness yet, nowhere near. i also want to do BLW so it will really depend on him.

we don't have a bedtime routine yet. there's no point in putting him down unless he's tired. i get him ready for bed early evening, 7ish, then wait for his eyelids to start drooping and at that point whisk him off to the bedroom for a sleepy feed and bed. it seems to work! of course it's all gone to pot this week as we're on holiday.

Chulita · 18/11/2010 19:33

dh they're lovely Envy I really need at least two more nursing bras but the prices keep putting me off. The ones I used for L are now 2.5 years old (I wore them while pg with her too) and are very saggy. I should just bite the bullet really...

memphis before S's reflux calmed down (a bit) he was the opposite. he'd projectile all day and then be ok at night, still waking up but not vomming - strange cos just as I thought he was over it he'd projectile first thing in the morning all over the bed :( Haven't had a projectile vomit now for a good few weeks although he still throws up and swallows it, he sounds really hoarse today from all the stomach acid burbling about - poor little man! Hope L is really good for you tonight :)

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/11/2010 19:44

chulita when it comes to nursing bras you really do get what you pay for and Ive looked at loads to know that anything between 20 and 29 quid is v reasonable. Go for it!

Im not planning to wean til beginning of Jan when hes 6 months unless he is really showing me he wants food before.

memphis83 · 18/11/2010 19:47

chulita i hope he sleeps i had a 10 hour day at work and got a 12 hour one tomorrow he has dropped off now clutching his spot the dog so will take him up as soon as he is deep enough not to wake!
stac forgot to say L hasnt even attempted to roll over hes too happy being bolt upright, asked hv about it as others are doing it she said babies with reflux dont tend to roll as they spend a lot more time propped up

Chulita · 18/11/2010 19:49

memphis I agree wrt the reflux, when I do lie him down he chokes a lot of the time so he stays upright. He loves standing up though :)

dh I got a hotmilk one that's lovely but the wrong size Angry didn't realise how big I'd get this time round! I will fork out for them, just need to grit my teeth first Grin but yea, you get what you pay for and I'd never touch Mothercare ones again.

'tis a faff isn't it?! I remember with L being really excited about it and within a week wishing I could ditch it all for plain old milk! I think with reflux babies it really does help though, same with incredibly hungry babies and babies that just suck at sucking Grin Glad he's smiley, you might get to see more of his personality and less of his discomfort if he feeds better on solids :)

Cake dd2 is probably just getting something little from us for Christmas like some stacking cups or something. We have LOADS of clothes as I have all of dd1's stuff still. Mine and dh's families are all in the UK so they post stuff for the dds to us, usually books or clothes. Although we have loads of kids clothes I still like getting UK stuff sent as a lot of it is much nicer than stuff in the shops here (NZ).

Dh no real routine here for dd2, she usually goes to bed about 8ish. Until a few weeks ago I had to feed/rock her to sleep (we have a rocking chair which got a LOT of use) but now she will just go in her cot and go to sleep by herself - I think she is much better now as her reflux is going away.

Stac dd2 has rolled from front to back, she prefers being upright to being on the floor though, so hasnt done it much.

Dd2 and I have horrendous colds, dd1 had it last week but better now. Dd2 coughing loads at night, so much it is making her throw up Sad. Not much you can give babies this age really apart from Calpol...ironically dh hasn't caught it and he's the smoker...

stac14 · 18/11/2010 20:59

would you believe after i posted she rolled twice, so she can do it lol. But I agree she prefers to be upright because of the reflux. She loves standing too Smile

thats great news about w mlic

no dp isnt letting it go with his sis thankfully memphis but it will be the last time she gets anything from me. R used to be very sick at teatime, the ranitadine really helps, wonder when they will tell us to stop it

hows everyone else tonight? J's footy team won tonight thankfully, they have been bet loads recently compared to last year were they won everything, at least their tryingGrin

dh you've guilted me into buying new bras. Poor dh has been seeing me in same manky ones for 3 years

mlic so so pleased to hear that about w. Actually felt a bit emotional readin that (hormones aplenty). Reckon you deffo did the right thing re weaning - won't stop you justifying until he's at least 21 tho ;-)

DesperateHousewife21 · 19/11/2010 08:20

stac Dylan loves standing too, wears my arms out!

chulita I promise that wasnt my intention! Im sure your dh will love them too Grin

Dylan seems to be waking at 11pm now, no matter what time he goes down. Then he woke at 3,5,6,7,8...nice.

Ive got the breastfeeding group at 10 but after that Ive got nothing. My mum is at work and my friend I was going to see is now busy so what can I dooooooooooo?

DesperateHousewife21 · 19/11/2010 08:26

Also chulita Ive been on the hotmilk website but I didnt really understand it. Do you buy from the online shops i.e figleaves etc or do they have their own stuff? Ive got a 15% voucher for hotmilk but it doesnt work on figleaves even though it says that is an online store.
